Newcastle have had a €750K offer for Bordeaux striker Yoan Gouffran turned down, but with the French side indicating they would be willing to sell the player for around €1M – a deal is very likely – and that’s especially true when you think Yoan will become a free agent in June – and he could leave Bordeaux for nothing.
Yoan Gouffran – could soon become a Newcastle player
There are reports in France (where else?) that Bordeaux President Jean-Louis Triaud has said he would likely accept an increased offer of €1.2M.
Yoan can hit the back of the net – and he has 12 goals in 27 matches for Bordeuac this season and last season he hit 14 goals in 37 appearances, and with his speed he would be a decent acquisition for the Magpies.
At the moment we have only Shola Ameobi and Papiss Cisse as recognized strikers, so it would seem worth while to pay around €250K more to get this lad on Tyneside – and he could also be available for our next game at Aston Villa next Wednesday – which is another relegation 6 pointer.
We hope Newcastle can move quickly to get the 26 year-old former France U21 striker, because we definitely need more players this month who can score goals.

very good player to fill a gap for now…at that price you can’t go wrong.
If he proves himself he can be a permanent fixture next year, if not a decent a squad player with a better player coming in during the summer

Really surprised no1s that excited by gouffran! He plays wide more than central and has a great goal return! As good as Remy over last few seasons! Hes very quick and likes the ball on the floor! Feel if ww were paying the 8-10m he would have cost a year ago people would be happier?? Dont let the pricetag fool you, hes a lot better player than shola, lovenkrands, ranger, best etc and his game is better suited to england than france

How is Gouffran like Guivarc’h ?? He’s French yeah
Guivarch was a pure striker with bad pace and not great technique
Gouffran is forward/winger with good pace and excellent technique.
He doesn’t have to score to have a good game Guivarc’h was too slow for the premiership.
As for Bony he’s been mentioned a lot on here and I think he’s exactly what we need he’s not slow by any means and is a beast. He’s so composed around the goal aswell and is amazingly good at dribbling for his size.

If all goes to plan, I think we all can admit that Cashley and Co have pulled it out the bag. Ok it should have been done in the summer but at least they have done something about it before it was too late (hope its not too late).
I would have Gouffran as a squad player and get a striker that has a lot of pace and is clinical in front of goal!
