Newcastle Striker Target Not For Sale

It’s widely believed that St. Etienne 23 year-old striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is Newcastle’s backup target,  should the Tyneside club be unsuccessful in signing top target Loic Remy of Marseilles in January.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 998

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – not for sale

The move for Remy is ongoing at the moment, with Newcastle expected to put in a first formal bid for the player in the next couple of days, although some news reports suggest the bid will not meet Marseilles’ valuation of the player – surprise, surprise.

But it seems Newcastle may also have trouble persuading French club St Etienne to sell if they do go after Aubameyang, since their Vice president has said the player will finish the season with them  in France.

This is what St Etienne Vice-President Dominique Rocheteau told French radio station RMC today:

“There is a lot of talk about many strikers and Newcastle, but Aubameyang will finish the season with us.” “In football nothing is 100 per cent certain, but we plan on keeping him.”

Of course there’s a lot of shenanigans go on in any transfer window, and we wouldn’t think this is a very serious problem,  if indeed Newcastle find they cannot tempt Loic Remy to Newcastle, and have to go after the less experienced Aubameyang.

But we are hoping it will not matter,  and that Newcastle can get their number one striker target through the door, and the sooner the better as far as we are concerned.

From previous article, after being asked who do you think Mick Lowes means by 3-4 players incoming if we do manage to pull them off.

    Joe1987 –

My 4 preferred players would be

    Moussa Sissoko
    Mapou Yanga Mbiwa
    Douglas
and a Striker/Attacking Midfield player, left footed if possible.

    I think we will get

    Douglas
    James Tomkins
    Moussa Sissoko
    ? (who knows!)

and I cant see Remy coming.

Indian – Previous Thread. You can hear the excuse now “He was just back from injury and a bit rusty”

The bottom line for me is if we can buy a top Centre Half it will make a massive difference especially with Debuchy in there. We have proved we can score goals but we aint gonna win games if we keep conceding 2 or more every game. The clock is ticking get it done AP

Not reading too much in to this either way, isn’t this what all clubs say? They have also admitted it’s not 100%, if Newcastle made this statement we’d be jumping to the conclusion that said player was a goner.

In a perfect world we would sign

    Mbiwa
    Douglas
    Alderwierld
    Sissoko
    Remy

    and sell

    Xisco
    Simpson
    Williamson
    Obertan

Is there no end to the incompetence we’re displaying?

Who in their right mind lines up targets, first and second choices, lets the media plaster our intent around the universe, without being certain they’re available?

    Who else but Newacstle United!.

Am I right in remembering hearing that we try and get clubs in to a non-disclosure agreement over potential purchases?

You got that spot on there. We could live without a rushed replacement for Ba.

But some support for Colly and someone the players have faith in, is just what we need.

And what’s happen to all the chat about moussa sissoko? I’d rather sign him than remy any day!!

Does any one think the xisco kid should be given another try, since Ranger would be a great rugby player (given the number of times he manages to blast it over the bar instead of under it). Xisco surely couldn’t be worse!?

We should never have sold Ba until we had a replacement lined up. That’s what all normal teams do.

We were told we had learnt from the Carroll saga but it seems we have learnt nothing bit to sell earlier in the window and hope someone is available.

Now all teams know we need a striker and a CB and will try and get every penny. With our fools in charge they will never budge from the value so we will struggle to buy anyone.

    Incompetence of the highest level.

As soon as a player is mentioned in the media, I ignore it unless it is taken from the official site. As people have said before Cisse was not on anybody’s radar!!

Beattie….That is assuming the club knew for sure Ba was going. We don’t know what conversations were had, but I will accept there was a good chance so someone should have been lined up, but that’s different than expecting one in before the clause was activated or even within a few days or even a week.

Well Cambell has potential, I agree, but is he experienced enough to be regular back up from the bench? As it is, our top three pecking order seems to be cisse, amoeba, ranger. On that line up I’d deffo put cambell in there, as there’s nowt to lose I suppose!

If Pardew and the board can’t get their Sh*t together and buy a CB asap, why have they extended Curtis good’s loan period at Bradford?

Good is obviously capable and is way better than Williamson/Perch at CB and has played LB for Bradford.

He has already proved that he can play well against EPL opposition in a semi final. They need to recall him for Norwich and play him next to Colo!

This is unreal. The Journal and Crocodile cant even decide between them if we have people in France trying to do a deal so what chance Remy coming here.
Personally I think we should forget him and go fot Kevin Gameiro. Also Tomkins as CB and try for loan move for John Guidetti.

    Beattie –

We had no option, given his clause.

Regardless whether the player was good or not the clause did nothing. Think about it, had he been crap then no one would pay £1m nevermind £7m but with what has happened he was worth more. The clause did nothing to protect Newcastle.

The non excusable thing though is not bringing in a new guy, we all knew it was coming, just a matter of if not now, the summer.

We need a centre back ASAP! Nothing more would suffice, if we get Sissoko ontop I would be happy.

James Tomkins too me does not look capable of being a better player than STaylor or Colo. I would be hoping for a player who can limit STaylors games, therefore making him a worthy addition to the squad, not the stands.

Campbell has better record than ranger in all football outside senior level, but i’m sure he will, ranger has 2 goals in 51 games.

He needs game time, 10 minutes here and there should have been happening all year. Maybe his injury stopped this but he needs to play more.

You never know how well a youngster does til they get a go…look at sterling this year…makes mistakes but the good far out weighs the bad

Just ridiculous and will never happen now of course, which they admitted.

I still have faith we’ll get who we need in. Mis-guided faith perhaps but I just think it would be too much of a gamble, even for Ashley, to lose NUFC’s Prem status.

It would cost the club (and him) way too much.

We can’t sign any English players. It’s the English players who are costing us points. They are the weak-links in our squad.

We must be mad if we don’t try and sign Moussa Sissoko. £3m is an absolute bargain.

    Must signings are:

    Sissoko
    Alderewield
    Remy
    Douglas/Mbiwa
    Another striker

Don’t forget that Anita can fill in at right/left-back plus also on the wings, so if we sign Sissoko it’d be like signing another wingback. Our midfield would be fantastic and i’d only want a right-footed winger (Boudebouz) added in the summer.

Re the Ba transfer. Everyone who knows anything about football were expecting Ba to leave NUFC in this transfer window, and if not in January definitely in the summer, So why didn’t NUFC have irons in the fire to replace him before the ink dried on Ba’s new contract.
Even if we had signed a new striker and Ba had stayed would that have been too bad a situation bearing in mind the problems we will have (heaven forbid) if Cisse picks up a long term injury.
Sorry but to me the whole mess comes out of having a pair of numpties trying to run a football club based on how they have ran retail outlets and casinos.
It cannot get better until DL goes and is replaced by someone with a bit of football nous, and that is not going to happen in the short term.
As a season ticket holder on the 10 year deal I am expecting a realy hard time over the next couple of seasons as our quality players such as Cabaye, HBA, Collo and Krul make their way to the exits to professionally run ambitious clubs elsewhere. In the meantime the less able players such as Shola, Willo, Simmo etc will remain as no-one will take them.
We will hopefully survive as a Premier club but with no ambition. Out of League cup and FA cup early each season to “concentrate on our league position”, Each season will be a nail biting one hoping to finsih just above the bottom 5 or 6, but MA will still be raking in the PL & TV revenues and more importantly to him, using NUFC to advertise his true object of devotion, Sports Direct. There I’ve said it. Hopefully I’ll be proved wrong and the Toon will go from strength to strength, but who is truly expecting that?
