The Daily Mail is reporting that Newcastle are going after Ajax captain Siem de Jong, and the club are willing to pay out £9M to get the player to Tyneside in the next couple of weeks.
Siem de Jong – a Newcastle target
De Jong is only 23, and can play as an attacking midfielder or up front as a withdrawn striker, and he has one Dutch cap, and has 196 appearances for the Dutch Champions with an impressive 64 goals, since making his debut back in 2007 as an 18 year-old.
And this season he has 13 goals in 27 appearances for Ajax, but we wonder if Ajax would be willing to let their captain leave mid-way through the season?
De Jong has two years remaining on his Ajax contract, and the reports in Holland are that he is keen to become a free agent and run down his contract, so that may be a hurdle Newcastle will have to overcome in the 16 days left in this transfer window.
Siem is the older brother of former Newcastle target Luuk de Jong, who went to Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer, after Newcastle failed in their attempt to bring the top young striker to Tyneside.
We have to think it will be very difficult to get this lad into the club in the next 16 days, although he does look a class player, and a number of German clubs are also interested in acquiring the Ajax captain, so there will be severe competition.
And the Mail report says that Alan Pardew will be pushing for a Champions League place next season and wants more class in the team, but we are just hoping we can survive in the Premier League this season – first things first.

i like the modle we have in the recrutement area, for me it proves there are players out there good enough to play in the prem in the top half, and will not break the bank to get them,
i understand this mean we will always be a transition club for these players,( the ones good enough)
and even though i dont like obertan, i will not nock the club for buying him,
this is how i see the club being run
ASHLEY,
he has set out his plan, buy good tallented players from struggling clubs,, get them under 26 tie them to long contracts, sell on for a proffit
CARR
i think he has the hardest job of all, he spots the tallent and sounds out the agents
LAMESASS
his job is negotiations, whether that be coming in and going out, putting a package together that suits everyone
PARDEW
his job is to train what he has and get the best out of them on match day, try and keep everyone happy, in most other clubs he would have a say in who he wants, but i doubt he has here,, if he did, he would be flying all over to see players, and he knows A CB is the most important pposition that needs filled right now,,
where i see this going wrong is both lameass and pardew,
lameass thinks he is a negotiantion god because of the AC deal, but i would not like to guess how many deals he has screwd up for us,
and his statments he makes, he proves he is not a football man with the crap he comes out with
PARDEW
for ASHLEY to get the biggest return on his money on players, pardew is the wrong man, i think he is to defence minded, he is to stubborn, he picks his fave players and not always the best players for the job
i think players value would go up if pardew played a more attack minded game
he went all out attack v man u and scored 3, man u scored 4, but he will not play man u’s attack every week, but he chose to play defencive v norwich scored 0 but got a point,,
i think he will have his pance taken down v reading this weekend,,we do not play as a team and they do

from previous
I think QPR can afford the 8mil for remy upfront but they will try to do so many deals it will be better to spread this fee for all players over years.
The fee upfront to the agent wont be anywhere near the 8mil so easier to afford that.
I remember west ham, cant remember the player, stealing a player off liverpool (i think) just as he was about to start talking to them, by paying his agent something like 700k to tell him to go to west ham.
7 rainrix // Jan 15, 2013 at 9:49 AM
beattie… He can play in the 2nd striker role or the number 10 role. Anyway i don’t see cisse as the kind of striker who can play with a partner a player directly behind might suit him better

siem is better than luuk in my eyes…i appreciate a different player but a very good one.
The downside to this is that he is a second striker/AM so would probably mean cabaye playing a more withdrawn role.

If Cisse gets injured what then? We would be left with a AM effectively.
Cisse needs creativity as part of a forward 3. We need a LW/SS. Cabs can play AM to good effect. Signing Siem would be pointless.

Having had time to reflect on Monday madness,it’s hard to have any anger towards the player or the Newcastle board
Firstly I am not a fan of batman and robin but they have put an excellent offer on the table for a very good player but have been gazzumped by a desperate man.
Our issue is that the the one thing that could have helped us secure the signature is our league position .
A point at stoke ,a point at old Trafford and A win against either west ham or swansea and remy would be in black and white
The blame rests fairly and squarely on the coach and his team
26 points would have been 11th in the table vs bottom ,if you get my poin
Pardew I am afraid is the real issue
24 BelfastMagpie // Jan 15, 2013 at 9:55 AM
I’ve got a suggestion Mr Llambias.
Can you do this deal quickly please ? Are you capable of doing a quick deal ?
Please dont waste another two weeks pissing around with this one. Or we will get mugged off again, by Qpr or Southampton or one of the other big clubs.
25 Rotonda heights // Jan 15, 2013 at 9:56 AM

Totally agree mate, just saying ‘are they’ not that they have lost their scouting ability. They just seem to be having a lot more failures lately.
29 TorqToon // Jan 15, 2013 at 9:57 AM
TS – You’d be surprised the figures talked about with regards agents fee’s for a Remy deal. Just think Ba > Newcastle from west ham and that would give you an indication.
It’s confusing – very confusing! But hopefully one way or the other we will know today.
De Jong seems too good to be true to be honest. And at £9mil looks cheap. Don’t know if its got any legs to this one bit am going to do some digging – of course !
As I just said on a previous post – he would slot seemlessly into a ACM role with cabs and HBA with Cussen up top as a ‘loan’ striker.
30 jesperfuglsang - captain of the lemon crew // Jan 15, 2013 at 9:57 AM
TS…beats me
…I just find it a bit strange (whether they need the money or not who wouldn’t want it up front?) I don’t think they want Barton on their books, but I could be wrong
31 rainrix // Jan 15, 2013 at 9:57 AM
Beattie… Play like barcelona with 6 midfielders?
.
Cisse’s barely been injured since he’s been here, that cautionary withdrawal from the brighton is the only one i can think of.
That being said all in all i agree with you we need a winger/striker who can cover if cisse is injured but isn’t unhappy playing on the wing of a front three week in week out.
Anyway its the fail reporting this i doubt ajax would let him go anyway.
32 tequilamag // Jan 15, 2013 at 9:58 AM
Yorky, how exactly would a few more points on the table have made any difference. Remy is going to QPR for the money not because QPR are a better option for football reasons.

Transfer
I’d rather us try and spend £3 million of our budget on a box to box powerhouse that would allow Cabs to push up to the AM role than £9 million on a AM who could do a job in an advance position but under Pardew we never get into those positions.
If it was as you said, as well as, I’d be chuffed. It wouldn’t he though, not at 9 mill.
To be honest it isn’t goin to happen and o await the next big link to a deal that may never happen.
Don’t forget NUFC are master manipulators of the press. The only official note we had on the Remy deal was Marsaille apparently accepting our offer. Everything else (and even the initial bid) could have been false and NUFC let it run to either draw attention away or give the fans the illusion of trying.

How many reckon Ashley is playing the long game with Remy? We all know Ash is a bit of a player. “I don’t think that will happen,” he said. And he added that outside the top four, hardly any clubs will be prepared to blow their budget during the rest of the month.
“Not a lot of clubs are more flexible, there are only a handful. I would suggest we are being as aggressive in this window as anyone.

This is all part of the plan to get Luuk de Jong in. Fail with him so sign his brother, who is brilliant and I’d love to get him in as long as it doesn’t effect getting a CB in. We lack creativity in midfield. Even with cabaye and Ben arfa in same team it’s only 2 as cisse isn’t anything but a goal scorer so why he was on Wing this season I don’t understand. Jonas has an average decent cross rate of 1 per season. This guy will create a bit more, play him in behind.
Krul
Debuchy (new guy) colo? Santon
Cabaye tiote Anita
De Jong
Cisse
Ben arfa playing a free role giving him license to do anything he wants

On proud….Is anyone really shocked he’s not on here at the minute? Clearly we were in for him and possibly still are. It would seem from from OM have been saying that Remy was in England to sign with us but there have been further developments since then, as also confirmed by OM.
Not saying he wasn’t just guessing or not, but he is an older poster, didn’t change his username to share his “info”, so I get the feeling he at least believed most of what he said at that time.
What am I saying? Grab your pitchforks and let’s hunt him down!
98 Bambams // Jan 15, 2013 at 10:31 AM
What IF…….
REMY did our medical, we spotted something and wanted to ‘alter’ wage …say by 5-10 grand a week,,,,,, Stay with me. Remy not over the moon and speaks with Arry who offers loadsa dosh ‘pending’ medical…… Nothing signed yet !
On newsnownewcastle the OM chairman has stated he has not decided yet but did mention QPR have deep pockets. Still a chance he could accept our lower offer, especially if he looks around their bus shed stadium.
Opinions ?
99 magpie6699 // Jan 15, 2013 at 10:31 AM
Independent just claimed OM director saying Remy has not yet decided between QPR and Toon – breath not held – written him off already anyway,
100 Black and White with an army lol // Jan 15, 2013 at 10:31 AM
theres no way in hell QPR can come out of relegation spot unless they beat every team forth coming which by all means the top teams cant even do that, and for remy if he does go to QPR well thats a waste of his career and he should know it

please
both us and QPR are in a relegation battle,
its not like he is chosing a relagation team over a european chasing team is it,,
as it stands right now, we both have a chance of going down, he has chose the one who will pay him the most
and please bare in mind,, that 2nd last game it could be him scoring to send us down

Torq….I’m supposed to have a key ring? Right that’s it. I’m becoming a rogue ITK. Rule book is out of the window (or off the fence).

Tequila
Me too
We will send qpr down and then sign Remy on a fraction of the fee ie his release clause ,which I hear is £3m
And pay him less than the original offer
I knew I had missed something maybe lambias is a genius after all
Nice chatting must go to work
104 TorqToon // Jan 15, 2013 at 10:34 AM
Ibiza – I completely agree. He could’ve ducked out of the blog and come back under a different name at any point – yet stuck with it. I like the bloke to be honest – and feel the attitude last night and this morning was unfair.
Glad I’m not on my own.
105 ilovetoon8788 // Jan 15, 2013 at 10:35 AM
Siem de jong will be a great signing as well. Could be the answer to link our midfield with Cisse who looks so isolated, during matches he’s practically playing on a different island.
Either way knowing how stingy our owners are and how much of a gamble they like to take, i’ll believe when i see him in black a white shirt.
i wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t sign anyone and Pardew will go having Saylor and HBA is like a new signing. *yawns*
106 Sazzer // Jan 15, 2013 at 10:35 AM
Value of De Jong went down with that miss. He is now in bargain territory hence the link.

Ibiza – Have you know read your ’101 things an ITK should know’ handbook??
A keyring with the Toon crest on is a must. As is a copy of a season review that doesn’t involve a relegation !!

These are football players we are talking about and their god is money end of
If we expect to get an international striker for £40k per week we are dreaming
We should of paid Ba £6mill over 3 years(we got him for nothing and he owed us nothing so £6mill over 3 years would of been a steal for us but the powers in chargs couldnt see a golden goose we alreagy had and will now have to pay through the nose to get anyone half as good as Ba
Some posters on here just dont realise the position we are in.We have 1 decent striker,1 decent central defender who wants out,a midfield who create and score no goals
Say Remy is getting an extra £40k per week its only £2mill per year (and is reasonable for a French international and is £2 mill a year too much for Ashley when he is going to lose £60mill when we go down
I dont think Ashley or Llambias have learnt any lessons from our last relegation. They are chancers who are gambling with our premiership future again
See you all in the championship
God help us

Torq….I guess people we’re trying to take the info with a pinch of salt, but seemingly the deal was close and people have got excited as per usual and now feel let down. Proud is just the easiest target at this point. I have no doubt he’ll be back once the dust settles and he can actually chat to people rather than just have abuse thrown at him.
112 tequilamag // Jan 15, 2013 at 10:38 AM
Catchy, I understand we are both in a relegation battle but clearly Newcastle are a better option if he wants to further his career. We have a core of top French international players, Remy clearly has put money over everything. I will bet you right now that Newcastle will not go down. If we stay up you abandon your crusade against Pardew if we drop I will leave the blog.
113 Black and White with an army lol // Jan 15, 2013 at 10:39 AM
IMO Newcastle are a massive and proud club, if there was passion in football these days when players join clubs not for money but for the passion, Newcastle could attract top class players from all over the world regardless of our current position in the PL, i dont know why but in a few seasons time i think our beloved club wont be competing with the top clubs like manu/city chelsea ect, they will be competing against us

Would b a fantastic signing but if other clubs are after him that’s our chances dashed already. Any player who we are interested in,if other clubs want them,we won’t get them! Say all you like about Ashley and him doing things the propper way but we are embarrassing like! I’m sick of reading all these shitty rumours about players. But where’s the BIDS at FFs

Beattie 25 – he is a CF/SS, awesome young goal scoring talent….just awful comments on this site constantly.

When it comes to transfers we let the world and his wife know who we are after, other clubs can go in sign a player and then let everyone know, why cant we be a litte more discreet
120 JP...from The Rock // Jan 15, 2013 at 12:19 PM
Who could we sign apart from perhaps that Aubemeyang guy that is very fast, skillful, can play on the wing and would like to join us this window?
121 Pete Toon // Jan 15, 2013 at 12:44 PM
Hey Guys this is my first post on here but have been reading the blog for years!
First of all like all of you i am very disappointed about Remy but we all have to move on now! His attitude is awful and could potentially have injury problems. We all know that Pardew would have tried to play him upfront with Cisse in a 442 system which wouldn’t work! We Don’t need another 6ft plus striker in our team! We need someone with some skill and pace to unlock defences and create some things! De Jong is technically a great footballer who can create and score! he is only 23 and is dutch who seem to have a much better attitude than the frence… just look at Tim Krul…. i really hope we can pulll this off because i think he will be the link that we have been missing this season and it will enable Cisse to be a lone striker with someone sitting just off him…. Hopefully Cashely and Pards will realise that they have to do something in this transfer window otherwise we will go down and they will have a lot of very angry fans! I hope we get Moussa Sissoko thru the door and then at least two centre backs but like all of you i wont be happy until i see them in the famous black and white..

123 tweaked // Jan 15, 2013 at 1:48 PM
we can hope this is not another wet dream, and they actually bid for him now and not 1 day before end of jan and then give us a story of how they tried
124 NEWEXPATMAGPIE // Jan 15, 2013 at 7:14 PM
About Remy:
If he wants to go to QPR for the money and play at Loftus road in front of 18,000 max support, then its okay with me!
Proud does not deserve half of the crap being thrown at him on here, having just made a mistake in trusting a dodgy source! No apologies needed for laying low for a while son!
What would really crack me up is if Remy went there and QPR got relegated anyway? He goes there to make his money, and we get him on a free afterwards? The thing is would the club still want to sign him in the summer after he,s pissed us around for money this time around?
This is all dependant on, ” IF”? he still goes to London? Last i heard he still has,nt signed for any-one! Holed up somewhere in UK, considering his options? Hope this gets resolved one way or the other soon!
As for Siep de Jong, he is a better all round player than his Brother Luuk. Would AJAX let him go Mid -Season? No, i don,t think they would! Plus he would demand a huge salary and his agents would screw us for as much as they could get!
For these reasons, i think any move for Siep is a non-starter!
It would be great if we got him but i just don,t see it happening !
