It’s hardly surprising that Alan Pardew wants to get a replacement in for the departed Demba Ba as soon as possible, and Newcastle will not move for any of their other transfer targets until they secure either Remy or another top striker, who can replace Demba Ba in the squad.
Loic Remy - German clubs now interested
Demba Ba’s are big shoes to fill of course, and there’s a big question as to whether Newcastle can score the goals through the end of the season to keep us in the Premier League, given that Ba scored 13 of the 27 goals Newcastle have scored in the Premier League this season.
Remy is an excellent choice to play in Newcastle’s 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 formations, as he can play up the middle as an out and out striker, or on one of the flanks in a 4-3-3 formation.
So if Newcastle can tie up the deal by the end of the week, which seems to be Newcastle’s goal, then Loic would be a good signing and in a 4-3-3 formation our front three would be Ben Arfa, Cisse and Remy – and that looks a strong front three.
German clubs are still said to be interested in taking Loic Remy to the Bundesliga, and as happens in these transfer deals, there are conflicting reports coming out, although all reports seem to have Newcastle in the lead for the French striker, but the Tyneside club will need to move quickly to try to tie a deal up this week.
But Newcastle are not renowned for their speed in the transfer market, and with Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04 both said to be interested, it could well be the Frenchman wants to see what the German clubs can offer him.
There were reports last week that Loic wanted to wait and see what offers came in for him, but of course that’s exactly what Newcastle do not want to happen, and the sooner we can get this lad signed up the better.
But the longer this deal goes past the end of the week, it could be that he is going to wait and see all offers that may come in for him – and this thing could drag on – again.
That would be to Newcastle’s advantage, and it seems that Newcastle are not going to try to sign anybody else, until they get a replacement in for Ba.

We don’t know that they are trying to sign anybody.
We’re just hoping they are.
The book-balancing muppets might be keeping their powder dry until summer.

I hope he signs but it just seems to be dragging on to long other clubs get deals done in days ie Ba to Chelsea cole to W’ham sturridge to L’pool to name a few. We always take a month to get a deal done I am hoping in the next 7 days we get a few players in who have not been linked to us a few surprises but unfortunately these days I am normally left disappointed during transfer windows

Qpr had a bid accepted but he turned them down
We havnt even bid for Remy so all this speculation of us being favourites is unfounded

If we sign up Remy this week and Torq does what hw has do to to get Kone back here, then I’ll be happy (but I don’t think I am the one who needs pleasing) lol

@1707 one thing all those deals have in common is English club to English club. they’re always quicker than international deals

I think the big priority is the our Defence. Cisse i believe the can do the job alone provided he stays there and not ask to defend everytime.

we could do with nimo coming on he is the only lad i trust.. mentioned about aburgiene month before papers picked up on it.. said remy when only spurs was watching told us we were after Debuchy at the very start even thou i think some papers had picked up on it.. was the first person i saw mention cabaye and he was also first person who mention mbengue and cissoko when we was linked with them. not heard from him for a while. does anyone know why?
15 Graeme // Jan 8, 2013 at 10:07 AM
Isn’t it just a bit stupid having everything on hold for Loic Remy (or equivalent) when we are so desperate for at least one CB and preferably TWO!!
Without a fully functioning defence, We will struggle to put points on the board. We don’t have a team that can go out and “out-score” the opposition the way Keegan did. When we score, we need to be able to prevent the oposition scoring, while we look for a 2nd goal.

Stop F***in’ about Sign him now or move on – as we will get nobody in – or me being cynical is this a ploy not to sign anyone
18 toon1707 // Jan 8, 2013 at 10:12 AM
Jarramag that’s what is getting at me reports say QPR went straight in and had there bid accepted and that’s the only bid they have. We have all known since about November that the chances were Ba was off in January so we should have been working all through December to have a player ready to sign on the first day of the window but as always we seem unprepared is remy a target as surly by now we would have at least put a bid in if not is it someone nobody knows about like the cabaye and tiote signings just out if the blue those for me are the best ones
19 rainrix // Jan 8, 2013 at 10:14 AM
In not as excited about remy as everyone else is tbh, his form this season has been poor goalscoring wise, plus he has a dodgy ticker. For 9-11 million isn’t there better targets out there? Thats like 5 mil on a striker and CB.
I havent actually seen him play this term however, anyone know play wise how he’s been? It seems a bit off to me to rest so much on one transfer, we did that in the summer with debuchy and frankly we’re paying for it now.

I dont think in all fairness theres really anything to suggest all buisness is on hold and cant see why it woild be surely were capable of talking to more than one club at a time??
Ppb
Re your earlier post about campbell ideally i’d like to think if we did bring in remy/PEA (both:)) then the best thing would be a loan spell for campbell instead of bouncing him between reserve league and travelling with the first team
Tbf i find it hard that we havent been able to use clarky’s position at brum to get a few of our youngsters out on loan and gain some valuable experience especially given the strict finacial situation brum were in
21 Mister Tuff // Jan 8, 2013 at 10:17 AM
I just don’y buy all this stuff that everything is on hold until we get a replacement for Ba. With Remy now in Morocco and apparently no bids being made by the Toon it either smacks of outrageous complacency by the Toon or that other things are going on. We all know that a CB is a must -the suggestion that everything must wait somehow does not ring true.
22 Benji84 // Jan 8, 2013 at 10:18 AM
Coz we all know how much a tight arse MA is do you think if a fan cough up the cash to pay a player in would that make MA to work quicker?
I know that sounds completely stupid but what do you guys think?
23 Munster Mag // Jan 8, 2013 at 10:19 AM
Raintrix, re putting so much into one transfer. At the end of teh day, we could have got other players for less or more money than Debuchy, or De Jong etc. We just didnt want to spend. The players are out there. The willingness to open the wallet is in doubt. Bear in mind that if we get 3 players now ( high;y unlikely ) , u may see none in the summer. You’ll see plenty of SD advertising all the time though.
24 John Tudor // Jan 8, 2013 at 10:21 AM
striker buisness held up till eleventh hour and fails no further buisness thats my opinion
25 Munster Mag // Jan 8, 2013 at 10:21 AM
Apart from Raintrix’s opinion, can anyone else educate me on Remy. How good / average is he ? Doesnt seem to be up to all that much ???
26 toonarmydownsouth // Jan 8, 2013 at 10:23 AM
Rainrix
Torq posted this earlier
Remy is class. People go on about him being injured (somebody stated injury prone!!) and in bad form. But the lad isn’t playing regularly which of course affects form and moral. He is coming back from injury and truly beginning to show the man he was. Pace, flair, skill, tricky and most importantly knows where the goal is – and how to put that bag of air IN it!
Hope it helps!
Also before his injury his goal scoring record was good enough to call him prolific and most importantly he’s a beast in the air which is something we badly lack atm
As for his ticker has this ever been confirmed or just another media rumour??
27 Mister Tuff // Jan 8, 2013 at 10:23 AM
toon1707 @18 I totally agree. Months ago I think we heard from Graham Carr about the massive dossiers at Benton about players we were interested in -so detailed including their attitude, how they played in the rain -really microscopic detail. So I was assuming a lot more immediate action in this window.

time to rebel at the reading game if no striker in by then. have u eva known any other club to be so far behind the game in transfer business, they talk and talk and talk re scouting and doing homework, but it achieves ZERO!! not good enough, A striker should be here now!!
30 TorqToon // Jan 8, 2013 at 10:24 AM
Rainrix – it’s not really a ‘dodgy ticker’ mate. Not in the sense of Fabrice Muamba / Morosini.
It’s a condition that only shows itself during stringent testing. People can have this defect and never even know it. And even playing at the top level – won’t affect health or performance.
Nwankwo Kanu and Mo Diame ALSO have the same condition – and this hasn’t affected them! In fact – many of you probably didn’t even realise that. It’s come to attention because of all the interest in the lad and the trawling up of his move to Marseilles.
I wouldn’t say, in a professional opinion, that its a truly worrying factor. Just something to be aware of.
31 jettson1971 // Jan 8, 2013 at 10:25 AM
Mister Tuff – my point exactly well said!! all talk i think, sounds a good game, but what does it achieve??
32 John Tudor // Jan 8, 2013 at 10:25 AM

33 geordie4life123 // Jan 8, 2013 at 10:26 AM
I really don’t understand people saying we need a cb before a forward, fair enough our defence is one of the worst in the league but do you really think signing one defender in the middle of the season is going to change that right away? We have two recognised forwards this is our top priority. Also pardew has until the end of the season for me if we survive and we were still in a relegation battle with these players he needs to move on.

35 rainrix // Jan 8, 2013 at 10:27 AM
Tads… Thats why i asked mate haven’t actually seen him play I’m just going off of goalscoring form, although if he came here i’d see him playing on the wing anyway so goalscoring isn’t as much of a factor as is his wing play. Thanks for enlightening me
Munster… We all know about MA’s tightarseness
,what annoys me is while we dick about trying to get a million knocked off a price tag we lose time and effort instead of going for other targets, twente messed us about for about a month and by the sound of it money was there to spend but we were too busy trying to get de jong.
36 thai-mag // Jan 8, 2013 at 10:29 AM

39 numba9 // Jan 8, 2013 at 10:31 AM

@tads i agree that Campbell should go out on loan. he needs experience somewhere its no good having him on the bench every 5 games and him banging goals in for the reserves can’t be doing him that much good because its not a high enough level

45 lloydie780 // Jan 8, 2013 at 10:35 AM
\Be honest gys, i am nto excite dby this. we always spend well but 10mil for this guy to me i dont think is wise. He will do a job but not give us the goals. What he will add is pace, but he is a poor mans Bellamy. Really wish we had followed up initial interest in Wilfried Bony. He would be a gamble but cheaper and is more prolific. Doumbia also was a good shout, someone posted earlier about him but CSKA have the money not to sell unfortunately.
46 Beattie25 // Jan 8, 2013 at 10:37 AM
Munster
Remy was amazing. Marsaille bought him for £15 million and he was banging goals in. Looked good against top European sides and was scoring for France at international level.
Spurs went in with a 20 million bid last year and Marsaille rejected it.
For some reason (perhaps financial) Marsaille wanted to try and sell him last summer for the price spurs bod but nobody went for him st that price.
Rumours we’re Chelsea bidded for him do he can’t be that bad. This season he has been injured, benched and in poor form but if he is still half the player he was then he’d be worth taking a chance on IMO. If he gets back to top form 10 million is a bargain.
My worry is is why Marsaille would accept 10 for him a year after rejecting 20. They’re either 1 step away from ruin or there is something they’re not letting slip.

Boys who is the better player Loic REMY or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ?
I have viewed several sites and looked at Denniswisetube but do not watch foreign league games so have no idea re these two.
Who would you rather sign if had the chance ?
48 Sazzer // Jan 8, 2013 at 10:42 AM
Sage – Pierre – P – Emerick – E – Aubameyang – A
49 Krul to be Kind // Jan 8, 2013 at 10:55 AM
Bambams
Both re exceptionally quick PEA is the faster of the 2, Both very tricky players and due to versatility both not seen as out and out strikers
For my money Remy is the better player and safer target, PEA has been at a few clubs where he hasn’t made an impact and really only peaked at St Etienne, never set the world alight at either AC or Lille (loan), Remy has been great at Lens and Marseille and he came through Lyon where he didn’t really get a chance
Hope this sheds a touch of light
50 Sazzer // Jan 8, 2013 at 10:55 AM
Bony would trigger the hoof reflex in Pardew and he can’t play on the winger. Not saying he is bad but I think both PEA and Remy in form is better fit for us.
51 lloydie780 // Jan 8, 2013 at 11:09 AM
Sazzer- Agreed, im just thinking in simple terms-goalscorer, cheaper transfer and wages and younger. We really need a goalscoring out and out winger and a striker. Problem is we are trying to get two in one. We are so frustrating.
52 StuW // Jan 8, 2013 at 11:57 AM
I don’t understand why this would hold up any other potential deals. The longer the board and AP sit with their fingers up their arses, the less chance we have of bringing players in. If(I mean if) we get Remy, that is two of four or five players we need in. Still a CB and CM short, and I still would like another striker in as well.
53 lesh // Jan 8, 2013 at 12:22 PM
I wonder why the owner’s behaviour and lack of investment in the squad leads me to believe that either:
They’re tyring to force Pardew into resigning or
They’re deliberately running the club into relegation?
They can’t be so finacially inept to see that the squad’s down to the bones of our arse;
Another defeat at Norwich is highly likely;
The longer they dither over strengthening, the more defeats are inevitable as players’ heads go down;
Relegation is becoming more likely as each day passes;
We’d not have a cat in hells chance of signing anyone that’s half decent at all!
54 lesh // Jan 8, 2013 at 12:25 PM

Rushing Saylor and Cabaye back could result in further injury and the longer they dither over strengthening, the more defeats are inevitable as players’ heads go down.
Sadly, relegation is becoming more likely as each day passes and as a result, we’d not have a cat in hells chance of signing anyone that’s half decent at all!

have cisse up top with hba off the right.

if cisse is injured we are f!cked but it would be a good time to give young adam cambell a run.
