The sky is falling in on Newcastle – and just to prove it, there is some bad news that Yohan Cabaye has injured his groin again – that’s the one he has just come back from – after he had two surgeries in November.
Yohan Cabaye – has injured that groin again – oh no!
And Alan Pardew had this to say after the shocking 2-1 defeat this afternoon against second bottom Reading – that puts Newcastle in real danger of relegation this season:
“We had to take Cabaye off because of an injury, that brought negative reaction from the crowd and that spread around,” Pardew told Sky Sports of a player who only recently returned from a spell on the sidelines. “We need some impetus. We have lost Demba Ba and Cheik.”
“We have got Cabaye back, but he is just on the first stage of his comeback. We needed him towards the end of the game.” “He said he was struggling with his groin. I did not want to take him off, but when a top player tells you he’s injured you listen to him.”
“It was a painful day for Newcastle.” “First half we could not have played better, you could see the extra quality. At that point you’d like to think we’d get away from them, but second half we could not get a grip of the game. We gave away two sloppy goals.”
“We need some impetus in terms of signings. It needs a little boost, to get everyone to get their heads up.”
We don’t think there will be anything that Mike Ashley will do at the moment, and Alan Pardew will have an opportunity to get a win at Villa Park a week on Wednesday night – and that’s another side below us in the league table.
But another defeat and Mike Ashley will at least be starting to think about who he could bring in as the new manager.
A guy that won the European Championship in May seems available – Roberto Di Mateo.
There’s no doubt that the way we lost this game today will lose Alan Pardew a lot of support – certainly from the Newcastle fans.
Of course there’s still 15 games to play and lots of points still to play for – but we have to stop losing games all the time – especially to those few teams that are below us in the league table – and at home too.
Shocking.

Comment #601This blaming the fans business is a dark turn – all the more so if Pardew stays. Ashley the one with the big call to make now. The fact that he is a successful man gives me a faint glimmer of hope that he might do something positive but, that said, his choice of managers over the years, his appointment of a personal friend, who happens to be a professional chance, to run the club… all this leaves me thinking that the best investment he could make would be in a case of some obscenely expensive wine, which he could give Sir Alex in exchange for a kick up the jacksy and a few home truths about running a football club.

Comment #602If one of cisse chances had gone in we’d probably be talking about who we’re signing.
It’s all about margins and a little luck sometimes.
Goodnight all.
Peace.

Comment #605Totally agree with Kets here… When players like Sissokho are available for as little as £3million we should be making sure we get him!

Comment #610Spuggy there’s a difference between slating your employer and statig you would have liked to have signed an striker etc.
It’s funny how he managed to state he undercooked the summer activity in November without slating his boss. Ffs Man.

Comment #611Fine Cabaye had an injury. But any smart manager would replace him with an attack minded player. But no., Silver Hair, decides to put on a defensive midfielder.
Nothing against Bigi, the lad has been immense for his first season, considering his age and everything. But a player like him is hardly going to create that many chances. Whereas someone like squidward, in the last few games has assisted two goals. Even he would have been the better choice.

Comment #613He’s different to what we’ve already got. We need a bit of height in our team. Marveaux, Cabaye, Anita, Tiote etc are all small players.

Comment #617What was really frustrating today was watching us knock the ball about in the 1st half Krul was the only one launching it
When we were playing 442 with Ba and Cisse earlier in the season we could have played the ball on the deck as well but chose to go long and whenever we are getting beat we go long and lose out
Why is this??!?!?!?
Realistically Mbiwa if he comes could be amazing but only if Colo stays to ease him into it if the guy plays with Williamson or Taylor we could ship heavy goals
Also Jona’s time is up did anyone see Santon having an argument with him in the 1st half for ruining a move?!?!He stops so many of our attacks and if we get that Haidara left back playing Santon further up could be the best option

Comment #618Only 10 days to go to the Villa game and 12 to the end of the window. Players in = 1. (should have been 2 re Remy).
A CB should have been the priority – if we had one today we might have salvaged something. It ‘s fine saying Williamson had a good game but time and time again he costs us -not his fault but he should have been replaced ages ago.
I had thought we might get a minimum of 4 players in with a high value/surprise purchase -not looking so good now -unless in the previous 2 weeks the board really have been working away and there is going to be a flurry of activity in the coming days.
Collo will be away so second CB is needed and a quality striker/attacking midfielder who knows how to head a ball.
Our loss today will give confidence to the others in the relegation fight that they may survive/overtake us. Not a good day at all.

Comment #621It’s all well and good taunting these big names about for next manager. Blanc? – the guy who fell out with ben arfa in the summer, martinez? – who’s in a better position at wigan. Is pep in a job at the minute? or what about ‘arry? he already has a good relationship with carr.
Hear a rumour at 12.00 pards had been sacked. I’d rather keep him, they havnt been playing that bad, just had problems and can’t defend, although in 18 years watching them, they never have been able too.
