Newcastle Going After Moussa Sissoko

We had wondered why Newcastle were not moving more aggressively for Toulouse midfielder Moussa Sissoko, who is available for a bargain basement price of £3.5M, but the report of two days ago said that Sunderland were the favorites to sign the 22 year-old French International.

Moussa Sissoko _2854175

Mopussa Sissoko – has laready held talks with newcatsle

But the Daily Mail is reporting today that Newcastle are making a move for the 5 times capped French International, and the Magpies could still beat local rivals Sunderland in signing the central midfielder.

The news is that the 22-year-old is due to have talks with Sunderland today, but apparently he has already been in talks with both Newcastle United and Juventus.

Since we assume all three clubs can meet the £3.5M fee, it seems a matter of what the wages offered will be from each of the three clubs, and which club Moussa would want to join, apart from the wage deal he can get.

It’s interesting that Loic Remy is almost certainly going to sign for Newcastle, after he rejected wages from QPR which are said to be twice the wage Newcastle will offer the French striker – so money isn’t always everything with these top players.

And given the surge in transfer business at Newcastle recently,  with Mathieu Debuchy signed for €7M and Loic Remy seemingly on the verge of signing for €10M, we wouldn’t rule Newcastle out of the hunt for Sissoko, by any means

We have to think Moussa is one of the three or four players Newcastle are said to be close to signing – at least that’s according to Newcastle manager Alan Pardew yesterday.

Erm where in the world does it say tiote will go? We need back ups when he’s suspended and injured which wouldn’t supprise me since it’s always one or the other. Good business on the outlook for us… for a change.

Last year we would have got 20 mill plus for tiote, now we’d be doing extremely well to recoup 10 million, he has been a disgrace this season.. Delighted with Sissoko, 10 times the player.. a Michu type bargin ha

This guy would be a wonderful signing for us, he is an amazing young player. For the money being asked it would be rude not to take him.

If the scum are paying his airfare – even better pmsl

Why do people want Tiote gone, so hes having a hard season this time, but so are all the squad…. not one player has had consistancy and at the end on the day we are seriously lacking in ”Purple” players, yet you all seem to want to sell one (a proven EPL player courted by the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd and Man City) for unproven players…. surely it would be wise to keep toite and MA just fork out some ”investment” into the club to build DEPTH.

According to the mail we’re more focused on Okore, but that’s just a rumour. I definitely don’t believe everything I hear, just hadn’t seen it mentioned on here before.

I’m not saying tiote should go,even though he has become a disinterested liability this season. We should not forget MA has always said the club will, pay for itself, wipe its own nose and become a selfeffiecant club.

If u want to play 4-3-3 even with Sissoko we wud just have about enough in Anita, tiote, Sissoko, Cabaye and cud do wit another.
Marveaux can play in there guti is 2nd rate there (and anywhere?) and Bigi may not be ready yet I.m.o. Perch is average in there.

@AS MAGS we are still only working our way through the AC money from before, remember the 35 million promised to be reinvested….plus the our EPL money from finishing 5th last season, unless that doesnt fall into the self sufficient ideal lol

Think back to a 35 million that hasn’t been spent yet that is where this money is coming from. Since pardew took over we have received 45 mil? (+ Barton, smith and Guthrie off the wage) has that been fully reinvested yet??

This is a no brainer for us imo. I think I remember reading that Carr was watching him about this time last year so he must know we are long term admirers. Also, I find it hard to believe that Remy will accept half the wages QPR offered him from us, as Ed suggests. Our negotiations are on-going on that front and we don’t really know for sure what QPR offered him, only what journos have speculated. Really think Tiote needs to shape up or ship out. His value will have plumetted off the back of his performances this season and MA won’t like that one bit. This looks like a great deal if we can get it over that ever illusive ‘line’!

Zero I think if you do sums the Carroll money has been spent on fees and wages. They explained all that at start of last season, whether we like it or not that’s the way they work. Even if they didn’t. O it that way I think you’ll find the Carroll money is way over spent now.

Tiotes poor season is down to one thing and that is not having a good enough creative partner beside him i.e. Cabaye. Anita had a terrible start and I’m still not sure about him ( also had some good performances don’t get me wrong), perch is a defender, Bigi is the same as him, Gutierrez- well the less said the better. This has meant tiote has felt owness on himself to get forward and create which has made him look poor. Once he gets back in beside cab and possibly Sissoko and mvila(haha we wish) he will get back to his best. Tiote will cover every defender, block , man mark (Rooney last year) and tackle. He is the best in the game at it so don’t wish him away cos you’ll regret it.

Speak of the devil. I was just chatting about this lad..

Havn’t seen much of him, but if he is the real deal get him in. All depending how much we have of course. If it means the difference between a centreback and a world class CB. I’ll rather make do with what we have got. Plenty CM’s at NUFC at the minute.

NUFC Steve – disagree amigo- Tiote cannot blame not having a creative midfielder beside him for not being able to control the ball or pass it ten yards or giving away countless free-kicks. Anita got up to speed after about 3 weeks playing in Prem and has been our most consistent player ever since. Tiote was excellent last year but he loses the ball in dangerous areas alot this season and, as
has been pointed out already, he also is unavailable for selection far too often.

“San Lorenzo have only confirmed they want Coloccini, but say that he must find a way out of his current contract and reach a settlement with Newcastle as they can’t afford a transfer fee.

Matias Lammens said: “We can offer him a very good contract in the case of him rescinding, but San Lorenzo have nothing left to do with regards to the negotiating.”

He also told Argentinian radio stations they want a decision by next week.”

Am I missing something here? Where do this San Lorenzo lot get off? Maybe we should give Falcao the same sort of ultimatum. – we’ve got nee dosh but make up your mind fast or we’ll look elsewhere! …Love it!

He is out of contract in the summer. Surely we should sign him on a pre-contract. More chance of getting him that way cause we could afford to give him a bit more wages than Sunderland could.

Sissoko will be a massive signing.

Tiote, Anita, Bigi are all very much defensive midfielders who aren’t as accomplished going forward and we have cabaye who isn’t as accomplished defending.

Sissoko is very much a box-to-box midfielder who can offer both. An all round POWERHOUSE. The prospect of this team is immense:

    Krul
    Debuchy-Colo-New CB-Santon
    Tiote-Sissoko
    HBA-Cab-Remy
    Cisse

    Then back ups we have:
    FB: Simmo, Raylor
    CB: Saylor
    DM: Anita, Perch, Bigi, (Guti?)
    AM: Marv, Obertan, (Guti?)
    ST: Remy, Ameobi

Now that’s a squad I’m excited about. Maybe a new CB and ST would give complete strength in depth but let’s not be picky

Tiote is doing the job of other players who aren’t performing or haven’t been fit, in alot of the games we have played this season tiote has been our highest passer and pardew has also said he wants him to be more creative. Tiote is only one player he can’t be a dm and am, even yaya toure needs to have another dm to come on to allow him to play in a more advanced area. Being a def mid you rarely pass the half way, look to break up the play and give an easy ball to a more creative player. Last season this is what tiote did and he was brilliant.

Tiote was good at shielding the defence last season. This season he has become a liability, he tries to dribble the ball out and inevitably gets caught. His job is to relieve the pressure on the back line instead of adding to it. A back line with Williamson doesn’t exude confidence, it doesn’t need a midfielder to “mince” around in front of them.
Far too many YCs, suspended and injured for half the season. I think he is a decent player, but I also think a lot of us over rate him. If we manage to get 10-15m for him, I think it is very good business.

Zero (Comment 8) I agree with you mate. Granted, I only read upto your commentlol but there is so much negativity for players who last year, everyone here thought were gods and thought would walk into a Man U or City or Chelsea side. You’re all so cynical! They aren’t playing well, it’s shit but it happens. No Plain Sailor (Comment 6), how many average games would it take for him to go from ‘wonderful signing’ to a shit player, not worth the money blah blah. Hows about, you all get to the home games and for a full 90 mins sing/dance/shout/scream. Make St. James’ a difficult road trip again!! Get some atmosphere back!!

I would get Sissoko as this signing would be Immense!

Plus he is a Bargain at that price, i would even be willing to up the Ante and offer Toulouse 5Mil for him! He,s that good!
Plus it would give me a great deal of satisfaction knowing that we pulled one over on the Scum with this!

However, i would not sell Tiote to get him, and shame on you all for even suggesting such a thing. You are all forgetting what an immense impact he has had in the last two years!

I agree his contribution this year has been less but he will come good once he is not played out of position, and gets match fit again! The whole team has been playing below par for the last months, and Tiote has only been a small part of that.

I would now concentrate all of our efforts on getting Moussa Sissoko over the line! and signed!

Just what is going on at Newcastle?

Forget Ba he just wanted to play for the club that paid the most money which Newcastle did when he came and no one else would take the risk.

Colo wants to go back to Argentina; Remy wants to go to QPR after talking to our highly skilled chairman, and now Ben Arfa wants to go to Arsenal, why doesn’t Shola; Ranger and the rest want to leave probably because no one wants them.
Better still why doesn’t Llambias want to go elsewhere, sorry we pay him too much for him to leave.
It’s OK to run a tight ship but we are in a mess and need some fresh blood to get us moving It is no good Carr finding players if we have no intention of signing them.
What the bet that on Feb 1st we will hear ‘We tried hard to get them over the line, but it just didn’t work out’
Me after supporting the for 60 years I’ve seen it all before.

    Latest on Remy:

Newcastle and QPR met the asking price. Remy / his agent spoke to Newcastle this morning. And is going to London to speak to QPR tomorrow. He has not made any decision on which club to join until he has met with QPR.

This is all according to OM’s President.

Could still be a Newcastle player this week. Don’t forget he chose to come and see us first.
