Newcastle Now Linked With Turkish International Striker

9:38 am, Wednesday, January 9th, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 40 Comments

With Newcastle’s difficulties in trying to secure Loic Remy from Marseilles, they will turn their sights to possible other potential signings in Jnauary, in case they cannot persuade the French International to join Newcastle.

Mevlut Erding _2746072

Mevlut Erdinc – back on Newcastle’s radar screen

The second striker on the list seems to be Saint Etienne’s  23 year-old Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng, and he would seem a decent buy at around £4M, but news today that Newcastle are also checking out one of their former targets – Mevlut Erdinc.

Newcastle were interested in the player back in 2009, when he was still at Sochaux, but since that time he joined PSG that year, and in 107 appearances he scored 30 goals for the Paris club, before moving to Rennes last January, when Newcastle were once again said to be interested in the striker.

The player moved to Rennes because he could get a starting position at PSG and since he joined Rennes for £6M, he has played 33 games and managed only 7 goals.

Newcastle are said to be monitoring the striker of Turkish descent, but we have a hard job believing he’s good enough for Newcastle, and we’d be surprised if  the 25 year-old Erdinc joins the club this January.

Erdinc was born in Saint-Claude, France of Turkish descent, and he is both a Turkish and a French citizen, and has played for Turkey 19 times with 3 goals.

aubeymang would cost alot more than remy, I follow french and german football alot, and he would cost around 11-13m, he is a better talent than remy, but would take longer to adjust to the english league, time we just cant afford right now, he would be someone I would be looking at for the summer, if we stay up!

  • 17 geoff777 // Jan 9, 2013 at 9:56 AM

Ed doesn’t do research, just copies and pastes other people’s articles and quotes.

Sure it’s bollox but it’s popular … go figure.

The comments are really a weird way of running chat room. (With lots of ads)

Oh my god, people this is EDS speculation nothing more!

He is probably using newsnow for any leads and breaking the news incase it is true.

As for people saying we have ‘non disclosure agreements’ lets be honest these days nothing is secret. De Jong, Douglas, Debuchy, Arfa, Ba, Cisse, Anita have all been floating around before the deal is made, by some official source whether it be our club or the selling club.

Remy has the potential to be target, but all this waiting for more clubs to bid malarky is garbage. Its just cannon fodder for the simpletons to talk about. The amount of speculation would suggest we are interested, nothing more I am positive when a bid is accepted, or even the player is coming for a medical it will be revealed, until then we must wait.

Starting a new post about someone we have not even been linked too is just a opinion, guess and well a bad news day.

As for someone in previous thread saying I am deluded, I am not. QPR will go down this year, I would bet money on that. I could be wrong but I think they are full of mercenaries and even Saggy Harry cant stop the drop I feel. Winning Chelsea or not, Chelsea played a very weak team, Rafa even made a comment on it saying he thought they would be good enough. The logic of who questioned me is suggesting that Sunderland are better than Man City cos they won them therefore wont be in the drop. And Martin ONeil is just as, if not better a manager than Saggy Harry.

Problem with QPR is that all the players are at the club for 1 reason, money. They dont care how they perform aslong as they pick up the paycheck at the end of the week, much like our players when we were relegated.

Breaking news, the Fat Slags are booked in for medicals today!

  • 20 numba9 // Jan 9, 2013 at 10:00 AM

Wouldn’t want the Turkish lad. We need two strikers and a cb. Any less than that is going backwards. I thought the club realised we have a weak and fragile squad . Strength in depth needed

    anyone play halo

  • 22 TorqToon // Jan 9, 2013 at 10:02 AM

    Lazy journalism! Moving on!

    Repost –

Slank – Yeah I agree. It’s not like a brief phonecall saying I want this player for X amount of pounds and they say yes or no.

There’s so much more to consider, agents, fees, wages, medical reports etc. these all need to be configured before an offer is made. And all this takes time.

What people mate don’t realise is we submitted our offer to Freiburg for Cissé in November. The deal went through in January. The club aren’t as slow and slack as some might perceive.

Jealousy is a nasty thing gents..

  • 26 bambams // Jan 9, 2013 at 10:03 AM

What about Gameiro, were we not linked with him earlier just before window opened. Dont think he is getting that many games, mind you doing my own legs here – he did not want to come the first time so…….

Heard Ash spotted Shearer playing football at Complete Soccer in Gossy….Looks a prospect and the right price……

  • 27 TorqToon // Jan 9, 2013 at 10:06 AM

Also I wouldn’t pay an awful lot of attention to player valuations when it comes to PEA and Remy. Oh and also Mbiwa.

Valuations at this stage and during a transfer window are pure speculation. Remy and PEA will both cost, I would say, at around €11m. I read in a local paper here in France that Yanga-Mbiwa could be available for as little as €5mil !?! Way off the mark.

Like I said – pure guess work.

  • 28 toonarmydownsouth // Jan 9, 2013 at 10:06 AM

Nooooooooooooo!!!!! Im having terrible deja vu! Next post will be something about how erdnics transfer has hit a snag over a loyalty bonus he’s due!!!!

  • 29 geordielad880 // Jan 9, 2013 at 10:07 AM

I would personally make a move for erin derdiyok of hoffenheim, he would suit the premiership so well, and also Benedikt Höwedes who plays for schalke, would be a long shot, but he is an amazing CB

  • 30 bambams // Jan 9, 2013 at 10:07 AM

New name for this blog ‘NUFC.PLAYGROUNDTIFFS.COM……

Ed, you post as much as you want about our brilliant (if a bit problematic at this moment) club !!!!

I love reading and the banter .

  • 31 pawl250 // Jan 9, 2013 at 10:08 AM

    Wes –

We are not slating Ed, you are jumping to the conclusion that we are.

We are simply stating Ed, despite his hard work and commitment to this blog, sometimes posts something that is totally not needed. Then some of the simple minded folks like sheep will use it and spread it.
If we have quotes from the club, managers, coaches, players etc then yes we have reason it.

In no way are we hating on Ed, we appreciate it, but when people have conversations on a previous post and have to flick between because this opinion, garbage and non factual post is somewhat supposed to be breaking news.

It also adds to the tension, and negativeness around the club during transfer windows, everyone panics because we failed to land the 18 targets NUFCblog posted up. In reality we have have only been after 1 perhaps 2 of them!

  • 32 TorqToon // Jan 9, 2013 at 10:09 AM

Geordielad – Howedes is unreal. Pure quality and pure class. Alas would be priced out of our range.

We were offered Mats Hummels a couple years ago – cant help but think ‘what if?’

  • 33 geoff777 // Jan 9, 2013 at 10:13 AM

I usually scroll passed the article and I’m here for the comments.

  • 34 GeordieDan // Jan 9, 2013 at 10:28 AM

Ha ha ha. We’re stuck in the worlds shittest time machine! All our targets going elsewhere, smoke screens and Melvut flipping Erdinc “on the radar”.

The “just couldn’t get them over the line” statements are being prepared as we speak and this year I can’t be bothered.

See u all on Feb 1st with pitch-forks and torches to see Ashley and Lambiarse!

  • 35 sticklebricks // Jan 9, 2013 at 10:30 AM

£10M being banded around for Remy, and the papers are saying Aubamayeng seems to be available around 6-7M..

I’d much prefer Aubamayeng and some more CB/LB cover if I am honest.

We could bring in Aubamayeng and Pieters for the same cost as Remy… Then presumably/hopefully Ashley was still planning on bringing CB cover in so Mirin at around 5M would make sense to me.

Given that both Aubamayeng and Remy are unproven in the PL I feel they are as much as a risk as each other and if one is going to be 4M cheaper than the other…

  • 36 StuW // Jan 9, 2013 at 12:04 PM

Is it just me that remembers when most were calling Erdinc our saviour(almost) the striker we need? Now all of a sudden, just a season and a half later, he is suddenly no good. Get a grip

  • 37 mick85eire // Jan 9, 2013 at 3:11 PM

    @wes Jameson F”@k u you!

  • 38 mick85eire // Jan 9, 2013 at 3:16 PM

@wrecker get back in your box man! Stop jumping to conclusions, I only said it was bad journalism and that the only concrete news are from those reliable sources! I like this blog for the banter on the comments so wind your neck in pal

  • 39 shamsoftabriz // Jan 9, 2013 at 4:16 PM

Erdinc isn’t very good, it seems. Not sure he is any better than Leon Best was. Gap between Remy and Erdinc is pretty significant.

  • 40 jon.c // Jan 9, 2013 at 4:45 PM
