Can’t really think of anyone that had a poor match, apart from maybe Cisse who should’ve had a goal or two again. Sissoko was incredible, Cabaye classy as always, Santon possibly his best game in black and white with two top assists, Perchy was solid and put in some good tackles, Taylor put himself on the line as usual, Colo composed in defence.

I’m buzzing here lads, still can’t quite believe we won that :D

  • 6 Fostino // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:22 PM

what more, we have three players can improve the team futher….marv for jonas….tiote for perch & mbiwa for s.taylor. brilliant

VOTE FOR THE PLAYERS … LADS

  • 9 ~Anita One Bites the Dust~ // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:26 PM

    1. Sissoko, – 2 Goals + all round amazing performance.

    2. Santon – Two assist’s, troubled Ivanovic. One of his best performances

    3. Gouffran – Unsung hero. Brilliant work ethic, set up 1 goal with a blitzing run. Looks like a good buy.

    4. Saylor – Any man willing to put their crown jewels infront of a rocket, deserves to be praised on their courage alone. That and he had a solid performance, won most of the crosses that came in.

    5. Guti – Crosses into the box aside, he had one of his better performances today, got a goal.

Where the players who stood out the most for me today.

  • 10 5Danny94 // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:26 PM

We played so well, at 2-2 I was watching us pushing onwards thinking that I couldn’t tell who was in 3rd and who was in 15th. I just can’t get over how incredible Sissoko is. Not just his two goals, but also the way he charged past the best left-back in the world…

Krul was quality, Debuchy was quality, Taylor was quality, Coloccini was quality, Santon was quality, Perch was quality, Cabaye was quality, even Jonas was quality! Sissoko was outstanding, Gouffran was quality… Cisse needs work.

Having Sissoko was like having a midfielder and a centre-forward. Cisse may not even have come out for the second half. The only time I saw him was when he grabbed Cole by the throat.

  • 11 DarloGeordie // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:26 PM

Colo booting Ba in the face…..

    Colo lad!!!

Great result, sissoko is a beast, well done graham Carr again… Goofy needs a goal now. Well done all round really am absolutely buzzing

  • 15 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:30 PM

Right lads, have a good un, I’m off to bask before someone comes on and tries to find the negative in this result!

    Adios lads!

  • 16 santonthenewmaldini // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:30 PM

    What a game today!!!

Pardew got the team selection correct playing Jonas on the right wing is the only position that he should play when he is in the team as it means he is always on his strongest foot have been a strong critic of the player and manager but have to give praise when its due

Santon with 2 assists he was back to his best and finally starting to set goals up

1st game we have came back from in 27 months

Defensively we were great so glad we attacked Chelsea as I said last week we would win if we beat Villa as the atmosphere would pull us over the line and the way we kept the ball and moved it was great to watch the 1st 10 minutes Chelsea could not get the ball

  • 17 croftus5678 // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:30 PM

    @11

well a few weeks ago we questioned weather collo’s head was in it for newcastle…and i would definatly not trade him for anyone now.

swift kick in the face as ba would have prob scored against us ! good lad collo :-)

  • 18 MUTINYbyLEMONS // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:30 PM

Did anyone see S Taylor huge leap at full time to the fans? True Geordie. Love him

  • 19 Ketsbaia9 // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:30 PM

Sissoko’s what Man Utd need. We’ll hammer them the next time we play them. Benteke, Sulejmani and Gomis etc to come in the summer.

  • 29 brklyngeordie // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:35 PM

What a game what a game!! I said on these boards after Villa seems we got our YAYA TOURE=MOUSSA SISSOKO..And said i am a Jonas fan but admit was lacking form so was great to see him score..As for Pards i support him also and got it done now that we have made the moves thats 2 wins in 2 games BOOM! So for you Keyboard Manager out here on the boards now that u have got it wrong does that mean u should walk and leave the club and site?? For the true SUPPORTERS what a beautiful day HWTL!!

  • 30 Ben_BKK // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:35 PM

Pardew out! What was he thinking starting Jonas!? And Taylor ahead of our new signing, what a joke! Perch is Blue Square standard and should never be playing, especially with Anita on the bench!

    ;)

  • 31 Krul to be Kind // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:35 PM

    Mutiny

he never put his head in were it hurts for us?

thats what an extra 50k pw means

he means nothing to me now! ;-)

in fairness though it’s just football fan banter

  • 32 croftus5678 // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:35 PM

warren barton also gave the fans praise guys.

he said “when the fans get behind the toon players it gives them so much belief in themselves they think they can do anything”

so well done all (credit where credit is due) i also think the boo’s on cole and ba payed dividends as they really did make some mistakes when it was happening which is not really like them.

  • 33 Krul to be Kind // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:36 PM

lol Ben… oh the irony ;-)

  • 34 Gazza18 // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:37 PM

Sissoko came to England because he had nothing TOULOUSE !!! Newcastle was a perfect choice!! :)

  • 35 rainrix // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:37 PM

Ohhh adrenalines just about going down now :) . Better wait till eds got all his post match lark out before we start disecting that madness.

  • 36 Krul to be Kind // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:37 PM

cole wasn’t at the races at all, probably because he now has that contract!

  • 37 Rowan Milsted // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:37 PM

This is the happiest I’ve been with NUFC in a long time. The best we’ve played all season.

Hard to find fault with anyone, Guti’s crossing was woeful but his goal and overall work rate was brilliant. Cisse missed a couple of chances but kept going all game and his turn and pass for the goal was great. If a striker isn’t scoring you would hope he is contributing, and Cisse is.

Cabaye and Sissoko were awesome, Santon great going forward, Debuchy, Perch et al played just fine, Gouffran was very clever and gave us so many options going forward, Colo and Saylor solid at the back (despite the 2 goals, one of which was world class). Overall I’m delighted. HWTL

  • 38 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:37 PM

    Enjoy your night lads.

  • 39 Alan Pas-de-clue // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:37 PM

Ok. heres a list of some of the great things about today.

    we won.
    sissoko.
    came from behind.
performance was good, looked a team.
still have hba to come back.
Pards looks like he has a clue
    mackems lost.
    Ba broke his nose!
    remy tore his groin.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA lets get carried awayyyy

  • 40 archaeomag // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:38 PM

I’m going to miss the neggers . .

  • 41 toon1707 // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:38 PM

Sissoko’s run up the wing when the ball looked all day like it was going out was pure quality Ashley Cole looked shocked

  • 42 croftus5678 // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:39 PM

    @26 mutinybylemons

stop being an idiot ! he never meant to kick him your just being a drama queen. collo needed to make the tackle and yes i am glad he did it.

  • 43 Baro // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:39 PM

Wow! What a game! ???? A all around team effort! Besides sissoko two goals I thought cabaye was the man of he match. He was everywhere doing everything. Steven Taylor was immense at the back. Colo and debuchy were solid. Danton just keeps improving great 2 assists. Perch was solid. Gouffran was great. Constantly working, blazing speed… Cisse was ok could of ha a brace… But sissoko is some player! Every team needs someone like him.. He is a battering ram !

  • 44 Krul to be Kind // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:39 PM

alan – that list could potentially be endless

  • 45 toonfield // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:39 PM

  • 47 MUTINYbyLEMONS // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:41 PM

    croftus

I didn’t say he shouldn’t have made the tackle. I don’t ever care that much that Ba broke his nose. It’s just the fact it’s pleasing some fans that Ba broke his nose etc.

  • 48 5Danny94 // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:41 PM

    ————–Krul————-
    Debu–Taylor-Colo–Santon
    ——-Tiote—–Cabaye——
    Ben Arfa-Sissoko-Gouffran
    ————-Cisse————-

Potentially Gouffran as the lone striker with Marveaux on the wing. Or Sissoko as the lone striker with Cabaye in behind and Anita partnering Tiote. I chose Taylor over Coloccini because I feel like he has a bit more grit and determination than M’Biwa, who looks to me to be more of a Coloccini-esque player.

  • 49 bollance // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:42 PM

Sissoko kissed the badge after scoring! Toon legend after two games?

  • 50 kilcline // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:42 PM

Brilliant performance lads! Really makes my weekend when the lads play well and get something! Even a draw after a great performance is satisfying!

One class striker in the summer and keeping everyone of the main squad and we will be top 6 next season!

Enjoy ya night out lads! Lets get on it! HWTL

  • 51 Krul to be Kind // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:43 PM

Ben arfa to return is frightening

he’s so good they named him twice

  • 52 FloridaToon // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:43 PM

Outstanding game by everyone. Just want to point out that we are seeing a HEALTHY Cabaye. His diagnol passes to swith the run of play were fantastic all day long. Night and day difference in Gutti from last match(still needs better crosses), Goofy tracking back when needed. Well done to all the lads.

  • 53 northernirishtoon // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:43 PM

    Hba for guti

    Tiote for perch

    What a team!

  • 54 MUTINYbyLEMONS // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:43 PM

Sissoko is pretty much a toon legend already. I am surprised by where he is playing however. I thought he was more of a defensive midfielder and Cabaye would play where he is playing. But hey what do i know

  • 55 bollance // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:44 PM

When was the last time we won going a goal behind?

  • 56 Edd Case // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:44 PM

What a game, honestly didn’t think we had a chance of a point, let alone 3 when Chelsea scored their two goals.
Massive credit to the club for bringing in Sissoko etc.

Massive, massive win for us as we head to Spurs.

All this and to think we have HBA, Marveux, Tiote, Anita and Mbiwa not in the team.

  • 57 yo-yo // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:44 PM

I think today was a real travesty. Pardew got the formation wrong, tactics totally wrong and has clearly lost the dressing room.

Good job the lads ignored him completely and just got on with it..

  • 58 Johann // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:45 PM

After the match, Redknapp also revealed that their recent signing Loic Remy had torn a muscle in training yesterday.

  • 59 Krul to be Kind // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:45 PM

kilclien – (love the name by the way – real throwback)absolutely i said that earlier, this team with 6 months behind them and a new striker will be immense

  • 60 bollance // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:45 PM

And apparently capoue is better than sissoko??

  • 61 croftus5678 // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:45 PM

    @47

never said i was happy ba got a broken nose lol just that collo was a good lad for making that challenge he needed to make as if he had not we would surely have been a goal worse off.

  • 62 FloridaToon // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:46 PM

Now only 3pts from 10th and 6pts from relegation…not bad for a days work.

  • 63 toonking // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:46 PM

this game is revealing it clear once and for all why their was so much poor play during the winter
1.we lacked creativity during then as all we really had was cabaye. HBA although he was aggressive, he was at time too ball greedy and had very little help. so basically that left us with a midfield totally design defensive.
2.the defense itself is just not the same without saylor colo might have the skills but what he doesn’t have is the power and courage of saylor and that is the most important part about a defender.
3.with our bench consisting of youngsters there was no competition so players just knew they were sure to start and so did less effort and just tried to stay fit.

  • 64 davis_toons // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:46 PM

“Cisse missed a couple of chances but kept going all game and his turn and pass for the goal was great. If a striker isn’t scoring you would hope he is contributing, and Cisse is.”

HOpes Cisse start scoring soon….maybe we should get in Christian Benteke for some competition (<7m)

i watched toulouse last night get hammered by PSG at home, they were a decent outfit but without sissoko they were poor, he has so much influence at 22, we got it today!

  • 71 Alan Pas-de-clue // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:48 PM

. First come from behind loss in 27 months

. Sissoko shows how much of a beast he is

. Ba gets a kicking for leaving NUFC

. Judas Remy tears his groin for QPR

Carlsberg don’t do match days but if they did :)

  • 73 Ketsbaia9 // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:49 PM

We probably have the best midfield in the league. Cisse played well today. Looked sharp and was unlucky with his shots. We wouldn’t have signed Sissoko last summer anyway as he would’ve been priced at around the £10m mark.

I honestly think with a few more quality additions in the necessary positions that we can challenge for the title or at least finish in the top 4. We are at least on par with Spurs and should be able to get a result next week.

  • 74 FloridaToon // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:49 PM

Right, apparently Pardew’s half-time speech of sit back and play hoof ball didn’t get through. Sissoko on the bench next game for not listening.

can’t wait for check the toastie to come on see what he has to say bout pards this week

  • 80 davis_toons // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:52 PM

Would only says that BA was BRAVE to go for the BALL.

He knew Colo will challenge for it and technically clear it.

BA was Brave to put his head in to impress, just come off worst and got a chance to excuse himself. He almost score as well. Just inches wide..

RefalBenite purposely put BA ahead of Torres.

  • 81 Munster Mag // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:52 PM

What a win!! Didnt know that Remy got injured. Had to listen to the Sky panel say what a great buy QPR got with their ex blackburn centre half. Brilliant stuff. Well done Pards and Co – for once I can watch MOTD!!

Credit to pards for getting the team right and more importantly deciding sissoko should be the furthest of the three not cabaye.

Two assists for santon good to see him getting forward again as well.

  • 93 NUFC_LEAZES END // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:56 PM

how fantastic is it having a solid defence? especially debuchy taylor and collo.
cnt believe how much of an animal sissoko is.
Jonas worked his socks off today although there was a couple of awful crossings by him, but i’ll forget about tht since he scored :)
gouffran immense burst of pace and has a football brain unlike obertan who just has pace :L
cisse played well, doing what he does best which is beating the offside trap haa.
santon was fantastic when going forward. and solid defensivly.
krul was helpless for the 2 goals as they were fantastic :O.
marveaux looked great when he came on.
cabaye, fantastic one aain, his vision and ability to pick out a pass is unreal.
    perchinio was solid,
we didn’t see much of mbiwa.

it says something about our team when yanga m’biwa cant get into the starting 11 :P considering to a cople of weeks ago when we had to make do with Williamson in defence.

howay lads upwards and onwards !!!

  • 94 Rowan Milsted // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:56 PM

    @64

I hope we get another striker too. I think we will in the summer, hopefully we’ve already done the ground work with Pea or RVW, or possibly even Bony. More competition would be good for Cisse and would give us an option if he’s having a shocker. I was really impressed with his link up play today though and I feel a few goals are coming his way. Gouffran will help him. I doubt he’ll be a prolific goalscorer but he will make goals for other players. Another impressive display from him today, he looks a clever player.

It’s interesting that Colo had absolutely no interest in Ba’s well-being. He didn’t even go over and see how he was!

I assume Ba really peed a lot of the lads off with his exit, but Colo’s not exactly one to talk haha.

    @85

    Just sarcasm.

Sissoko – 6 million infantasy league.. Get him before he’s too dear lads. When Benny comes back in along with Sissoko and Gouffran behind Cisse. That front 4 will be immense. Cabs pulling the strings in behind it all, wih either tiote cleanin up or anita just tidying up. Mbiwa still to adapt, debuchy and santon bombing down the wings. We are dangerous. I just hope Pardew doesnt lose bottle for some games and set the lads up defensively and hoofing it. Cos we are a threat to anybody like that. We keep this squad in together in the summer, (bar- Simmo, Raylor, Willo, Gosling, Oberton and possibly Jonas)
Add – Sulejamani, Douglas, Bong (all free) PEA – £9M

Top 4 next season extremely possible, providing the group stays together, a few additions and Pardew trusts his players that they can play football and sends them out to do so, not to contain and hoof. That game today was how we should play every week, and I think we will :)

Good on Jonas. Proved a lot of us wrong. Not the spectacular performance of other players but he cut out a lot of errors and without his goal we draw the game.

  • 99 Big Pappa Cissé // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:57 PM

We still have HBA and Tiote to come back as well :)

  • 100 Robby Bobson // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:58 PM

Imagine that team with HBA instead of jonas and tiote instead of perch….for the first time ive looked up, 3 points from 10th!

  • 101 FloridaToon // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:59 PM

Hate to say it but looks like the same line-up vs. Tott.

Don’t think you can change a winning side, even though I thought Marv should have started instead of Gutti.

  • 102 Pardews Parsnip Bonce // Feb 2, 2013 at 6:00 PM

@97 we should be on a profit plus 20m in the summer. buy sonera class with that

  • 103 Krul to be Kind // Feb 2, 2013 at 6:00 PM

@92 – jonas needs to play against spuds, he would be a real asset helping against bale, he will need doubled up on

perchy must be close to suspension again he’s picked a few cards up recently

    Bollance

Yes mate, with the fear of getting ridiculed for repeatedly saying I told you so, I will do it again

Said this morning mate that a lot of lads needed to stop all the doom and gloom. We have a bloody good team, what with players coming back and the new additions. Hopefully our miserable injury run is over now. I said we will be safe, we will win today and we still have the EL to go for, and I believe we will go for it.

    Enjoy your beer tonight everyone

what about mbiwa coming into midfield to see games out in the last 2, i remember hearing SBR once say that when he brings centre halves through he puts them into the middle of the pitch to help learn the game, maybe pards is easing MYM in he may be the one that needs to adjust, i alwas feel that centre halves need eased in as the relationship with your partner and keeper is the most important on the pitch, he was just unlucky Saylor came back last game but it also gives us an option

    thoughts?

    Krul

I think to have a centre half to be used in midfield to close a game out, he would have to be one hell of a technically gifted player and very mobile, so on that front I think it’s a fantastic sign for us that he has been used there.

Totally agree that it’s to dangerous throwing him straight in at the back, and besides Saylor & Collo do complement each other so well.

Who knows Pardew may well have seen something in training to suggest he is not ready to start just yet. Bit like Santon last season
