Alan Pardew – Several Signings Soon For Newcastle

11:17 am, Sunday, January 13th, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 29 Comments

Things seem to be heating up in the transfer window for Newcastle, with potentially a couple of signing being made this week – we hope so.

Alan Pardew – pursuits for players warming up

This is what Alan Pardew had to say in the Sunday Sun today:

“We are not pursuing just one player, it’s three or four, and they all seem to be warming up a little bit. We need a bigger pool of players and we will try to deal with that in this window.”

“It’s been a strange season and I have probably worked twice as hard. All I can do is get my players to go out and turn in an honest performance that Newcastle fans can be proud of.”

“The league table does concern me. We don’t want to be down there, but have to face that reality. But at least today as Newcastle manager I was able to put quality players on the pitch, when I’ve had to play youngsters.”

“It was good to see Yohan Cabaye and Jonas Gutierrez on the pitch. It was a real solid performance away from home. It reminded me of us last year and that bodes well.”  “We now have Reading at home and then we go to Aston Villa, so this was a big day.”

“We then play Chelsea at home and if we can get our best players on the park then we can give them a game. Getting Cabaye on was a massive boost for us and he will start next Saturday.”

It’s good that Alan says that three or four potential signings are warming up a little, and maybe we can get some through the door this week.

And we’re a little surprised he says Newcastle league position – we dropped one place to 16th yesterday – is not worrying him – it’s scaring the living daylight out of me.

And I’ve heard a lot of   “It’s only a game”   from my wife Madeline over the last few weeks – make that two months. 😀

Sky Sports News have reported Newcastle are very close to signing Loic Remy, and the Mail think we have had a £10M bid accepted by Marseilles.

But we also need some defenders in, and it would be good if we can sign Valenciennes left back Gaetan Bong, who seems to be almost an ideal player for Newcastle, very fast and a solid tacker.

Here’s hoping.

More players for him to wreck.

  • 2 Magpies-till-d3ath // Jan 13, 2013 at 11:22 AM

    Remy
    Bong
    M’Biwa
    M’Vila

    Probably the most realistic targets.

Why didn’t we, if true, use this transfer policy in the summer. We all new we needed strengthening then. Now it’s cost us this season and more than likely Europe for next season.

Ed – please stop making up quotes for your headlines.

  • 5 JDdubai // Jan 13, 2013 at 11:25 AM

Seriously who is that between Pardew and Obertan on the banner? I swear it is Bassong from when he joined us…..

  • 6 cyprus // Jan 13, 2013 at 11:25 AM

    Ed,
it seems he’s saying he’s worried, just like you and the rest of us. Way fewer of those ‘sunny valley’ (or whatever crap, sorry to that group :) posts these days

What Pardew wants & what Pardew gets are two completely different things. It’s not like he hasn’t said this before like.

I think he has very little to do with transfers, so anything he says about them, I dont usually take much notice.

The club are normally tight lipped over their transfer business (which is good) but this time I suspect that Pardew has been given the nod by the board to say that there could be three or four through door in this transfer window.

If the club doesn’t get three or four he is going to look really stupid. He must be confident or foolish as part of his job is reliant on others as he doesn’t do the transfer business himself as its Carr and his team who do the scouting and groundwork with Charnley and Llambias doing the contractual and money side.

No smoke without fire so perhaps it true. Hope it is.

if we get in remy, m’vila, sissoko, m’biwa, douglas and bong next season we will be heading for champions league and this season we head above top 10

  • 11 Sinner // Jan 13, 2013 at 11:38 AM

Remy, M’vila/Sissoko and Isimat Mirin would do nicely for me. :)

“The league table does concern me. We don’t want to be down there, but have to face that reality.” – Ed stop jumping the gun he does say he’s worried like the rest of us.

If we get Remy in we will be a threat going forward. We would then have two possibly three players that can dribble past players in the team in HBA, Remy and Marveaux. That is much better and improves our chances for survival. Remy is class though and his pace and technique will cause defenders to pee in their pants, just hope we can sign him up already, the waiting kills me.

JDdubai – It has to be Bigirimana on the banner right? I’ve asked myself that question before lol I agree with someone that keeps mentioning Raylor needs to be included as all of our signings are and he’s been here longer.

In what way was yesterdays performance reminiscant of last year? We played terribly lol, pardew is just makeing up positives when the only real positive was cabaye got game time.. And he’s just going to ruin him by playing him as an advanced playmaker which is gonna take the tenacity out of his natural game, he is a deep lying playmaker that should be playing where Anita and tiote play where he has played his entire career, where he played the entirety of last season when he was at his best, moveing a creative player higher up the pitch isn’t necisarely going to make him create more, it’s just going to make him become dissalusioned and unconfident when things don’t go his way, pardew is a muppet, I’m not jumping on no bandwagons as I’ve said this since long before he was manager of the toon, but last season he rode the remnants of the spirit instilled by Chris hughton, and this season he has bombed hard, just like he has done at every single club he’s ever managed, I just hope the team can rally in spite of him and atleast keep us in the premier league coz if we do stay up it wil have bugger all to do with Pardews managerial ability.

Remy, sissoko, douglas,m’biwa, would lift any team in the world, I realy think we have 5-6 top players, 20-30 mill would take us to next level, any team in the world would have Ben Arfa now,he’s been a huge miss,I do Agree we need strength and power, pace in are team, hopefully are owner opens his wallet

The Sunday Sun says on its front cover (from Pardew) that we are “to sign 4 players”. On the back cover it says “three to four players” and in an article inside “two players”.
    It’s all b******s.

we let guthrie, best, smith and lovenkrands leave, good squad players and experienced and replaced them with nothing, with and extra comp and to maintain the good season we had last, these were awful mistakes and all we got was soft lame excuses when trying to sign debuchy and others. in effect we need those players replaced plus ba plus 2 defenders as we lack badly, 6 quality signings! this needs investment obviously mr ashley

Players coming vack in need to be hitting the ground running, not at all easy to do if you have been out a couple of months plus, new players coming in need to acclimitise to the premiership which again is not easy, that said cabYe tiote cisse ba all did that when they arrived, it took benny quite a While to be fair, games Re running out and pardews ractics look like uts going to be all hands on deck like a lot of last season, his comment were he said yesterdYs percormance reminded him a lot of last season summs the fella up for me, we got a point and dropped a place in the league, if that happens on the last day of we were 4th bottom we are down.

We need positivity not negativity especially at home, the clock is ticking alan, a bit less of the bull about how the fans got a real performance yesterday, that was an insult to them for me, manGer of the year last season, dimatteo wins the champs league he got the bullet, no one is safe, we have played the worst football in the prem in my opinion all season, the buck stops with you as manager. Get them up and running get the poitivity goin again and tactics changed or we are in for an even more desperate dogfight Mr Pardew!

    @ 21 +22+23+24 ?

You got Finger trouble and impatience ? It takes me two clicks on the submit before my post comes through too!
Never mind, Lynny, there are more serious things we have to address!

I don,t see your problem with the shortened “EPL”? Its only an abbreviatiaon after all, and i don,t use it anyway, but maybe i will now!

EPL! EPL! EPL! EPL! EPL! EPL! EPL! EPL! EPL! EPL!

Just to see how much i can egg you on!

And for all of you others, that is Sebastion Bassong beside Pardew! Biri is beside Collo me-thinks but Ed has just placed an old picture above !

TDS- If Ed wants to use quotes for his pieces then just let him?
Whats the problem with you all this morning? If it was,nt for ED then this Blog would,nt exist anyway !

Plus, ED,s wife Madeline is perfectly correct, at the end of the day, for some Football is only a game!

An extremely important game for some but non the less, just a game after all?
