Breaking News – Newcastle Have £10M Bid For Remy Accepted

10:38 am, Sunday, January 13th, 2013 by Ed Harrison · 58 Comments

It seems that Newcastle are being very aggressive in this transfer window this month, and we have to be, if we are to save our Premier League status this season.

Loic Remy of Marseille has attracted interest from Newcastle United

Loic Remy – bid accepted?

There was some news last night that Newcastle would be signing Loic Remy this week, and in time for the game against Reading next Saturday.

And today the Mail is reporting they think  Newcastle have had a bid for Remy accepted, and it’s supposed to be around £10M.

We shouldn’t just assume this is a done deal, because it’s Sunday and lots of news is just made up to sell the Sunday papers, but this news is at the very least – encouraging.

It’s also consistent in that Derek LLambias is thought to be in France now working on some important transfer business, and its a follow-up meeting from last week when he met with Marseilles officials about Remy.

And Sky Sports reported last night they thought Newcastle were getting very close to signing the 26 year-old French International.

If this news is true, we see no problems with Newcastle then agreeing terms with the 26 year-old, and if the transfer is pushed through in the next couple of days,  we could even see Remy make his debut at home to Reading on Saturday – a game we must win.

Remy’s capture would also bolster the crowd for Saturday, and we need a full house against Reading to cheer our lads on to victory,  and scare the living daylights out of the Reading players.

This may be jumping the gun a bit, but we have to hope this latest news is true.

Here’s some YouTube video of the player, and some of it’s even on his football.

Aggressive for me would be players over the line, not waiting for them to assess their options for the next two weeks. If these players suddenly decide in two weeks that they have better options elsewhere and we don’t have a plan b I’m gonna be majorly p155ed off

hopefully this will go through now……..
    however
its alot of money for this regime , hoping pricetag does not mean we scrimp and save on other targets (cb) and personally Sissoko at 3.5 mill is a no brainer ….

If Remy comes here this week then that shows the kind of intent we need in this window.

I said all along there is just no way that even a greedy, compulsive gambler like Ashley could ignore the implications of us getting relegated again and I’m still sure we will bring in at least another 2 after (if we do get him) Remy.

    Fingers and everything else crossed!

Lets not get overly carried away, he doesnt have a good scoring record, he has been pretty crap by all accounts this season- possibly due to injuries etc but are we expecting him to switch leagues in January after an ijury plagued season and substitue roles and hit the ground running in the PL?

99% of players dont have the impact that Cisse did last season, personally think he will take a bit of time to get upto speed and it wont be til he gets a good pre-season in that he will be upto speed.

Dont mean to be depressing when we finally have some good news but people get far too carried away on here.

Sammy is a GREAT player was all I heard last season, Fergie should be playing,, all our youngsters are gonna be world class, We have plenty of wingers its fine when I pointed out in the summer that we had no proven top notch replacement if HBA gets injured…..Too many people let their imagination get the better of them on here and anyone realistic is seen as negative.

If we get him then great, just have realistic expectations thats all…

If the clowns that run this fine club had any balls! We would have signed him and Douglas last week and we would of took 3 points yesterday… By the time we sign anyone (last day) I fear it will be to little to late.

‘Standing next to gypsies gives your council tax cancer’ are the type of stories you get in the daily fail. I would even be sceptical of todays date printed on the front of that rag!

  • 17 GazMcC-NUFC // Jan 13, 2013 at 10:52 AM

JDDubai I couldn’t agree more mate, I think we’d do we’ll to get 5 goals out of Remy if he signs in Jan. we need to get two CB’s in because I don’t see Colo staying if I’m honest. As someone else has already pointed out, if Sissokho at 3.5 is available then he has to be snapped up. Right age bracket too. Must win against reading and villa for me to really ease the pressure.

  • 18 GeordieDan // Jan 13, 2013 at 10:55 AM

Sissoka said himself that he plans to stay where he is until the Summer now.

But then again that’s what Debuchy pretty much said before the window opened.

I think the £3 million or so for him is a complete no brainer as well and if he ends up at Mackemland I’d be very annoyed.

I think our French connection and his relationship with Cabaye and Debuchy should be enough to get him here though.

  • 19 toon1707 // Jan 13, 2013 at 10:55 AM

Dubai remy will have an immediate impact as it will lift the fans and players also he has power and pace something we lack. I think he will start banging them in as he is a quality player. Also on Sammi he is terrible and that’s putting it mildly he does the odd flash of half decent football but how he and ranger make the bench before Campbell just shows the level of intelligence pardew has

  • 20 LenDixon // Jan 13, 2013 at 10:57 AM

Funny, when I watch that video I don’t actually see any evidence of football skill……he’s just dancing like a circus performer and half the shots are missing the goal.

Apologies dude you are right always get those 2 messed up!!

  • 22 spennymoor-mag // Jan 13, 2013 at 10:58 AM

If this is true we need to quickly follow it up with 2 quality cb and get sissoko this guy is twice the player tiote is. An absolute power house very similar if not better than Diame of west ham. I read that he is available at 3.5 million. This would be an absolute steal for this price. Also the scum are sniffing about. Get him snapped up straight away!!

  • 23 GeordieDan // Jan 13, 2013 at 10:59 AM

Oh and he looks quick too! Get it done, and isnt the number 7 shirt free?

  • 30 GeordieToon89 // Jan 13, 2013 at 11:09 AM

Remys scoring record is good except this season when he’s started 10 and scored 3 with 1 assist(more than Ba had all this season)… he’s made 13 sub appearances

    12/13 season: 10 starts – 3 goals – 1 assist
    11/12 season: 43 starts – 22 goals – 6 assists
    10/11 season: 32 starts – 18 goals – 3 assists
    09/10 season: 35 starts – 16 goals – 3 assists
    08/09 season: 35 starts – 13 goals – 2 assists

    Starts – 155 Goals – 72 Assists – 15

This is a promotional video, if that was his highlights, god help us. Am not impressed, would prefer someone who still has the will to prove himself, he seems to be a party lad, similar to ranger. Would prefer a player from the lower divisions,Austin, Shane long etc

  • 34 keeping the faith // Jan 13, 2013 at 11:14 AM

To say remy won’t make an impact is stupid. And to say Sammy is a great footballer. Our kids have had chances and they mediocre at best. We need new signings to help us now like remy. Sammy fergie etc have not helped us so far to the level we need.

TADS – Mathieu Valbuena, we know close to Loïc Rémy, spoke to Telefoot on the case of the French striker that is sent especially in England. According to Mathieu Valbuena, the player would want to keep him in the jersey Olympian. “He wants to continue the adventure. This is someone who needs support is important. He was a striker to score goals need to regain confidence

I Dont believe it. Dont see why Barton would say he’s staying put the other day, if he was joining.

  • 45 nick_9 // Jan 13, 2013 at 11:22 AM

His stats look good but having watched several videos of him in YouTube just now most of those goals were scored from the right side of the pitch, I was under the impression he played on the left? All in all he looks like he has something about him and I wasn’t aware he had played so little this season. I think some fans are underestimating the lift this could have on our current crop of players and fans.

  • 48 TheSingingBit // Jan 13, 2013 at 12:18 PM

I can’t understand why the hell we are not going after Moussa Sissoko. 3.5 million is a bargain for a player of his potential. If the Mackems sign him I will turn up at Blue Flame and slap Pardew round the face with a Kipper.

  • 53 numba9 // Jan 13, 2013 at 1:50 PM

we let guthrie, best, smith and lovenkrands leave, good squad players and experienced and replaced them with nothing, with and extra comp and to maintain the good season we had last, these were awful mistakes and all we got was soft lame excuses when trying to sign debuchy and others. in effect we need those players replaced plus ba plus 2 defenders as we lack badly, 6 quality signings! this needs investment obviously mr ashley

  • 54 gooniesforlife // Jan 13, 2013 at 1:53 PM

I do think this will be a good signing, I know he has not played much and is low in confidence but I think if he had been banging them in for om then we wouldn’t be getting him so it has kind of helped us, I also think this signing will be good for Ben arfa, they are both young tricky French players who try to impress the crowd so I can see them both trying to show each other how good they are, any time Ashley puts his hand in his pocket has to b good so I for one fancy a debut goal for remy, that’s if he comes of course as until I here he is in Newcastle I.e medical then I will just wait

Really hope this guy is as good or even better then BA. If not we will still be losing money and the quality of play.

For 10 million. we can still keep BA with us.
