I think the blame for this lies with Alan Pardew and his team selection / tactics
    Sissoko did OK

  • 3 Wandering Geordie // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:15 PM

Moussa by far and the rest of the lads were awesome..Im so proud of them

  • 4 connor_nufc // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:16 PM

Has to be Sissoko , great performance .

    Gouffran also did very well

  • 5 spartacus // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:16 PM

    Great game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
great play by Sissoko. Jonas did well too.

  • 6 toon1707 // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:16 PM

Sissoko will get man of the match but the whole team were outstanding today and for those that knock Jonas that header was just for yous

  • 7 Toonboy_84 // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:16 PM

Two wins in a row. First time this season? The lads done good today.

  • 8 ilovetoon8788 // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:16 PM

Santon. Absolutely world class going forward. A greater attacking threat than Debuchy. World class performance. If he can shore up his defensive aspect of the game, he’s going to be 1 of the best full backs in the world. What a gem we got here.

Sissoko. 2 lung bursting runs 1 that resulted in the goal via Gouffran. He’s on a 1 man mission to spark our revival. If any player need a kick up the rear, just make them watch the run from Sisokko. That’s truly a powerful run. He has an engine that never stops. We look a completely different outfit already with him in the team.

And boy what a strike that was for the winner. Man of the moment. Moussa Sisokko. Probably the best central midfielder in the league at the moment.

  • 9 TheToonKing // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:17 PM

well this is easy to answer…

  • 10 jonny-intense // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:17 PM

If I think too much about the performance, the result, the team spirit, the price we’ve paid for these new players, getting one over on the oil baron and the outlook for the rest of the season, I think I’ll explode!

  • 11 Alan Pas-de-clue // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:17 PM

ive slated santon a lot recently but i watched him closely today and he was excellent, the whole team was.

a good sign that we can win even with cisse out of form, his pass to gouffran for our second should be noted though, and at least he is getting in the right positions.

It seems we now have something thats been missing for a long time, strength in depth.

to think mbiwa one of if not the best cb in france, and marv and anita our two best players of recent games were on the bench, the futures bright.

bit of persepctive tho kets, we are a long way of title contenders LOL

  • 12 kevymartins // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:17 PM

You guys are forgetting about yohan. That guy can spray some passes that are just outa this world

  • 13 yankazaz // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:17 PM

guys, a.caroll just score a winner goal today…

  • 14 ilovetoon8788 // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:17 PM

Motm. Sissokko. Man of the moment in the premier league even. On par with Yaya Toure.

  • 15 toonincheek // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:18 PM

    GREAT performance and GREAT win.

  • 16 Spellcheck // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:18 PM

  • 17 Eddie // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:18 PM

Love it. Just love it. Mo Sissoko just put the mo back into our mojo. And a warm hand for Saylor’s nuts.

  • 18 croftus5678 // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:18 PM

everyone will go sissoko but in honesty i <3 gouffran just as much his work rate/speed/determination/passing/shooting just everything was amazing from him.

  • 19 LGFUAD21 // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:18 PM

    Well lads,

Great win for us. Best performance of the season.

Looked hairy but the difference was we saw a reaction.

Not a player I can complain against.

    2 negatives though

Cisse needs to be coached on positioning and build some strength. His technique is brilliant but he is way to easy to defend against because he never gets the right side of his man. Never challenges for balls properly.

Tim Krul should try playing out of the back more. Hoofed balls invite more attacks when Shola is not there to win them.

    Our passing today was class.

Sissoko was knackered but he fought til the end.

The unity of the team was brilliant and showed after we took the lead again.

Gouffran is brilliant, very supportive, plays a noce pass.

    For those stat men:

Cabaye, Debuchy were our 2 most influential players followed by Moussa.

Santon played a hand in both goals.

Cabaye had insane passing stats about 85% i think.

Colo, Santon, Taylor and Perch had insane interception stats.

Cant really fault too much for 2 very good chelsea goals.

  • 20 toonfield // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:18 PM

    Somebody voted for cisse?

  • 21 rainrix // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:19 PM

Everyone really fantastic performance, in fact the best in a very long time. First time in 27 months we’ve come from behin and one. A turning point hopefully sissoko motm out of all them HWTL

  • 22 JAMSHA // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:19 PM

  • 23 No Plain Saylor // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:20 PM

Anyone who didn’t vote for Sissoko didn’t watch the match

  • 24 lotoplus // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:20 PM

Ed, you made a mistake : Moussa Sissoko comes from Toulouse and not Touolouse.
    And another mistake : the transfer fee is £20M not £2M…Excuse me ? You’re saying I’m wrong, it is just £2M ?? What a f**king bargain !!!

  • 25 davis_toons // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:20 PM

Maybe we should buy Bentike…he can help us win set pieces. He can score goal as well.

  • 26 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:20 PM

What are you trying to do? This is not the time for you to start Shola bashing! Just enjoy one of our most iconic victories in recent times like an actual fan!

  • 27 Ketsbaia9 // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:21 PM

Santon set up two goals and played really well too. Marveaux changed the game when he came on.

  • 28 yankazaz // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:21 PM

I just think S.Taylor made the different. Our defender seem so much more solid than when we got our Williamson. A team that win the game is a team got a better defender, isn’t this?

  • 29 Spreadthetoon // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:24 PM

Gouffran played brilliantly created and opened up spaces, Cisse on a better day could have had a brace, Cabaye was the powerhouse of midfield, Marv was excellent when he came on, Perch was solid, our defense was strong and Sissoko….what can I say I’m speechless!

  • 30 askar // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:24 PM

Can you imagine Ben Arfa at the L side and Gouffran at R and Siisoko – Cabaye – Tiote in the M….hahahahahahahaaaaa.

  • 31 Krul to be Kind // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:24 PM

as goog as sissoko was today it was a great team effort

today was a team performance, if only there was a team option

defo the sum is greater than it’s parts!

  • 32 Tsunki // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:24 PM

Pardew out! Chelsea were not full strength. Some other tosh was a mitigating factor too. Burn your season tickets. Boycott the games! Hang on – we won this time? Ha I always knew Pardew was a genius…..:)

And so it came to pass that Tsunki had his first spot on prediction of 3-2. And Jonas scores.

All hail the Tsunki! It was all my doing ha ha

  • 33 Black and White with an army lol // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:24 PM

what a belta, what a result, WHAT A TEAM.

  • 34 macdonaldtudor // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:25 PM

Sissoko is superb what a bargain it just shows you don’t need to spend £20M on a player. Well done AP and all involved in getting Sissoko to the club

  • 35 Spreadthetoon // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:25 PM

Well played for Jonas as well for the goal. That gave us the belief to go on. HWTL!!

  • 36 Krul to be Kind // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:25 PM

over 2 games we have now showed the new strength of our squad!

  • 37 ~Anita One Bites the Dust~ // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:25 PM

    1. Sissoko, – 2 Goals + all round amazing performance.

    2. Santon – Two assist’s, troubled Ivanovic. One of his best performances

    3. Gouffran – Unsung hero. Brilliant work ethic, set up 1 goal with a blitzing run. Looks like a good buy.

    4. Saylor – Any man willing to put their crown jewels infront of a rocket, deserves to be praised on their courage alone. That and he had a solid performance, won most of the crosses that came in.

    5. Guti – Crosses into the box aside, he had one of his better performances today, got a goal.

Where the players who stood out the most for me today.

  • 38 toonfield // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:26 PM

Croftus – agree – gouf was outstanding today, santon strong in attack, jonas solid game. Couldnt be happier with that game. Please everybody dont look for negatives in that performance. Just bask in the glory

  • 39 Krul to be Kind // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:26 PM

you must be an astrologer for it was written in the stars!

  • 40 toon1707 // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:27 PM

That was without ben Arfa Marvaux Anita mbiwa against the current European champions some body pinch me please

  • 41 Oui Club United // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:29 PM

I know this is off topic…but I can’t be the only one laughing at QPR now that Remy is injured

And Sissoko MOTM! He reminds me of yaya toure, strong, quick, defends well and gets the goals. for £2m, I’m having a laugh.

Up the toons! Now i feel we have a fair chance in the europa league

  • 42 davis_toons // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:31 PM

Sissoko just boost up our gives everyone a lift. Give everyone much confidence, really glad that we have him for now.

Arsenal should be coming in for him soon..Wenger will be watching.

20 million he is gone….but maybe not.

Lets enjoy while he stays…Ohh..Ben Arfa is returning soon….good football should be here soon..

While enjoying dont forget abt Williamson and Simpson.

  • 43 BRABOT // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:31 PM

    Alan pas de clue

    2,Nicholas Nkoulou de L OMarseille
3 , Mapou yanga mbiwa OK
Le plus rapide is Yanga mbiwa

  • 44 AshSays // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:33 PM

Looks like Pardew, the 2011/12 manager of the season actually knows what he’s doing…we are back baby!! also, looks like remy pulled his groin!

  • 45 Vest // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:33 PM

And we have to remember, that Tioté and Ben Arfa are still to come into the team, to get a better starting 11.

    We’ll be awesome 🙂

  • 46 PontiusLee // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:38 PM

sissoko was huge for us, but i gave my pick to santon.
he created the opening and winning goal for us.
played very well defensively, held up the ball supremely, and he can definitely put in a cross when he cuts back with his right foot.
love that he tries to go inside too.

not to take anything away from sissoko, but santon is my motm.

great show of skill from gouffran, cabaye, debuchy, saylor, and jonas too. played well today, and safe to say that i am pleased with the result.

still need to shore up in defensive tactics though, chelsea’s 2 goals were off rebounds and had some black magic involved!

  • 47 cockneymagpie90 // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:40 PM

Althought it was rightfully Sissoko on his debut, lets not forget Santon.

He set up two goals and didnt hardly put a foot wrong, what a player he is and can understand why milan want him back to his home country.

Weldone to all the lads as it was a brilliant performance and one that we can build on.

    Exciting times ahead 🙂

  • 48 ProudNUFCfan // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:41 PM

Honestly i can’t say sissoko did better than anyone else. He will get the best player status today, as for the two goals he scored. However the entire put in a real effort when they are attack minded.Everything goes to smitheries once they decide to defend. Not theire kind of game! Happened every time we have tried to defend instead of pushing forward to puncture the game completly. But my oppinion. I think Gutierrez played maybe his best game in the black and white shirt since his joining. Hell that guy does nonstop running back and forth on the field. However his dribbling and ball control arent the best. Gouffran looking to be a great buy. Despite he being a forward and not scoring as of yet. He sure helps his teammate score! Sissoko was shockingly amazing once again. His speed are just imense. Also he knows to be at the right place to the right time.

However we was abit lucky having the judges on our sides. We could easily have to red cards today with colo effectively putting ba on the bench! Way to show that traitor what he is in for switching clubs like this!(Just imagine what ba would be infront of these middle fielders with our running backs, we could challenge for the title! But no had to go running off for the money.

But great work to every player out there today! Now we really got it worked up for Tottenham next week. They in
    for some french trouble aswell!

But we should be focusing on possession and attacking instead of trying to get a early lead and hold out!

  • 49 unclepauly // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:42 PM

@ lotoplus – ed makes mistakes every week when he uses words like ‘color’, ‘favor’ and the like…honestly does my head in !

  • 50 EastEndMagpie // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:43 PM

@davis_toons…… wtf man?? why the hell would he go arsenal now?? hes on a 6 year deal, i can see cashley sticking with this team and not selling them. not sissoko anyway… why cant we be going for there place next year??? no reason why not…

  • 51 menzeuk // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:43 PM

Have to give my vote to colo for that karate kick on demba ba, would have made me happy even if we had lost the game 😀

  • 52 peterjoicey // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:44 PM

    He is some player Sissoko

  • 53 coatesy17 // Feb 2, 2013 at 5:52 PM

man the whole team were awesome today, im so proud! cisse should of had at least 2 today, santon was superb, and sissoko what a bargain, gouffran is fast becomeing a favourite of mine, but personally have to say cabaye i love you, you are amazing. staylor gives us that extra but of passion, over the moon HWTL!

  • 54 boreddrummer // Feb 2, 2013 at 6:00 PM

Well no prizes for guessing the outcome of this poll, although I’d just like to drop a quick mention for Santon (my MoTM for last week too), thought he was fantastic again today.

  • 55 thepict // Feb 2, 2013 at 6:08 PM

Excellent team performance today. All five goals well taken are all the haters going to get off the manager’s back and also Jonas’s back. Onwards and upwards. HWTL.

  • 56 lotoplus // Feb 2, 2013 at 6:15 PM

@unclepauly : I’m also frustrated, I’m a member of the famous French Language Protection Committee… lol.
As a french guy, I hope you’ll forgive me in easier way than Ed my future misspellings !

Back to topic, very solid performance of the lads.
About Santon, he should sometimes give the ball quicker, but I guess I’m nitpicking.

Sometimes, Cissé should rush to the first post.

  • 57 woolerbill // Feb 2, 2013 at 6:16 PM

Two swallows don’t make a summer or survival. We done lads only 13 more cup ties to go, top half hear we come, move over sunderland.

  • 58 Abbott // Feb 2, 2013 at 6:19 PM

I much rather have a heart-player like guite rather than a selfish player like Demba… say what you want… I really felt with Guite when he scored that emotional goal.

Gouffran was great… and Cabaye is my man of the match… so many things in the background that it vital… simply world class!

  • 59 moonraker // Feb 2, 2013 at 6:22 PM

at last we have a team to be proud of again and one that Newcastle deserves.

Who knows we could go on to win the europa league !!

  • 60 Sav // Feb 3, 2013 at 1:03 AM

I’m particularly happy to see Sissoko sent back completely knackered but with a dreamy look on his face, humming The Blaydon Races to Deschamps the Water Carrier.

  • 61 karasu // Feb 3, 2013 at 4:19 AM

I’d like to give Colo a special shout-out for kicking that c*** Demba Ba off the field.

  • 62 KrulG4ME // Feb 3, 2013 at 8:53 AM

The whole team were brilliant. Sissoko for man of the match because he scored 2 goals, but the whole team done us proud great work ethic and never gave up. Best performance of the season.

    Leazes end repeatedly singing

    He’s magic you knooooow
    You’ll never get passed sissokooooo

  • 63 Bambams // Feb 3, 2013 at 9:10 AM
