We thought Fabricio Coloccini had a good game yesterday at Norwich, given all the stuff going on in his private life, and the shocking news on Friday that he had asked to leave Newcastle immediately, to return to South America.
Loic Remy – Newcastle in the driver’s seat
Alan Pardew has said the matter will be sorted out this week, one way or the other, and we’d love for the Newcastle captain to stay on Tyneside through the end of the season – because we need him.
And there could be a second piece of good news this week, with Sky Sports reporting that Newcastle United are moving closer to signing Loic Remy from Marseilles.
Newcastle are trying to tie up a quick deal, and although Spurs are rumored to have become interested, Newcastle will try to tie up the deal in the next few days.
Derek LLambias is due to meet for a second time with Marseilles officials in France, and we have tho think Newcastle will offer a more than decent fee to get Loic Remy to Tyneside before next Saturday’s crucial game against Reading at St. James’ Park.
Other clubs such as Arsenal, Queens Park Rangers, Schalke 04 and Napoli have all expressed an interest in the 17 times capped French International striker, but Sky Sports is reporting Newcastle almost have Remy tied up.
Newcastle may surprise us this month, and we wouldn’t be too shocked if the club recruit at least four players, and the club have already signed Mathieu Debuchy, who had a decent enough debut at Norwich yesterday in the 0-0 draw, and getting Remy through the door before next Saturday would be more good news for long suffering Geordie fans.
But Newcastle will not stop there, and we expect at least a minimum of two more players to come through the door, in addition to Debuchy and Remy, and if Coloccini leaves, we expect Newcastle to bring an another center back to replace him.
