Newcastle To Sign Kevin Mbabu Today

9:46 am, Thursday, January 31st, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 26 Comments

It seems that Swiss teenager Kevin Mbabu will sign on for Newcastle today – and we covered that story yesterday – and even got the right photo up for the 17 year-old – eventually – and the news in the local papers is the Swiss U19 International will sign today – and Newcastle will beat Manchester United to his signature.

17 year-old Kevin Mbabu

It seems that at the beginning of January Newcastle invited the youngster to St. James’ Park, since Manchester United were also keen on the youngster, and the Newcastle Journal is reporting that Kevin will sign today – and become part of Newcastle’s Development squad immediately.

What Newcastle have to learn from the last five years is to better judge the class of youngsters they sign – since we haven’t had an awful lot of success in bringing these top young players through to the first team, although when the lads are signed – they are top players of their age group.

Here’s another photo of Kevin – just to make sure we’ve got the right one this time.

We hope Kevin can prosper on Tyneside, and he’s certainly a highly rated youngster who has played 20 times for the various Swiss Youth Sides.

Comments welcome.

Craig david has just ruled out grahams move to boro. If the lad has any sense he’ll avoid the mackems like the plague, sage advice any day of the week :)

Paul Scharner returns to Latics on loan from Hamburg #wafc #deadlineday

  • 11 Transfer Sage // Jan 31, 2013 at 10:01 AM

samba may be over priced but he is a great buy for QPR. He is a very good centre back.

even a crappy lower prem/top champs striker would do untill the summer 500k-2mil max if you like if not a freebie.

we have no choice but cisse and gouffran up top atm and i do really cry my eyes out at even the thought of shola being brought on even as a sub nvm starting if one of them are injured >.<

Aiden McGeady is up for 5m transfer back to these shores… now that would be a good punt… Jonas needs a wee nap possibly…

tads…I’d say Wigan have a great chance at getting European football next season now. Ashley really hasn’t got a clue what he’s doing. Dark days at the toon.

  • 19 Hatem's better than Messi // Jan 31, 2013 at 10:06 AM

It’s a real gamble not buying a striker.

We’re two bits of bad luck away from disaster.

Then we’ll be starting Shola as a lone striker with Ranger the only option on the bench.

1 goal in 5 games … down we go.

  • 20 MrMojoRisin76 // Jan 31, 2013 at 10:06 AM

Lol Qpr linked with Bentley, didn’t even know he still played, sad story about Michael Johnson from city quitting football last week but if he get’s his ass down to Loftus Road sharpish he might get a contract.

  • 21 toonarmydownsouth // Jan 31, 2013 at 10:07 AM

Yeah he is but cant do it on his own belsons gone ferdinands hone so its up to him and that other lad they just bought, wonder how easily they can sustain players on £100k a week in the championship? No doubt old arry will be nowhere in sight

  • 22 Transfer Sage // Jan 31, 2013 at 10:12 AM

No doubt these will all have relegation clauses to drop wages, otherwise they will just have to cut their losses on top earners and move them on…if they are willing to go.

Tony Fernandes isn’t that rich, so if they go down its up to the other part owner lakshmi mittal to bankroll the club and get them back up.

  • 23 Toon-Prodigy // Jan 31, 2013 at 10:12 AM

    Evil chuckles at Villa :)

Craig has went to Benton. He’s standing outside.

Pardew interview soon but nothing to do with signing anyone

  • 24 dubzy // Jan 31, 2013 at 10:13 AM

  • 25 Toon-Prodigy // Jan 31, 2013 at 10:17 AM

I’v got a feeling owld Arry will be so desperate later, he will be standing ootside skysports news studio trying to sign all the ex pro’s coming oot. Offering jamie and alan smith 100,000 a wk
