Mamadou Sakho is a 22 year old defender who already has 11 caps for the full French side, and he is currently at PSG, but his time at the Paris club may not last too long, with Newcastle United being linked with a possible move for the youngster in the summer.
Mamadou Sakho – capped 11 times at the full French level
We’ve been linked with this player previously, and the 6’2″ defender is not getting enough playing time at PSG, and he’s gotten itchy feet recently, and with Fabricio Coloccini wanting to move in the summer back to Argentina, Newcastle could bring in this youngster as a replacement for the Newcastle captain.
Sources in France are reporting that Newcastle scouts have been at PSG games, and maybe Chief Scout Graham Carr has picked this youngster out as the replacement for Coloccini – if a club from Argentina can come in and pay his £7M transfer fee in the summer – which is by no means certain.
Sakho’s contract still has eighteen months to run, but Newcastle may be able to strike a good deal with PSG to take the lad in the summer for a small fee, rather than lose him for nothing in the summer of next year, and we have to think that French players would only be too happy to join the French revolution at Newcastle, where he can settle into the squad very quickly.
This lad would be a very good signing for Newcastle, and he has played for all the French youth sides, including 17 times for the French U21 side.
His record at PSG is very like Moussa Sissoko’s record at Toulouse – and Mamadou made his debut for the Paris club when he was just 17 year old, in the club’s 3–0 win over Lorient in the Coupe de la Ligue in September of 2007, and they are the only club he’s ever played for, and the youngster has already racked up 180 appearances for the Paris side with 5 goals.
What do you think?

Comment #1Anyone interested in listening to joe Kinnear being interviewed on talksport. He’s on now.
His first quote was that he believes he sorted a lot of problems out and believes he would still be there now if he hasn’t become Ill. 😀

As unpopular as he was I don’t think we would have been relegated under him, whether he would still be here is an entirely different story as Ashley seems to have had a major ststegy plan since our relegation and quick rise back.

I never had nothing against him. I just think he was too limited and old fashioned, set in his ways and not the man to advance us.
I think Pardew, whilst not a great manager, has the potential and willingness to learn and improve. I just don’t think he had all the resources he needed until now. He needs continental styled coach to work alongside him and help oversee all levels of football played at the club.

Comment #11i still have my hopes set on collo staying tbh so dont even wanna think about another cb coming in just yet untill nearer the end of the season.
and from last post i too called guti quite a lot and it was right what was said as no one questioned his work rate or defensive play but he contributed nothing to offence.
the goal and the decent cross he put in against chelsea may have given him the belief that he can contribute to the attack hopefully though so fingers crossed i hope he does but one good offensive game vs many poor i think is unfair and i’ll be cheering him on to try keep up that work.

But wouldn’t complain with either of the 3

Alderwerield for me every time.
Then replace willo with mirin as a youngster who is up and coming, gives us 4 good CBs which we need as saylor will no doubt end up crocked.

not a chance with cisse and carroll for me. Cisse suits the style of our midfield and defence better than carroll does, he hasn’t got the quality to link up play like cisse plus he spends over 50% of his time on the treatment table

Carroll is not the type of player we need with the squad we are assembling he has his time and wanted the move away,
and besides we have a far better player already in Cisse, the guy will come good again we just need to rebuild is confidence and start playing to his strengths again like we did when he first came to the club

I don’t mind too much either way to be honest, as long as colo is replaced with a good player with experience thats enough for me. so any of those would do except douglas.

Comment #25with curtis good apparently coming through it will only take this season and maybe next max before we know if he’s good enough and then he will need games with us and the same with reme streete (maybe a season longer) so i would not want or need a cb untill we know if collo is deffinatly going or not and then just one to replace him (still let willo go).
only problem i see is striking position as cambell will take time to come through for prem standards (ranger could have made the grade and become a great player if he was not such a @&^%£$ ) so we need young strikers for the dev squad.

Exactly. Cisse improved his link up play in recent weeks. Also he has got on the end of some great through balls and is getting in the right place. His finishing will come back, he has been consistent at all levels for the past 6 years.
Look at how many ‘simple’ chances all strikers miss and cisse isn’t out of the ordinary.

Comment #28Alderwield would be a far more attractive option for us as come the summer he’ll only have a year left on his contract whereas Sakho would cost far more, but we do love the French 😀

I think campbell would do ok now, has the same qualities owen had at that age, just not quite as good. More than capable of doing a job ahead of ranger thats for damn sure.

Agreed mate, he’s scored 20 goals in 43 games, not bad for someone who’s been playing for a side that so far this season have been very, very poor with little to no creativity, plus he’s spent a few games out wide on the right.
He’s a player that need quick ball played to his feet or into space, look at the amount of time that he’s been caught offside as he’s always anticipating the quick pass that doesn’t come.
With a fit and healthy Cabaye, HBA, Sissohko and Gouffran feeding him the goals will come soon enough

Gomis will be 28 come the start of next season, can’t see Pardew winning another battle to get a more mature player in as getting Debuchy was hard enough

I’d take this lad, no bother. Just give me the full french squad!
Previous article in regards to Jonas. Confidence and morale lads, confidence and morale. Expect Tiotes performances to go through the roof when he gets back into the 1st team aswell.
We were a top 6 club with the quality we had in our first 11 last year, Just lucky with injuries. A squad that was decimated through injury and what was low in morale and confidence with the gamble last summer is what has resulted in finding ourselves where we our in the league this season. Nothing else.
Its not just the good players that have been brought in why we’re on the up. Our 1st teams confidence and morale have lifted because they all knew we couldn’t cope this season without adding the quality in depth.
We will jump up the table no doubts and also carry on charging for the top 4 next season. Back to business.
Onwards and upwards.
