Newcastle United have just announced they have completed the transfer of French international Moussa Sissoko from Toulouse for an undisclosed fee, thought to be around £2M.
The 22-year-old midfielder has signed a whopping six-and-a-half year deal at St. James’ Park and Moussa will wear the number seven shirt.
This is what Moussa said after signing today:
“I am delighted to be a Newcastle United player.” “This is a massive club playing in the best league in the world, and I believe my style of play is suited to the Premier League.” “I have heard lots about how fantastic the Newcastle supporters are and cannot wait to get started.”
“I am rising to a new challenge by coming here and want to firstly help the team improve this season and then progress after that.”
Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has this to say about his fourth new signing in four days:
“This transfer window has proved very productive for us and Moussa arriving today is a massive plus for the club.” “He will bring drive and energy to the squad, he is a winner and that’s why I’m especially pleased to have him with us.”
“What all our signings this window bring is essential competition for places and that is great for the remainder of the season.”
Toulouse is the only club Sissoko has ever played for – and he played almost 200 times for the French side, and the deal he signed today means he missed out on a signing fee in the summer – when he would have been a free agent.
So Sissoko has done right by his club – and he comes with massive personal ethics – and he’s not bad player either – having played 5 times for the full French side – and he’s a brilliant box to box midfielder who stands 6’2″ tall.
He’s simply a terrific signing for Newcastle United - there’s just no doubt about that.
Now here’s the question - who will we be signing tomorrow?
