This was not a good performance from Newcastle today, but our standards right now are nowhere near where they were last season at this time, and after losing nine of our last eleven league games, a point away from home with a clean sheet is a good point – fact.
Coloccini had good game today – considering his personal situation
And however dodgy we looked at times at the back, a draw and a clean sheet will give our lads confidence, and that’s what is the most important thing is at the moment.
And we were impressed with Fabricio Coloccini today, after the news of friday morning, and along with rumors of some players possibly coming into the club in the coming week – if we can keep Fabricio at least through the end of the season that would be great news.
Alan Pardew talked about Coloccini for the first time after the game, and said Newcastle would resolve the situation one way or the other this week:
“Coloccini was excellent today, of the center-backs on the pitch he was most assured.” “He gave us the calmness in the heat of battle and you need that.”
“We will speak to him this week and we will resolve that situation whether he is staying or going).” “We are pursuing three or four players and they all seem to be warming up a bit.”
“We need a bigger pool of players but coming here today was always going to be difficult.” We have repaid a little bit of the debt we had to our fans who made the trip to Brighton”.
It was a tough game to watch today, but we were happy we didn’t make it ten defeats in the last twelve games, and sometimes big recoveries come from what appear to be rather innocuous results.
Football is all about confidence, and if some of our players can regain the confidence they showed last season, that can only be good news for the chances of Newcastle surviving in the Premier League this season.
That is the number one target this season – we cannot take another relegation – my heart wouldn’t stand it this time. 😀
Howay The Lads!!

Comment #83I dont think we should buy remy i think we should look for a loan striker in january to partner cisse.
Then if but should stay up we should go all out for romelu lukaku no doubt he be on his way from chelsea in the summer and he is the perfect player for us has pace power and will only improve seems to be enjoying it at west brom.
just to let you know guys i had a dream the other night that pardew got sacked and we replaced him with laurent blanc and his first signing was frank lampard very interesting to say the least

Comment #85Well now we know for sure it wasn’t just one rumour or the other about Colo. Pards confirmed it. If it’s really that his wife is sick I can’t blame him for wanting to go.

Comment #86Lukaku? Obviously on his way from chelski? What are you on mate he’s the future of the club they have said that many times hence why they would only loan him to PL teams so when they want him to step into the first team he’s ready!
Plus they wouldnt sell him for less than £18 million we wouldnt pay that, oh and blanc? Lampard? Were not going to sack pardew and we defo aint gonna sign a 34 yr old who pulls in a six figure weekly wage

Comment #87Have to say I agree regarding Anita, he is definitely a first team performer and has done performed better than most. For the first ten games of the season it was only Ben Arfa and Santon up for it, since then it has been Anita. Granted Santon has had a torrid few games and Anita didn’t have a great game today. Santon certainly wasn’t at fault form Arsenal and Man U this season, he may have cost the odd goal but I can remember it being Simpson who played everyone on for Man uniteds winner. All the defence has been a shambles.
If colos wife is ill it is sad because I would love for us to let him go back but he is such as asset. It’s a shame the argentine team are not on a position to offer is several million for him so fat man has no excuse

and what does future matter for chelsea.
they probably go for falcao in the summer
then they got falcao ba and torres torres will nearly always play as he is teachers pet.
i dont think lukaku is out of reach if im honest if we used our funds on him if we stay up we get another 50 million so why not 18 million on this guy he will become world class!!!

im at work and can barely concentrate with laughter.
Seems we may get remy in next. Daily mail running a story our bid has been accepted. Good news, I think he can be convinced. Can’t be happy with bench football where he is. Time for a new challenge for him I reckon.
Hurry up and get over here Remy!

I font buy that its health reasons tbh if it was finding a new club would be of no priority and san lorenzo would no way be so public about trying to land him especially seeing as his dad is doing all the talking would someone be that disrespectful to a family member?

Comment #94Lampard will be off to a champions league club for a few seasons. Then maybe of to Rangers and finish his career there.
I know he’s a big Rangers fan. So this is me playing the Itk card. 😉

Comment #95Spuds – or Simpson not in the team clean sheet? Or cabaye back in the fold draw? Interpret it how you like.
Toontinka – I for one want signings now so they can make an immediate impact but judging by what’s been said about Remy I’m not sure he will here so it won’t be a quick fix. His manager said he is still finding his touch and correct me if I’m wrong but he isn’t even starting in ligue 1?

Newcastle United are on the verge of the double signing of Emile Heskey and Carlton Cole For a combined fee 22 million.
Emile Heskey only Joined Newcastle Jets in Australia a few months back but after rumours circulated that the A-League club were having financial issues Alan Pardew decided to take adavantage of the situation and pay 1 million up front of for his services the joy will turn to double joy for the geordies tho as last night newcastle had a bid of 21 million accepted by david golds west ham united for there star striker carlton cole and the news of 2 new strikers will be a welcome boose for newcastle after losing demba ba last week to chelsea!!
carlton cole has a fantastic goalscoring record
with 47 goals in 199 appearances for west ham whic means he has every chance of scoring a goal in every 4 matches thats not if he is injured
emile heskey last club in the english premiership was aston villa and he scored a whopping 9 goals in 92 appearances for the club that means he could score a goal every 10 games.
With this ambtion who needs DEMBA BA
DEMBA WHO!!

Remy is a player like, don’t doubt that. He will offer us pace and he is mint in the air also, which we are lacking. It will give everyone at the club a lift also. Had a poor season down to injuries and lack of form. Sitting on the bench won’t bring his form back.
He is p1ssed right off with it all which I wouldn’t blame him for. It’s ok your manager saying your finding your touch. It’s games he needs to regain his form.
My only worry is with llambias and charnley sorting the deal out. We can’t afford to hang about

Comment #99Toontinka – I think that is exactly what the players and fans need. A couple more signings to show were all pulling in the same direction. It would be ridiculous not to replace Ba and we have been crying out for a cb for years. If we got those in it should give everyone a huge lift, cabaye should return to full fitness, tiote will be back for feb and so will Ben Arfa, then Debuchy should hopefully get better with games under his belt. The signs are there that we will be much stronger from February onwards but we have two games this month that we cannot afford to lose. I think four points minimum is a must and its certainly achievable

Comment #101Aye, this is exactly my thinking Nick. Things will look a lot better in 3-4 weeks time. Players in, players back and fitness up. Feel good factor around the place. This should turn our fortunes.
Readings a win. I feel we will turn them over at St James and hopefully Cisse can grab a couple to get him firing often again. Like we know he can.
I’d love a win at Villa, its achievable with their form and league position, I’d take a draw though. Got to be honest though, I don’t think it will be a draw, either a win or a loss.

Comment #103Bad passing and movement today. Never looked like scoring.
Luckily Norwich were crap but if they were not, I am sure we would have also raised our game. I think a draw and a clean sheet suited both teams.
So that, along with a debut for Debbie (he looked okay), 30 mins or whatever for Cabs and Krul/Colo/Santon back to their near best were the positives.
As I said the issue seemed to be that we had no real ideas to unlock the Norwich defense and that was down to the midfield.
Anita did not have one of his better days today but nor did any of the others to be honest. Every ball in was easy for Norwich to deal with.
Guti was the best of a bad bunch.

Jesper
Big rumour from the club is its your fault
According to sources youve stopped signing lionel richie to him whilst combing his hair!
Tads, Jesper’s not in a position to do that. A club insider’s let it be known that we’re still chasing Lionel Richie and that signing’s very much on!

Comment #106I was at Carrow Rd. Anita was having to cover all the way over the centre and right from box to box. Yeah he had a poor game but he was covering for the other midfielders, Marv and Ober who were generally camping on the half way line. Needed to play on the break and several times got as far as the halfway line and just passed back. Willo actually won a lot in the air, in the first half we won most of the balls in the air to be honest. The defensive line wad really good apart from Santon as he pushed way too far up the pitch and yes lost it every time. Too many times Guti was almost shoulder to shoulder with Santon trying to cut out Snodgrass on the RW. Leaving a giant gap between LB and basically up to Cisse as Ober and Marv were nowhere to be seen. Terrible tactics… Holes all over the pitch. Players unable to stick to positions. Was soul destroying to watch.
