Newcastle Have Two French Signings Wrapped Up

French reports are coming through saying that Newcastle have indeed wrapped up the signings of both Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa of Montpelier,  and Massadio Haïdara of Nancy.

We have to hope (and pray) they are true and these are two excellent defensive reinforcements for the Magpies.

Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa – a Newcastle player -yes!

The report is in Getfootballnewsfrance and the site is reporting 23 year-old Mapou Yanga-Miwa has been acquired for €7.5M and 20 year-old Massadio Haidra for €2.5M.

That’s about £6.2M and £2M respectively, and they seem to be two good deals for our club.

Newcastle were reported to have agreed fees for the players a day or two ago, and we hope these deals are announced tomorrow by Newcastle, and they are an excellent start – although we still need more players brought in before February.

This will certainly help strengthen the Newcastle defense (which needs it), and we hope that Newcastle will also announce that captain Fabrico Coloccini will stay through the summer.

That would be terrific news tomorrow – so here’s hoping.

I know everyone’s banging on about Sissoko and I’m not saying he’s not a good player but I’m really not sure he’s what we need.

He’s another box to box midfielder as is Cabaye and Anita.
Fair enough Cabaye can score 5-6 goals a season but Sissoko has scored 1 goal with 2 assists in in 25 games.
I really feel we need a player like Demsey just behind the strikers.. Cabaye is too slow and not agile enough to play there and we need his passing ability further back.

I don’t know we don’t play Ben Arfa there more often but our other wingers can’t cross… Damn we need a quality winger who can aswell

Maybe that’s the thinking behind De Jong?

It’s better to have 5 quality CM’s covering many facets than what we have currently.

We wont be paying 4 -5 million for Graham…He is not the answer ..forget he’s a Geordie for a moment ..would we still be mentioned as interested if he was a Londoner…?

5 million ! We can get much more for our money elsewhere….

Sissoko, Yanga-Mbwia and Haidara will give us presence – we need that for both defensive moves and attacking set pieces.
Sorry but not gonna get excited this time, or think of imaginary line ups or talk up players until they’ve signed on the dotted line and holding up or wearing a Toon shirt.

    Rooneytoons…

I do see your point re: Sissoko but I also think that he is an eventual replacement for Tiote. It is certainly one of our stronger positions. The only thing that he gives us that we don’t currently have is strong running. He is nowhere near the standard of Yaya Toure, but is a bit like Mo Diame in that he can pick the ball up, stride forward and be strong on the ball. When he pulls it off it can be devestating although he doesn’t deliver that on a regular basis. I would still be happy with his addition though.

Same as the above with Butland. We obviously have areas we need to spend in more but as far as I can tell they are pre-replacing Tim Krul! This is by no means a bad thing (except for the fact we lose Tim Krul) and I think the board may be learning. I.e. instead of waiting until Carroll goes to replace him one window later, identify and bring in the players earlier.

Signing Danny Graham would be stupidity ,,really stupid

Would we be linked to him if he was a Londoner ?

This would be the most idiotic stupid signing Newcastle could ever make .. On account they would be going for him because of the link with him being a fan ! ..that’s no credential to play for Newcastle is it ?

Imagine he’s a Londoner …Still want to sign him ?.

This could be one of the best January transfer windows in terms of signings if we bring in another two to three players after these a cm st and back up CB better than Williamson. What a turn around that would be. It would also help Players settle in more if there’s a few incomers at the same time.
May not be bad after all. Here’s for hoping! 🙂

With these 2 (if its 100%) we still need more.

No forgiveness until we are completely set. We need another CM (in case Cabaye is injured) and a CF before Villa.

when they’re on the official site holding up a black & white shirt – ONLY then will it be “wrapped up” ffs

now let’s get Sissoko another CB and a striker “through the door” and then get them “over the line”

    please

Whether or not we need Sissoko now, for 3.5 million and the potential the player has, it would be insanity to say no because ‘we already have players in that position’.

We don’t in fact. We need a box to box power house.

Rick Lambert, this lad is a bit like our famous number 9, work hard and gets the goals, just what cisse needs to help him. I have said before, cisse is a goal scorer, not a footballer.

Sissoko’s distribution and great ability to dribble with the ball would make him a game changer – just like Cabaye. We definitely need that kind of player + Siem.
