Sissoko And Gouffran Both Start

6:56 pm, Tuesday, January 29th, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 895 Comments

aston villa

Moussa Sissoko and Yoan Gouffran both make their starting Newcastle debuts tonight at Villa Park for Newcastle.

New boy Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa is on the bench and of course Mathieu Debuchy also starts for Newcastle in this crucial relegation 6 pointer.

As expected,  Steven Taylor joins Coloccini in central defense for the Magpies and Mike Williamson is on the bench.

Aldo on the bench are the Ameobi brothers, Steve Harper, Vurnon Anita and promising teenager Gael Bigirimana.

Missing from the squad are Sylvain Marveaux and Gabby Obertan – and apparently Sylvain is carrying a slight knock – but should be fit for Chelsea on Saturday.

We need a win tonight.

Howay The Lads!!

Aston Villa – tba

Newcastle United (4-2-3-1): Tim Krul; Mathieu Debuchy, Steven Taylor, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Davide Santon; James Perch, Yohan Cabaye; Yoan Gouffran, Moussa Sissoko, Jonas Gutierrez; Papiss Cisse

    great news

  • 2 Jamesthefirst // Jan 29, 2013 at 6:58 PM

Depardew proves yet again that Jonas is undroppable. What has Anita done to be on the bench? Been our Man of the Match for 3 matches running.

Don’t care how we play tonight….JUST WIN

  • 3 Shane // Jan 29, 2013 at 6:59 PM

    Yay!

  • 4 santonthenewmaldini // Jan 29, 2013 at 6:59 PM

Cant believe Mbiwa is not starting!!!

Marveux is injured so that makes that decision a lot easier Anita probably could do with a rest mind you as he has played a lot of football recently for us

    Its crucial we score 1st

  • 5 nick_9 // Jan 29, 2013 at 6:59 PM

Anita could make a good impact sub guys. I’m hoping for big things from sissoko and gouffran. If they’re starting it shows they’ve made an impression

  • 6 TurkishFan101 // Jan 29, 2013 at 6:59 PM

Im calling it now, we have lost this 3-1 the players will turn against Pardew Im telling you, no pace on the bench, a non match fit Saylor when Pardew recently started Ben Arfa and thats the reason hes been out for over 2 months now. He will have to go for me and for our good, if we ever want to see good footie at all with this clown. Where is Obertan on the bench? why the F8**k is Anita on the bench? £6 million signing on bench for Perch championship player???? what the hell???

FYI, Pardew has a session with Jonas once a day both of them sucking each other off. This is why he is un-droppable.

  • 7 Spuggy // Jan 29, 2013 at 6:59 PM

    Saylor and colo makes sense.

Perch for Anita is debatable but it is away from home.

    Marveaux injured bugger.

  • 8 Tommyy // Jan 29, 2013 at 6:59 PM

    Anita!?

  • 9 check the toastie // Jan 29, 2013 at 6:59 PM

    SACK THE PR#CK. SIMPLE.

Anita must be gutted, an absolute f#cking joke. he is indefensible. clueless c##t.

Come on Tayls! Do us proud!

  • 11 JackButler // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:00 PM

Love the fact that our brilliant manager has decided to play Saylor, a man who has missed most of the season instead of M’Biwa who has played every game this season.
    As for Jonas and Perch………………………………CLUELESS

  • 12 Nufc4Ever // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:00 PM

Feel like we’re missing a MBiwa, but I really like the team.. Nice to see Gouffran getting a start even though he’s (imo) the most doubtful of the three.
Yeah, not including either Haidara or Deb ;)

  • 13 iggystinger // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:00 PM

We should be startin mbiwa hes been playin week in week out match fit taylor hasny played for months dodgy

  • 14 jettson1971 // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:00 PM

anita is 10x the player perch will ever be, we want technically gifted players in, not grafters, wat is AP thinking?? Im a perch fan, but not over players of Anita’s quality!!
Much prefer Obertan than Sammi on bench, Sammi is NEVER going to be a top flite footballer, he has no strengthm desire or fight!! bambi on ice !!

  • 15 Tommyy // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:00 PM

It is an absolute travesty that Perch is starting this game. Pardew what are you doing?

  • 16 89Norcal // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:00 PM

Maybe Perch is being used over Anita for extra height vs. Benteke

The guy wins alot of headers in midfield. If Saylor is starting good but no way should Willo be over Mbiwa

  • 17 KINGNUFC // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:01 PM

Gourffan is starter cause Marveux injured ..Pardew NEVER drop jonas when hes fit

  • 18 AmeobiTheMackemSlayer // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:01 PM

Whyyy Guti?!?!?! I’d rather have Sammy on tbh, gives us a bit of attacking flair at least!

  • 19 dominnit // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:01 PM

Forget Jonas put Sammy on! He’s shown when he’s came on as a sub and in the europa leauge he was breeze past players and put in great passes.

  • 20 WWYCD // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:01 PM

….still yet to kick a ball u bunch of wets

  • 21 toonLYF // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:02 PM

Don’t want to hear the “we haven’t kicked a ball yet” bollocks. I’m usually the most optimistic person around but there’s absolutely no reason an unfit Taylor should be ahead of a fully fit and bang in form Yanga-Mbiwa, he ain’t put a foot wrong for Montpellier this season, and now he is sitting on the bench of a club placed 16th in the league, in a must win game?

As for Perch over Anita, i have no words.

Jesus christ Pardew mate, you best hope this team turns up tonight otherwise you’re gonna’ be deep, deep in the sh**!

  • 22 geordiefromthemidlands // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:02 PM

Gouffran sisokko (charges forward) anita (charges forward) cabaye (better forward) cisse are all attacking or more attacking players. With some of villas fast players he needs someone back so perch and Jonas to cover when we break. Also anita will be our ace im the whole after 70 mins fast fresh legs and will stretch the game. Howay the lads

  • 23 gorgonzola ( former Pecorino former to gorgonzola) // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:02 PM

    MBIWA not playing….

    Perch playing….

    Anita not playing…

Pardew is a clueless gitt NOW I want him out….

  • 24 Blaydon-Toon // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:03 PM

Come on the Toon still more than good enough to win the game lets be right at them from the off. !

  • 25 KINGNUFC // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:03 PM

Why everone annoying on Perch..He always done his job on pitch , doing ugly job and play simple…

  • 26 89Norcal // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:03 PM

    Sammy over Jonas?

I’ve lost plenty of faith in Jonas but at least he doesn’t repeatedly lose possession. Sammy is decent in the EL but not the EPL

  • 27 nufc786 // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:03 PM

resting anita???? lad has worked his socks off for us but i like how he is calm on the ball and finds space and keeps the ball well for us even though a little less influential a cabaye but very affective….
perchy i think will sit back and let moussa go forward too… Saylor starting… him and colo have good partnership gives willo a nice LONG break and perhaps might take the pressure of him also

  • 28 JackButler // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:03 PM

Anita must be thinking what the hell’s gone wrong.

He’s been our best player this season and he’s dropped and Jonas only has to be able to stand up and he’s in the starting eleven, as for Perch being in for his aerial ability, he doesn;t bloody have any

  • 29 hazzy // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:03 PM

we will lose tonight. I know this because jonas starts and Marveaux cannot even make the squad the manager is a shambles of a man

  • 30 Spellcheck // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:03 PM

Cant believe Pardew persists with the 2legged giraffe, sammy ameobi….. now that we have a much stronger squad(although cud’ve done with another top class striker brought in). but hey CMON NEWCASTLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 31 achtoon // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:04 PM

Sissoko and Gouffran will both be in attack-minded roles for Newcastle, who line-up in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Senegalese international Papiss Cisse will lead the line on his own, supported by the trio of Gouffran, Sissoko and Jonas Gutierrez .

James Perch and Yohan Cabaye will anchor the Magpies’ midfield, protecting a back-four of Mathieu Debuchy , Taylor, captain Fabricio Coloccini and Davide Santon , with goalkeeper Tim Krul behind them.

  • 32 TurkishFan101 // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:04 PM

Exact Pardew quote “Well, I will once again put Jonas on the pitch, he drops from a light tackle, dives allot and wins us freekicks. I am just hoping he will win the freekick for Yohan and we score another free-kick to save us, we will then stick to defensive plan”

  • 33 boater // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:04 PM

No problem whatsoever with having Jonas in for his graft and ball retention. He played very well first half last game after a long time out. Real problem is we look toothless up front – a lot depends on Gouffran from here on in.

  • 34 John Tudor // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:04 PM

    100th and last game

  • 35 Ketsbaia9 // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:04 PM

With Marveuax, Obertan, Ben Arfa, Tiote and hopefully a new striker to come in, our team and bench will be very strong.

  • 36 Toonboy_84 // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:04 PM

Cummon lads. What a negative bunch. Look up the word supporter. That’s what we should be doing……… SUPPORTING!

  • 37 Tommyy // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:05 PM

We should be controlling this game on the deck, Anita is perfect for that. I’m utterly gobsmacked.

  • 38 Jayden // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:05 PM

Would you all really rather have Anita vs Bent(eke) or Perch? Anita would get BULLIED. A shame we don’t have Tiote with us tbh.

  • 39 Abbott // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:05 PM

    This makes sense…

Cant bring all new player in at once, even if they are better.
I understand why Mbiwa does not start away from home.
Two new offensive players debuts make more sense…
I would have Anita instead of Perch (Anita might not be 100% fit), but otherwise it looks wise tbh.

  • 40 John Tudor // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:05 PM

    4-1-4-1

  • 41 KINGNUFC // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:05 PM

have to say Marveaux is very unlucky…

  • 42 geordie157 // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:05 PM

Perch is in a holding role, so no issues with him starting, that gives Cab and Sissoko more freedom to get forward.

Is Marv injured?? Jonas is the one that needs to get his act together yet it’s Perch getting moaned at before a ball has been kicked.

  • 43 Sinner // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:05 PM

If we lose to Villa tonight then there is no doubt about it,we’re going down!

  • 44 JackButler // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:05 PM

Why do you risk starting a man thats been out for most of the season and leave M’Biwa on the bench????

    #baffled

  • 45 nufc786 // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:05 PM

jonas will help santon… he has lost his threat going forwards but he covers well

  • 46 MrMojoRisin76 // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:06 PM

FFS,the people who are saying where is Anita are clueless,Perch is in to hold the midfield, otherwise the full midfield will be attacking all game. Can’t believe some of our fans writing us off just by looking at the team sheet,Give your fcuking heads a shake.

  • 47 Ketsbaia9 // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:06 PM

We’ve also got Haidara to come in.

  • 48 toonarmydownsouth // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:06 PM

Sorry lads but “taylor maks sense” is bollox
Mbiwa is bang in form taylor hasnt kicked a ball in 2 months
Perch is playing to babysit the back line, which wouldnt need doing with 2 top CB’s playing

  • 49 89Norcal // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:06 PM

Perch is starting because of his added size vs Benteke

That’s the only logical reason I can think of besides Anita picking up an injury.

  • 50 jeff // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:06 PM

Sissoko’s a holding midfielder and an atacking midfielder. Sissoko should be in the holding role with Anita on the right.

  • 63 Sazzer // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:10 PM

Will it be more of a 4-4-2 or a 3-5-2?
    Krul
    Perch S.Taylor Colo
    Debuchy Cabaye Santon
    Sissoko Jonas
    Gouffran
    Cisse

no boater gutti needs to perform

  • 65 jeff // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:10 PM

Also this is probably above pardew’s level of intelligence but i think it is why perch is starting. Villa usually play a diamond midfield and their midfielderd sre often clustered in the centre and dont track back to the full back. I think pardew wants jonas and perch to cover santon and debuchy so we can effectively double up on their fullbacks (who are both young and inexperienced). The problem is we have gouffran and debuchy on one side, but who will help santon on the left?

  • 66 Levi // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:11 PM

  • 76 Ketsbaia9 // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:13 PM

  • 82 NUFCarter // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:15 PM

  • 83 toon1707 // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:15 PM

I am not bothered about perch starting ahead of Anita as he has played a lot lately and a rest might do him good and I think we will be doing a lot of attacking tonight so perch is more defensive to help out if we are caught on the break. However I am a huge saylor fan I think he is brilliant (when fit) but due to match fitness it’s stupid to not start with colo and Mbiwa tonight I think we will win 3-0

  • 84 TurkishFan101 // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:15 PM

Knowing our luck Bent will find his form back and hit a couple from distance along with Benteke, but I hope that is not the case. I m hooping for good tactical football, if not we are seriously going to be struggling tonight.

  • 93 Tommyy // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:16 PM

Perch is skinny and weak, he also goes to ground too easily when tackling leaving him exposed.
Anita may be small but he moves more and hassles players without diving in, I’d rather have him in.
I know my football as well as anyone and Perch shouldn’t be there unless Anita isn’t fit ( if that’s the case I’ll say fair enough)

  • 94 Jarra // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:17 PM

Fitness will win this game, last twenty m?nutes crucial this is Villa’s third game in a week, our first in 10 days. I like most of you hoped Marveaux for Jonas not sure why must be injury as not on the bench. Williamson on the bench is slightly worrying is that cause he is worried in case Taylor breaks down and does’nt want to risk the new lad.
I was so looking forward to the game hoping we would scare them with a positive team sheet, this looks slightly cautious at best.
Please do not paly to deep to defend they lack confidence and this can be exploited if we take the game to them as the Villa supporters may start to pan?c.
I really do hope you know what you are doing Mr Pardew?

  • 95 JP...from The Rock // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:18 PM

M’bwia – Bench because he has never played with either Saylor, Colo nor in the EPL for such a crucial match. Saylor will probably be replaced by him at the hour mark.

Anita- Probably dropped to come off the bench and surprise the opposition with his pace and creativity if we aren’t playing well already.

Marveaux – Injured sadly as I could have seen him starting ahead of Gutierrez this time finally.

All these decisions make sense in my eyes and some fans are NEVER SATISFIED and just want Pardew sacked even if we do win by 5-0 tonight- which I doubt would happen anyway. Some people have to get realistic and think things clearly sometimes and Pardew’s decisions make more sense.

  • 96 Spreadthetoon // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:18 PM

Substitutes: Steve Harper, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Mike Williamson, Gael Bigirimana, Vurnon Anita, Sammy Ameobi, Shola Ameobi

Shows that our bench is not as strong as we would like……..HBA, Marv definitely missed. I would have placed Obertan ahead of Sammy but that’s just my opinion.

I am very surprised that AP has put Sissoko in the offensive role with Cabaye deep with Perch. Its not what I would have done.

I hope that AP realizes that his job is on the line and we cannot afford to muck this up. Well he’s the manager and he knows the players so on this occasion I am not going to second guess him, I just hope we play well and hopefully get the win we desperately need. HWTL!

Btw defo think we need another striker IMO.

It will b a defensive ploy by pardew to play him. Obertan is he injured? Surely he is better than both Ameobi’s y is he not on bench?! Will b interesting see Gouffran and Sissoko play! But a win is a must!

Is it a gamble – time will tell I guess.

  • 102 antspants // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:19 PM

Anita at half time, fresh legs will cause them a problem. lets not forget they are playing for survival as much as us. I think that pards has set up on the defensive (again).
They will come at us but as long as we contain them for the first 15 i think the jobs done. As long as pardew dosnt make his predictable changes with 20 mins to go.

    VIVA LA TOON !!!!

  • 105 VanToonMan // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:19 PM

Guys chill out…the game has not even started yet! If we win 3-0 tonight will you all still say Pardew is a “git”. Maybe Anita needs a rest. Let’s just see how the game goes.

  • 106 toonLYF // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:20 PM

Pardew must be sitting in the dressing room right now absolutely bricking it!

Everything is pointing towards a Newcastle win tonight, Villa 3 at the back (if they actually play said formation), and the fact they’ve played 3 times in 10 days, failure to get this win could mean it’s Pardews last game in charge.

  • 111 JackButler // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:21 PM

Reports suggesting that Pardew put in a two footed tackle on Marveuax so he could be sure to start Jonas :D

  • 112 Ketsbaia9 // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:21 PM

Putting Williamson on the bench is a joke. Obertan can be a threat coming on as a sub. One CB on the bech is isn’t as we can shove Perch at CB as an emergency if Coloccini and Saylor both get injured. Hope Marveaux hasn’t done his groin again.

  • 113 JackButler // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:22 PM

Gouffran’s pace will cause Villa all sorts of problems tonight and if Sissoko hits the ground running then look out

  • 116 curmon // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:22 PM

Pardews excuse has been that he does not have the right quality of players to work with. Now he has got them and he does not use them. no more excuses, poor performances should result in the bullet.

  • 129 Spuggy // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:25 PM

With Marveaux and HBA out injured, surely Jonas is the next available option on the wing as Gouffran is playing.

Perch for Anita is subjective, but you can see why he would do that – Perch has put some cracking performances at DCM. Anita on 2nd half.

Saylor and colo is an established partnership so I’ve no problems with that. Mbiwa cant speak english yet and hasn’t played a competative game with colo.

I can understand why people want to see Anita on but he can be bullied of the ball and they are packing the midfield, it’s not going to be a free and open game.

I wasnt too happy about the squad neither but think about it.
jonas is only playing cause of injuries imo marv would of had the game over jonas.
Perch was picked over anita because anita is weak. He is quite creative and good at one touch football. But against the strength of benteke etc we need strength too and perch might not be strongest but he doesnt go down easy and he can defend good. (havent seen anita defend good yet its normally destinctivly avg). I think anita will come good and be an important player for us but we need a win today and perch makes us defensively better than anita does imo

Anita has played almost every minute in the past 3 months and has been becoming increasingly attacking in that time, Perch is more defensive and a good player when doing the rough and dirty stuff, same as Guti, he is no maradonna but offers protection…

Just like the parents of some of you posters should have done… offered protection!

Anita might as well put in a transfer request, if he cant be trusted playing in front of the back 4 away to Shiity relegation fodder like Villa, he will never be trusted,

Somebody needs to name a top side that would select a failed PL defender as a Centre midfielder, Anita has come from a side who thought he was the bees knees, have won leagues, he is a full international and Pardew overlooks him for Perch, wow just wow, Pardew has no idea on how football should be played.

SACK PARDEW, HE WILL ALWAYS HAVE THIS SQUAD UNDERACHIEVING.

  • 166 AaranPD // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:30 PM

Taylor and Colo at Cb is fantastic to see again! Mbiwa will come on later on to give Taylor a rest. Sensible decision from Pardew Taylor has the premier league experience needed for this game, Anita for Perch is a strange one but the more English lads in the team the better. (I don’t want to see another Arsenal v Portsmouth)

  • 167 Spuggy // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:30 PM

On Guti – I ask again, which winger would you play with HBA and Marv out?

He’s our only option, especially away from home in a battling game against a five man midfield and two decent strikers.

  • 168 JP...from The Rock // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:30 PM

We need a ST because until we do we (I) have to put up with seeing Shola near the team and on the bench at least! I really never liked him and the only plus from him is his hold up play and that he’s the Mackem Slayer. He can’t shoot along the ground, always slices the ball and is extremely lazy 99% of the time.

We can’t afford to have such a ‘luxury’ player on our team sheets.

We need a fast striker, with invention and good crossing and obviously a better ratio than Strolla’s abysmal one (but that’s easy).

Sorry for the rant but he irritates me every time. Now that our club status is in jeopardy again we desperately need to get one ST asap even on loan, because we need ‘goalscorers’ in our squad and Shola our second ST ain’t one!

We need a ST to complete the squad.

First time I saw the team sheet I must say I was a tad annoyed but on finding out Marveaux is injured that ruled out the only real qualm I had.
Perch for Anita is obviously because we’re away from home against a team that’s going to pack the midfield. Let’s not make any bones about it, it’s a dogfight. Perch will be flying around all over the place, I for one am always happy to see him in the team as he gives his best and he’s not actually that technically inept. Either he’s in there for that reason or Pards is paranoid about his 2006 Foreigngate interview as is trying to prove he still shops British…
Anita on second half after Perchy has picked up a well deserved yellow and clattered one of their boys… preferably Benteke but that’s a big job!
I would also like to add to the record my boundless happiness that we’re not playing 4-4-2. Come on lads! Let’s battle to a deserved 3 points and finally kick the season off…

This game will be a battle! Villa will be fired up after the last disastrous week. I like Anita a lot – but maybe we need a “cruncher” mid-fielder like Perch to allow Cabs and Sissoko to bomb on / spread the game. And we still have Anita in reserve. Let’s wait and see.

  • 199 beefman13 // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:37 PM

Manxpie, perch is the worst defender of crosses i have seen at the toon on a long time, he is a parcel, our manager is setting himself up again to get it in the neck, im praying we win, but perch and jonas in the team this season 10 per cent, hope im wrong , cisse gets those scoring boots on im praying, if we get a point i will be amazed, against a very poor villa. negative yes but ive seen Parde2w do this all season long, i suppose sissoko is the big plus, maybe he will sort it out and gouffran. do you think we will win?

  • 200 colwell // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:38 PM

  • 201 gorgonzola ( former Pecorino former to gorgonzola) // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:38 PM

Cisse is on the right today ?!?!?!?!?!?

  • 203 TurkishFan101 // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:39 PM

Fox reporting Cisse is RW, Gouffran up front??? If this is true, then cisse is going to be mad and off Im afraid, cant believe a new striker is up front rather then him… Pardew if that is the real lineup you will get shot you clown

  • 204 John Tudor // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:39 PM

exeter got a bid in for him

  • 205 toonLYF // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:40 PM

Cisse is not on the f-ing wing man! Do you’s really believe what Fox Soccer states as the line-up? they’re clueless man!

  • 206 HBA Blood Twister // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:40 PM

Fox Sports always get the line up wrong. Gouffran will be on the wing. Chill.

  • 207 ryanclarke // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:40 PM

Perch will have a great game as in my eyes hes mister consistent. We havent brought in five players to play them all strIght away we now have strength in depth and the ability to selectively pick our teams. I think we should boss the midfield even though there playin five across and goufrann if hes anybody should crucify fb. Obertan is piss poor fast yes but final ball crap. Offers nothing worth cryin about at least guti takes hes man on

  • 208 NUFCarter // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:40 PM

apparently the world record for the most french players in 1 team is 7. i think we’ve got 9. is that a bad thing?
So at some point this season i can guarantee we will beat that. Is that a bad thing

At least after this match our new french players can be put on the banner.

  • 214 TurkishFan101 // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:41 PM

@toonLYF they are just reporting what the manager has set up the team like, if they are wrong which I hoped as i stated on previous post then they are truly clueless!!

  • 219 Jamesthefirst // Jan 29, 2013 at 7:42 PM

Pardew has to go. Never ever ever put Cisse on the wing. He is our number 9. The whole focus should be about supporting him in a 4-3-3 where he excelled last season.

Unbelievable line-up and tactics. Pardew has lost every fan’s support with this. If he loses tonight he should be sacked.

Time to learn some French patriotic song. I spare you La marseillaise (would be a bit rude for a royalist country!).

    Let’s try this:

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh…

  • 413 2_goal_tino // Jan 29, 2013 at 8:27 PM

I know it’s villa but this is fantastic. Better than how we were for the vast majority of last season. Cabaye is the heart of our team, everything works when he’s in. Sissokho is looking like the buy of the season already. Gouffran has been pleasantly surprising as well. Offers a genuine threat from the flank with his speed.

Oh my god, I can’t believe how much of a difference having Sissokho has made! He offers something we don’t have i.e someone who picks up the space between the lines of defence!

  • 414 Toon-Prodigy // Jan 29, 2013 at 8:27 PM

    Excellent first half.

Everything looking good. Sissoko looks a class above every Villa player. This lad has really got something.

We have played decent, two quality finish’s from Cisse & Cabaye.

Sissoko with an assist for Cisse’s.

Good solid first half where we have played football and battled very well.

TADS – Told ya mate! He’s a player, this lad!

Now 45 minutes which will define our season. They will come out all guns blazing second half but we just need to keep doing what we are doing and limiting there chances!

  • 443 ToonDownSouth // Jan 29, 2013 at 8:34 PM

Interesting to see Krul distributing the ball to the back four a lot more than usual.

Is it because he finally has four players he trusts in front of him? Or is it because the players are making more of an effort to move into space?

A bit of both I imagine.

We also finally have more than one player (usually just Cabaye) looking to play through balls. Alas, the basics of football are finally being realised – since that’s all it should take to beat Villa.

  • 444 Robby Bobson // Jan 29, 2013 at 8:34 PM

  • 456 NUFCarter // Jan 29, 2013 at 8:36 PM

cabaye is definetely one of the top 5 midfielders in the prem – bit dissapointed in his corners though, thats where we really need to put pressure on em but hey ho. Sissoko is an absolute beast, motm atm. gouffrans been good guitierrez hasnt been too bad and back four with perch has been very impressive. the pressure is excellent on villa we are ripping them apart! Lets hope cisse hits form after this hes looking vry confident. its looking good for the toon. HWTL!

  • 457 hotdog // Jan 29, 2013 at 8:36 PM

Olivant – Just for you :-)
1st Goal – Sissoko slips a lovely ball down the edge of the box – Cisse through and buries it.
2nd Goal – Guti clips a ball in, headed to the edge of the box. Cabaye sets the ball lovely with first touch and half volleys with swerve into goal. Brilliant Strike

Must posts are rightly saying how well the new lads are doing but it is no coincidence we look more solid at the back with taylor and Perch is having a cracking game in front of them. One final thing the movement from players is excellent you see players popping up in all different positions.

All good lets not blow it, this Villa side are full of bairns does not look good for them. My mate is a big villa fan so im probably in the minority but would not want to see them go down.

Just amazed at why Anita was dropped for Perch.

Wow just what the doctor ordered

    When we needed it most!

Super first half against a very poor villa

Goofy debuchy and sissoko completely changing the look of the team

    Keep er lit lads!

    Theindian

You’re kidding right perch tackles have been immense adding some steel to midfield

  • 472 HBA Blood Twister // Jan 29, 2013 at 8:40 PM

I can see Mbiwa coming on for Tayls after 70mins bearing in mind he’s been injured. Looking forward to that – He’s probably our best signing.

  • 473 WWYCD // Jan 29, 2013 at 8:40 PM

Perch has allowed Sissoko and Cabs to get forward Anita wouldn’t of done that imo so fair play to Pards on that Tiote will take that spot when he’s back and Anita will rotate with both Sissoko and Cabs imo

On the new lads Gouffrans working hard and has some skills but also has the ‘don’t touch me’ style that Marv does (for now) and Sissoko well he’s certainly made a impact playing a lot higher than I expected but he’s making it work well

Old guard Cisses making runs, Santons playing intelligently (though not being attacked tbf) more so for Debuchy and Cabs well we all know of my love for him

  • 474 HullMag6 // Jan 29, 2013 at 8:40 PM

    So far so good….

Anybody else think if the vainquer story is true that mr t might be on his way out?

There’s an odd 3 way move crossed my mind. Sturridge to fool (done), Mr t to Chelski and the prodigal son returns – daft i know but just a thought.

    Hoping for 5 tonight.

  • 475 soundoid // Jan 29, 2013 at 8:40 PM

20 mins in we had 80% of the possesion. Villa are poor to be honest making us look like Arsenal:)

  • 476 niafron // Jan 29, 2013 at 8:40 PM

To be honnest, i was a bit worry.

A team is generaly made of 15 or 16 players who really got time on the pitch.

So 5 new lads mean to remove a third of the former squad.

If we had to that they are all from the same country, it was worrying for the dressing room.

    And it still is.

But the good news is Debuchy, Gouffran and Sissoko seems to be immediatly operationals.

  • 477 Jamesthefirst // Jan 29, 2013 at 8:40 PM

Just imagine how much we would have kicked on this season if this lot had been bought last summer. We are easily a top 6 team with this lot.

    Cabaye is world class.

Sissosko for 2 million. Ha ha ha ha. Unbelievable signing.

  • 478 Novocastrian66 // Jan 29, 2013 at 8:41 PM

Delighted with that first half performance. Took a grip and never let go. We need to keep our hands on Villa’s throats, metaphorically speaking, and finish them off. One more goal should do it.
My pre-match gloom unfounded up to now. What a difference Sissoko has made.

Sissoko and Cabaye are getting rightly praised however the main man so far for me is Papiss Cisse

Well taken goal and is working so hard chasing people down and actually winning tackles

So glad we kept the nice hard working Demba Not the greedy selfish Demba!

on another postive note we still have our own messi to come back into the team

cause lets face it ben-arfa is the closest thing we will ever get to a messi ever!

  • 482 Jarra // Jan 29, 2013 at 8:42 PM

Football football football simple easy passing and a few times Sissko just splits the defence up with cutting passes. Believe me those who have not seen the first half we are playing football like a team. Yes I know Villa are poor but so was Reading. All positives no negatives, would love to see a couple more goals then bring on the other new French lad and give taylor a rest a long time out and no need to be careful but superb first half performance exactly like we all hoped for.
Nothing stupid second half same again please.
Credit to you Mr Pardew tactics excellent, dont fuck it up lol

TADS – I just hope he has learnt his lesson mate!

Lets not worry about where villa will end up, let’s just get the second half tackled in the same way as we went about the 1st, take all 3 points home and THEN discuss everything else!!!

    HOWAY THE LADS! :-)

  • 485 Spreadthetoon // Jan 29, 2013 at 8:42 PM

Lets close out the match by carrying on the great work that we’ve done this 1st half! Sissoko amazing and bossing mid-field and Gouffran bags of energy, loads of running of the ball and that is creating spaces for others. Impressive performance – pls Pardew carry on the 2nd half the same as 1st! HWTL TOON TOON TOON TOON VIVA LE TOON VA VA VOOM, DA BOOM THE TOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spuggy – I know Perch has been immense, may be coz he has a great back 4 for him today. But I’m talking about team selection.. Anita should have had a nod infront of him. May be coz Anita is more attack minded and Perch is more like a CDM. Working well with front 5 looking very forward.. Would love to see Anita at some time though.. 10 mins to time say.. :-)

I do agree that Jonas does seem to slow things down – although when he has the right players around him he links up play very well.

I hope he can improve his tackling as adapt his game as a DM, since he’d be a good box to box player to bring on late in games.

Good first half, can see why Perch is playing, he’s doing a good job in front of the back four. Hopefully Jonas can improve second half, shown a few glimpses of his old self in the first half.

Sissoko, Debuchy, Cabaye and Gouffran all look good. Cisse also looks happier knowing that he has some better service.

4 or 5 nil please lads, with Mbiwa and Anita coming on for the last 20mins.

I think Gouffran may get a debut goal tonight

In two minds about Tiote, if a bid of say 15mill came in i’d say sell him, get Diame in and spend the other 11.5 on a striker.

on the other hand a back in form Tiote with Cabaye and Sissoko is very tasty on paper.

  • 506 BigKirky // Jan 29, 2013 at 8:48 PM

  • 507 beefman13 // Jan 29, 2013 at 8:48 PM

I didn’t get chance to get on the blog before the game kicked off, so I’ve only just read the comments. I have to say some of you lot are pathetic. “We’re gonna lose this” “Pardew needs sacked” “Mbiwa on the bench, even though he’s been in form blah blah blah” “Anita not starting.” I’d love to see Anita try and out muscle Benteke and Bent…they’d destroy him, Mbiwa has been in form…IN FRANCE….this is a big game for us, was better not to take the risk of him not being completely up to pace, and instead has 2 CB’s that know each others game well, as for us losing the game because of the team selection….so much for that huh? Some of you need to take a long, hard look in the mirror and ask yourselves if you deserve to be fans of this club. Judge the team selection when the game is over, that way you don’t look like a twat. As for those who ate humble pie after seeing the first half…credit to you, I have to respect that.

Cannot understand how we have slipped in this second half.

Also cannot understand why jonas is still on.

He isn’t sharp enough, doesn’t get on to loose balls, doesn’t even bring pace to the wing. Gives it away.

I get Shola being on he leads the line well and plays possession.

Anita should’ve come on for jonas, he has energy and closes down players.

Jonas tries to contain at the halfway line.

We’re sitting back and letting them attack.

Doesn’t work in the modern game, we should be trying to out play them like first half today and first half reading.

You keep possession through playing well not playing safe.

On the plus sissokho was awesome and Gouffran showed some decent stuff. Unselfish, good work rate, pace, tracks back. All good attributes for a second striker.

Cisse needs to be more imposing, he has lost all threat because of his movement.

Perch played well, good passing, good retention

    Squeaky bum it e now

Just want to say, this second half has not to do with pardew.

Villa rattled us, we have low confidence and villa came out of the blocks at us and after a comfortable first half we got scared.

We also haven’t shown enough composure and calm to grab the game back from villa.

We needed to slow it down if they are coming at us with this intensity.

    He is clueless.

Jonas must be sucking his fat one every day in training.

If we sat back any further we’d have 11 men in the goal mouth.

Pardew is a dinosaur, his tactical knowledge is history not for modern day football.

If Pardew honestly looks at Shola Ameobi and sees a player who is contributing something to the team, then he needs to leave, now.

I’m pleased with the 3 points, a brilliant effort by the new players, but Pardew unfortunately resorted to type as soon as we were under pressure. Pathetic.

My god I stood up for Pardew today but here is my thoughts!

    1. Team selection, thought it was odd STaylor playing despite no match time, thought it was odd Perch played instead of Anita.
    2. Subs WHAT ON GODS GREEN EARTH WAS PARDEW THINKING?! Mbiwa CM? Shola ST? Cisse RM? Anita for Gouffran was the only sensible swap holding onto a lead.
    3. Mbiwa is he doing in CM, he look lost. He is a centre back?! Then AMEOBI was in CM and Mbiwa a CB was ST I mean seriously?!
    4. Jonas was woeful tonight!

I seriously am doubting my backing of Pardew first half was excellent, but seriously 2nd half? where is the composure?

Final minutes where is taking the ball into the corner and holding the ball!

This does not inspire me with confidence I really hope we are the first half team not the second half!!

Stupid subs again, Cisse playing Right Wing Back, Anita Central forward and played right wing. Shola up front, Jonas stayed on for the whole game. Mbiwa’s first game central defensive midfielder, this is a huge confidence problem which will have hit Mbiwa as we seen on the pitch. This guy is a Muppet, we barely scraped it this game. I actually cant understand Mbiwa in CM he looked lost, his confidence will not be exactly high from that!

Pardew if you put another CB on the field play 3 at the back FFS!

Leave Perch on dont put Shola on leave Cisse up to, or take Cisse of for Shola.

Leave Sissoko on, take JONAS OFF he was woeful for Anita.

    Go to

    ————————— Krul ————————-
    Debuchy — STaylor — Mbiwa – Coloccini – Santon
    —————– Anita – Sissoko – Cabaye ————
    ————————– Shola ————————-

I am scared to see all this player potential being strangles by an absolute gitt called Pardew…he was absolutelly atrocious again tonight….

Ashley I dont think is off the hook….he may have bough us players, but half the season down the line..

But he still delivered…Pardew still has to show that he can manage a team..so far he is absolutely embarrassing…

Sissoko is a signing of the season….

we need a player like Obafemi martins as a CF….this wont work…

  • 852 brighter // Jan 29, 2013 at 9:49 PM

Pardwe embraced Jonas just after the game on the pitch.
It was extremely unpleasant to watch them.

  • 853 BigKirky // Jan 29, 2013 at 9:49 PM

Couldn’t string 3 passes togther in the last 20 mins.

We aren’t good enough to just sit back like we were for about half an hour. Awful. So much of a contrast to the excellent first half

  • 854 Earl // Jan 29, 2013 at 9:50 PM

Remember guys, this is our first away win of the season. What a huge result that was. You forget last season, we used to do the exact same. Go up 1 or 2 at half time and defend a lead well. . A week or two ago, we would have capitulated. Krul was so commanding today and I was very impressed with Sissoko. Everyone put their graft in, and I’m proud of them.

  • 855 KINGNUFC // Jan 29, 2013 at 9:51 PM

I rather have williamson on the pitch than jonas…
hes clueless..doing nothing but play 90min ..give the ball away every time , his positioning is really bad .. always sat too back with santon and let opponent cross like set piece..

  • 856 Bambams // Jan 29, 2013 at 9:51 PM

Not sure if you will have seen it but sky sports went straight to the ground at the end of the whistle and Pards was almost consoling Jonas. he was embracing him yet Jonas looked devastated ! Maybe he knows he is not playing well or were the crowd having a go at him ?

  • 857 DanRo // Jan 29, 2013 at 9:52 PM

Firstly, what a massive three points.
That is the most important point.
In the context of the situation and the game that is all important.
First half – hugely impressive, good passing, plenty of possession, signings excellent.
The second half was a surreal situation. Villa had to go for it all guns blazing. Villa’s physicality and aggressiveness was beyond acceptable at times but it was expected. I don’t agree with the tactics in the second half but the result was the most important point in the match and the context of the season.

  • 859 hotdog // Jan 29, 2013 at 9:53 PM

TURKISH – hahaha take a rest, that was more stressful than exams from what i can remember a while ago lol

People saying we were defensive and why was Krul kicking long – Think about it please, two teams playing and villa pushed right up and had a good go. Yes we should have retianed the ball better and that was a perfect game for young cambell IMO as he would have had a threat up front. Agree Jonas was struggling again and didnt get Shola upfront but massive win that.

We should have gone to 5-3-2 the last minutes and should have used mbiwa as third cb and not dm… I really don’t understand what pardew did and why Jonas didn’t came off he was too slow in both pace and thinking…

  • 867 MrMojoRisin76 // Jan 29, 2013 at 9:55 PM

Turkish”Fan”.This is what you posted when the team news came out.

  • 868 beefman13 // Jan 29, 2013 at 9:55 PM

Jonas will start against Chelsea without doubt, he is prob 3rd or 4th on team sheet, mind boggling, he just is the biggest headless chicken i have seen.

And it may seem like pick on Jonas day but he is offering nothing, virtually everyone can see it Alan!?!?

  • 869 Robby Bobson // Jan 29, 2013 at 9:55 PM

Didnt see first half but sounded like a football game and we were a different class.

Lamberts team talk was obviously they all foreign pansies go kick them and we had to see out 15 minutes, but debuchy decided he didnt want to!

Then villa showed their true colours and just hoof hoof hoof. We shut up shop and said go on then do something…and they just hoofed hoofed hoofed.

MOTM (seeing as i turned it on at half time) was Taylor. Colossus against benteke who bosses every centre half ive seen him play againt.

  • 870 noladonna // Jan 29, 2013 at 9:55 PM

jesus that was lucky bout time we had some luck once again ive no idea what pardew said to the players at half time but yet again we see a diffrent team second half not for the first time surely wont be the last silly challenge from debuchy an experienced international really put us under pressure

see pardew rubbing his cock up jonas at the end hahaha

F##k me first half passing it like arsenal second half hoofing it like derby county.

Fair play to Villa looked nervy and well rubbish first half. By ther end of the game you would think we had played 4 games in 10 days.

Sub’s were poor I thought Perch was ace! I liked the way he roughed up Weimann after he’d being bullying Jonas. He does not get enough praise.

Pardew’s subs were rubbish he should have put on anita for Jonas Sissy should have stayed on and mbiwa for Taylor.

Mbiwa must be thinking WTF what an I supposed to do?

Great first half. Need to improve our fitness and pards field a stronger bench. We need a striker. IMHO

  • 873 TurkishFan101 // Jan 29, 2013 at 9:58 PM

@hotdog I agree with you but if this performance is carried on to Chelsea and games after that we are truely getting no points. If this one a one off with pardew trying to again test his skills by playing players out of their position then fair enough he is still stupid for doing that. Positive note, Sissoko is a beast, Cisse can still finish with an excellent finish, Cabaye awesome, Santon awesome, Saylor not 100% match fit yet, Debuchy did one error with that penalty. Gouffran was awesome and Krul has kept us in with his excellent extincts. Krul had no choice other then to play long ball, pardew has demanded that from him or he couldn’t pick out any of our players!

  • 874 ToonDownSouth // Jan 29, 2013 at 9:58 PM

I’m not a ‘neggar’. Far from it.

Everyone who posts here regularly will know that I’m one of the biggest fence sitters on here – second maybe only to Ibiza. So hopefully when I’m furious and resigned to the fact that Pardew is going to relegate us, it holds more weight than those who constantly rant and moan.

Those were the tactics of a mad man. Cisse is not a right winger, Anita is not a left midfielder, and Shola Ameobi is not a footballer.

strolla came on to win headers and rough a few of them up… he did exactly that, sometimes the big guy needs used and if ever the time it was tonight mbiwa was the same a defensive player on to chase down in mbwia and prevent them playing football, our boys are adapting to a system, they played with heart tonight everyone to a 14th man, they played with fight, a team desperate to win not to draw it was a physical game and they handled it well albeit a bit nervously 2nd half, we are 16th and fighting for wins and if you ask me for the last 20 mins would you want to put the heavies on and bring guns to a swordfight to keep it out, tiote in there up to speed with a run of games in the ACON we’ll do alright!

Some “fans” on here are shocking.

We haven’t been picking up points – especially away from home. They come out on fire after the break and get a dodgy pen.

Obviously we would get nervous. This team has to regain confidence with wins and then we will see much more composure in similar positions.

Show some loyalty – Pardew will lead this team to glory.

  • 882 Robby Bobson // Jan 29, 2013 at 10:01 PM

noladonna…i dont think it was lucky.

The last 20-25 minutes was tactical to sit back and let them hoof it…krul had obviously been told the area is yours and taylor was givin as good as hes getting against benteke.

We were under alot of pressure, but apart from the first 10 minutes of the second half, villa didnt really have any chances, all 50/50 looking for scraps and we gave them nothing.

Defending like that shouldnt be put down as luck.

  • 883 CJ // Jan 29, 2013 at 10:03 PM

Jonas was poor. Shola for perch did not make sense. Mbiwa in mid field was desperate tacctic. Worst for me though. Santon defensivey. Left acres of space for attacks down the wing. Most danger came from crosses from left

  • 884 nick_9 // Jan 29, 2013 at 10:03 PM

Villa attacked 30% down our right, 50% down the middle and 20% down our left. Not much of an imbalance really.

Again I’m left questioning what Pards said at half time, we look rubbish under pressure/sitting back regardless of whether its a tactic or not. Strange choice taking off sissoko and gouffran who looked ok but if guess he thought the pressure would be a lot. Still left pretty worried about Chelsea but I reckon we would avoid defeat or snatch a win. I’m sure Ba will get a lovely reception

  • 885 yo-yo // Jan 29, 2013 at 10:04 PM

The subs and tactics were okay what’s the fuss ?

Villa came at us hard, high tempo second half and really shook us second half . Difficult to play the passing game given the hacking going on. They are just as desperate as we are to get points.

Missed the pen my stream went down. Was it dodgy ?

Villa were real hard – lots of fouling 4 yellows – I thought they were lucky to end with 11 men. Shola was used as a hold up player when we were getting overrun and to add height in set pieces. If we’d got any chance of counter attacking last fifteen minutes he would have been fine to play someone in.

Anita can play both CDM and AM and was there to try to intercept their midfield passing as well as play us forward on the ground. He’s good at chipping the defence and as Shola was target man….Not a bad call in my book.

Mbiwa plays CDM as well as CB – basically we were gettting endless high balls into our box so Pards puts on another player who can deal with them. Three CBs against the endless high ball tactic – what is wrong with that ?

Guti lost the plot after he got raked. He lost his cool big time. Cabs knackered by the end – still needs to get full match fitness.

We won ugly in the end but we really can play great. Sissoko and Gouffy looked good. We need to put two halves together. Patience mon amis it will come.

  • 886 JP...from The Rock // Jan 29, 2013 at 10:06 PM

Gutierrez had a nightmare match. Awful and should have been replaced by Sammy Ameobi as Marveaux was injured before the match, something most of you have still not realized.

If Marveaux is fit and Gutierrez starts again I would start to believe that Pardew has a man crush on him. Gutierrez has been awful all season and should be dropped. Though it must be said he made a crucial block to prevent Villa drawing level. What a nervy second half that was I nearly had a fit.

We won so let’s celebrate, now we have a 4 point cushion from the bottom 3.

We can breathe a little easier now ahhhhhhh… :)

  • 887 Moussaonfire // Jan 29, 2013 at 10:06 PM

    Hey Guys,

I’ve been reading this forum for a while now, but this is my first post. Looking through, it seems like theres so much negativity, some of it justified.

    My view on tonight:

We played brilliant and solid first half, we dominated.

Moussa slotted in seamlessly, which Pardew said he would. Gouffran seems like he’s going to need time, but theres promise there. Taylor is not match fit, but was the best choice available, as Williamson has no confidence and Mbiwa is new.

Second half, you have to give villa credit they threw everything at us, the penalty was dubious and it gave them a life line. But Pardews subs did make sense tonight and that’s whats annoyed me about a lot of people being negative.

Villa were playing route one we needed hight and shola gave us that, he also stopped the centre backs from having so much time on the ball. Anita bought a bit more composure to the side when he came on. And finally you’re wrong and mbwia, he can play DM if you bothered to do the reading on him, you’ll find he also played there in Champions league.

See things how they are, yes we’re not playing amazing and dominating 90 mins. But we’re a side well out of form, nervous and unsettled. I do think we’ve got it wrong for most the season and I’m not throwing excuses out there, but we are where we are, just get behind the team and scream your lungs out! Pardew aint going nowhere!

I don’t think people understand just how big of a result this actually was.

We have not won on the road all season, It was a 6 pointer, players coming back from injury, new signings under pressure to perform AND people are still CRYING. Do people not understand confridence and morale was at rock bottom after the Reading game. Infact it has been all season!

Im gobsmacked at some of the negative comments, and even more so at the slating of Pardew. Erm, hellaw? We have just won man? Yet people still try and find a reason to slate him haha. Get off his back man!

What hope is there for you’s? He is dammed if he wins dammed if he dosn’t? Comical.

Reading this blog through that match I could of sworn some posters really wanted us to lose that game just so they could cry at Pardew and back their theorys up. I highly suspect.

These supporters are 10 a penny. No doubt about it.

Im absolutely buzzing after tonight, well done lads.

Next, we will do our upmost to turn Chelsea over at St James. I really fancy a win here.

    HTL!

  • 892 Newcastle for alltid // Jan 29, 2013 at 10:14 PM

First of all what a massive 3 points. They really don’t come much more important than that. Now we can take on Chelsea with a little less pressure, which is a really good thing.

The match itself was a little case of mixed emotions. The first half was brilliant, and we were battering Villa like we should. Villa, feeling sorry for themselves, were simply no match.
The second half, what a turnaround that was. Villa came out flying, really laying pressure on us. I don’t think we handle pressure well at all. It was easy to spot that some of the french new players were used to having more time on the ball, Debuchy included. He had a shaky game, giving away a needless penalty, even though Agbonlahor was overdoing it. Agbonlahor really tested Debuchy, who looked like he fought in the trenches during World War I. Not too worried on Debuchy though, he’ll adapt, and so will the other French players as well. Sissoko had a good game, took it easy. Gouffran was quiet and didn’t get included enough. Mbiwa was ok, but he’s no midfielder. So I wouldn’t be too harsh on our new players, they’ll settle after a while.

Whats worrying is how the team plays when leading a game. We suddently stop passing the ball along the ground, playing hoofball and losing out possession time and time again. This will tire out our players, and enable the opposition to attack frequently. We did this at Reading, and again today. Panic comes to mind, whether it’s enforced by the manager, I don’t know. They say attack is the best form of defence, which is true to some extent in football. Having our side too far up in the pitch will leave us exposed in the back, playing hoofball and laying low like we did today will cause the opposition to come at us time and time again. It’s about finding a balance, something Pardew and the teams fails in doing at the moment.

Last, don’t be too worried about the second half. Today was a special day, and no-one should get surprised by Villa coming at us like they did second half. They are fighting for their PL status, and playing their hearts out at home is the least they can do. The Chelsea game, may, IMO be an easier game. It may sound ridiculous, but today was a very special occasion, where everything could’ve happened.

Btw. I’m sure the Army would be very interested in what Gutierrez has covered his boots in. The ball just deflects off. Would be brilliant for warfare with all the bullets flying in.

so many absolute idiots on here, its funny, constantly slagging off the team, and manager, first half we where so good it was unbelievable really, beat them in every way and scored 2 goals, so pards insnt going to completely roast his side after seeing that, villa came out all guns blazing, put us under the kosh big time for more or less 45 mins, lambert clearly slapped em silly and more or less told em there season was on the line in the next 45, and we where brilliant, held our lead even though they had all the momentum after there pen, we looked shaken big time, debuchy clearly wasnt expecting agbonlahor, nor did he have a clue about his pace (ok probs pardews fault) and i doubt any of the new boys and maybe even some of the lads already in the side had experienced that sort of bombardment before, but they managed to keep them out all half!!! rode our luck a bit but didnt we last year? danny simpson made countless goal line clearances and krul wouldnt be gettin courted by milan if he didnt have to make any saves last year… aston villa had so much to prove, they where at home and thats there possibly 5th loss on the bounce (dunno dont really follow villa) the fact we only conceded once in that half from a pen is a credit to the lads, and pardew, his changes where spot on today, shola for perch gave us a target and probably confused them as we where under it at the time, then goufran for anita was perfect, and then mbiwa for sissoko was spot on aswell, as mbiwa made that crucial block towards the end, which was the closest they came all half really… considering that was our first go with those new lads, under a lot of pressure, away from home, that was a bloody good performance, really proud of em today, all these people slating of pards need to take a look at what we just did, not easy being expected to win, and gutierez, the mans solid, he allows santon to go forward freely, ok hes shite at attacking now, but he closes down for 90 minutes and causes them grief all game, garuntee they would have scored again if he wasnt playing, obertan and marveux dont do that, and today was a must win. obviously would liek to see obertan or marvs get that spot and only use guti as a sub if we wanna hold out, but we needed this today, sometimes i think the team and pardew cant win with you lot shearly cos he’s southern and thats fucking pathetic. great win for the lads, would have thought the team might get a bit of backing after that from you “fans”, but it seems alot of you are blind, bloodthirsty, biased losers who have nothing better to do than slag of the team they are supposed to support, imaging they are managers, when i doubt most of you have played a game in your life, or could even cunger up a walk down the shops these days…
