I hear that Obertan 2day threw his toys out of the pram

  • 2 manxpie // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:40 PM

beattie wat are you expecting man!!
where on a run of 2 wins in 17 and you expect us to play free flowing attacking football and be full of confidence!?
where in a dog fight and with the players available it ain’t gonna be pretty.
jesus! if you think there’s a quick fix to this then you are demented a good point in my view!

  • 3 Beattie25 // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:40 PM

How long is the video 5 seconds?

  • 4 IITianToon // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:42 PM

Did Cisse get even 1 chance the whole game? :(

  • 5 tequilamag // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:43 PM

I see the hystericals are out in force again today. Crap game to watch but got to be happy we looked a lot tighter in defence. An away point when you are near the bottom is not to be sniffed at.

  • 6 newcastle10 // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:43 PM

the way pardew plays does not suit the players we have no wonder he wants andy carroll back so he can hoof it. imagine the football we would play if we had martienez or blanc in charge we would actually play the ball on the ground and look to score. i can only think of one shot their keeper had to save today. i think its time for a change before its too late is ashley blind does he even go to our matches anymore?

    We are relegated

  • 9 toonarmydownsouth // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:44 PM

    @4
Aye he did and instead of trying to control it or do anything with it he decided to hit the worlds tamest first time volley

  • 10 magpie6699 // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:44 PM

Yeah! Let’s see the video of last season’s game when we were playing really well and beating teams like Norwich for fun!
Oh – didn’t we lose 4-2? Perhaps Norwich are not such an easy touch?
Perhaps today’s result / performance not quite so bad as some people making out. I take other positives – Cabaye to return, Debuchy to get more settled in – maybe a new signing by next week? I can hope!

  • 11 JackButler // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:44 PM

Pardew ‘That performance shows our fans we are up for the fight, it was a good performance’

    REALLY???

  • 12 Tinman // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:44 PM

Pardew out before we go down

  • 13 Mancgeordie // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:45 PM

Manxpie exactly pal today was about keeping a clean sheet taking a point away and stopping the rot I am confident we will beat reading at home and go into the villa game looking a different side

  • 14 Beattie25 // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:45 PM

    manx

We still have the quality to play our way out of this position.

Even if there was confidence flowing in the team, with the tactics we saw today we’d struggle.

If anyone, anyone is happy with the way we played to day they must be demented.

I’m embarrassed by that performance, and unfortunately we have played like that all season.

That’s why we have 2 wins from 17.

The tactics are the worst I have ever seen, that is not an over statement.

Do you really think a lucky 1-0 win would be the w
    answer?

Only by playing good football can we build confidence. We can only play good football if we have the right tactics. If the players, management team and fans take any confidence from that performance today then I’m supporting the wrong club.

  • 15 JackButler // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:46 PM

    Lee Ryder ?@lee_ryder
AP said he was chasing “three or four” targets in the remaining weeks of the window #nufc

  • 16 Toon1978 // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:46 PM

Not looking pretty at all. What a horrible horrible season. This is worse then the season we got relegated. We didn’t have one shot on goal in the second half. SSN saying we are closing in on Remy. Hope to god we get these players in asap. Willow, Debuchy and Collo played well.

  • 17 Ketsbaia9 // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:48 PM

Needs to be 1 centre back, Sissoko, Remy and another striker. We have to keep Colo, if we don’t, we need 5 new players.

  • 18 nick_9 // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:48 PM

Manxpie – the football has been dire all season, we had a good spell of about 5 games and then all of a sudden it’s poor again. What on earth do they do in training? There’s a difference between wanting an entertaining 90 minutes and wanting us to do the basics right.

I’m starting to question our midfield, are they working hard enough to support the strikers or are they allowed to?

  • 19 Spreadthetoon // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:49 PM

Not much difference between this performance and the shower of shlte at Brighton IMO. For all those expecting loads of signings this window….forget it….AP mentioned 1 or possibly 2! FFS!!
A point is important and hopefully we can have a better performance next week – need to start to get wins! Think AP forgets that Cisse needs the ball @ his feet. We need this window – CAM/ 2 CBs and 1 W/ST…..but what’s the point…..MA don’t listen to the fans….and AP is unable to get the best out of his resources! V.V.Poor.

  • 20 magpie6699 // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:49 PM

newcastle10 – yes, let’s get a new manager in – like we did in the relegation season. That worked, didn’t it? After all, Guardiola and Mourinho will be gagging to come here!
Or maybe we should accept that this is a bad season, get behind the team and hope that things will improve.
I still remember pointing out the Everton situation when they had a dreadful first half season after a good one some years ago – but they didn’t sack Moyes and look how they get on.
I’m not saying I rate Pardew that highly – just being realistic. I reckon that sacking the manager now would be stupid.

  • 21 Beattie25 // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:50 PM

    Magpie66999

You goon, we lost last year due to the fact that we had Simmo and Perch playing at CB.

This year we didn’t lose because Norwich were as shit as us.

We played better last season with 10 men.

  • 22 nick_9 // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:51 PM

JB – if Pardew did say that then it just adds to my worries about him. So out of touch it’s unreal, ask the fans who attended the game I thy we’re pleased with the performance, it had little passion and fight. Even the most optimist fans are thankful for a point and a clean shear but we still moved nearer the drop zone

  • 23 toon1707 // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:52 PM

Highlights I watched the whole 90 min and the highlights could be 20 seconds long at a push lol

  • 24 Toon1978 // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:52 PM

    Spreadthetoon

Apparently AP said 3-4 signings. If ONE comes in then i am afraid it could be curtains. We need 4 at a minimum. Sorry but Obertan simply ain’t good enough imo.

  • 25 toonarmydownsouth // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:52 PM

    Beattie
Agree with you about the need for a LW and a CAM
Feel remy will prob play the LW role or even RW with marv LW and benny in the hole
However disagree confidence comes with good football
We need to stop leaking goals and get some points on the board along with dome new faces and spirits will lift and the confidence will follow
Not sure what you were expecting today seeing as we’ve lost our top scorer and now our captain wants out thought a point was a fair result and a good one but only if we build on that against reading.
I suppose seeing as they won today a few will be calling for brian mcdermott as our new manager!!
    Turkishfan
Fair points mate but i think there is much more going on at the club that are impacting our performances other than tactics
Also feel a couple of players are starting to show a certain undeserved arrigance on and off the pitch when they should be trying to make there football do the talking!
On today a point is a point but a very sloppy display again where we never got a hold of the game also feel there were some very lazy performances

  • 26 iggystinger // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:53 PM

  • 28 magpie6699 // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:53 PM

Beattie – no need for the insults. We’ve played plenty of games this season without our first choice players – and maybe a lot of teams would struggle without Cabaye, Ben Arfa and perhaps the Taylors in the squad.

  • 29 newcastle10 // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:54 PM

    magpie6699
we are in a worse position then we were in the relegation season. are you happy playing hoofball week in week out. and when did i ever suggest Guardiola or Mourinho there are other alternatives available. just take a look at swansea. so who do you blame for our performances the players !? its pardew who picks and sets up the team. we havent come back from being 1 down dis season this shows lack of fight and ideas.

  • 30 Rotonda heights // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:54 PM

i thought Debuchy was meant to be a marauding attacking full back but he looked like he was under orders to hold back.

I have never known any player give the ball away as much as jonas. nearly every single time he turns over possession.

Same could be said of Santon. Great attacking runs but no end product whatsoever.

Okore / Mirin, Remy of course would make things look a whole lot better.

    Krul

    Debuchy Colo???? Okore Santon

    Cabaye Anirta Marveaux

    Benny Cisse Remy

    9 internationals.

  • 31 Toon1978 // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:57 PM

Remy would be mad to sign for us lol. Llambies must have spiked to poor bugger’s coffee during talks. Good to get a draw but Norwich where close to nicking it in the end.

  • 32 Spreadthetoon // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:57 PM

AP’s primary concern is to contain the opposition….given the volume of midfielders we have in the squad and their abilities I find this not the right direction or balance. Keeping your players cagey and suppressing their creativeness is only going to invite teams to attack us. Also when Holt came on…..it gave Norwich the impetus and confidence to attack us…..in the last 20 minutes it was Krul who got us a point. We never even really looked like getting anything more than a point and at worse none. This is not the way to get away from the relegation fight….AP has the players, he just needs to deploy them to their strengths/ abilities. If you cannot see that then you must be completely blinded by our lack of form and think that its entirely down to injuries. I think today proved that conclusively!

  • 33 nick_9 // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:57 PM

JB – that’s shocking then, the man worries me. I really don’t believe Pardew brings any qualities to Newcastle at all, it’s just sad he has an 8 year deal and nobody would work for our owner. I’m all for consistency but don’t think he is the man to be consistent with.

If we win against Reading convincingly it will start to look a bit better. Every week it’s oh I’m sure we will do better next week, when does t stop?

  • 34 johnboy // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:57 PM

Apparently West Ham are interested in Bong!

I got that off Twitter though so not massively reliable!

Also we are last on match of the day tonight! You know it’s been a shocking game when that happens!

if it was joe kinnear in charge you would be calling for his head. its a results business at the end of the day. and if we are having a bad season can you tell me who is to blame?

  • 36 davybtoon // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:58 PM

Hopefully it’s remy sissohko hiadara n that Danish cb or mirin

  • 37 magpie6699 // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:58 PM

tads – agree with you about confidence coming from results. Apparently we played better in the 4-3 and even the 7-3 defeats. But did those good performances help our confidence? I don’t think so, whereas a clean sheet away from home might just bring a bit of belief back – plus the returning players.
Some body said the reason we would never score was because Jonas was playing. Possibly, but maybe that also helped stop Santon giving the freedom of the park to the opposing attack?

  • 38 Toon1978 // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:58 PM

    Another week to sign Remy…..OMG.

  • 39 manxpie // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:58 PM

beattie & nick tell me how many times this season we’ve had our best team and bench for two games in a row?
people who say well we’ve still got a better squad then these sort of teams! are you blind?
the point is we havent had most of our squad ALL season!
have a look at the glenn roeder interview who has been in the same position at the same club!
but i suppose thats just an excuse aswell

  • 41 rainrix // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:59 PM

Well its a point and a clean sheet, thats something i suppose. We looked decent at the back.

Pards is starting to annoy me. I dont see why we played so many long balls. It defies logic when cisse is barely 6 ft and our tallest player is krul. Im starting to question if pards does know what he’s doing

  • 42 davis_toons // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:59 PM

We got to win Reading at home and draw Villa, then try our best at the Chelsea.

If not, we are going down to fight in the slump. Two points less we will join the slump. Dog fight.

  • 43 catchy in norway // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:59 PM

i really dont know how anyone can defend pardew after that performance, he went there for a draw, draws are not good enough

ppl like tads saying who els could he play, , i wouød have been more happy with ranger on up front helping cisse out as today he had nothing

pardew got it all wrong today again,

i watched norwich , and they had a plan, get it out wide and get crosses in, but they never had a forward to finish anything off, wow lucky us
hoolahan and snodgrass ran the midfield today :(

jonas gave nothing other than a guy running around, he was poor very poor

santon perch and krul all played well

  • 44 Beattie25 // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:59 PM

    6699

Cabaye and Benny were playing at the start of the season.

Yet another person buying the injury excuse.

    TADS

Conceding goals is part and parcel of the game. Most decent teams have confidence in their ability to score them so buy conceding, no confidence is lost. We look like we cannot score, that is the single most worrying thing! We will not survive by drawing 0-0.

We need to attack and score, the quickest and most sure fire way to regain confidence. If we play again like today were going down.

A team that doesn’t score is more likely to be relegated than a team that can’t keep a clean sheet.

  • 45 davybtoon // Jan 12, 2013 at 5:59 PM

  • 46 Rotonda heights // Jan 12, 2013 at 6:01 PM

i wonder if anyone actually works on newcastle skills training at all, let alone pass and move.

  • 47 davybtoon // Jan 12, 2013 at 6:01 PM

Sissohko is the most important signing we could make

  • 48 Blaydon-Toon // Jan 12, 2013 at 6:02 PM

A bong to Remy dy the situation ! Plus 2 x CB and Sissoko

  • 49 Jamiemac // Jan 12, 2013 at 6:02 PM

To people saying we played hoofball today I don’t know what you were watching? The only player hoofing it was Willo because it seems like the only thing he can do with the ball at his feet. The lads were trying to play along the ground but were sloppy possibly from a lack of confidence.

A point away from home is always a decent result. Big positive that our defence looked a lot tighter today than it has recently.

  • 50 Readingmag // Jan 12, 2013 at 6:02 PM

Everyone moaning again…..fools…..a great point in the circumstances, players coming back… well done ….go on all say who would buy and pick….Reading (ironic my lad has a season ticket there) a win and were on a way

  • 51 magpie6699 // Jan 12, 2013 at 6:02 PM

newcastle-10 – JFK was a complete buffoon. Pardew won the manager of the season last year. Whatever we think of that, he must have been doing something right then? Last season we were luckier with injuries and scraped some uneasy wins.
My point is that changing the manager now, perhaps having some weeks of uncertainty and then (again) settling for whoever we can get, doesn’t sound like a good plan to me.

  • 52 nick_9 // Jan 12, 2013 at 6:03 PM

Manxpie that’s just a massive kop out for me and very easy to say. How about you go and have a look at the match day eleven from west ham onwards and tell me we should only have seven points. We’ve had more than enough quality players available but the man doesn’t know what to do with them, he’s an arrogant, stubborn finger puppet. This frustration isn’t solely on today’s game, it’s the other games I’ve had to sit through every fortnight and the away games I’ve watched. Awful.

  • 53 smugface // Jan 12, 2013 at 6:03 PM

Williamson is mid table championship. Jonas is a headless chicken. Anita is too light weight. Cisse had no support all game i felt sorry for him. He is not a target man. The space between midfield and him is bad tactics. The ball should be played on the floor like last season playing to players strengths.

  • 54 Spreadthetoon // Jan 12, 2013 at 6:03 PM

    Toon1978
AP said “one possibly two” players in on BBC. Then he says something different elsewhere….basically he’s full of shlte!

  • 55 magpie6699 // Jan 12, 2013 at 6:04 PM

Beattie – and our position was average / mid-table at the beginning of the season – the start of the real rot was losing 1-0 to West Ham.

  • 56 Toon1978 // Jan 12, 2013 at 6:05 PM

    davybtoon

Sissokho imo is not the most important potential signing. We already have Anita, Tiote and Bigi that can play there. For me we are screaming out for a centre back, 2 strikers and a left back. Santon…..hmmmmmm lol.

  • 57 manxpie // Jan 12, 2013 at 6:05 PM

so beattie you say we lost last year (when we were on a great run and a great season under our belt and in great confidence) because of 2!! players out of position
but this season we’ve had to play most of the season with players out of position on a crap run and no confidence and today we got a point!

  • 58 toonarmydownsouth // Jan 12, 2013 at 6:06 PM

    Beattie
But do you think after selling the player who had just over 50% of our goals we were confident of scoring?
I think after the amount of goals we conceded over christmas and colo wanting to leave a clean sheet was important like i said though im not disagreeing with you and i think the point will mean fcuk all if we dont go for the throat at reading!

    Catchy
So after a whole season of whinging like fcuk about 442 your now saying you would of played that today?
Unbelievable you cant even balance your own opinion let alone criticise others!!!

  • 59 Jamiemac // Jan 12, 2013 at 6:06 PM

Beattie prior to this game we scored 6 goals in 2 games vs Man U and Arsenal so what are you chatting? Deluded. You’re making a new negative point based on one performance. If we draw 3-3 next week I bet you say something along the lines of ‘it’s all well and good being able to score but if we can’t keep it tight at the back we’ll never win.’

You’re making excuses to be negative. Our club don’t need ‘fans’ like you

  • 60 boater // Jan 12, 2013 at 6:07 PM

I’m not sure I buy the injury excuses this season. It’s a contributing factor yes, but is Pardew therefore saying we should expect to plummet towards relegation without our first choice 11 each week? We were struggling earlier when key players were fit.

However what’s the point in sacking Pardew whilst transfer negotiations are taking place? If we fail to turn the corner with a full compliment of players – he won’t have any more excuses. If we do start to improve then everyone’s a winner.

  • 61 davybtoon // Jan 12, 2013 at 6:07 PM

pardew won manager of the year mainly cos of cabaye, ba, etc & our unbeaten run, where players realized they can finish top 4.. that was it.. he was making questionable subs last year…but this year proved he cant exploid players potential, but is forcing players to play his football style.. hes transforming classy midfielders into alan smith.

yes to play man u and teams in the top 4,, we might have a better chance with our best players,, but we dont play man u every week

    @Catchy
You’d have Ranger playing? Have you been at the Bong?
Rangers a poor championship player, never mind Premier League standard. He gives us nothing, creates nothing and just runs around like a headless turkey. Theres a reason his goal scoring record is abysmal.

People on here talk about pace like its the be all and end all. Its not. Obertan has pace to burn, but he doesnt use it properly. Technique and ability come into it. Rangers in the same bracket as the Ameobi brothers; they’re not going to do anything disasterous to cost you the game but they’re never going to win you the match. They are merely adequate place holders, they offer nothing special but they do just enough so they are not quite liabilities.

  • 70 nick_9 // Jan 12, 2013 at 6:12 PM

Boater exactly, if we can’t cope with a few injuries then surely the whole purple strategy needs revising and the squad players need improving. Anybody would think our team is solely hba, cabaye and Ba. The only long term injuries we have had is cabaye and Taylor. If Pardew is going to use the injuries as an excuse then he cannot tell me we only need 1 or 2 players.

    7 points from a possible 36
    8 points from a possible 39
2 wins 1 draw 9 defeats in our last 12 games

Apologies for not getting excited over our twentieth rubbish performances and a point that sees us slip lower in the table.

  • 71 Rotonda heights // Jan 12, 2013 at 6:14 PM

i don’t think people are hysterical, just thoroughly peed off.

2 wins out of 17 is a joke. we have been poor all season even before cabs and benny were injured.

we have these ball payers but still we hoof it. So many times krul hangs on the ball for the big boot instead of throwing it to someone to get an attack moving.

I have never seen such a cautious, negative defensive manager with such limited ideas, ie hoofball and trying to play offsides and who worries so much more about the opposition than imposing ourselves on them

Remy and a CB may just save pardew but it’s going to be very tight .

a kop out!! ha so nick tell me a team that has been as unsettled as us this season that are doing well and you didn’t answer my first question btw?
a settled team IMO is the most important ingredient in playing well and having confidence and i’m pretty sure managers would agree with that!
we haven’t had 1 all season plus our replacement players from last season have been out so all in all its been a shocking season and massivley unlucky.
do you think we’d be in this position if we had our full squad available all season??

That performance was shocking only idiots would think that was acceptable. No shots on target the corners are chronic god knows what they do in training, if Pardew the wanker thinks thats going to save his arse he must be as crazy as some of the daft twats on here calling it a good point gained. What planet are you on the Mackems are above us for Gods sake!

Some of you lot are clueless we just got an away point at a ground where man u and arsenal didn’t get anything. I suppose you would rather us go all out attack and lose the game 3-2 or something like the arsenal and man u games. Majority of the players weren’t playing hoofball it was just the usual suspect. Clearly a team lacking confidence unfortunately anita had his worst game for a long time and jonas was poor as usual, obertan the less said the better and he even had the cheek to throw a little tantrum when substituted. I am worried about the lack of power in the midfield when tiote inst playing i know hes been really poor this season but a midfield 3 of anita, perch and marv are so light weight and don’t win any 50/50s. Still I think I am much more optimistic than the majority of fans on here and once we have cabaye in full swing and HBA back we will climb the table. Until then we need to grind out results which is what we did here. If we win next week this point becomes a good one.

    catchy i’m missing the point!
thats the most stupid post you’ve made for a while!
your missing the point’s that where low on confidence, our injuries, our unsettled team, the collo situation and a new player in his 1st game!
against a settled team who you have PRAISED for all the good football they played this season!
i say that was a good point under all them circumstances

“colo wanting to leave” shouldnt be a reason for our failure.
Did any other club often having players wanting to leave?
