Newcastle Have Signed A Real Character In Moussa Sissoko

Since Moussa Sissoko signed last week, he’s been interviewed many times – let’s make that many many times, and not only is Moussa a potentially great player in the making, but he’s also a real character – and is rapidly becoming a huge favorite with the Newcastle faithful – such is his impact since arriving at Newcastle United.

Moussa Sissoko – on the quayside – becoming a huge fan favorite already

And it doesn’t hurt that this lad turned down a big signing bonus to come to play for Newcastle in January, and help us out in our efforts to avoid the drop.

This is what Moussa had to say today – about the world, Newcastle United and life in general:

“I am delighted by it all. I could not have had a better welcome here at Newcastle. When you see a lot of people wanting photographs and autographs it is a fantastic feeling.” “I am really pleased to see the fans here and to hear of their expectations.”

“I am glad they are looking forward to meeting me.” “I’m very happy but I now need to get out there and show them that they have made the right choice in signing me.” “Of course, I want the supporters to be proud of me as a signing. And that starts tomorrow at Aston Villa.”

“I really, really wanted to be here in January. I wanted to come now.” “Obviously not everything depended on myself.” “There were a lot of other things that had to be sorted out. My agent and I discussed it and negotiated. We wanted to take the best decision.”

“Now I’m here it is great for me and great for the club as well.” “I want to get straight down to playing now and get to know the players here. I played with Toulouse right up until the end of my time there.” “I’m ready to get out on the pitch now. That will start straight away with training so I can get out on the pitch and start playing well together.”

The original plan was to sign Sissoko in the summer, but because of Newcastle’s precarious league position, Mike Ashley moved fast to get the player signed this month – and he will make a huge difference in central midfield for Newcastle through the end of this season.

Other clubs were also very interested in the player – which is another reason Ashley moved with lightning speed to sign Sissoko – who could be the next Patrick Vieira – we hope he is.

But as well as giving Newcastle great benefits on the field of pay – it’s great having a character like Moussa in the Newcastle squad. And as we said, he’s very fast becoming a fan favorite on Tyneside, and maybe in the years ahead he’ll also become a Newcastle legend.

We wouldn’t put it past this 23 year-old budding star – so here’s hoping. 😀

Certainly seems like the right sort of attitude as do all of our new boys. Seems like the club do some character analysis before signing players these days. Shame it didn’t happen when we got Ranger.

Completely forgot he gave up his signing on bonus . Shows that he wants to be here. This is the type of player we need. Young, hungry and not here just for the money, can’t wait to see him in action tomorrow night

Three guys who could become true Toon legends. What a great trio to build your team around.

Great signing! A midfield 3 of cabaye, tiote and sissoko is mouth watering! Still our best signing is mapou! Sissoko has potential to be world class but mapou is the finished article! People in france cant believe hes not gone to a milan or a real madrid and he is that good! Newcastle in france has a fantastic name with players but fans and managers hate them more by the day lol

pound for pound this player’s fee is tantamount to theft – for what we have paid compared to what we have got is quite frankly embarrassing – a better deal than Tiote and Cabaye put together!
To have landed almost the whole of the french national team’s midfield in Cabaye Sissoko and Ben Arfa for around £12 million is ridiculously good business, especially when you consider that was the asking price for Zaha well done Ashley and team!

I think that Mapou, and Moussa, must start tomorrow.
Saylor has been out for a long time so will certainly not be match fit, Moussa is a player that can and would fit into any side in the Prem, simple because of his power and skill, you do not become a French midfield international if you can not adapt

If we’re aiming to be a top 6 team consistently then we need to get replace these players over the next few windows. The way i think of it is would these players get in a spurs team? These players will not take the club forward. Players like Williamson have done a good job over the last few seasons but they aren’t good enough if we want to finish in the top 6. When these players come of the bench they do nothing.

    Debuchy Mbiwa Taylor/Colo Santon
    Anita Cabaye Sissoko
    Gouffran Cisse Marveaux

Hopefully that will be the team, I’m desperate to see them in action, I just hope Pardew doesn’t use the old excuse of it being to early and pick Gutierez instead of Sissoko and Shola instead of Gouffran, mind, from Pardew’s point of view it must by nice for him to have a choice for a change

We now have a proper team. These new signings will fire up the rest of the team. Even the squad players will have no choice but to push themselves with the exception of a certain gangster wannabe.

    Sissoko Cabaye Anita
    Marveux Cisse Jonas

I’m still getting over the shock of signing such good players. I’ve liked Anita from day one so pleased to see him making it. He really does have ability, and a fighting attitude. Hats off the Ashley, Carr and Co – I’m really impressed and sooo pleased. I reckon Sissoko is captaincy material depending on his english ability.

Agree with getting rid of the deadwood but I don’t think sammy is the finished article yet, he is still very young and hopefully with the star quality we’ve brought in it will spur him on and mature him into a toon star, gotta give him another season to see how he progresses,

On shola, I can’t see him leaving before the end of his contract, he is Newcastle through and through and a good 15 min sub, and our mackem slayer

Wouldnt write amalfitano off yet, hes a very good technical player who will benefit from training alongside hba and marveaux! Always felt hed take a long time to adapt and he could still come through! Gosling needs an injury free run, hes got a kevin nolan like knack of popping up in the box at the right time, could be a useful squaddie! Sammy needs a loan spell which hel probably get now, hes got ability, think hed be better suited as a centre forward tho, needs to rapidly improve his decision making! Shola is the best most effective centre fwd we have when coming off the bench with 10 mins to go and the least effective when starting, id keep him for that option of coming on late!

Agree with Sammy. He is young and to be fair has no wide players to show him how to develop in the role. Jonas is poor as is Obertan and HBA is a number 10 in its true sense. There are examples for him to learn from every day. He needs a little time among better players, which he may well get, or he needs a year at a league club playing every week.

I don’t know about Gouffran. Feels like he was a little knee-jerk after we failed on Remy.

I’ve never seen Gouffran play on the wing, he’s a striker, he mostly played alone up top.

Also, he is not that fast. He’s fairly pacy yes, but far from Walcott, Lennon etc. He’s probably around HBA fast.

I’m hoping he proves me wrong, but at the moment he’s the only one I have some doubts about. The rest are brilliant signings.

i agree with what you’re saying but gosling is yet to play back to back games for us in the last 3 years. regarding shola, is playing 10 minutes at the end of game justifying the money we’re paying him week in week out. We need to replace him with a young striker who can develop and offer more in the last 10 minutes than someone who might score 3 goals a season. Amalfitano will have to start showing what he can do soon because he isn’t exactly a young player anymore. Sammy Ameobi could still become a good player however he needs to improve massively on his decision making ,again when iv’e seen him he hasn’t impressed me.

Our downfall is that we dont get enough players forward and in the box, amongst other things. We hardly ever see a midfielder pass cisse and make a run in behind.

Aston Villa’s downfall is that they have a terrible defence, amongst other things.

Pardew needs to grow a pair and attack at Villa and we will score. Attacking midfield runs, Santon and Debuchy will win us the game tomorrow.

Benteke will win all his headers against Colo/Mbiwa so dont let them press high enough up the pitch to get dangerous balls in the box.

Thats your tactics for tomorrow Pardew. Done the job for you.

The arrival of the new players will give our youngsters now a chance to be loaned out instead sitting on our bench. They had their chance & didn’t grab them.

    M. Debuchy/ Mbiwa – J. Tavernier
    M. Haidara – S. Ferguson
    M. Sissoko – M. Abeid
    Y. Gouffran – Sammy Ameobi

Congrats to our youngsters Connor Newton at St. Mirren & Curtis Good at Bradford for making it to the final with their respective clubs. This is how to develop our youngsters. See what Spurs did with Kyle Walker & Kyle Naughton last year. We are slowly & surely following the blueprint of the great Arsenal of the 90s. An unknown player by the name of Patrick Viera made his way to Highbury. All the fans were askin ‘ Who’s Viera?’ A few games later, the same fans were askin ‘ Where’s Viera?’

These new signings may just be the catalyst we’ve been waiting for this club. I thank you Reading, McDermott, Le Fondre & Mike Ashley. Lets start our season tonite!
