Newcastle Target Says He Wants To Make A Move

9:21 am, Thursday, February 7th, 2013 by Ed Harrison · 14 Comments

We had an article out yesterday saying that Newcastle were interested in PSG center-back Mamadou Sahkho and the PSG player played the whole game for France last night in their 2-1 loss to Germany at the Stade de France, and he looked a very good player.

Of course there will be other big clubs also interested in the player like Liverpool and Arsenal, but the news today is that it seems PSG will be willing to sell their 6’2″ 22 year-old defender in the summer, since he wants to play more first team football so he can make the France World Cup squad for the games in Brazil a year this summer.

And the player himself has said this to calciomercato.com:

“I have to look around. If I can not play at PSG, I will do it somewhere else.” “I do not want to miss the train for the World Cup 2014.”

By our reckoning last night was Mamadou’s 12th full cap for France and he looked a very good player, and could be an ideal replacement for Fabricio Coloccini, if the Newcastle leaves the club in the summer to return home to Argentina for personal reasons.

Liverpool and Arsenal are also in the hint for the player, but Newcastle have a lot to offer new players, and especially French players, with their already large French contingent on Tyneside.

And since Mamadou will have only one year left on his contract, the fee should be too large for Sahko, who will only get better in the Premier League.

The youngster has already racked up 180 appearances for the Paris club with 5 goals.

Get him signed up to play alongside Mbiwa – what a CB pairing the would make for us.

With Tiote on his game, just in front of them – it will be like having a wall in front of goal. A mouth watering prospect!!

    Would be a good signing

Sakho is no better than Taylor at the moment! The lads got massive potential but has gone backwards in the last 2 seasons, hes also fallen out favour at PSG because he makes zero effort in training and is a stone heavier and 5 yards slower than when he was performing! Get him to fulfil his potential and it’d be a fantastic signing but at the moment he’d just be going from one bench to another! Kurt Zouma at St Ettiene offers much more in my opinion! Also, never watched Valciennes but mirin seems much more likely based on price, wages etc and hes getting rave reviews!

would love to see this lad playing in black and white HWTL!

Morning Ibiza. How was the England game? I saw Lampards goal – pretty tasty!

The France / Germany game was very good.

All France first half and all Germany second,

Cabaye was nothing shirt of majestic. His array of passing was unreal. He sat fairly deep and pretty much ran the show. Was unlucky on 2 occasions – one where Benzema got in his way when he was in a better striking position, and the last kick of the game which mertezacker pulled off a great block.

Sissoko had his chances limited but it just a power house! He loves to run with the ball and one several occasions dissected the German backline with his runs. Came off after 80mins and put in a solid shift. Debuchy and Yanga didn’t play.

Star for France imo was Valbuena. A little bloke but with incredible technique, work rate and passion. France main weakness is their backline. Sagna and evra just aren’t good enough imo. Debuchy will win his place back and somebody like Cissokho should be pushing for the starting LB berth.

But second half Germany were something else. Ozil was incredible. Hummels at the back was like a wall.

Jayphoto – Yes, Mirin has been getting some great reviews and I believe we were linked with him earlier in January.

An excellent prospect with huge potential.

On Sakho – watching him last night was painful at times. This lad has the potential to be one of the best centre half’s in the world – but he looked a shadow of his former self. He needs to find his love for the game again and that has to be away from PSG,

My shout is still Alderwield and Mirin…

…but should we get priced out of those two, then Sakho would be a decent signing. But would need to work on fitness.

two extra signings should be enough for the summer.
one, prezella the argentine who i believe will grow under mapou and staylor. sakho will probably go to arsenal if they qualify for europa/CL.
and the other, a proven striker.

By the way, who was the last player we bought who had an active contract going on…from an EPL side?

Assam @8, good question, it might have been Kevin Nolan

  • 11 Spoof // Feb 7, 2013 at 12:19 PM

or was it Danny Simpson, or Guthrie, I’m not sure

Would be a great signing! But what about Douglas? Is he still at Twente on a free? That would be a good bargain.

  • 13 NEWEXPATMAGPIE // Feb 9, 2013 at 9:35 AM

    @12:

Douglas just is,nt the player that he was!

He spent a year and a half bitching about Dutch Nationality, playing really well and interesting a host of other clubs, then he got injured and did,nt play at all. He finally got his Dutch citizenship in November and got back into Twente,s starting eleven and has played Shite ever since !

I don,t think he would be worth signing any more? We should go for Alderweirld and Siem de Jong instead !

We should also go back to Sporting Lissabon and try and make a deal to bring Ricky van Wolfswinkel to St James in the summer? A pre-transfer window deal with player and club would be a good way to go and would stop any Bullshit in the summer?

As for Sakho, i,d love us to get him but i don,t think it will ever happen?
