This was not a good performance from Newcastle today, but our standards right now are nowhere near where they were last season at this time, and after losing nine of our last eleven league games, a point away from home with a clean sheet is a good point – fact.
Coloccini had good game today – considering his personal situation
And however dodgy we looked at times at the back, a draw and a clean sheet will give our lads confidence, and that’s what is the most important thing is at the moment.
And we were impressed with Fabricio Coloccini today, after the news of friday morning, and along with rumors of some players possibly coming into the club in the coming week – if we can keep Fabricio at least through the end of the season that would be great news.
Alan Pardew talked about Coloccini for the first time after the game, and said Newcastle would resolve the situation one way or the other this week:
“Coloccini was excellent today, of the center-backs on the pitch he was most assured.” “He gave us the calmness in the heat of battle and you need that.”
“We will speak to him this week and we will resolve that situation whether he is staying or going).” “We are pursuing three or four players and they all seem to be warming up a bit.”
“We need a bigger pool of players but coming here today was always going to be difficult.” We have repaid a little bit of the debt we had to our fans who made the trip to Brighton”.
It was a tough game to watch today, but we were happy we didn’t make it ten defeats in the last twelve games, and sometimes big recoveries come from what appear to be rather innocuous results.
Football is all about confidence, and if some of our players can regain the confidence they showed last season, that can only be good news for the chances of Newcastle surviving in the Premier League this season.
That is the number one target this season – we cannot take another relegation – my heart wouldn’t stand it this time. 😀
Howay The Lads!!

Comment #3we should tell San Lorenco to f off, we r not charity to give our plyers as a gift… the max we should do is to put a prize so take it or leave it… but I think we ll keep him

Comment #4Defense was good, that’s a definite plus.
But our offense was poor poor POOR. Sort it out Pardew..Seems like a mixture of his direct tactics and zero confidence on the ball by Guti, Marveaux, and Obertan.
I don’t think we do well with the current formation, not enough support higher up the pitch for our midfielders when they get into trouble.

Comment #5Hahah “We have repaid a little bit of the debt we had to our fans who made the trip to Brighton”. Are you kiddin, you will repaid those fans when we see a 6-0 win. That is not repayment, for the love of god

Comment #6He has a contract so he stays. Letting him go for free would be ridiculous and Ashley if anything is no mug when it comes to business and would not let a £10 million player under contract leave for free

Comment #7I think people are a little harsh on Willo. He ain’t the best CB in the world but we kept a clean sheet today. Willo settled as the game went on. At first he was lumping the ball up the pitch and giving possession away but he soon changed and became more comfortable.

Comment #8Willo did ok. I was more impressed by Colocinni and Santon intercepting passes at the back. For someone who went from 0-60 on the scandalous rumor scale within the last 24 hours, Colo had a great game.

Surley the test of any manager is when he has not his best players available ,
It seems to me from the very first game Pardew has spat his dummy out because for what ever reason he hasn’t been able to play what he thinks is his best team
I would like a manager who says right , he isn’t playing today , lets try this
What we have is a manager who sees it isn’t working but insists it will,
You lot defending Pardew , tell me you would have played u the way he set us up today , I don’t think many of you would have,
I think most of you know cisse played with no help at all, and if any one of you had of been in charge , you would have been trying to close that huge gap between him and the mid field,
Obertan made a few runs in the first 10 mins then just disappeared
Jonas made runs but could not pass the ball
Marv got more into the game as it went on
Santon tried his best to ddo both winger and LB and did ok at them both
I have read on here the defence did well, I don’t think they did really , I seen a lot of crosses swung into the box, they had no CF , so we were lucky with that
Pardew out ASAP

Comment #10Well they played a lot better today than they have in a while, which thinking about it was not to hard to do ,but at least we got a point today so i am happy about that and just hope this is the tuning point,i agree we do need another decent striker, also the midfield need to move forward quicker,to give the forwards better surport. But all in all a lot better well done lads.

Comment #12catchy you’re right on Jonas and Obertan, But Santon and Marveaux were both wasteful on the attack in the 2nd half. Marveaux especially wouldn’t lift his head to look for Cisse or Obertan once he was <25 yards out.

I know Williamson ain’t the best defender but like i said, we kept a clean sheet and the defense should be credited for that. Willo is a good squad player, nothing more, nothing less. We must bring in 1 or 2 defenders, midfielder and 1 or 2 strikers.

Comment #17If we weren’t in the predicament that we’re in we would all have accepted a point today but its the overall performance that is the worry since we’re only missing Ben arfa on the attacking side. We desperately need better players quickly

Comment #19why don’t the powers that be sit down with him and tell him what he means to our club and fans and tell him that he can take whatever time is necessary to resolve his personal issues and come back when he feels ready and his head is clear. Until then we’ll have to try and find someone to fill his boots. Whatever your decision Colo you’ve been a superb player for us Good Luck with whatever you do decide.
I really do hope he can be persuaded to stay otherwise I’ll be hiding the settee until the end of the season.

Comment #24I agree that today was poor going forward, and Pardew clearly had set the team out not to concede. Guti was playing as a left midfielder, protecting Santon. Whilst Obertan was a right midfielder protecting (not very effectively!) Debuchy. To play that formation properly, the 2 wide men and wingers/wide forwards. It doesn’t really work with defensively minded players. This is where HBA is ideal. If we can then get Anita, Cabaye and Tiote (or a new DM), we’ll be ok.
And Williamson, he’s a fourth choice CB at best. He’ll do a job for us next season is cups and to cover suspensions etc. He did ok today.

Looks like its going to be Loic Remy i next.

Loic Remy 10 million
Jores Okore 3.5 million
Moussa Sissoko 3 million
Sakho 7 million

Yeh but its a confidence thing too.
We’ve got 2 attacking FBs now, Cabs is back, Marv may not be totally EPL fit from what folk are saying, but can do a good shift, Benny will be back and Cisse will click
AND we might even get a new forward 🙂

Comment #37I’m a fan of Colo but lets face it he’s struggled this season for top performances!, he ain’t a captain like a viera/Keane/Shearer etc! So Colo is not irreplaceable!. If he stays that’s great, but if he goes I won’t be to bothered!”as long as we have suitable replacements!!”

Comment #40Tim Krul -1st team player
Steven Taylor-1st team Player
Fabio Colocini-1st Team player
Hatem Ben-arfa-1st team player
Cheick Tiote-1st team player
Yohan Cabaye-1st team player
Papiss Cisse-1st team player
Mathiu Debuchy-1st team player
Good reserve players
Santon
Jonas
Bigi
Marveaux
Elliot (maybe)
Perch
shola Ameobi
ryan taylor
dead wood
simpson
willo
sammy ameobi
Amalatino
Abeid
Ferguson
vuckic
harper
So looking at that
We need a quailty left back as Santon is just not good enough he had a decent game today but i think people are over rating him and he is only a good back up player he clearly doesnt got good intelligence we would of got atleast a draw against everton if he just slid the pass into cisse good players can see passes like this he also always goes on these mazy runs it just seems like he just attacks and turns in on his right most of the time loses the ball its like he is heading into a maze and dont know how to get out still very young tho and good back up player
we also need a striker to partner papiss cisse as we only got shola ameobi in reserve as the rest are dross
we also need 2 centre halfs atleast since colo might be going and steven taylor out injured our 2 main 1st team players in that postion could be leaving and injured
we also need a left midfielder as jonas legs are gone and sylvan marveux is a good back up player
we need
Left back
2 centre backs
1 striker
1 left midfielder
1 back up striker
1 back up centre half
1 back up centre midfielder
so pretty much we need atleast 7 players to have a decent competetive squad can you see more than 2 or 3 players coming in??? thats right noooooo way
we are doomed to be fair
we need huge investing and we need to make cabaye captain it might persuade him to stay longer and his friend is at the club if we lose cabaye in the summer then we are going to find it hard to compete at this level.
