There are reports in France that Newcastle and Bordeaux have agreed a fee for 26 year-old striker Yoan Gouffran – and the Frenchman is now on his way to Newcastle to have a medical.
Yoan Gouffran – travelling to Newcastle for medical
Newcastle were close to agreeing a fee yesterday, but the initial bid of €750K for the Frenchman was turned down – but as we reported earlier today Newcastle have gone back in with an improved offer – and that has been accepted by Bordeaux.
Here is the translation of an RMCSport report about the deal:
“Newcastle has found common ground with Yoan Gouffran, the Bordeaux striker, on the basis of a contract of 5 years. According to a source close to the English training, an agreement was also found between the Girondins and the Magpies for a transfer of 1. 5M. The 26-year-old is expected in the next few hours across the Channel. Except ultimate rebound, Gouffran sign his contract in stride.”
We assume the fee is around €1.5M – which is about £1.2M – and it seems that Newcastle didn’t quibble too much – as we need a player of Gouffran’s speed in the squad.
This is more good news today, and the odds that we can also sign 20 year-old star left back Massadio Haidara from Nancy, 23 year-old French International defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa from Montpelier and even 22 year-old Moussa Sissoko from Toulouse now look very promising.
Massadio is a done deal and the lad is traveling to Newcastle for a medical – and there are reports coming through that Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa is very close to also signing for Newcastle, and we have to hope he has finally arrived on Tyneside.
But there are various reports that Arsenal have not entered the chase for the French International.
This is a statement from the Montpelier club
“On Tuesday, he joined Newcastle, currently 16th in the Premier League, subject to the traditional medical.” “Formed by the club where he arrived at the age of 13, Yanga-Mbiwa has gradually become one of the symbols of the training of Montpelier.”
“He played for the first time by Jean-François Domergue in 2006 when he was only 17 years old, he played his first match in Ligue 2 some weeks later.” “Mapouu Yanga-Mbiwa will leave a great void. “He became one of the spearheads but also one of the jewels in the Montpellier team.”
“The whole club wishes him good luck for the rest of his career.”
Of course we have also found out this month that no deal is complete until the player signs along the dotted line, and they are announced as Newcastle players by the club.

re-post from last thread – Say we do get all four players, do you think Pardew would have the balls to put all of them in the starting 11 against Villa? Given that almost every one of our first team players is under-performing? I dont think he would, Mbwia centre half and thats it I reckon, but our bench would look strong for the first time in about 2 years!

… That tall bloke in the video doesn’t look like M’Biwa, it could be Haidara’s agent… Look again, Haidara is the one behind him, isn’t he?

the guys in that video are M’biwa and Haidara, i’m 90% sure.
9 croftus5678 // Jan 22, 2013 at 4:38 PM
i dont think any of them will go straight in the team as esp the defensive lads will need a few training sessions to get used to the english game.
some may be brought on as subs though !
the effect of them signing alone (even though they do not play)will boost the whole team for villa though i expect 3-0 to toon
10 Wayayman // Jan 22, 2013 at 4:38 PM
@roblee7 I reckon it ould depend how long they have to train with the team before the Villa game. If they start work Thursday then there’s no reason why not. Whether they’ll actually be signed by then is another story

tiote for sissoko

You reckon? Just cant see Pardew dropping santon, tiote or Guti to be honest – he loves jonas for some reason!

Jesus I’ve got such a transfer semi on right now….
I’m gonna bust all over Ashley’s face
I was a bit premature over Remy but he still lapped it up the Slut
16 toonluvva // Jan 22, 2013 at 4:42 PM
Having lost Remy to QPR and now panicing about losing our other transfer targets to other clubs, I do hope that Pardew or someone has a review of our transfer strategy. It seems to take far too long. I agree that we must ensure that we are getting the right player for the right price, but having done that we must move faster to get them onto Tyneside for a medical and signed on the dotted line.
I am not a trained legal eagle, but can someone out there tell me if it would be possible for NUFC to get a transfer target to sign a contract subject to satisfactory medical. I am hoping that would stop another club from stepping in at the last moment.
17 magpie_army // Jan 22, 2013 at 4:42 PM
Sounds as though the Sissoko deal is only be a pre-contract to sign at the end of the season according to several reports. No good in my opinion; we need someone like him ASAP.
18 Wayayman // Jan 22, 2013 at 4:43 PM
Just looked again at that video, there’s no way it’s Yanga. Looks nowt like the bloke! do a google image search for him, you’ll see.
19 estechco // Jan 22, 2013 at 4:43 PM
My guess is the club are waiting for as many of the four as possible to be over the line before announcing them all, by way of a morale boost for everyone?
20 nick_9 // Jan 22, 2013 at 4:44 PM
So if looks increasingly like we are signing gouffran as well as mbiwa and haidara. Are we happy with our business this window? If we do indeed sign the two extra defenders we will have improved massively at the back with plenty of strength and a big of depth. What about upfront though? Definitely weaker for me but will business end there?
Is it greedy to wish for another striker and maybe sissoko or is that just dreaming? I’ll sacrifice Williamson and ranger if it helps haha

25 MUTINYbyLEMONS // Jan 22, 2013 at 4:49 PM
One thing I don’t understand is why we have got Gouffran so cheap? I know he has only 6 months left on his contract but still, I thought he was really good at one point. Is he out of form or coming back from injury? How good is he now?
26 Special K // Jan 22, 2013 at 4:49 PM

There surely is a message there Mr Ashley?
28 Wayayman // Jan 22, 2013 at 4:53 PM
V Villa
Krul
Debuchy M’Bwia Saylor Haidara
Santon Sissoko Jonas
Cabaye
Cisse Marveaux
People keep forgetting that Santon is actually a right sided player, I think having a young inexperienced Prem League player at LB in Haidara, we’d need the graft of Jonas there to help him out. Sissoko holding will mean Cabs can run the game creatively.
Santon and Debs could be lethal down the right, leaving Marv to run off Cisse.
I’ve just shat myself with happiness…
29 Beattie25 // Jan 22, 2013 at 4:53 PM
Right guys
The reason Sissoko and Gouffran are so cheap is because they can now enter a pre contract agreement with any club so the clubs they currently play for are desperate for any money.
Basically it is NUFC right to offer a contract to Gouffran and Sissoko and if both enter a pre contract agreement their current clubs are not entitled to any money.
What I believe will happen is NUFC have signed Gouffran (and hopefully Sissoko) to a pre contract agreement and are now offering Bordeaux (and Toulouse) to buy them out of their remaining contracts for the measly amount of £1 million (£3 million for Moussa).
That way we get them now, mega cheap and the other club gets a some cold hard cash.
BOOOOM
30 Newcastle for alltid // Jan 22, 2013 at 4:55 PM
As I said when the news broke about agreeing a fee with Marseille for Remy, I won’t cheer to early. Still, our most important signing, Yanga-Mbiwa seems to be about to sign – which is great news.
If we could also get Gouffran, Sissoko and Haidara in if would be exciting, great stuff. They may not be world-beaters, but they’ll add different layers to our squad. We’ll have more strings to play all over the pitch, and we’ll finally have some real depth in our side – which we’ve been desperately lacking.
31 Toon-Prodigy // Jan 22, 2013 at 4:55 PM
Looks like we have sissoko aswell.
Don’t know what the contract is though. Whether he is coming now or in the summer? Talk of a pre-contract
32 Mund30 // Jan 22, 2013 at 4:55 PM
Im really excited about getting these 4 players over the line, Mbiwa, Gouffran, Haidara and Sissoko but im not jumping about ive kept the cheshire cat smile in and im not imagining them in the famous black and white just yet, not untill i see them stood with the shirt and confirmed by the club. I made that mistake with Remy i got really excited for that lad and still am dissapointed with that outcome but if we pull this off and get these 4 in then Remy who??
I know Gouffran isnt everyones idea of replacing Ba but he isnt supposed to be. I think the club put alot of work in with Remy and he was the ideal replacement. But that never worked out and instead of panic buying and getting the first player we can we will wait till the summer to replace him. But maybe im wrong and if we get these 4 in they might go and buy a striker but i doubt it because January transfer window is alot tougher to bring in top strikers and the fee seems to escalate big time during this window. So for now Gouffran will do plus he has plenty of pace which we need right now and hopefully he can bag a few goals and i reakon he will be better than Best and we should never of got rid of him.
So fingers crossed we pull this 4 off and toes crossed we still splash out on a striker but one thing is for sure if this all goes well things will be looking up.
33 roblee7 // Jan 22, 2013 at 4:56 PM
these signings will surely raise question marks over the future of a fair few of our players, provided we dont sell anyone that is:

Abeid
Amalfitano
Sam Ameobi

Out of all them the only one I definitely want to keep would be R Taylor and maybe Ferguson.
36 DanRo // Jan 22, 2013 at 5:01 PM
The potential signings of such players will only raise the confidence of our squad. Players will know they will have to play well otherwise there will be others to take their place.
The potential signings are astute business again btw – Gouffran, Hairada, Sissoko and Yanga-Mbiwa for potentially around £15million. Hard to argue.
I do say potential as I need to hear the word ‘confirm’ before I get excited.
37 MrMojoRisin76 // Jan 22, 2013 at 5:02 PM
It’s a shame Gouffran and Mapou will be cup tied for Europe but it’s hardly the priority now,i think another striker is coming, sorted the defensive side out,now we need to sort the goalscoring out, great signings.

I strongly doubt we’ll be selling most of our English players. According to Registration rules for the Prem (if this is correct), don’t we need to have a number of English Players in a registered squad? I could be wrong however (this is what FM 2013 does to you!)
40 roblee7 // Jan 22, 2013 at 5:03 PM
carl192 – id feel sorry for r.taylor if was shown the door like, i actually think if he was fit we would of nicked a few more points with his free-kicks and crossing ability. still, not sure where he’ll fit in but a superb squad player. any idea how long his contract is with us?
41 liam1985nufc // Jan 22, 2013 at 5:03 PM
MrMojoRisin76 – Mbiwa won’t be cup tied. Players who have played in the Champions League this season are not cup tied for the Europa League. Same applies to Debuchy.

Beattie similar to us with Enrique if I remember rightly? Wasn’t he in his final six months but we go enough to buy santon?
Gouffran according to wiki is a 1 in 4 guy in france which is ok but he’s unproven over here and might not even score that many. Be extra nice if we could sign an additional striker and him. Anyone looking at the squad numbers though? We have 25 right and surely I we signed Debuchy, haidara, mbiwa and gouffran we would need to sell other players (or loan them out?) to make room for them before we Erm consider sissoko and another striker?
47 roblee7 // Jan 22, 2013 at 5:07 PM
just been on nufc.com looking at our player contracts – ryan taylors runs til 2015
Only Gosling and Perch’s run out in 2014! thats not including squad players mind. MA’s quite smart buisiness wise like, nobody can take any of our players for nothing. It also says Shola’s contract runs out in 2014, but did he not sign a longer contract not that long ago or is that right? God, imagine how slow he’ll move in 2014….

Ashley had a choice back or sack Pardew, and he has backed him in the transfer market,so now the pressure is off him and on pardew.

55 Mund30 // Jan 22, 2013 at 5:11 PM
@roblee7 how can you put Raylor and Ferguson in there?? For one Raylor had an immense season for us last year and we have missed him big time this year. Plus Ferguson is young and he has been one of the positive points from our fringe players this year and he is an option to bring on and get some good balls into the box.
But the rest you said yea been no good Vuckic has been disappointing for the last 2 years, both with injuries and progression, and i had big hopes for this lad. Simpson its inevitable he going and to someone in London. Gosling will probs be shown the door another disappointing signing hasnt progressed, same goes for Abeid i thought this lad would of been very good but i guess he dropped down in the pecking order now. Amalfitano i reakon he will be given more time and for Sameobi i havent been at all impressed with him this year he has no defensive capabilities whatsoever and he seems pretty headless, but he is young so we’ll see.

61 santonthenewmaldini // Jan 22, 2013 at 5:12 PM
@Rob lee 7
If we do pull these deals off i can see a lot of our players going out on loan like Sammy and Tav etc
R. Taylor Does not deserve to be dropped good squad player dont know what games he will get when he comes back though
Simpson Again would be good back up but will be gone in the summer
Ferguson out of the youngsters the boy has some quality could do with a loan till end of season and maybe next year till xmas
Gosling Probably had 2 many injuries now to make it with us
Vuckic Still think this guy has the potential to be world class he has been unlucky with injuries and also if we catually play the ball on the deck with movement rather than hoof it to him he could be our version of Ibrahimovic
Would loan him out for another season or 2 when he comes back from injury he needs to toughen up and develop a nasty streak to bully defenders
Abeid the boy needs a loan move badly although when he has played for the 1st team think he has been stitched up badly because he is not suited to long ball tactics
Amalfitano difficult to say really might be best to loan him out to championship and hope someone will give us a fee
Sam Ameobi Loan Loan Loan for 2 years praise has went to his head big time needs to go to a Championship has similar ability and style as Zaha but is miles behind in attitude Ian Holloway would turn him into a player
The toon have to face facts these youngsters may not make it with us but we have to start doing what Arsenal and Man Utd do the ones that make it make it and the ones that don’t they still manage to develop them enough to get money back for them we need that income stream to come back into the academy even if its 500k so we can improve

@roblee7 ok my bad but i think alot will go out on loan i dont think we would get rid of Ferguson and we shouldnt get rid of Raylor the rest could do with a loan stint toughen them up.
We know now how important having good fringe players is and not relying on youth we have because they just dont cut it at this stage and it has hurt us bad this year.

On to your point about having too many French players, in an ideal world, I completely agree. However, we are trying to build a decent squad on a low budget, much like Arsenal did. It will take some time, but when you look at the over inflated prices of English players it’s no wonder we’re buying French. Down the road we will get the balance right, for now let’s just be happy we’re getting in some decent players to take us forward, surely that’s the priority right now?

Gouffran will come in as a stop gap and do a solid job, till the summer, next season he will be a useful squad squad player, which is always good to have. Would still love us to grab an out an out striker to keep cisse on his toes. Cheeky £4M bid for Charlie Austin perhaps? I’ve heard his name banded about a lot, but never really wanted him here. Been watching him a lot lately, and he is the real deal. Be nice to close the window off signing a british player! And at 24 goals in 27 games this season, he. is. on. fire. :O

The reality is – the fact we have an emerging French enclave of players is the only reason we can attract full internationals such as Debuchy, M’Biwa and Sissoko. Not sure if this has already been said but I can see news outlets / SSN etc putting whole emphasis on our amazing transfer work on Yanga. But let’s not underestimate in ANY way how massive the signings of Massadio Haidara and Moussa Sissoko is.
2 players with huge talent and even more potential to be world class. I know ‘potential’ often doesn’t get fulfilled – but having worked in the French league for a long time – I truly believe they will be branded another ‘Carr gem’!
Personally I hope people DO underestimate these boys as well as Gouffran (although he is slightly more ‘known’) so we can shock the league in a positive manner!
135 nick_9 // Jan 22, 2013 at 5:52 PM
Who gives a damn about nationality? I would like passionate English players or even Geordies in the squad but thy are few and far between, costly and get snapped up quickly by the bigger clubs. I would rather sign three of four French lads than one young English winger from crystal palace who has done naff all for the same price.
Sit brave heart – it all depends on whether we can sign new players and keep these fringe players in the 25 man limit for players over 21 years old. At the minute we have 22 in the squad and that includes plays like amalf, Xisco, 3 gk’s and Gosling so it shows we have a poor squad but room for some new recruits.
136 fray bentos // Jan 22, 2013 at 5:52 PM

Gouffran makes sense in the short-term. He’s mobile, fast and carries a goal threat- plus bang in form now unlike Remy.
This season is all about digging in and surviving now – nowt else matters – couple of goals here and there from incomers would be huge – Ba’s true heir apparent can be sourced when we are a premier league team in the summer looking to attack the right end of the league again.

Toon1978 – I think so yes. Would stick my was on the line and say we will defo get him this window – but you never know what will happen. I do believe the we HAVE entered into a pre-contract with him, to a) stop anybody trying to poach him, and b) to give us the upper hand on bargaining a fee now. They want to get some money out of this. So don’t be surprised to see him this window.
Jesp – I have been biting my tongue as I hear about an hour ago that he passed medical with flying colours and everything is complete. But I always like to wait for official confirmation. They just seem to be taking their time – due to, imo, wanting to announce him and Haidara together. Wouldn’t be surprised if its tomorrow the announcement.
Proud – Nice to see you back on here mate! How things change with a few signings hey?
171 nick_9 // Jan 22, 2013 at 6:08 PM
John Tudor – that was an interesting interview to listen to. The French guy seemed very optimistic about the French lads we are looking at and also on Ben Arfa.
Proud – leave it out. We had just fcuking lost on Saturday from a winning position against that dross from down south who were yet to win away. Any wonder it was downbeat then and upbeat on a day when were close to three new players? If Ashley is prepared to splash out then it shows he does give a damn about our survival. gouffron sounds great to me in the long term aswell as the short term he’s just different to everything we have got he can play on the wing or upfront but what do we judge his goals on ? was they played as a winger / as a forward or both either way i dont think its too bad considering his return is 10/22 and cisse aint doing that great atm i see pards trying to get gouffron to compliment cisse and in return cisse will compliment gouffron so hopefully they will both score more goals than they are atm.

@ ibizatoon concerning post 120
i have to admit i really like the way you discuss things!
i agree that my comment sounded homophobic or whatever but that was just to invoke a reaction which it clearly did:)
and i also agree that maybe this is the best way to get players in at a fair price but i just don’t like to seams teams play too many ‘foreign’ (with no disrespect) players.
i think a team that plays in a city should be a symbol for that city and when there are 11 players out there with almost no english players, it’s go nothing to do anymore with newcastle or england. it’s all about money now and that’s a pity.
i have more appreciation right now for a team like norwich and hughton. lots of english players (and yeah they may even be coloured that’s not my anger as some of you thought) and playing decent honest passing football.
if you look at our team, sometimes i wonder if they even care they play for newcastle!
that’s all i was trying to say but this is the reality and i have to accept that with discontent

NUFCarter It doesn’t matter what he has done in the past it’s what he has done with us,5th last year, had a terrible time with injuries and such,do you think we’d be in this position if we’d i have signed these in the summer?,i don’t.I think this is MA’s way of admitting he was wrong..
180 nick_9 // Jan 22, 2013 at 6:12 PM
Fray – if Taylor had stayed fit I think he would have been a started all season. I don’t think it’s a case of not wanting English players but more a case of where the value is. If we can get these four French lads in for 12m it’s strengthens us massively for the same Price Liverpool paid for Sturridge and Man U are paying for Zaha. I think Campbell may come good for us and I believe bigi is half English? And he doesn’t look out of place. I guess it’s about spotting the English talent before they get overhyped. Jordan Rhodes is a British lad I wanted but Blackburn paid 8m for him didn’t they? Even though he was a league 1 player. We can afford that and it’s poor value.

from that article
“The reason we aren’t doing it is because of the managers mentality in my eyes. He is so afraid of losing to teams like Norwich and Reading that he suffocates our players from playing their natural game. He insists on trying not to lose so much that he totally avoids the fact that we need to win. But when we go to Old Trafford and The Emirates he decides well we will probably lose anyway so lets just go for it. He needs to sort himself out and say to his players to go for it against the lower teams. If he did then we would win more than we lost.”

Mick Lowes – Radio Newcastle this evening
1. Mapou Yanga-Mbwia – maybe outside chance that this deal could be concluded but reluctant to say out right cos’ of Remy experience. One tfr that leaps out for Mick Lowes, great credentials of the same mold as Cabaye, doesn’t get booked, doesn’t get injured – looks like the real deal! Nearest deal so far – Lowes keeps banging on about how good Mbwia is…………deals done cos’ of aggressive board.
2. Moussa Sissoko – another one who excites you, ticks all the boxes, age , price, france int’l, 23 yellows in 164 games considerably better than Tiote! Left out of Toulouse match tomorrow.
3. Massadio Haidara – not played a lot of games – young / age/ just broken into Nancy side so he has been eased in over there – Lowes confirms he is quality.
4. Yoan Gouffran – he is important, we have not seen the best of him from Europa, scored 12 this season, not prolific but definitely a talent
Colo – discussions yesterday were not particularly helpful for any of the parties, continues to rumble on, causes ruptions, NUFC want some form of commitment from Colo, but Colo has personal issues.
AP stressing importance of competition for places. Very bullish and very confident that they;ll get 2/3 of these over the line…….so Lowes does not know anything more than we know already….sounds positive.

Fingers burnt – I wouldn’t necessarily say so, it’s just announcing things as a ‘done deal’ is so tempting and had Remy not have gone chasing pure profit you would’ve been spot on. I too had heard that Remy was a ‘sure thing’ – but it seems money changes everything! Anyway enough of that bloke – onto bigger better things!

Proud – football is like that though, if we had two more wins during the last 14 games the league table wouldn’t look nowhere near as bad. as you know speculation about Remy and other signings along with defeats and bad performances just adds to the frustration. The speculation about signings is a ray of hope for many fans after a truly dire season so far, the next week or so could dictate our season because let’s face it we have had little to shout about so far. For me of Ashley signs four players this window for the first team it shows he gives a damn, the season is still a write off though but avoidin relegation will be seen as a success now.

I really hope Pardew doesnt f…k up anymore. Pardew hopefully should have some much needed new blood in the team for the villa game. Which is now a must win game and if you still think we can lose that game and get away with it you just need to see our fixture list and see which games are coming next. AP needs to get his back 4 in order. All week thats all i would do work with the defense cause they simply cannot defend and at this level is just ridiculous. With all these signings surely pardew cannot come out now and blame injuries or needing new players cause it just wont fly with the fans any longer. And for heavens sake Pardew dont make any stupid substitutions and then after the game realise you f…kd up get your shit together cause i for one just have had enough of your pathetic tactics and having new players doesnt mean things will change unless the manager plays to their qualities so do that AP have some balls and play some football and be more attacking minded and not put a defender on after scoring a goal what the f…k is that all about.

Story is that Hooper has turned down Celtic’s “final” offer of a new contract. Norwich had £5m turned down.
He’s scored 20 goals this season so far.
Reckon he’s worth £6-8m. Not sure if we want him as No2 striker but he’d be great No3

if this then that to me Pardew has benn found out. He is pulling a Jonas after signing a long term deal and he has sunk in. His subs and his tactics are for all to see weak but will Ash realise this. After the transfer window closes we will hopefully have our reinforcements.
Then he will have nowhere to hide….

Gouffran will get shot in the toe and will need it de-capitated while Sissoko is involved in a house fire and fails to make it out alive when he attempts to free Cabaye who also loses an arm! Benny craps out his intestines. Marveaux gets lost…..again!. To top it all off, Colo finally decides that he’s leaving after all the havoc! You really can’t rule it out…..can you?

GOufran:
Withdrawn striker is his best place i think. So perfect for Pard’s 4-4-2!
Right wing isn’t his best place anyway. He could start the games, will depend of the injury list. With everyone availlable, i rather see him on the bench right now.
Sissoko:
We learned some hours ago he will not play tomorow with TOulouse in French cup.
So he’s clearly leaving. Wich is perfectly logic for his contract end in June.
Is he leaving for Newcastle? YOu will have the answer tomorow, but i’m pretty optimistic (for a top 5 club would be a bit risky for him now).
The best eggs? The french eggs!

Santon – a winger in the making? His forays infield are easy on the eye but lead to next to nowt in the final third. He’s always cutting inside, has no goals in him and can’t cross with his left peg. Some winger he’d be.
348 yo-yo // Jan 22, 2013 at 7:05 PM
Moussa Sissokho plus a 15 goal striker (no names no pack drill as bad karma).
That would be the ultimate transfer window for the Toon.
I think Batman taking over from Robin on the transfer side gives me much more confidence in the Toon – and Batman’s commitment to the Toon too.
I have thought Llambias the weakest link for a long time – purples, missing out signings, boasting he’s a hard man.
If he goes then I think Pardew’s job will be easier.

Signing alot of french players makes perfect sense. There are no language problems, they already know some of the squad and they have a social life with the same culture from day one. Another massive plus is that the wives and partners and kids can also get together. I’ve been in the players box a few times and there is a really family atmosphere amongst the french girls. That all helps players to settle in fast. If we didn’t have so many french lads here already would we have got Debuchy and now hopefully Mbiwa, Haidara and possibly Sissoko and Gouffran? I doubt it.

Can’t understate how important it is for wives and girl friends to be settled. Look how much bother Colo’s wife being homesick seems to have caused. His form dipped the first season, and who knows what problems her having difficulty settling has caused.

Proud – I don’t think so. I think first and foremost is the get these boys all wrapped up. Then I wouldn’t be surprised if we go in for another striker and spend a few more quid. You hear things in this job and I’m just really going off that.
And of course dependant on what Colo does – we will need to dip back in for another CB. Plenty of talk around the names we previously spoke about so could carry some weight.

And even a good left foot.
The most impressive thing about him he’s probably how he appeared calm and confident when he played for France.
395 JTOONJ // Jan 22, 2013 at 7:22 PM
I tell you what trying not to get my hopes up but if we pull of all of these players, i think that means you should all get off ash’s back because he is obviously still learning about running the club, he overspent first season and under spent this season! however he got it right the 11/12 season.
396 89Norcal // Jan 22, 2013 at 7:23 PM
Just got done watching Gouffran’s videos on youtube.
He reminds me alot of Ba, which is good and bad
but in the way he times his runs, his positioning. Good technique as well.
1m would have been excellent but 1m+addons, still looks a great deal.
397 DokToon // Jan 22, 2013 at 7:23 PM
so when is soonest we find out confirmations of all these earth -shattering, the-world-is-truly-ending signing?
mayans may have been off a few months, if they all come through…
398 Zero // Jan 22, 2013 at 7:23 PM
Stripping Colos armband is only going to make things worse, if his head aint in the game sub him off at half time and give the armband to cabs but not before we see how hes going to play
399 pizzicatochan // Jan 22, 2013 at 7:25 PM
We may well be having a very different back line if we can also get Douglas:
Haidara
Mbiwa
Douglas
Debuchy
In this way, would it be an ideal solution for us?
400 Tekkers29 // Jan 22, 2013 at 7:25 PM
i can’t help but think that remy must now be gutted he went to qpr as from what i understand that he was told m’vila and sissoko was joining them as well as other top players but they now seem to be losing them all.
hahahahahahahahahaha
401 TorqToon // Jan 22, 2013 at 7:25 PM
The colo / armband issue is a tough one. Trying to decifer what the papers say and what actually happened will surely bring differences.
HOWEVER as club captain I believe Colo should’ve come out and made a statement with regards his intentions. The fact that he hasn’t tells you all you need to know I feel…

404 GeordieToon89 // Jan 22, 2013 at 7:27 PM
Out of these who we’re apparently close to signing theres only Gouffran who cant play in Europe… so our european squad has also became stronger, Keep Colo sign another striker and get Sissokho now instead of the summer and we could win the Europa if everyone clicks straight away haha .. Dont mind me just having a dream

Cissé and Tioté are french speaking…

Can anyone confirm that Gouffran was once linked with Arsenal?
409 nick_9 // Jan 22, 2013 at 7:30 PM
Colo situation is tricky, take the armband off him and it could disillusion him further. At the moment the situation is still salvageable.

Gouffran was linked with Arsenal as far back as 2007 when he was an U-21 International and played with Caen.

Really embarrassed by nufc cursed’s xenopobic and homophobic rantings. What an ignorant, narrow minded and bigoted little Englander. He comes over like the grand wizard of the KKK.
I’m thrilled with these players coming in. How many home grown players do city, united and chelsea have any way.
Benny
Cabaye
Debuchy
M’ Biwa (fingers crossed)
Sissoko (fingers crossed)
5 full internationals is absolutely awesome.

Toon1978 – Gouffran is underrated in the press (and in some parts on here) probably due to his low transfer fee etc – but he can play mate. Pace, skill and a very good eye for goal.
A cracking deal at £1.5mil (approx) mate!

428 JP...from The Rock // Jan 22, 2013 at 7:42 PM
I would love Marvin Martin here. That kid will fit perfectly here and is similar to HBA.
429 niafron // Jan 22, 2013 at 7:46 PM
THe less known of all is Haidara. But he could be a starter as well, cause if we compare him to Santon, he’s left footed. But maybe the idea is to play Santon CB if Colo leave the club?
Well, those are tremdendous reinforcments.
But it leave us with a question: what will be the impact of all these change on a team in full doubt?

Torq..Second goal I ever seen Gouffran score I knew he was different and had all the skills under pressure…He just need’s a new challenge ?…JUst been on Talk Sport ..he has signed, according to them ..this at 19:40
If the players mentioned arrive I think we might just have to sing Ashley’s name Next home game..
Question ..Has Pardew slipped something into Ashleys tea ?

Niafron do you eeally follow the french s league cause it doesnt seem so, gouffran is shit, everybody knows that overhere, he was a poor winger , he went striker but he s ok at best, he s obertan s twin brother. Mbiwa is an amazing recruit, he s one of the best dc and a major signing. Sissoko isnt as great as you guys seem to think, he s good but capoue, his partner , is 100 times better. I dont know enough the lb from nancy to judge him.
438 Mister Tuff // Jan 22, 2013 at 8:06 PM
torq @351 slight ammendment to the translation -should be:-
“Tomorrow I will be a new Newcastle player and I am proud thank you all kisses”.
matterless really but just for the sake of accuracy.
439 niafron // Jan 22, 2013 at 8:08 PM
@gazza
GOuffran come from the “Red star”, the club of my dear suburb.
So i know him better than you will ever know your left hand, and sorry, he’s a good player.
I don’t said he would be a starter right now however (an i also said he’s better as a stiker than as a winger…).
I said nothing about how i rate Sissoko, and we agree it seem about Mbiwa.
But you read my post, don’t you?
440 numba9 // Jan 22, 2013 at 8:22 PM
Is it possible colo and pardew have invented the story to shock tight mike to get his wallet out?colo is not going anywhere just wanted to kick someone into action !
441 NUFCarter // Jan 22, 2013 at 8:32 PM
Pardew is at the villa game. Take it to watch them for next Tuesday but isn’t he involved in the transfer bussines as well? I know most managers don’t even know what there’s players wages are. I remember an interview with redknapp where he said he didn’t have a clue what his players were earning.

I have it from a reliable source
Colo has impregnated a 22 yr old from cramlington his wife has left for Argentina and she is demanding he goes
Danny Simpson has agreed to join qpr and Newcastle are banding about alot of names for transfers so that no one no s who we are actually after
After the Remy thing
The player my source does now about is Hooper from Celtic and apparently they are after someone called leukemia but I have never heard of him
