Newcastle To Cancel Coloccini’s Contract Tomorrow?

There is news coming through from the Argentine media,  that Newcastle are to cancel Fabricio Coloccini’s contract tomorrow.

coloccini norwich

Fab Coloccini – will Newcastle cancel Argentine’s contract – surely not!

That presumably means that Coloccini can now get his wish and join San Lorenzo, where his father works, but we caution that the news is a bit sketchy but there are a couple of reports saying that Newcastle will indeed cancel Coloccini’s contract and he can leave when they meet with him tomorrow.

One of the reports is in Argentina’s biggest selling daily newspaper, Clarin, which is reporting Newcastle will cancel Coloccini’s contract on Wednesday.

So where do Newcastle go from here with Colo and Demba Ba having left in January?

However it is not clear whether the report is something the Argentina media are hoping for,  or whether it is actual real news. We have to think it’s the former, but we are expecting a definitive decision in the next day or two.

We have a hard job believing that Newcastle would do this – why would they want to let Colo go for nothing – when they can get £5M for him in the summer?

And if this is true it will be yet another bombshell to hit Newcastle in January – say it aint so!

The worst January was when Andy Carroll was sold an no replacement was brought in!

This is lining up to be the worst!

Man it seems like we’re about to fall apart! Not because Remy didn’t come before anyone says it. We’re just tinkering too close to relegation for me to be comfortable and thinks don’t really look like changing for a while. The sooner we get some players back and hopefuly some signings the better. Lost our most productive striker this season and now perhaps our rock at the back for the past few seasons. Players come and go but it’s sad times right now, need a convincing win on Saturday or a signing to chirp everyone up

next hba, krull, santon, cabaye, tiote, marv, cisse and anita will probably be gone by the end of jan transfer, and in someway Cashley, pardarse and lambass will be looking forward to going back into championship after selling our lads for big money, i for 1 dont think Cashley really gives a shit about our great club and he’s taking us down and down until we are out.

    THIS IS DISGRACEFUL IF TRUE.

A club wants a player. That club cannot afford said player.

Therefore the player’s current club gives him away for free.
    WTF?!?!

Just cause daddy wants him back at his favourite club now he’s involved!

Pay up or go home (San Lorenzo, not Fabricio!)

It has been suggested that Mrs C is undergoing medical treatment in Argentina . If she has a serious medical condition then I could see the situation where the club would cancel his contract.
Certainly Colo hasn’t been the same player this season. It also stated in the Argentinian press that he was booed by the Newcastle fans on Saturday – certainly I never heard any boos directed towards Colo. therefor I don’t believe the press statement.

Lay off proud lads, all he did was pass on what he had been told, it’s like getting a tip for a horse and passing it on. The frenzy that has gone on here over the last few days has been drawn from us all wanting the same thing, a new striker, I’m sure Barton caused most of this as he let it be known he was meant to be coming here and he has also ended up with egg on his stupid face, until someone is there with the strip on believe nowt lads, we’re all passionate fane who are desperate for things to turn, thing would have been an awful lot different if we were not in the league position we are in, remy wouldnt have been good enough for us last year! Move on to next rumour and let the next frenzy begin!

@thepict – I find it suspicious that these rumours of illness, family etc. have only come about a few weeks AFTER Collocini Senior has been stating he wants Fab at San Lorenzo now he is on the board in the new regime.

He had been saying for the last few weeks that he, Fabricio and San Lorenzo want him there but the club cannot afford him so they would have to work something out.

I don’t want us to be giving away our club captain. Especially when we have been so abjectly poor this season and in danger of relegation.

What ever the reason we can’t just let players leave for free what’s to sto Ben Arfa saying he is trophy sick and wants to join Man U or Chelsea

19 years old, u21 Argentinian international, skillful CAM.

I’d take him and £4 million.

Last summer Man Ciy were linked with a £20m bid for Colo, our cb captain who was in the premier league team of the season.. 6 months later we cancel his contract and let him go for free? Hard to believe, if he wants to go sell him. But we need to show ambition to balance this out, if we lose ba and colo now, and replace them with kuqi, mariappa, b ruiz type panic buys… what will happen in the summer? Ben Arfa, Santon, Krul?? Then next year Cabaye.. Replace quality with quality and quickly, it will lift team morale, this doubt just desimates it and makes some players think of leaving. We need a big signing in the next 4 days.

It seems according to BBC Sport even Haidara has rejected us. He wants to go to Italy. Fine with me we should be spending our time bringing in a CB anyway. What a crock. This is just ridiculous. What is Llambias doing or does he know? What is Ashley doing about Llambias? Who’s running this clown show anyway?

Our club is literally falling to pieces, what the f*** is going on? we lose Demba Ba. we are linked with about 500 different players but no one has signed, Remy decides to join QPR instead of us, we are in a relegation struggle, and now we might lose Colo, our best defender. I just don’t know what to say.

One question to anyone who wants to answer, how far down the line are we of this supposed 5 year “plan”. I keep hearing about it and have done for years but know one knows for sure what the plans is, when it started and when it should start paying off.

    Answers on a postcard 😉

I read this blog and all the comments religiously and have done for a long time, but seldom comment.
However, my current state of NUFC induced depression has forced my hand.
The problem, as I see it, stems far further back than the summer. Last season was largely a fluke, not entirely, we did have some good performances and showed some fight, but we also had a huge dose of luck (QPR/Chelsea away etc etc) and benifited from teams around us underperforming.
With the exception of the memorable night against Man U when did we last provide a champagne performance? Under Hughton. The club has become a victim of its own hype and arrogance ( Pardew and the board). Pardew won manager of the year based on league position, nothing more. The board thought ‘the jobs a good un’ and presumed we’d perform the same way again this year.
The players (not all but many) became taken in by this hype and got lazy and arrogant too (the way we fought and hassled last year was probably the thing that made me the proudest), and we’ve acted like a top six position is our right.
There needs to be a big shake up, Pardew needs to start installing fight once more (I think it’s too dangerous to get rid right now, especially knowing that MA would probably put PB in charge), and get the team back to putting in enough effort to actually grind out results.
The players are also to blame, too many slack passes, poor decisions, hopeful punts… this is partly but not entirely down to the manager.
We need fresh faces yes 2 or 3 at the very least, but they aren’t going to solve anything if things aren’t put right on the training ground/dressing room.
This is not the team that put 6 past Villa or 5 past Sunderland… which we were told wasn’t a high enough level.

Although having always been one of Colo’s biggest fans, and I have every sympathy for him if all this drama is true, I worry that this situation is setting a dangerous precedent.
So, in the future, if we pay £10-15m for a star player and the next season he has a family problem which means he should ‘morally’ be returned to his homeland do we just have to bite the bullet and say, “OK – no problem, we’ll just write off the transfer fee?”
Whole thing sounds strange to me.
Lastly if we don’t get a FEW good players in soon (and the clock is ticking fast) we are going down like the Titanic and like that famous ship, we might stay on the bottom for all time.
