For the third day in a row, Newcastle have announced the signing of a French player – and today it is 20 year-old
France under-21 international left back Massadio Haïdara.
Massadio Haïdara – sings for Newcastle will wear number 19
The left-back comes in from Nancy and he is a big powerful player with lots of speed – something that we lack in the back four at the moment.
And with Toulouse announcing on their web-site that Moussa Sissoko has signed today for Newcastle – maybe we’ll announce four signings in four days tomorrow, when the Sissoko signing could be announced.
Now to get Ricky van Wolfswinkel in by Saturday to keep the streak going! 😀
The Trappes-born youngster made more than 50 appearances for Nancy, and he is currently one of France’s top young talents.
This is what Massadio had to say after his signing:
“It was the desire of the club to sign me up which was the most important factor.” “It was nothing to do with the league position.”
“It was really all about the club’s desire and willingness to sign me up. Also, I like the club’s ambition to strengthen the whole team so we can improve our league position. That’s what appealed to me so I didn’t hesitate.”
And Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew had this to say about his fourth new player this month:
“Massadio is very highly-thought of in France and he’s somebody who our scouting team have been greatly impressed by.”
“At the age of 20, he will only continue to get better but he’s already played a lot of games in his country’s top division and represented France at under-19, under-20 and under-21 level.”
“He’s strong and quick and we’re looking forward to seeing him develop here.”
Massadio is another excellent signing by Newcastle this month – and our club is not finished yet.
And while the club made a big mistake in not strengthening the squad in the summer – a big mistake – they are now doing their level best to put that mistake right.
Hopefully we’ll still get even more players through the door before next Thursday – here’s hoping.

Comment #41NUFC 4 LIFE (…err I mean SALE!) – I just can’t believe it mate. Trying hard not to get overly excited before an official announcement – but from everything I’ve heard and the people I’ve spoken too, it’s as good as done.
Ibiza – 5 years is a good contract length. With the option to extend!

Comment #44Mac…That’s better, stop living in the past man…honestly.
What a turn around in one week. Last week it was “Well I’m not going back to SJP”, now people wish we had a game tomorrow.
Why does that man play with us so?

Comment #47I still think we need a Striker
and if Collicini leaves we need another centre half.
We need to make sure with Steven Taylor being so injury prone that we keep Williamson as far away from the team as possible otherwise we will go down.

Comment #49any info on this guy Thauvin? I’ll hold my hands up and say I know nothing about him. Is he a striker?
Also, you guys think Haidara is a first team signing or a back up? Another i know nothing about but still excited!! I still think we’ll sign a big money striker, despite the other signings I’d be disappointed if we didn’t as not sure Gouffran and Cisse are enough, espeially if Cisse doesn’t improve, we could still be down there come end of season as need goalscorers desperado

Comment #53Sorry to be a downer lads but I really cannot see us spending another £10million on RVW, Although he’s a cracking players a just cant see Ashley paying that ontop of what he’s spent, plus where will he play? because we wont pay 10million for someone to be a rotation player

Comment #55Something just came to mind: This season I didn’t have the spare money to spend on our new home kit right away when it launched. This dragged on and on, and I felt that I couldn’t support the lads properly – while results was getting worse and worse.
A little over a week ago I finally ordered the home kit, as I though “Fcuk the money, I’ll just do it” So I ordered it. Now, a few days later, three new signings and an imminent fourth is upon us, and it’s all happy days.
So now I feel partially responsible for all these transfers, and strongly believe that my 40 pounds was the money that tipped it over for Ashley so that he could say “Fcuk yeah! Well, now we can safely spend some money without worrying too much, thanks heavens”
So yeah, everything is fine now.

Comment #57also, I bought a Stone Island jacket today….will i get tagged a football hooligan for wearing it? its well smart like and wouldn’t normally buy anything to do with football hooligans as I think they’re the lowest of the low, but it was £30 and new with tags…just dont want people to think I’m a nut job!

I think you under estimate Sissoko
He is bigger and more powerful than patrick hei is a cross between torre and Viera
He will be worth 40millon in 2 seasons

Comment #63No excuses now Mr Pardew. You’ve finally got a top squad assembled (I say pardew, i mean Carr as i believe pardew has very little input in to signings)
Now keep us up and lets kick on next year! I still believe we need another striker/forward and a centre half if colo does go (Douglas in the summer for free?)
However Im still worried that we’re going to lose a player this transfer window to help fund these deals and I doubt we’ll spend any money in the summer!

Comment #64Repost:
cockneymag – haha, I’m with you on Fifa man, I just started playing ’13 again for the first time since November and the update last night gave me Debuchy but no Mbiwa- does it update at the end of the week or something? Fifa can’t keep up with our signings.
Also agree with you on Amalfitano. He looks class. In his glimpses he’s looked calm and far better than Sammi and his motley crue.
While we’re on the subject of Fifa – if anyone has a PS3 and fancies a game tonight – COCKNEY? – I’ll be on from about 11pm and my PSN is velveteer.

Comment #65yorkymag since we bought cabaye and linked to 20 french players ewvery window i began to watch the french leauge on a regular basis.. he has the potential to become world class, but don’t think he will be as good as vieira, who is for me was 1 of the best ever.
he is a slightly better version of diame, who i rate very highly

Comment #68Moonraker – Agree with most of what you said in your reply on the previous article although i think for many its not hindsight. We have been crying out for a cb for ages and everyone wanted one in the summer. Many wanted a backup striker after losing Best and Lovenkrands and also an attacking fullback. Not hindsight for me but you are correct, its hard to criticise on the back of three signings in three days. If the man signs sissoko and another striker i would be very grateful and would find it hard not to sing his name if a comical chant broke out. Put it this way he is more likely to splash out again if we’re chanting in his favour as opposed to the fcb chant. Hope Pardew can get the lads playing. No more jonas or Willo in the 11 please

Comment #71Those who knock Amalfitano and say hes out of his depth blah blah blah dont have a clue!
Iv actually wanted to see more of him and when he has had the odd ten mins hes impressed and look sharp.
I think Pardew is taking his time with this guy and hasnt totally gained trust in him yet as hes only young. (You know what Pardews like).
Deffinately one for the future and would be stupid to let him go!
Id let him go out on loan to get some playing time if anything.
Dont doubt this kid, mark my word!

Comment #74Israeli Fan, think you’re undercooking Sissoko, he’s much, MUCH better than Diane …. He’s worth 10-15mill on a long-term contract. Don’t think I’ve ever seen such keen but effective buying in football before, looks like MA cracked the football market, with a little help from the master scout Carr 🙂
