Mbabu Signs For Magpies – Abeid Sent On Loan

As expected Newcastle completed the transfer of the 17 year old Swiss youngster Kevin Mbabu  from Servette for an undisclosed fee, estimated at around £1M.

Kevin Mbabu training at Newcastle today

The 17-year-old center-back is one of the top young defenders in Switzerland, and Newcastle beat out Manchester United to his signature.

Mbabu joined Servette only six months ago and played once for the first team last September, when he came on as a second half substitute against Lausanne.

The is what Kevin said after signing along the bottom line for Newcastle:

“I am delighted to join Newcastle United,” he said. “Today is a big day for me. I’ve always wanted to sign for a club in the Premier League and Newcastle is one of the biggest there is.”

“I want to finish my development here with the Reserves before one day training with the first team and hopefully breaking into the first team.”

Kevin will go straight into the Development squad and Scot Willie Donachie, the manager of Newcastle’s Development squad, had this to say about his latest acquisition

“Kevin is strong, confident, skilful and a very good prospect. “He still has a lot to do as he is only 17-years-old, but I saw him playing for Switzerland Under 19s against Scotland and he did really well. “He can play central defence or right-back and if he keeps working hard then he could have a great future in the game.”

We welcome Kevin to the club.

And Mehdi Abeid has agreed to go out on loan to St. Johnstone in the Scottish Premier League until the end of the season.

The 20 year-old sent out this on his Twitter account after the loan was agreed:

“Départ for saint johnstone on loan for the rest of the season! #needa game!”

Abeid has so far made just two FA Cup appearances for Newcastle, and we’re sure the loan spell with do Mehdi the world of good, because he needs to play some first team games.

21 year-old Paul Dummett will rejoin St Mirren on loan following a very successful loan spell earlier this season, and we expect other top youngsters like Shane Ferguson, Sammy Ameobi and James Tavernier to be sent out on loan to play some first team games through the end of this season.

PS – still a few hours left for Newcastle to sign Ricky van Wolfswinkel from Sporting Lisbon – now that the club have convinced everybody they are doing no more deals in January.

A window of opportunity – we wish. 😀

    Transfer Sage

The point I was making earlier though was that Villa would never have outclassed Cabaye and Sissoko in the midfield, so we didn’t need Anita’s technical abilities, and we saw that very clearly in the first half. Yet still people want to slate Pardew for it.

Putting Anita in as a CDM would have invited Villa to play toward’s Benteke. Perch is obviously the better match up in size and strength. We already know Anita for all his effort, can get bossed off the ball easily. Yet again some people here ignore that for the sake of winning an argument.

Having a 6’1” DM on Benteke was a much better deterrent, and Villa attempted to play less direct instead.

It’s nice to sit back and relax on deadline day.

TS and Torq post rumours before they happen?

Yeah. You’re going to have an easier time convincing me Santa Claus is real.

Especially with all those supposed “medicals” we were having over the summer according to Sage.

I don’t know why I come back to this blog.

You can’t win with some people! Perch did his job, we won the game! They are all arm chair managers, play fifa and football manager and think that they could manage a football team! Most couldn’t manage at Sunday league level!

well stay away as them two are true fans who pass on info they are given to try and help out fellow fans who are less fortunate than them in the knoledge of transfers. imo most bloggers look forward to there posts as fans of our club as they are more often on the money than not.

Checking the stats from the other night and Perch didnt beat Benteke in the air once, so just what is the point of your argument.

In fact Perch didnt go anywere near him, i agree with Transfer Sage though and thought Perch did well, as he always does, should have stayed on actually, but Pardrip started making bewildering substitutes again.

Yes also agree i can just about accept Perchy playing CM to put his foot in, however Anita should still have played instead of Gutti, he could have played right and Goofy left but that is history now. Perch playing is fine with me, but Anita should also be playing for sure.

And Shola and Jonas should be nowhere near considered a start on current conribution.

Please tell me what medicals I said were due over the summer?

The only one I said I thought was happening was debuchy. I hold my hands up, got it wrong.

But I only ever tell what I hear, there’s a 50/50 chance things at right, if anything less as my friend isn’t involved directly in transfers.

Look at my posts from December where I said we would have our busiest window for ages at get at least 3/4 players.

I don’t claim to know anything for certain but it’s good to pass on what I know.

Torq is the one who has the best info though

    Norcal,

    Cheers bud.

Ahh well, cisse, gouffran, shola & ranger then.

Looking at that, we will hit problems for goals if any one or two are injured. With shola’s injury record and lack of goals it dosn’t make for good reading. Especially as we have europa games aswell.

Lets hope benny, cabaye, gouffran & marveux chip in with enough.

Odemwingie has created a bit of a situation hasnt he? He has just drove to QPR to force a move through haha. Even Harry didn’t know he was coming. West Brom are going wild

Ill mention that Natalie Sawyer again from sky sports news as she is a stunner!

Top shelfer! Cracking pair on her aswell

    She deserves a mention today

It’s ok. I don’t mind if people don’t want to believe me. Each to their own.

I just don’t get why people criticise people like me and torq on this blog when most articles written in here are speculation which is taken from papers which rarely develops into real bids.

I like this blog, ed writes some great articles and brings a lot of rumours together which are always interesting.

I think if people only want official news on transfer they should just stick the clubs official site. They’ll soon get bored of that.

Thanks fellas for your kind words and support but sometimes it’s simply not worth the effort.

People are more than capable to skipping past my posts if they don’t like/agree/care about what I write.

I’m sure people like that were the ones bitching about me when I mentioned in November about us being in for Yanga-Mbiwa – water off a ducks back mate.

Anyway…Odemwingy (sp) at QPR without permission??? Oops!!!

Would love West Brom to stay firm and refuse to let him leave!

    Check

There was logic to using perch on benteke, he in theory should challenge him. In practice it didnt work out. Pardew now knows for next time perch can’t do that role so hopefully he won’t consider him for that again, that’s where the questions will be asked
