As expected, Mathieu Debuchy will make his debut today for Newcastle United at Carrow Road, but his best pal Yohan Cabaye is only on the bench, after returning from injury.
Newcastle will play in a modified 4-3-3 formation, and the midfield three look to be James Perch, Vurnon Anita and Sylvain Marveaux, and Jonas Gutierrez also returns from injury and starts this game.
For Norwich, captain Grant Holt returns from injury and is on the bench, and former Newcastle center-back Sebastien Bassong is in the starting line-up for the Canaries.
Want away captain Fabricio Coloccini will lead out the Newcastle side today, and we desperately need to pick up something from this game, to break our four game losing streak.

Comment #6Shame that the Collo story is taking away the fact that we’ve only brought in one defender so far with probably the three most important games of the season coming up and the defender in question is a guy who was only signed so quickly is because the only other available natural right back is the injured Simpson.

He’s been here 4 and a half seasons and people still can’t spell his name! It’s not Collo, Collocini, Colloccini or Colocinni. He only has a double ‘C.’

Comment #14Jonas back in straight away i frigan knew it, fckn sammy n ranger on the bench no fergie or campbell, perch in as well again, obertan another chance as well, william bullshiter negative tactics, a draw is the very very best we can hope for.

Why does Jonas have to be in the middle? IMO I think Marveaux would be a far greater threat….we can win this, c’mon TOON TOON!

Comment #19Best line-up we have at the moment. I think Debuchy’s performance could be key. If he plays well it could lift the other players.
Does anyone still use Sopcast? Any idea where I can get some links for it?

Comment #20Amalfitano on the bench. They obviously found the cupboard where he has been hiding all this time.
In retrospect hide and seek wasn’t a great idea for a team building exercise.

Comment #21Haha I can’t believe people complaining about Jonas being back.
I’m really not his biggest fan, but we’ve lost 12 of the last 14 or something ridiculous because experienced 1st teamers injured. They’re back and you still want to play the kids!
Unbelievable. Haha.

Comment #22i’m actually glad Jonas is back, yes, he can’t offer much in offense, but we really need his defensive skills, especially as Santon loves to go forward, and we got in trouble many many times because of that while Jonas wasn’t playing

Comment #24Because on the left Jonas is a waste of everybody’s time. No drive, like a second left back without the positional sense. At least in the middle he gets more of the ball.

Comment #25I remember the people in favour of us not signing anyone in the summer and demonizing those of us that said we should have arguing that we have had the strongest bench in so so years, well look today we have the untested alalafamatino, the player who probably takes the third most abuse on this site in young Sammy and a player who 98.7% of bloggers say should never wear the NUFC shirt again.

Comment #28I hate to be pessimistic but I think today has Southampton away written all over it. a team we should beat but actually end up getting outplayed and beaten 2or 3-1. cant see any other result the way we have been playing. No matter what line up we play I cannot see any positives in the way we play. ncfc 3 nufc 1

judging from what the official site stated, i think Marveaux is playing in the number 10 role and Jonas on the left

Comment #30why is amaltifano always on bench for both shadow team and first team? surely if hes on bench today he was worth a run out last week. the few times hes got on hes looked ok.

We’ve lost the last 12 of 14 not because of injuries but because we don’t have a proper squad. I don’t think anyone honestly wants us to play the kids. We’re just frustrated by the fact we don’t actually have a team with any depth whatsoever and Jonas has been pretty awful or average at best everytime he’s played this season.

Comment #33Excited to see how we fair with two attack minded quality full backs.
Simmo tried his best… but ultimately his crosses amounted to nothing… hitting the closest defender more times then actually getting into the box.

Comment #37I think Jonas is back to offer his defensive skills which we need as we have be conceding lots of goals. Not too worried that him not providing much will be a big problem for this game as we have been scoring lots of goals recently as well, it’s our defense that’s letting us down. Jonas will cover Santon when he goes forward. Jonas may as well as a LB

Comment #38Glad to see some positive comments, especially about Jonas. Haven’t been great defensively all season, but think about how many more we have shipped without him in the team? I think today will be a tough one…would be sick with a loss, content with a draw..the next two are far more crucial in my opinion..a win of course would definitely ease some of the pressure going in to them..

Comment #39I have criticized Jonas in the past but now i have realized we really miss his work ethic. I had a bit of a debate with Tsunki i think the lad was. I now understand what he was talking about. Glad Jonas is back but only for his graft.
