Some Relief On Shola Ameobi

11:04 am, Wednesday, January 9th, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 353 Comments

Shola Ameobi will miss the game at Norwich on Saturday for his rather silly sending off on Saturday, which only made things a lot worse for Newcastle, since we have only one experienced striker available for the game at Norwich City – Papiss Cisse.

shola ameobi maritimo

Shola Ameobi – will not be grounded by Nigerian FF

Demba Ba has quickly left for more money, and we only had three strikers to start with – even though we tried to bring in another one last summer – but failed.

And the good news (at least for Newcastle) is that Shola was not selected for the Nigeriam squad  for the African Cup of Nations, and that was after Alan Pardew had said Shola would not be going to play in South Africa.

We were concerned about him being banned from playing for Newcastle druing the AFCON,  but the Nigerian Football Federation are not going to bother reporting us to FIFA.

The Nigerian authorities said that Ameobi had refused to answer their calls over the last week, and that’s probably because Alan Pardew told him not to answer the calls,  so it’s just a little surprising to us the Nigerien FF are not going to do anything.

This is the statement they put out:

“We will not be appealing to FIFA to stop Ameobi from playing for Newcastle.”  “There are more important issues than Ameobi. We have players that can do well at the Nations Cup and we will not speak about a player that is not in the team.”

We suppose it could have been a lot worse – so that’s at least some good news – and we can do with some of that right now.

Comments welcome.

Ed might not care about people insulting him but I do. I don’t mind little cnuts like you calling me gay, but to slag off an old man who creates the blog is something I and others hate from 1 post wonders like you.

Who needs a Remy when you have a Shola!

  • 3 rainrix // Jan 9, 2013 at 11:11 AM

Alright now for some legitimate criticism ed in amongst all the bs, please stop saying ba left for money. Yes its a kick in the stomach to lose him so early but if we had no affiliations to newcastle and the european champions wanted to sign us we’d go straight for it.

Cant really say anything for loyalty, if he was loyal he’d still be at west ham, rare thing these days

  • 4 Raj // Jan 9, 2013 at 11:12 AM

It should have been reported to FIFA and they should have put atleast 3-4 matched ban! Should have saved his appearances after the Norwich game. He will come and Pardew will again go with that crazy formation!! Sucks..

On a better note, the club should have allowed him to go and win his national colors. Bloody lucky this guy, does Nigeria have such a dearth of strikers?! Now it can’t be true, can it?

Bring on Remy, or Aubwonyang, and a CH please..

  • 5 catchy in norway // Jan 9, 2013 at 11:12 AM

we are now 9days into jan, why is it taken so long to put bids in for players, on remy, a bid is expected to be sent in the next 24 hours?? really,, why not now, think of a figure and send a fax or emailif its not goint to be a deal move on to your next target

there spending every minut of the day pardew says,, doing what id say

there is no logical reason for this taken so long to put bids in for players,, i thought the time that took the longest was pesonal stuff like salary and add ons,,

right about now, pardew is looking a fool for say mike asked me how he could help,, what help

Don’t think Ed would appreciate being called an old man lad! Lol

  • 7 rainrix // Jan 9, 2013 at 11:13 AM

Beattie – The fact he doesn’t know the difference between “your” and “you’re” should give you some idea as to who you’re dealing with ;)

  • 8 pawl250 // Jan 9, 2013 at 11:13 AM

    Repost from last article.

I have a right to think what I want Beattie, its called freedom of speech, much like I have the freedom to write where I want and complain if I wish.

All I am saying is I appreciate what Ed does, I do and fair play to the guy for his commitment not only to the club but to the blog followers. YET the question remains why post something about nothing, by that I mean pure conjecture much like this post we are on now, no confirmation by any official source, or lead. Just pure speculation.

We all know we want a defender, it doesnt mean you need to get peoples hopes up, because some people will read and believe this. I for one hope we get a defender but will only believe it when the player is signed holding the shirt, as I honestly dont think we will get one this window.

As for you, like most of us are very opinionated and are quick to jump on someone if you believe or have an opinion about it. Why judge someone for doing the same exact thing, I feel its very contradictory, and that is my opinion.

One I am entitled to and you cannot do anything about.

Bottom line. Thank you Ed for keeping us updated, providing a solid fan base to discuss the club, BUT you do add fuel to the fire as stated come end of January and Newcastle haven’t (I pray they do) signed a defender and some of your followers have taken your opinion as fact, thinking that we will have a defender through the door.

Its possible, but unlikely is all am saying

  • 9 // Jan 9, 2013 at 11:13 AM

ed; there was more than just money to ba leaving. and at least shola being suspended might force pardew to put cisse down the middle with two pacy widemen supporting. no long balls? can you imagine it?

  • 10 Beattie25 // Jan 9, 2013 at 11:15 AM

    Regarding this post:

    Gotta disagree with Ed.

Shola going to the Afcon is not a relief, it would have been a relief if he went.

We knew all along with nufc’s desperation to keep him on tyneside that Ba was going. Even with only Papiss I’d rather have seen this bloke go.

Yeah a great servant with important goals but I have never seen a lazier geordie footballer in all my years supporting NUFC. That’s why he never plays, he just doesn’t put in any effort.

Can’t wait till he retires but then were stuck with his even lazier brother. If Sammy doesn’t get a kick up the arse then I can see him plummeting the football leagues plying his trade.

  • 11 Graeme // Jan 9, 2013 at 11:17 AM

Damn, when I saw the headline I thought, WOW, at last, he’s retired.

    What a shame.

Bambi is so far past his sell-by date he should carry a health warning.

Shola and his brother Sammy will never be good enough for NUFC. How Shola has stayed with us all these years will remain football’s greatest mysteries.

I remember our recent run INS that your a gormless moron who doesn’t understand the way the world works.

Let me try and explain it so you understand how this blog works.

    Ed read rumour.

    Ed make opinion.

    Ed write opinion.

    Ed post opinion.

    Ed let us discuss.

Everything you read is pure speculation unless it comes from the official NUFC website you dopey little shit. All the other snippets of info is what we discuss and ultimately everything, unless officially confirmed, is out opinion.

If Ed didn’t add fuel to the fire there be no heat on the blog. That’s what makes this blog the best, the passion from the posters.

We may not agree and not everyone gets on, but my word is there fcuking fire in this arena.

Without it there would just be you posting drivel like ‘hi guys my names pawl and i love NUFC forever and forever. If you are a like minded fan and are looking for love (or maybe just an intimate encounter) then email mr on’.

If we waited for official news there would be literally one post a week.

  • 19 Charlie in the Gallowgate // Jan 9, 2013 at 11:25 AM

Shola not going to the Afcon – Could it not of been part of the TOON’s great plan.
Toon sell Ba – told Shola not to reply to Nigeria’s requests – Shola gets to start every game up front with Cisse –
Means got Ba of the wage bill didn’t have to bring anyone in – save money!!!!
Bugger it’s back fired – the great numpty gets himself sent off

“On average he writes about 6 posts a day, 7 days a week and posts info dependent in European time not American meaning that the post your reading was probably written at about 3 in the morning.”

  • 22 Transfer Sage // Jan 9, 2013 at 11:28 AM

I agree..without the insult made to pawl.

This is a discussion blog for official and unofficial news.

If people only want concrete quotes and deals then read the official site…trust me, its much more boring that reading this blog.

  • 23 boater // Jan 9, 2013 at 11:30 AM

The sound of a semi-literate mob, feverishly scrolling that it would be more of a relief if Shola departed.

  • 24 rainrix // Jan 9, 2013 at 11:31 AM

Chris – Thanks for pointing that out mate :) although thats some hardcore blogging that you’ve bothered to go back and find an example of beattie slipping up albeit one topic back.

Although the point stands that bloke was an inbred troll likely and i doubt we’ll seem him again.

  • 25 Beattie25 // Jan 9, 2013 at 11:33 AM

If Shola is Ba’s replacement and starts the majority of games for the rest of the season I really honestly believe we’ll be relegated.

Pardew in every game at the start of this season was trying to replicate the man u victory of last year. Ameobi flicks it on, Ba scores. He even talked about it on numerous occasions.

Well to our horror we have seen that not only does it not work, Cisse and Ba couldn’t pull it off. I don’t think Cisse and Ameobi can either.

We are bottom of the form table and plummeting down the leauge and if Ameobi is a guaranteed starter we will be relegated as that will mean route 1 no hope hoofball.

    I am very worried.

  • 26 Munster Mag // Jan 9, 2013 at 11:33 AM

But Boater, we might not replace him!! Its all well and good sayinmg we have Jan to make signings, but time is of the essence….

  • 27 jayphoto // Jan 9, 2013 at 11:34 AM

Still dont get why people want sakho, hes really not developed into the player he was meant to become. Hes error prone, bit of a titus bramble! Never seen valciennes play so cant comment on mirin but for me Kurt Zouma and N”koulou are the cream of the crop in ligue 1

  • 28 Munster Mag // Jan 9, 2013 at 11:35 AM

Incidentally, can anyone give me some reasoned info on Remy – ie how good is he? Is he as good as that Chelsea striker who went to Liverpool? Cant remember his name …..what are his attributes? Tks

  • 29 ash1001 // Jan 9, 2013 at 11:36 AM

I got that when I thought knew he would miss the Norwich game, and then was hoping for a FIFA ban via Nigeria. Left with just the first part now, sod it.

His days have been and gone, what sort of leader was he a Brighton, sorry Shola but for me you have made a hell of a damm good living out of NUFC, without ever burning any bridges. A nice guy you may be, but its not often nice guys come out on tops.

  • 30 rainrix // Jan 9, 2013 at 11:38 AM

Jay… I doubt that many people have actually seen him play, they’ll see he has a young player of the year award and hasn’t played much and assume he’ll be a good target. I doubt you’d go from young player of the year to titus bramble in 2 seasons without something going on, maybe he has an attitude problem.

  • 31 jayphoto // Jan 9, 2013 at 11:38 AM

Munster mag – remy is a quality player, surprisingly good in the air for a quick man too! Picks up niggles and injuries very easily though, its not happened for him this season tho and hes a big confidence player

  • 34 Transfer Sage // Jan 9, 2013 at 11:39 AM

Obviously we need another striker and at least 1 CB…we all know that.

But hopefully Pardew, after he said cisse will play central, will stick with just cisse and keep shola benched.

This will allow ben arfa and marvoux (i know he isn’t a winger but probably the best option out wide when we have anita and cabaye in the middle, probably with jonas/bigi til tiote returns).

I still wouldn’t mind seeing a bit more of amalfitano in a central role, the guy is 23 and if anything will be going backwards playing in a substandard reserve league.

So hopefully shola will be benched and not starting.

He has played 40 games the last 2 years and has already made 20 appearances this year…doesn’t seem injury prone to me.

Or is there more? Not seen much of him to be fair.

  • 37 jayphoto // Jan 9, 2013 at 11:42 AM

On sakho, ppl should remember even bramble was talked about as a future england captain when he was 17 and was a big coup when we signed him beating off arsenal and liverpool to him. Sakho doesnt train well, has been unfit for 2 seasons, looks overweight etc, he reminds me alot of micah richards but left sided when he was firing

we have not won an away game all season along with reading
    last 6 away games
    draw = 1
    lost = 5
    for 9
    against =18

    norwich home form
    won = 4
    lost = 2
    for =9
    against = 7

and we are with out out top goal scorer
CH wants to win this game more than most i would recon

    not looking good

perfect day for me would be if we get beat by norwich, pardew is sacked,, CH can sit back and laugh at the 2 pricks who sacked him

So Newcastle are expecting to bid for remy in the next 24 hours. He also wants to wait out January to weigh up options. Why don’t we just bid on our top 3 targets at once talk to them, get the best deal done and dusted. I understand it’s not as simple as bid accept offer contract done. But still bid for remy, pea and whoever else we are looking at and try and then speak to players

If your criticisms lie with me and insults are flung in my direction, then sure, fire away. I would do the same to anyone else on this blog.

But until such a day as when Ed starts to post as part of the community he should be clear of all abuse. He is an answerless target of others frustration and my history will show I have always tried to stand up for what I believe in even if for some that contradicts my nature.

Munster – Sturridge whom many fans on here wanted us to spend £ 20 m on not so long ago. Remy is in a different class. He is quick very good in the air and a team player. He is currently coming back from injury and needs game time. He does not have a reputation for being injury prone which some have stated. He would be an excellent buy.

It is under the umbrella of autism, yes you are right.

It’s just a way of grouping everything together. If you have a cold, you say ‘I have a cold’, regardless of the bug you carry and the severity of your illness.

I for one will just say I have AS until such a time that people can differentiate from extreme autism to mild.

I think Pardew has autism by the way, he fits the characteristic nature of the illness.

  • 64 pawl250 // Jan 9, 2013 at 12:06 PM

Let me try and explain it so you understand how this blog works.

    Ed read rumour.

    Ed make opinion.

    Ed write opinion.

    Ed post opinion.

    Ed let us discuss.

Thats not true, we discuss things totally off topic. I am not looking for confirmation only from the website, this article is good, it shows his opinion with a fact news worthy.

Not … Newcastle after a defender … him wobble on like they are when its HIS opinion not fact, proof therefore the headline should be … I think Newcastle should get a defender.

Beattie personally I agree with some things you say like your point about Ameobi staying is actually a bad thing, BUT sometimes you write the most utter tripe. Infact your a typical fan that cant see outside the black and white glasses.

I remember a conversation back in summer me saying we over acheived, we will finish roughly between 9th – 12th and you said I was negative. NO I was realistic, and arguably most fans would take even that prediction now!

I apparently no nothing yet I told everyone Ameobi would play central against Everton, shot down I was but people don’t look back. Infact alot of what I say actually is true. I dont make outrageous predictions such as we will sign someone unless I know it will happen. Yet I like to discuss Newcastle in general, Obertan why is his form so terrible? Why cant we defence actually defend a lead for no longer than 5 minutes? Discussion the same topics mentioned, discussed that have no relation to Ed and his articles. Infact I think alot of people enjoy an actual Newcastle fan base to talk to, I know I like to share my opinions about the club with someone just as passionate about it as I am.

As for your supposed insult, I think you need to grow up. I dont go into name calling, its childish and well pathetic, cant say it suprised me with some of the things you say, and actually look to defend.

Nevermind we all have our own opinion.

Ed, pls stop making Demba Ba as a mercenary. The man gave his all & gave wonderful memorable goals to this club during his time here. Maybe because some of us here did not grow up in a poor African country missed the point of the need accumulating wealth to feed his large family. As a devout Muslim, his family is priority. If only MA & DL had move quickly with a better improved contract like they did with Tiote, who knows. Ba’s contract at Newcastle was quite an insult when you compare it to Owen’s. The guy was more injury prone than the bastard child of Hargreaves & Kieron Dyer.

  • 74 Transfer Sage // Jan 9, 2013 at 12:16 PM

I get where you are coming from saying Ed could write ….”I think Newcastle should sign a defender as a headline”

But at the same time he has grouped together some articles, the one on mirin, sakho, etc……which says we are signing players or trying to.

Just rumour I know but that shows that the stories have substance and not just Ed’s opinion.

Anyway I think your criticism was politely put so don’t have an issue with it. Its when people just insult Ed which annoys me.

I don’t remember having that conversation. I think most on here would say that I am negative and I am the one that always say we over achieved.

I know we have disagreements somewhere along the line but in this case we’d agree.

I mean I’ve been calling for Pardews head since day 1.

Also I will agree that Ed does often use sensationalist headlines, but as we have deciphered the man is just trying to get people to read the blog and I for one will forgive him for trying to entice people into reading his article.

However there comes a time when saying ‘c’mon Ed you can do better headlines’ a friendly form of criticism can become ‘Ed you’re a cock’ a baseless insult.

Today the latter happened and I never actually singled you out for doing that pawl, however you obviously took offence to my defense of Ed instead and though it was an attack on your good nature.

It wasn’t but the things after that have been a full on nuclear war against the baffling comments you have crafted to defend yourself, when in reality you had no reason to defend yourself.

I for one can draw a line under this and hope that we can both carry on with our merry days. I’ve got a week of work and I’ll be damned if I spend another minute arguing with a faceless person, a voiceless name and a pointless poster such as yourself.

Goodbye for now and I shall look forward to reading most of the top bloggers opinions later.

I get sick of people saying it was good of ba to get a new contract because he helps his family back home.

    What an idiotic excuse.

There are family’s in the north east of England that get by on a little over £100 a week, youre telling me his family can’t manage on a measly £20000 a week? Sod off of course they can.

Ba’s quote was the only reason he requested 80 grand a week was to support his family.
    Utter tosh.

Transfer- A reasonable view which I share. Any update news on Cabaye’s fitness?

  • 79 Transfer Sage // Jan 9, 2013 at 12:21 PM

Newcastle have a wage cap around the 60k a week mark (same as spurs so can’t be too critical, not many pay much more than that outside the rich clubs). Ba wanted rumours 80/90k so never goingto agree.

I have no issue with him moving to chelsea, more chance of trophies coupled with more money, makes sense for Ba.

My issue with Ba is this. He clearly wanted a big move as he had that clause from the start, thats fine, he has ambition. He then didn’t get his summer move as he was played left, helping the team to a great run but not helping Ba with goals, therefore less interest.

He demanded to be played central or he would leave, Pardew gave into this (incorrectly in my view) and then Ba scored again, although the teams shape wasn’t as good and cisse was terrible wide where Ba was decent. Then After he got what he wanted he used that to get his move to chelsea.

Not a move motivated by money but he orchestrated that move away from us to the detriment of the team.

    Ian Toon -

You are forgetting, Beattie is always right, his opinion is fact and he is god. He has massive ego issues, and well clearly enjoys attention. Look at the comment he wrote to me which included the following:-

“We may not agree and not everyone gets on, but my word is there fcuking fire in this arena.”

Erm no pet, I am sorry to burst you bubble Beattie, its very rare I read your posts, only because if I start its normally you being insulting, aggressive to someone. Am sure alot of other readers bypass them also.

You say its passion, I say your a d!ck, who holds his own opinion up so high you are never wrong, therefore believing its fact. I can openly admit when I am wrong, i.e. Anita he has started to impress in midfield, I never thought he would in the PL. I thought he was destined for a full back role. I am wrong, he has played more times in the middle than out wide. Could that change, maybe when our full team is playing but I find it would be difficult to replace him for Jonas, or even Tiote on his current form. Arguably one of the few who deserve the stripes in recent weeks.

As for the “fire” of this blog, I am pretty sure people would still discuss things on a regular basis if you were not present.

We may actually see less bullying on a keyboard if you weren’t here, because that is all you’re, a little cyber bully. In reality I really do not care about you, and you do not have any effect on my life.

  • 91 Beattie25 // Jan 9, 2013 at 12:39 PM

If you don’t care about me why write such a long winded response.

Also opinions are never, ever wrong. NEVER!!

Opinions are part of the intrinsic nature of humanity. No opinion can ever be wrong, even when faced with opposing views.

Your opinion that Anita was shit was right, as it was your opinion. The beautiful thing about opinions is that they can change. So to say that you now like Anita doesn’t mean you were wrong, it means your opinion has changed.

I never say to anyone on here ‘your opinion is wrong’! Never ever. I say my opinion is right as it is 100% of the time as that is what I believe.

The rest is discussion, debate and finding insight into the viewpoint of others.

IMO there is passion on this blog. All the way from Ruddy’s overly optimistic view down to Catchys doom and gloom, most people who write in this open forum are wonderfully passionate about NUFC.

That is what makes us such great fans, if you don’t have any passion then maybe you should dust off that old Man U top you have somewhere in your closet with Cantona 7 on the back and head on down to Old Trafford for the next installment of glory hunters.

    Beattie -

Draw the line, I wrote my comment during the time you posted a response.

I appreciate you defending Ed, and noticing I never once called him a dick. I appreciate Ed especially for his commitment.

I just think some of his articles are not helpful. Infact they produce false hope. And in truth its so annoying, and outdated that we have to refresh the page to view responses. And then when a new topic is available the whole discussion on the previous one must move over. Now if it was a decent reason, i.e Newcastle sign Debuchy, then ok fair enough. The problem is he posts 3-4 articles with little or no time for some people to even read his article, nevermind leave a comment, or respond to one.

Its frustrating and some fans actually want to discuss rather than read. Like I said this topic has a fact, opinion on it. I like that he has produced an article worthy of reading. But for the defender one, he may aswell set up a user name and discussed it with us fans in the comments section.

Its constructive criticism, not me saying I dont like or appreciate the guy. He honors us with this blog, his time and the news.

Its just a shame the layout, and sometimes odd article had more of a thought.

I disagree that opinions can’t be wrong….of course they can.

eg. In my opinion Messi isn’t the best forward during 2012.

There is little to no evidence to back this claim up, while you could argue this is my opinion blah blah blah but not produce any meaningful data to back it up it can be wrong.

Also a lot of people confuse fact and opinion….in my opinion messi didnt score more than ronaldo is just clearly wrong…not technically an opnion but thats how some write it.

  • 101 Beattie25 // Jan 9, 2013 at 12:47 PM

    Here is an example.

Simoncypher thinks we should try and bring wellbeck in on loan.

I disagree with that as I believe he is a good player only, when good players are around him and would likely struggle at NUFC due to the fact we need a LW/SS which I think Wellbeck isn’t.

Now I won’t be saying that simoncypher is wrong, as he believes in his opinion that Wellbeck is a good player.

So what I would do is say:

‘Wellbeck dpes well for Man U, but I’m not sure how well he’d do for us. I’d rather we get a SS/LW. If we are getting someone on loan I’d think it would be a loan to buy to, so perhaps someone like Gameiro of PSG?’.

I will now await simoncyphers reply in the hope that we can discuss this further.

I hope you have taken notes Pawl as there will be a test.

On Demba Ba, its only right he is able to earn as much as he can from his career! NUFC didn’t show much faith in him by the contract he was given when he signed which has far more get out clauses in the clubs favour than in Ba’s! Hes not a geordie lad, for the 18 months he was he gave 100%, scored goals etc, I definately won’t be booing him when he comes back, probably would have booed him if he hadnt gone, no one could refuse 3 times the wages, Champions League football, title challenging, the players he’s got around him now are unbelieavable too! if he hadnt have gone he would have been unambitious!

  • 107 pawl250 // Jan 9, 2013 at 12:53 PM

    SimonCypher -

I would love Welbeck in black and white stripes but I can never see it happening. If anything he would probably try to move on elsewhere. He is a very talented player, but against Van Persie and Rooney, especially on form you have limited time to produce a performance to compete for position. Plus Hernandez looks like he is getting back on form too.

I would have went for Sturridge, could we have turned his head from Liverpool, probably not. I wanted Sturridge the same year he went on loan to Bolton. I would have put a £10m bid in, at the time Torres had just been bought for £50m.

He may come across as greedy, but as a central striker he is dangerous and at times you need them to be greedy. Like Ba and Cisse, they would shoot rather than pass. That isnt always the right thing to do, but it certainly something you want in a striker, the confidence to take the shot. Arsenal could use more of that these days rather than passing the ball over the line.

Sturridge is also versatile, allowing him to take up a wider position, less effective but still effective enough to warrant a first team start. I think Liverpool have a goal machine, and feel he will only improve.

Remy isnt my first choice, but he certainly isnt my last. I would prefer an actual winger, attacking minded player similar to the build of Adam Johnson. The ability to move down the wing, like Ben Arfa can is an effective ability. Not only does it create space for Cisse, but will get you goals also. Imagine 2 wingers doing it, I imagine Marveaux has that build, I would like to see what would happen if Arfa – Cisse – Marveaux was our attacking line.

How many times would you view it before considering making an offer? I imagine the whole process would take a couple of weeks. Now imagine you are going to buy a car for £10m!! If you buy it you cant afford to buy another and cant afford it to be in the garage at all! I much prefer that we are slow and considered when buying players. If it means we get a good one!

Opinions when backed up by facts are no longer opinions they are truths backed up by evidence.

An opinion is something that can be changed or enhanced but is individual to the person.

Saying Messi isn’t the best forward is true in your opinion, I may try to change your opinion with facts but you can choose to accept or reject them.

I can say Ronaldo is better than Messi, you may think Messi is better than Ronaldo, in theory one of us must be wrong but in actual fact we are both right.

It’s the paradox of opinion. When all circumstantial evidence points to a truth yet people still do not believe it, they are not wrong as it is their opinion.

    Beattie –

Your point is valid, providing someone is stating it as an opinion and not a fact.

I believe Welbeck is a decent player, his best years as player were certainly under Steve Bruce at Sunderland playing with Gyan and Bent.

I think Cisse has a similar make up to Bent, in the fact he will score goals, but he does not contribute much beyond that, although has improved recently in terms of being involved, probably due to his wide position.

Welbeck would be a welcome addition as would Gameiro, but he would require a more central role.

I think in regards to us looking for a striker, it should be a younger upcoming player who is willing to wait, learn and come on as sub.

Otherwise Cisse will be inevitably played out of position and all it does is upset the balance in the team.

OLE is an Argentinian sports newspaper .Here is translation as it appears.

Pizzi good news expected to come to the meeting next Wednesday in England to try to advance the arrival of Coloccini. “There are other options, but he represents something more,” he said.

It was the first goal and it still is. The arrival of Fabricio Coloccini has it waiting to Juan Antonio Pizzi and, for now, the coach plans to continue and, on Wednesday while waiting to reach the good news from England: “If we know expectations and hopes to have him, condficiones of waiting we are. But it would be best to make a decision peonto, not dilate more. Though if you give us hope that we can come to expect in a while … Ideally close next week, but we will be patients as possible, “said the coach excited. Is that in the next 24 hours may have news.

Of course, while waiting for Coloccini, in San Lorenzo are other names that have been analyzed. “Cetto, Fontanini, Norberto Araujo, Lugano, Julio Cesar Caceres, there are many in the pipeline. Lisandro Lopez also. Evaluate them, and are valued by us, have the requirements to play here. But no offense to anyone, Coloccini represents more for San Lorenzo, “said the coach on the Newcastle defender. Mindful of the cell …

I went to the Bedlington terriers vs Newcastle 2 last night in the northumberland senior cup, just to have a look at what we have coming through the ranks.

There were some absolute stars on show for the occasion of the match & even an international.

Ferguson, Abied, Ranger, Amalfitano & Adam campbell all started.

Bedlington looked the way better side for most of the match.

Ranger didn’t break sweat all night and was 1 on 1 at about 4 yards out and put it straight at the keeper. I thought when he fluffed his lines for the first team a few times it was pressure/luck, and I also thought people slating him wasn’t exactly fair but he just didn’t try one bit.

Adam campbell was just great, ran his heart out all night and was clearly gutted at the end of the match, sitting on the pitch while his team mates went back in like there was another half to play.

Ferguson for someone who has played against the likes of ballon d’or contender ronaldo, wasn’t good enough apart from a screamer first half.

Oh, and peter beardsley was giving sweets out to the local kids which I thought was a nice touch.

Sorry for the long post just had to get that off my chest.

TLDR Bedlington outplayed our young professionals well and truly last night, and I would rather have them on the bench on saturday then the “Development players”

catchy @ 5 says ‘we are now 9days into jan, why is it taken so long to put bids in for players, on remy, a bid is expected to be sent in the next 24 hours??’

Catchy – do you believe EVERYTHING you read on this blog or in the papers? You criticise the club in your self righteous manner for something that is 99% likely to be a load of made up bolloxs.

Your rantings should fall on deaf ears to anyone who has half a grain of commensense and understands that the ONLY people who know what is happening as regards transfers are the real ITK’s – Ashley, Llambias and Pardew.

Personally think Carroll will be back in the Summer, therefore any striker we do buy will most likely be a winger, similar mold to Remy.

I think in my opinion we will get Carroll back for approx 8-10m, and he wants to come back from what I have heard. Whether that is true I don’t know.

I would take him for 8m like, he is a 10x better player in the same mold as Shola, but he actually is more aware of what he is doing unlike Shola who doesnt have a clue most of the time.

I would like a central defender, Mbwia would be my option, if not Alderweild, of if am greedy BOTH!

Showed over the last 2 years he is more likey to be sat with the physios than on the pitch.

He played in a west ham team set up for him and he didn’t score then.

I’m beginning to think he excelled in a strong team in the championship and managed to carry a bit of good form into the league.

I don’t think he is worth anywhere near 8-10 million.

Marseille coach Elie Baup has hinted Loic Remy might stay at the Ligue 1 club and scupper Newcastle’s chances of signing the talented striker.

Magpies boss Alan Pardew has identified Remy as his preferred replacement for Demba Ba, who left Tyneside to join Chelsea earlier this month.

Pardew is believed to face competition from Bundesliga sides Schalke and Borussia Dortmund to secure the signature of the France international, but according to Baup, Remy could just as likely stay at the Stade Velodrome until the end of the season. “For a year, every transfer window, we have been talking about his departure,” Baup told La Provence.

“But he is still there. Maybe he still will be in the summer.”

It was rumoured that Remy had travelled to the north east earlier this week ahead of a medical, but that was disproved when he was confirmed in the Marseille squad that travelled to Morocco for a training camp.

The 26-year-old played in OM’s 2-1 win over Guingamp in the Coupe de France on Sunday before he travelled to Marrakech for a three-day training programme as part of a 21-strong squad ahead of the resumption of Ligue 1 this weekend.

As well as playing down Remy’s potential departure, Baup also dismissed claims the striker is being negatively affected by the constant speculation about his future.

Baup said: “As this is the third transfer window where we are talking about his departure, he does not focus on it.

“He seeks primarily to regain his touch. The physical side, he has found. He must now partner that with the co-ordination of movements and feeling of the game.”

TS, my opinion of Pardew is changing unfortunately. i THIOUGHT HE WAS a fine analyst of opposition, defensively sound, and very detailed in preperations. That was partly, at least, correct. Now i see him as an excuse making, overly defensive, poor trainer who cant teach a team how to score off a free kick or corner. But he’s a mate of Llambias so he walked into the job uncontested. I hope for an upturn and a restoration of faith.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Coloccini went. At 31 we gave him a long contract (5 years was it?!). At the time he was on fire and in many journos teams of the year. This season our defence has been poor, and he has allegedly had a bust up with Pardew. And we all know what happens to players who cross management (Barton, Nolan et al).

Perhaps Pardew.Ashley think it is a good time to let him go however the fee we are likely to get from the Argie club (3 chickens and a corn on the cob) could be the problem. If he went to a Spanish club for say £3-4m I’d take it and invest in new blood.

An opinion is a belief and if you believe in your heart that Shola is better than Messi then you are correct, who are we to question that belief.

But like all beliefs there is room to change owning up to evidence, proof and mass opinion.

That’s why religion for example seems to many outdated and old fashioned. What is religion if not an opinion that a God exists.

We can say they are wrong but that’s not right. Just because I don’t believe in Santa Claus doesn’t exist it doesn’t mean that a child is wrong for believing.

Opinion is something that is not tangible, something that is born out of the singularity of one persons mind.

So theoretically everything conceived by the mind is reality in that persons universe for they are the only person that exists in the palace of their own thoughts. We do but share the physicality of existence.

That’s why we argue over so many things as beings because we cannot grasp the ideology that everyone is correct in their own thoughts, it is only when those thoughts impose them selves on our safety, health and well being that we should unite and disagree as a mass collective of humans all believing in something that connect us.

For example in the opinion of Hitler all humans should be Aryan. He was correct in his own opinion because that is what he believed, but when that threatened the rest of humanity we had to unite against it as it caused a threat to all of us.

In conclusion what I am saying is respect the opinions of others and never tell them they are wrong unless it becomes a poison, an ideology for harm or a threat to well being of an individual(s).

Tomorrow we shall discuss religion and it;s impact of humanity and ask the question, is it doing more harm than good in our modern world.

Please also read the ‘vastness of the universe and the insignificance of life’ text that I have set you by next week.

Munster- it can’t be easy for him amidst the weight of criticism! Unlike most managers he has not got the PR backing most receive.
He is not very good at being modest when things are going well and
confident without being arrogant when there not. He does not have the quite assurance of Wenger who for me is a lesson into how it should be done. He has rather been cut adrift and left to fend for himself ? He grew last season and needs to get back to what he did well last season. Moyes is brilliant in saying a lot but not actually saying anything. He’s very well schooled in working his way up improving all the time. Pardew can learn from this season and undoubtedly needs to be more of a son of a bitch type when dealing with MA and DL. Funnily enough their probably listening to him more know than in the summer. We’ve all learnt, our development squad needs an overhaul and a purge of the 21+ players who just are not going to make it. When we get more out on loan we can offload the ones we don’t fancy but could perform at a lower level.
On an earlier question of yours – I do genuinely believe we’ll climb the league when the talent is back + a few astute signings. I have been known to be wrong though !

All pardew had to do this season was rotate ba and Cisse and have one on the bench, a lethal goal scorer ready to come on given the amount of games we are playing.

I don’t want to see cisse with ameobi or another target man in a 442. For now put obi and marv either side of cisse.

  • 200 Munster Mag // Jan 9, 2013 at 2:34 PM

Ian, I think Pardew has brought much of his own problems on himself, sadly. John Giles, a famous Irish anlayst isnt a fan and rarelt gets things wrong – just feels he is too arrogant. Either way, so many things can be attributed to him:

    -Awful set pieces
_ Defensive tactics ( that dont work ) – apparently we spend 4 our of 5 practice days on defensive stuff
    - daft excuses – like blaming Senegal for not allowing him to play Cisse ( on the wing )
    - Long ball football and giving up possession to easily
    - Playing cisse on wing ahead of Ba, who was probably better there.
    - Poor PR re the kids ( ” we need guys who can carry the jersey ” I know he is publicly pressurising MA but …

Moreover, he is beginning to work out like Souness – ie loads of injuries excuses, or Roeder – 2nd season syndrome!!

I implore you to read Moore’s paradox.

There is gathering scientific evidence that religion doesn’t exist, so much so that religion is changing it’s belief to fit in with the scientific fact.

But here is where I really blow your mind, all fact is just the instrument of peoples opinion. Everything we learn is the opinion of generations of people who believe certain things and ascertain they are correct due to their view on certain facts.

Just because Messi scored 91 goals doesn’t mean he is the best player. He scored more than any other player, so factually he is the best striker yes? No! For in the opinion of some he scored so many due to the players around him, so if we take Ronaldo (and every other striker in the world) and present to him (and them) the exact same set of circumstances and he (and they) plays every game that Messi played only then can we factually prove that Messi is the best due to the 91 goals he scored.

That will never happen so we use the facts only to enhance our opinion but ultimately an opinion is something individual and therefore not wrong. When you get the facts wrong, that’s when it is wrong.

You know I really think you are all incorrect with all this negativity.

MA is a genious in this sort of world. And he has chosen DL to represent him. This character is also very clever and interesting.

They have a plan that is long term and it is going pretty well. Last season everyone praised them. We think they made a mistake not buying enough players in the Summer and with the amount of games we have that looks correct. But we must remember they could not have foreseen so many injuries to key players, as well as key players lack of form, and of course the fact that the fringe players have not inproved enough as yet.

They have bought great prospects for the future and in time they may come good. Bigi already looks the part at only 18.

We are still going after other great prospects. This is just a blip at the moment.

We should not be saying that they arnt doing enough or that they havent put in a bid etc. You can count it for a fact they are working hard to get the right players in at the right price.

I have great confidence in these guys and this system. Give them time. In 3 weeks I bet everyone is happy. If you write down the first team now and include a new striker and CB you will see how good we are.

IMO we need a striker who plays the game like Suarez or Dempsey. Im not saying those two, I mean real footballers who can play in attack but can really get involved in the game. I dont think Cisse or Ba were like that and thats how we have not played as well. We need a player who can play between the midfield and the forwards. Not HBA.

In my opinion a white horse follows me around which protects me which can be seem by all.

This is an opinion which is wrong as it can be verified by asking somebody if they see it.

Religion is different, you cannot disprove a god, you can attempt to but ultimately there is no evidence available currently, possibly ever, than can say there is no God.

I’m not a religious man and do not agree with blind faith, I like facts and reason, and will say if I think somebody is wrong.

Providing their opinion does now harm to others, which footballing opinions do not, then I won’t challenge them to change, just state my own view on something.

Something like Hitler’s opinion you mentioned had to be be challenged as it had a detrimental outcome for 100′s of millions of people.

Beattie…You think it’s just now that you blow my mind? :)

As pointed out above – I’m not touching on religion anymore.

Using your Messi example, that is correct. If you were to say the highest goal scorer makes the best ST then you could argue you’re correct that he is the best, but there are many other aspects – it is in no way absolute.

I hear what you say about fact is built over time in a lot of cases, but going back to my earlier example of the white wall, that is fact and if my opinion was it was black I would be wrong. I suppose we could argue and say they named white incorrectly, but there has to be a line somewhere.

Once again, there are absolute facts in our world, peoples differing opinions on absolutes are surely wrong.

it is some blip yes lol.

But discounting the FA Cup. We should have won at Stoke. We beat Wigan and QPR. We played great at Man Utd and Arsenal only for tiredness to creep in and some errors late on in both. Everton we were OK for most of the game. And this has been with loads of injuries.

It is natural for people to get frustrated. All I am saying is have a real look at the squad without the injuries. We have a lot of decent midfielders and some good forwards and defenders. They are busy trying to upgrade the defenders and find more strikers. As this happens we will look even better.

    Regards to messi

It is a difficult one when comparing to ronaldo.

However messi was a team which was runner up in the league behind a therefore a more successful side in which ronaldo played.

They are both in very dominant teams with very good players around them.

Messi didn’t just beat ronaldo’s goals he blew him away.

I get how many consider this to be close and therefore an opinion not fact but lets go for an extreme example to prove the point.

I am a better player than messi. I am not as fit, not as technically good, do not play professionally and have never even played for a proper set up, just with friends.

Therefore looking at all the evidence I am totally wrong. Not on aspect of my game is a s good as his yet I say I am better…ultimately I am wrong here.

Your view on the white horse is still not correct.

In your opinion a white horse can be seen by all. That opinion automatically brings it into conjunction with other people. When those people say ‘no we cannot see a horse’ it voids the opinion of the original thinker. That person then has a choice, to continue believing in it despite the factual evidence or alter their belief to tie in with the evidence.

Up until the point when the facts came into direct opposition to the opinion, the opinion was still correct as there was no evidence to the contrary. That person was correct in their opinion as that is what they believed.

    The world is flat.

This has been disproved but was believed for centuries. The people who believed it were not wrong but when the evidence appeared to show different they adjusted their beliefs.

In reality how do we know that the world isn’t flat? Have you been to space to see the roundness? Do you have a divine knowledge of the nature of existence so you can determine that it is not flat. If we existed in a 2 dimensional plane then the world would be flat. We live in the 3rd dimension so there must be a 2nd dimension so in fact the world is flat.

Just because I say I cannot see the white horse and because I actually cannot see the white horse doesn’t mean there isn’t one trotting around behind you.

Munster- I met Jonny Giles whilst in Dublin a while ago. I Didn’t then really know who he was but I met him at breakfast. He is a good guy full of stories of his football past a really interesting Irish type. He hates Dunphy an ex player who is in the Irish media a lot. He did most of the talking and I am sure he’s great on TV. Pardew is inclined on occasions to be arrogant. He is not as confident as you might think. I prefer the human side of him. I have spoken to him briefly on around a dozen occasions since pre season and he does not come across as someone like that to me. My days of going to the training ground are long since over but I am told that he chats after training to fans. He is not relaxed when interviewed and could work on that. Sometimes when players are not carrying out training ground routines in matches you need to change the players. I don’t believe a lot of the fly on the wall reports endlessly repeated on here. My father who told me just before Shearer took over that we would be relegated gives the impression of being relaxed now. He’s seen all the troughs post the winning FA. Cups in 1950′s. Aside from a conspiracy theory involving Ashley looking to have a fire sale of all the talent when were relegated but he was entertaining us at Xmas. He compares Pardew very favourably with all but Keegan and Robson. He acknowledges that Hughton has blossomed but saw him as limited in terms of dealing with big name players. I think Pardew is a good judge of a player Southampton, West ham fans agreed when I chatted with them. I don’t think comments on here are representative of fans at games home and away. Let’s talk after a few signings and returning players things could look a whole lot better.

It would therefore transpire that such intrepid voyagers would wish to return to bring the news and enlightenment back to the “darkplace” for the education and enlightenment of a very small minority.

Nice post. Never had the chance to meet pardew myself unfortunately.

Obviously he won’t speak tactics to you but have you have asked him about long ball, etc.

I do think he has made bad decisions this year but at the same time everything has conspired against him. No real signings in key areas, injuries, players not pulling their weight.

I know it’s his job to find a solution to deal with these issues but he is limited in what he can do. He can’t heal, he can’t buy players himself.

I think he has underperformed and makes some odd tactical choices but I gues ld those odd choices got us 5th last year.

I guess you could argue he is hesitant to change and not very proactive, barely even reactive so far this year but I still want him to finish the season

    From The latest Ronny Gale

NEWCASTLE United star Davide Santon has insisted he is focused on nothing but hauling the Magpies out of the relegation mire.

AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi told the media in Italy yesterday that Santon is a player he “likes” and, as he aims to bring in a host of young players at the San Siro in the next few years, that the Toon full-back is on his shortlist.

However, Santon, contracted on Tyneside until 2016, has dismissed any talk of a return to Serie A and wants to see out Newcastle’s ropey spell.

Santon – who arrived from Milan’s city rivals Inter in summer 2011 – told the Chronicle: “I have had a year and a half here.

“I really enjoy it. I am happy at the club but happy as a player.

“This is really important for a young player.”

Santon has figured in 27 games for United this season and has been one of the mainstays in Alan Pardew’s team, despite the struggles of late.

On Saturday he will return to the scene of his first start in the Premier League when Newcastle take on Norwich City at Carrow Road.

And he admits United can learn from what has been a tough campaign of few highs.

The Italian international said: “We are a young team here and we are growing together.

“That will only make us stronger in the long-term.

“The team give me confidence to play my game. If you play when you are stressed you can’t give 100%.

“But when you are settled as a group you can do well.

“I know I can do better than now though.

“And when we have all of our players fit, we know we can do better as a team.”

Newcastle have kicked off 2013 with two defeats against Everton and Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup.

The Magpies must win seven games out of their last 17 matches in the Premier League or face the prospect of a second relegation in four years from the top flight.

But with players to return from injury and less daunting fixtures to come, Santon said: “Last year we were challenging.

“But we still have a good team and we have to try to finish as high as we can.”

  • 246 Beattie25 // Jan 9, 2013 at 3:12 PM

How do you know I’m not Pardew?

Basically all facts are just a perception of results based in the singularity of our shared existence.

Messi scored 91 goals this year! Fact? No!!

There is documented evidence to prove that he did, but only in this plain of existence. When you question all the data of all of reality, from parallel universes to time travel, when you ask the question what is a year and you realize there is no such thing as time, that is just a man made instrument born out of desire to stabilize the chaos of the universe, then you can say he scored 91 goals in a year.

Until that day all data is a tool of opinion.

The wall to everyone in the world is black, yet you say it whits. Everyone n the world apart from you thinks you’re wrong, you think everyone else is wrong. Who is wrong? Nobody.

The reason is that your opinion is the world through your eyes, nobody elses. You can of course change your opinion, but that doesn’t mean you were wrong.

Also the wall is white to the eyes of humans. Animals may see it differently or an alien race may be able to see a different color all together, so it is only in the opinion of humans that the wall is white.

Nothing is wrong, nothing is right.

You are bringing me back to my days studying philosophy… What is good? Etc haha.

I disagree on time though. A year is a very real thing. Time is measure in the same was as distance. It is merely another dimension in terms on an x,y and z axis for space time is a similar thing.

Eg I arrange to meet you at st James….that has a location on the x y and axis but unless I give you a time we won’t likely meet.

  • 254 Beattie25 // Jan 9, 2013 at 3:20 PM

In your opinion I am wrong, in my opinion I am right. So we are both right, that’s what your not getting.

Opinions are not worthless, they are what makes us individuals. In our opinion NUFC are the greatest team in the world, there is no evidence to prove this, and lots to prove otherwise, yet we still believe it.

An opinion is beautiful whether enjoyed individually or shared with others.

For another example I think Kelly Brook is fit, you might not, who is wrong? Nobody as it is an individual perception.

Now when you start throwing facts around like the curvature of the earth signifying it’s roundness that again is only the perception of humanity. you may show me a football and say that it is round. With our limited knowledge of the universe we submit to the fact that it is round, but we cannot prove beyond reasonable doubt that its appearance is round to everything in existence. Therefore what we perceive to be fact leads to the opinion that it is round. That is our opinion, but in my opinion the ball could be flat, round, squares, cubed, tesseract etc…

We need to consider the dimensional plains we live in meaning that the Earth isn’t round in all forms of existence.

Nothing can be proven so it is all opinion, and opinions are correct in the hearts of all men when you truly believe.

Munster- Moyes was at a low ebb in 2004 . He kicked on thereafter but circumstances can change dramatically in football. I used him to illustrate because I think he’s around the same age as Pardew and served an apprenticeship also.
Transfer- He never comments on players in a negative way and you could say much of what he says is bland. However, he consistently spoke of securing players to enable 4-2-3-1 to happen. He acknowledged that this window could be more fruitful and that the
team was united in looking forward to a good second half of the season. He actually mentioned Everton as a team that showed it could be done. He was somewhat dejected at the abysmal showing against Brighton but praised Elliot and Dummett in particular. He sidestepped a question on Brad Inman coming back but said he had received glowing reports on him.

a war and its not even me causing it, and over the strangest thing,,

To me there both miles apart in everything they do

Pardew is a puppet because he allows himself to used just for the sake of having a job, I think he is weak with his squad, says things to the press without thinking, he can say he is a winner all he wants but his actions are that of a looser, it took a meeting in December for them to realize they undercooked it in the summer,, none of us get paid millions , and we all knew that, it seems Pardew has no clue who is coming into the club, IMO, they are running the club the way they intended from the start, Carr finds the player, lameass tries to do a deal, then they say to Pardew they you go,, another good player for you,, not always what we need right then, then Pardew sets about messing up there careers and sending them backwards

Moyes, seems to have a good relationship with his chairman, they seem to both be working on going in the same direction as a club, if you talk about 5 year plans, mosey seems to have a good one, he talks sense after the games, he uses his players in their best positions as much as possible , he has a system, other than one poor season finishing 17th he has been 11th or higher mainly top 8, they play good football

2 very different guys, 2 very different styles

It’s wrong to say that AP is a bad manager, he wasn’t last year and it’s hard for me to think that he has become one just half a year later. Things are going wrong let’s just hope he learns from them! As Ed previously stated, David Moyes had trouble in the beginning, Sir Boobys start didn´t go perfect. Sir Alex had trouble as well before making Man U too the team that they have been for the last two decades.

Let’s try not to sack the manager for once, that hasn’t worked two well for us either in the past, so let’s just hang in there for a little longer.

    Time is correctly measured.

There is a leap year meaning that time is not fluent and stable.

Messi scored 91 goals in a leap year, as did Gerd Muller in 1972, Pele did not. So the calendar year argument is flawed as Messi had an extra day and what’s to say Pele couldn’t have scored 20 goals in that one day.

Time is flawed. Every second is a little longer than the last due to the fact that the Earth’s rotation speed varies in response to climatic, geological events and other variables.

    Measuring time is an illusion.

  • 263 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Jan 9, 2013 at 3:28 PM

Beattie….I will accept that in theory nothing is definite. As times go on, certain ideals can be proved to be incorrect or we may have been completely oblivious to some element of information that changes the very basis of what we believe or believed.

However, as humans (can we take it as fact that we are humans, if not shall we just accept you’re totally right, wait, no, you’re right to you, but wrong to others or something like that :) ), we have set logical and tested parameters and labels for things in life. Those are what we have to base facts on. When people thought the world was flat that was based on pure speculation, there was no scientific data or anything to suggest it was flat, just opinion. The same cannot be said for the world being round (and round is an agreed human word for something ball like. Ball is an agreed human word for …and so on and so on – cor this covering my backside is getting tiring).

Hell to it all, we’re all right. Congratulations everyone, we’re top of the league!

Time isn’t variable to the extent where it is significant though. Could analyse all that data using chi squares significance tests but would be year and years or data if its even available.

What about moyes he’s been given time to work his magic. So give pardew time to show his magic. What do you all think. That someone like messi is gonna join us then we have mourinho as a manager. Give him time

What is scientific data other than a human perception of fact?

We cannot disprove anything therefore we cannot prove anything.

The rest is opinion based on what we perceive to be fact.

You could say to me ‘I will prove to you that Newcastle aren’t top of the league, and you show me the league table.’.

I could then say ‘in another parallel universe sharing our existence Newcastle are top of the league’.

You cannot disprove that so my opinion that Newcastle are top of the league is correct as is yours that we are not.

If you then go onto say that in this reality, with all the bare minimum we can see, feel, hear, smell and touch, not including other parallels and dismissing all strains of time. Just the hear and the now, Newcastle are not top of the league. If I truly believe they are, despite everything, then I am only wrong in your opinion. Never in my own as that is what I believe with every fabric of my being.

Our opinions are only wrong in the opinions of others.

Matty…Whilst Pardew has pointed at injuries being a problem during most of this season (which they have been to some degree, whether it be 1, 2 or 5 players at a time at whatever point of the season), at what point did he start calling it a crisis? I honestly don’t know, it’s a genuine question.

  • 276 wreker16 // Jan 9, 2013 at 3:40 PM

I think the fundamental difference in opinion between Beattie and transfer is that of knowledge.

What is the definition of knowledge? According to Beattie nobody is right and nobody is wrong, in that case does knowledge even exist?

I would define an opinion as what someone thinks, which is (IMO haha) a reasonable simple definition

But how do you define a fact? You might say its something that is true, but if nobody is right and nobody is wrong, then how do we know when we have truth?

  • 283 Beattie25 // Jan 9, 2013 at 3:48 PM

Even a change in something as insignificant as the measurement of plank time is massively significant when taking data into account to prove a fact.

Usain Bolt runs a hundred metres now and gets a time of 9.6 seconds. That is the measurement of a man made instrument.

Usain Bolt runs again in 4 years and gets 9.6 seconds again. This again was measured using a man made instrument.

In our perception of reality Usain Bolt was slower the second time round as the seconds have lengthened. Smaller than we could even comprehend, yet the fact remains that what we perceive to be time is variable to such a degree that it should make a difference, yet it does not as it gets in the way of the fact that Usain Bolt ran 9.6 seconds.

What I am saying is all scientific data is based on the perception of what we can currently comprehend so that the fact is really just an opinion.

People thought the world was round, that’s all they could comprehend.

If time isn’t as variable as you say then how can it be possible for me to travel around a super massive black hole at the speed of close to light and when I return to Earth you have aged 5 years more than I have?!

Time passes slower on Earth than the edges of a black hole that’s the reason so time isn’t consistent and thus does not exist in reality.

My perception of life is nobody is right and nobody is wrong. It is only when people try to force opinion on others, disregard beliefs because they do not meet their own or believe in something so strongly that the mean to take away the freedom of ones own self that we must do something about it.

People say that you should spell ‘opinion’ like this.

What is opinion? It is just a sound created by humans to give reference to something so that we can identify it.

Is this the correct way to spell it? To us yes, but to the French, Germans, Russians etc… is isn’t correct. We don’t even say it correctly.

So who is correct? All of us and none of us.

Goodbye everyone, I shall now ascend to take my rightful place as the all knowing deity.

we have not been top of the injuery list all season, for the first 14 games this season, we had a pretty strong team out on the field, but the fact is we played very defensive and that cost us points

but we have been saying all season we have huge problems within the camp, none of us new about the colo problem until pardew said something

and on sat against brighton,, was it wise to leave our most creative player we have on the bench and start with players like sammy or obertan who were both very poor ahead of marv who has been one of our best players of late, and has not played so much football

    can you justify that?

catchy….On marv against Brighton, I think Pardew didn’t want to risk too many players or what is imo not such an important game at this moment in time. If he had played and been injured we’d be screaming why he had been played. He was probably on the bench in case we needed some magic in the latter stages of the game. Im not deluded, and I dont think you are either. Your a name on a football blog who has a difference in an opinion to my own. This is all. Lets not resort to name calling eh? Have a bit of class.

My points in regards to why we find ourselves in this current situation are valid ones. If you do not believe the info from that we have had 56 injuries since early july. And also that we have never been able to play our strongest 11, then prove it wrong with facts. That is what this blog is for matty. If you prove it wrong as lies I’ll simply agree with you. The beauty of opinion.

I’v said enough on this topic, only time will tell if our current predicament is down to a lack of continuity in our first 11 and lack of quality in depth or simply down to Pardew and his management capabilities.

  • 307 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Jan 9, 2013 at 4:18 PM

Catchy…Well you’re discussing this with someone who quite frankly couldn’t give a toss about the FA cup at this point. Yes if we went on to win it, it would be wonderful, truth is we probably wouldn’t and the PL has to take priority at this point. I was amazed and skeptical at how many first team players started as it was (Anita, Santon, Willo). For me it was a game where the kids should have all been played and told just go out there and give it a go, show some fight.

I think your last comment is so far off the mark, are you saying you wouldn’t have criticised Pardew for playing the best players at his disposal in that game if one or some had been injured? I think given all the other issues we have, we can forgive him that one at the very least. But that’s me, I know you’re in no mind to be forgiving towards him, but just as those that you say blindly follow are too supportive, can you not accept you perhaps judge a tad too harshly?

  • 308 catchy in norway // Jan 9, 2013 at 4:23 PM

was that our strongest team that played manu ???

i think you will find that you dont always need your strongest 11 out on the pitch all the time, its about getting the best out of what you have right now,, and if you can say you beleive pardew has done the best with what he had then fair enough,,

as i pointed out yesterday, west brom have had a pretty bad season with injuries too

can i also say that just about all season we have had our 2 best CF on the pitch, and these 2 have proved they dont need a lot of chances to score,, but they need chances,, most teams would have killed to have 1 forward that is prolific never mind 2

  • 309 ToonDownSouth // Jan 9, 2013 at 4:25 PM

I strongly agree with your point about creativity. In my opinion we have four ‘creative players’ in our squad – Colo, Marveaux, Cabaye and Hatem. When Marveaux is the only one that’s available, it’s a no brainer that he HAS to play! If I was a betting man I’d have stuck a load of money on us not to score a single goal against Brighton. It really is that predictable.

Time is a useful tool when used correctly though. For example we know the game kicked off at Brighton at half 12….everyone who knew this wasn’t significantly late as a result of time being distorted.

When comparing time on the same area when no significant astrophysical changes have taken place….no black holes here between the time of pele and messi (except the one in mike Ashley’s transfer money box) then there is nothing to say a significant change has taken place

of the players that started, we have no cover for CB, so why risk willo, anita had just came back from injury, for me those where the risks in the game

the biggest dissapointment in the whole game came from 3 players for me,
shola, sammy obertan,, really no effort at all from those
3 players that have been in and around the first team games for a few weeks now,,

We have had a lot if injuries to big players, more so over the last 3/4 weeks or so.

I personally don’t dispute this. Injuries have had an effect on our season.

But do you think we have been underperforming with the players that have been available. Should we really be losing at home to west ham and Swansea?

Also the effort of those involved has shocked me. Players like bigi and fergie, while maybe making a few mistakes (understandable) have shown a high amount if effort in a game.

Players like sammy, shola and abeid showed absolutely no heart or desire to work for the team in recent games. There is no running which is the minimum requirement.

I’m not a one who believes players have to run flat out for 90 mins but these guys were embarrassing at Brighton.

Agreed, and I haven’t either but I have been annoyed by some fans here disregarding it in order to support their own argument.

We fielded a complete substitute midfield against Man U and did quite well. They also looked solid in the Arsenal game until our defense gave up.

But tbh Sammy seems to throw off the shape of our midfield everytime. Gael, Marveaux, and Anita do well together though. But in the end our defense is shit and gives the boys no confidence.

Catchy…Seems are agreeing on something has been put on hold…yet again. This is one complicated relationship.

In normal circumstances, I’d agree with regards to the cups. If you look back to my thoughts in the summer, my thoughts on this season and how we should treat the cups weren’t too dissimilar to now. I’d love a cup run, but not at the expense of our league performance. That is with the idea that we’re trying to develop a team that will constantly push on and subsequently attract the right type of players. For me, that is done more by league positioning that runs in cups. I get that this is a really bad time to talk about that, seeing as where we are in the league and lack of pushing on in the summer.

Why risk Willo? You answered it yourself in “we have no cover for CB”.

I find it hard to single any players out that disappointed me most, no one really looked like they were interested. Now I’m sure Pardew will be somewhat responsible for that, however, if you were a youngster trying to show the world what you are, don’t you think you’d motivate yourself a bit better, regardless of anything else? That for me was pathetic.

On Obertan, up until the Brighton game I thought he had been improving somewhat. I’m in no way his biggest fan, but thought there was perhaps some light at the end of the tunnel, even if it was just a small one.

As for Abeid, can’t judge him on that, but for a player who would seemingly be wanting to prove he’s the man they should be calling on over Pardews darlings (credit Jesper), I would have expected more effort, but I’m far from writing him off….after all Kets has said he’s pretty much the best player on the planet.

    that’s brilliant

  • 332 tequilamag // Jan 9, 2013 at 4:47 PM

Catchy, the table I posted was not just the amount of players injured but also how long for. A point is warded for each week out. The key is printed with the table.
West Brom have had players out half as long as Newcastle.

If u want a funny twitter page look up @evilkagawa best account on there imo not NUFC biased obviously but very funny

  • 334 ToonTinka // Jan 9, 2013 at 4:49 PM

    Catchy with respect,

I cant look at just one game or two. I am looking at our season so far as a whole. And applying what i think are facts to the situation

I think you will agree overall it’s been pretty dire. As for other clubs, i’v already stated that I think it’s illogical as there is too many factors to consider when weighing up two completely different squads, quality, opposition, injuries, quality in depth. Too much to come to any sort of logical conclusion, unless you really have that sort of time to study.

I see this situation as pretty cut and dry. I look at our season and see that we have never had the chance to field our strongest 11 continously over any period of time so far. We have chopped and changed continously because of injuries from the start of the season. Players have had to cover numbers of positions which they probably would not favour in an ideal world. Even Anita, the lad just came in. He needed time to bed in but was threw straight into defensive mid and also right back. Welcome to the premiership son.

Our back up players also, simply not good enough. Kids out their depth, it couldn’t be any more blatant mate. Lack of quality in depth due to the gamble in the summer.

Pardew could of made better decisions here and there i agree, this is easy to look at once his plans have never worked though. You could do that with any manager. But ultimately imo, over the course of this season i believe his hands have been forced into playing basically all he had left of a decimated squad lacking in confidence and moral.

Agreed on Sammy and also a little on Shola and Abeid.

But if you look at our midfield objectively: Gael, Anita, Marveaux and Obertan have showed a great deal of poise against top opposition like that ManU match. Excellent on the ground pass and creating triangles. I would not have expected that from a teenager, a widely unused sub, and a flashy fringe player a few months ago, so I have to give Pardew some credit, our last few games have been our best.

Our problem is DEFENSE!! The errors are absolutely ridiculous and a majority are individual errors rather than tactical errors, hence why Willo and Simmo get a bashing after every game.

    This pair at Benton lads?

89 Norcal, it`s defence where we are really struggling this season.

I disagree on a cup run. It’s difficult to day if it has a problem on your league form.

Some clubs it tires and they lose places in the league. Others gain strength and belief and take it into the league, hard to say how it would impact in us.

Id say that a good cup run shouldn’t cause you to fall right down the league. Maybe upset a few games but not too many.

I’d rather see us win a cup and come tenth than sit in 5th every year.

I think winning a cup would help attract players, even just regularly getting to quarter/semi finals as players see your club as a place they could win something

  • 340 Rotonda heights // Jan 9, 2013 at 4:52 PM

a big difference between moyes and pardew is moyes teams always look fit. we always look struggling after 70 mins with the hoofball.

    Bobby robson

wouldn’t say guthrie controlled games exactly. he was certainly one who wasn’t fit for 90 mins

  • 341 tequilamag // Jan 9, 2013 at 4:53 PM

ToonTinka, why bother to look at the situation as a whole when you can just blame the manager.

  • 342 ochytoon // Jan 9, 2013 at 4:53 PM

Was hoping we’d move away from trying to get Remy as its clear now its probably not gonna happen. Can already hear the “we tried” excuse coming at the end of the month from Pards.

  • 343 Transfer Sage // Jan 9, 2013 at 4:56 PM

Yeh we make some horrible errors, all the defence have I’d say this year, it’s annoying as if you give as many silly chances as we so you are bound to lose.

Still think we are too negative, if we played as attacking as we did against man utd all season I bet we could have hammered some teams, especially when we had Ben arfa and cabaye available at the start.

    Agree bigi looks good.

The difference for me is he played 25ish games last year in the championship. You learn some tricks of the trade playing with experienced pros, something our youngsters seen to lack.

  • 344 Robby Bobson // Jan 9, 2013 at 4:57 PM

As far as i can remember we have fielded colo tiote and cabaye in the same once this season….vs sunderland when we were controlling the game until tiote got sent off.

Colo is the centre.half to play the ball out and cabaye and tiote compliment each other to give aggression and passing to control the game.

That says alot but we should have decent backup, didnt help anita.took so long to get decent.

  • 345 catchy in norway // Jan 9, 2013 at 4:59 PM

it also had players padew said were injured and played

and to be fair, its kind of irelivent , its dont say what teams we played and what team they had out on that day,
we are not the only team to suffer from injuries,,

we have to take each game on its own merrit, look at the 2 teams and make a call on that

i think ppl are hiding behind this bad spell we have had these last few weeks (injuries) and papering over the big cracks with it,

you have to ask yourself, why did he not change anything for the first 14/15 games when the long ball was not working and his players were not happy

that was a 3rd of the season wasted, he is not new to the game, he is one of the best leagues in the world, and yes he can make mistakes, but not for 14 weeks in a row

    that is very poor managment

  • 346 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Jan 9, 2013 at 5:00 PM

Rotonda…Had to read that a couple of times…thought you were claiming that as a Robson quote :)

TS…I meant in the short term really. But each to their own. As for this season what do you think? Should the Brighton game have seen more purplish players start?

  • 347 Indian Magpie // Jan 9, 2013 at 5:02 PM

According to the latest reports, Newcastle have agreed a deal with Marseille to sign versatile French forward Loic Remy

  • 348 tequilamag // Jan 9, 2013 at 5:03 PM

Catchy for the first 10 weeks when injuries were more manageable although the football was not great we only lost twice and were always in the top 10.
It`s actually the last 9 weeks when injuries have really taken their toll. In that time no Saylor no Cabaye no HBA.
I don`t think it is a coincidence that results have been affected by injuries.

  • 349 ToonTinka // Jan 9, 2013 at 5:06 PM

    My feelings exactly.

  • 350 toonarmydownsouth // Jan 9, 2013 at 5:14 PM

    Toon tinka
    Completly agree mate
The fact is not nessiceraly the fact that we have had huge numbers injured the whole time, because we havent, but its the inability to field a settled starting 11 and find that consitency of last season and that was due to the fact we essentially had a settled squad which didnt have wholesale changes everyweek, not just in personel but in there positions too
We’ve had players having to fill in in 2 or 3 positions all season and havent even been able to select a set back 4 this season which i feel has had a massive impact on the team we’re also relying more heavily on fringe players like sammy or fergie who just dont look up to the standard required

  • 351 Transfer Sage // Jan 9, 2013 at 5:17 PM

Not much pardew could have done. Only player on the bench would have been marvoux. Would have liked to have seen him involved from the start but that’s the only one.

I’d also have given Adam Campbell the nod over ranger, maybe even a start with shola, and amalfitano should have had a run too.

Nothing major though. He had very few “purples” available so not being critical of him for that game.

  • 352 tequilamag // Jan 9, 2013 at 5:21 PM

Catchy for the record the table I posted does not include players Pardew said were injured but played anyway ( where did you get that from?) but only players out.
It is relevant if your claiming West Brom have had the same injury problems as us when the figures show they have had half the time out we have.
