Things seem to be heating up in the transfer window for Newcastle, with potentially a couple of signing being made this week – we hope so.
Alan Pardew – pursuits for players warming up
This is what Alan Pardew had to say in the Sunday Sun today:
“We are not pursuing just one player, it’s three or four, and they all seem to be warming up a little bit. We need a bigger pool of players and we will try to deal with that in this window.”“It’s been a strange season and I have probably worked twice as hard. All I can do is get my players to go out and turn in an honest performance that Newcastle fans can be proud of.”
“The league table does concern me. We don’t want to be down there, but have to face that reality. But at least today as Newcastle manager I was able to put quality players on the pitch, when I’ve had to play youngsters.”
“It was good to see Yohan Cabaye and Jonas Gutierrez on the pitch. It was a real solid performance away from home. It reminded me of us last year and that bodes well.” “We now have Reading at home and then we go to Aston Villa, so this was a big day.”
“We then play Chelsea at home and if we can get our best players on the park then we can give them a game. Getting Cabaye on was a massive boost for us and he will start next Saturday.”
It’s good that Alan says that three or four potential signings are warming up a little, and maybe we can get some through the door this week.
And we’re a little surprised he says Newcastle league position – we dropped one place to 16th yesterday – is not worrying him – it’s scaring the living daylight out of me.
And I’ve heard a lot of “It’s only a game” from my wife Madeline over the last few weeks – make that two months. 😀
Sky Sports News have reported Newcastle are very close to signing Loic Remy, and the Mail think we have had a £10M bid accepted by Marseilles.
But we also need some defenders in, and it would be good if we can sign Valenciennes left back Gaetan Bong, who seems to be almost an ideal player for Newcastle, very fast and a solid tacker.
