Marseilles, Newcastle Reach Agreement On Fee – Remy In Talks

Things seem to be moving very quickly as Newcastle are very near to signing Marseilles striker Loic Remy and Joey Barton has wished his team-mate all the best and has told him what to expect at the Newcastle club – so does that mean it’s official. :D.

Loic Remy -300x168

Loic Remy – should soon be a Newcastle player

And it’s getting very near to being a done deal it seems,  as Marseilles President Vincent Labrune has now confirmed the following to the RMC Sport radio station in France:

“We have an agreement in principle with Newcastle, it is true,” “We have therefore given Loic permission to chat with them. For the rest, we must wait patiently.”

And it is being reported that Remy has left the Marseilles squad preparing for their game against Sochaux  this afternoon, in order to talk to Newcastle and possibly agree to terms,  and then the medical in Newcastle would be the next step, and perhaps he could fly back with Derek LLambias,  who is in France negotiating the deal.

And Joey Barton, who Newcastle allowed to move to QPR on a free transfer eighteen months ago, even though he one year left on his contract, tweeted this today:

“Good luck to Loic in Newcastle. Don’t worry I’ve told him what to expect. Great guy. Perfect club for him.”

Nothing is official yet – but with any luck Newcastle could have the lad signed sometime tomorrow, and that would mean he would be available for the game against Reading next Saturday, and could also have a full week of training with his new team mates.

And if Newcastle can pull this off, Derek LLambias appears to have done a good job in getting this deal completed so soon, and Alan Pardew said this morning the Managing Director was working on three or four deals, not just one, and that some were warming up.

There could be even more than one signing in the coming week.

Very good news. Hopefully there are no issues with wages and his medical. This will be an excellent signing if we pull this off.

Great news! Throw him in, the sooner Obertan is out of the team the better. No passion, no grit, no confidence. What a waste of talent…

We all know how good our new starting IX is on form, would match any team in uk, most in Europe. Question is, how often will they all be playing together on form? Unfortunately there will always be a perch or Jonas in it. Back up players aren’t good enough, do like perch but won’t win us trophies.

Exciting, my only worry is his form of the last 6 months or so, hoping it’s not a torres situation!

Then again, Remy, Cisse and HBA as a front three is pretty saucy!

Can anyone tell me how they think Remy and
    repost

Cisse will link up together. Do we see Remy as part of a three upfront with either Marv/HBA tucked behind Cisse or do we see this as a potential partnership in a 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1…..either way who sits at the top and holds up play. Not sure playing Cisse on the wings has improved his game….sadly his first touch was not great yesterday, but he had no support and very poor service until Cabaye came on where there was something? Btw has Cisse lost a little pace this season………really hard to tell with him running around in acres of space without any black and white nearby?

Btw fingers crossed Remy deal is signed up and sealed…..it will be a gr8 signal to other players thinking of joining us…especially if we already have signed 2 v.v.good int’l french players this window!

if ba passed his medical at chelsea, trust me Loic Remy wont have any trouble here, his club president told last moth that there is no issues with his past injuries and he is fit and ready to play, but giganac was back and he is the main striker and is scoring goals, sooo.. he is availiable, and we have bought him. Cisse Ba wasn’t good, but Cisse Remy should work well, and we should play on the ground and pass the ball, Alan knows that kind of football and he wanted it from the start but there was other excusses, so if this time we won’t play a beatifully and WINING games since cabaye is back then i will be mad at pardew.. Not now thou, i supported and will support him all through this rough run..

If we can get this deal overthe line;and I think we will, then I think some teams are in for a hammering in the back end of the season, starting with Reading next week, because the confidence this signing (and Debuchy) will give the squad is immeasurable.

The thought of Loic, Papiss and later on Ben Arfa up front is awesome.

This signing may even be enough to persuade Colo to stay.

If the Remy transfer happens and it’s looking likely, if we then could bring in experienced CB and those two young lads from Burnley that Transfer sage said were in Newcastle I’d be over the moon, but me being me will still have a bit of a moan why it wasn’t done in the summer, and those Ashley supporters starting to come out and call people like me morons who don’t like like the Ashley regime might want to remember that this seemingly spurt in transfer activity doesn’t seem to me like he’s wanting to take us to the next level but rather more the case of keeping his eye on the supposed 70M TV money next year, I reiterate no matter what people think about Pards and I am starting to lose faith in him as well if all these supposed targets were brought in during the summer, Spurs , Arsenal and maybe Everton would be seriously looking over their shoulders at us.

Thinking about the snow – seem to recall the story about when Tino arrived in Newcastle to biting winds and snow. He was said to be wondering why he had come – then they took him to the Bigg Market to see the lasses in their micro-mini skirts – and he changed his mind!!

    Kets
Manu are not just good in attack, their team attacks as a whole.
The commentators yesterday on MOD said that the difference between City,Chelsea n Manu is that when they all play well they usually win but when they play badly only Manu win and that’s a lot of the time.
Evra’s way better than Santon,Debuchy could be as good If not better than Rafael.
Collo is a very different player to Vidic, don’t know if he’s better though.
Vidic is way better in the air, both in attack and defence and he’s quicker.
Collo is a better ball player.
Ben Arfa is a better player than Valencia I agree on his day and Nani I don’t even rate,he’s just another Obertan if ya ask me-little end product.
Cleverly Carrick and Scholes is a great midfield, they pressurize and get the ball back when lost and keep the ball well when they have it unlike our Jonas,Tiote,Anita midfield
Now I believe that if we had Ben Arfa(LW),Cabaye,Tiote (back to his old self),Anita then we’d have a midfield to reckon with

    —–cisse——-

i think we will try and use remy in a hba role. for me this formation is perfect because you can make it more attacking/defensive with 0/1 sub. and with a small squad thats what we need imo a versitile formation, for example if needed/wanted you swap cabaye and anita and put marv as CAM.

    another option that looks good

    ———krul———
    deb–willo–colo–sant
    -cabaye-tiote-anita—-
    hba—–cisse—-remy

again the midfield can be easily made more attacking/defensive if needed.

Santon’s been the best wingback in the league this season. He’ll certainly be getting player of the season for us. Evra was very good when he was at Monaco, but he doesn’t get as forward as much as he used to.

i think after remy we will get two defenders if colo is leaving (probably Tomkins or Okore and Mirin or Douglas), and Bong in for competition and for Simpson, who i believe will be sold (as Santon can Cover RB if needed).

That french midfielder M.Sissoko will probably be on a precontract or something simmilar to Cabaye’s arival.

But i don’t think that we will be paying 8M for M’Vila (or whatever is he called)

I agree. Over the moon if we sign Remy – as I was with Debuchy – and I’ll be very happy if we add a CB and keep Colo, but there are serious serious questions as to why it was not done earlier – especially after releasing 3 very handy squad players.

Pardew keeps saying that they ‘made a mistake thinking they were OK’, but it seems to me that he’s just covering for the board. Pardew spent the whole summer talking about how desperate he was for signings, then magically changes his mind the second he realises they’re not coming. I feel bad for the guy to be honest.

If this happens i’ll be very happy, but am a little surprised by this signing.

Remy is great but not sure where he fits in. I think he might be put on the wing.

He is similar to both Ba an Cisse insome respects but i don’t see him complimenting Cisse, just like Ba didn’t.

Remy is a pure striker. On the plus side he is quick, real quick. Paciest player in our squad by a mile. On the downside he has no left foot.

I would have liked more of a CF, ballplaying all around type striker, like Persie, Rooney etc.

Yeah it gives us the ability to be fluid without any change in personnel i.e. subs which can be very advantageous.
I guess my main concern is link up play with Cisse and how we get the lad banging in goals for us like he did last season…..like I say I think Remy is gr8 news but as his assist rate is not prolific,,,,what I am asking is how the two will work together. Don’t want to see another Ba/Cisse partnership where there is a conflict of interests……would like to see another striker as we’re still short up front! Good news any how just intrigued in the detail as to how they’re gonna work together.

We could sell Tiote to Man Utd for £15m and sign Sissoko and M’vila for of combined total of £10m. Man Utd also want Cabaye for £20m. I would’ve rather seen us get rid of Tiote than Ba. We should’ve renewed Ba’s contract.

Yeah i have to echo what others have said that it should have been done in the summer, it has wasted a season for us but at least we know the club are trying now eh? If we do sign Remy and a Cb you have to look at some of the recent signings and see that surely we must have improved overall on quality.

    In:
    Bigi
    Anita
    Debuchy
    Remy ?
    Cb ?

    Out:
    Guthrie
    Lovenkrands
    Smith
    Best
    Forster
    Ba

Biggest loss is Ba and its a shame we didnt bring in a third choice striker to replace best and lover but we might still yet. This window could give us a much needed lift, if we get a cb i will feel much better about things despite the past 15 games. I’m not expecting miracles from new signings but we have a good record lately and its the intent that counts.
