Good Initial News On Yoan Gouffran Injury

6:21 pm, Saturday, February 9th, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 250 Comments

The Newcastle United web-site have just reported that the X-Ray on Yoan Gouffran’s shin has shown there is no fracture – and in short – that’s great news.

Soccer - Barclays Premier League - Tottenham Hotspur v Newcastle United - White Hart Lane

Yoan Gouffran – was carried off on a stretcher

This is the statement put up on the Newcastle web-site:

Newcastle United are pleased to report that a precautionary X-ray has shown that Yoan Gouffran has not broken his right leg. The French forward was stretchered off during the second half of Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur, and Gouffran will be further assessed on Sunday by the Club’s medical staff

Of course that doesn’t’ say that Yoan is completely in the clear, but at least it’s not a fracture which would have kept him out of the side for a number of weeks, and it seems it’s a gash and some bruising on the shin.

We have to hope that Yoan is fit enough for our next league game, which is at home to Southampton two weeks tomorrow.

This is what Alan Pardew had said earlier about the injury:

“He’s had an impact on his shin which was a nasty gash, he’d have probably come off with a gash anyway but it’s whether there’s any bone damage.”

“He’s gone for an X-ray and we cross our fingers that comes back okay. I haven’t seen it back. I think when you see a big gash it disturbs you as a player.”

“The doctor was 50-50 from his experience of looking at it.”

So it looks like it’s good news and there is no break.

Comments welcome.

  • 2 Super Magpie // Feb 9, 2013 at 6:23 PM

Team for Southampton providing HBA and Gouffran are available-

    Debuchy Saylor/Colo/M’Biwa Santon
    Anita Cabaye
    HBA Sissoko Gouffran

Bench- Elliot Perch Saylor/ Colo/ MYB Tiote Jonas Marveaux Shola

  • 3 nick_9 // Feb 9, 2013 at 6:23 PM

We looked lost without the lad on the pitch. Sissoko and him are two players who are prepared to work no end. Hope he is back for the next PL game along with Benny

Good news on goofy and now he can have a rest.

  • 5 Beattie25 // Feb 9, 2013 at 6:25 PM

What has this blog come to?

It so boring and full of retards.

    Yo yo

Marveaux for Gouffran was not a negative substitute but the tactics employed for most of the second half were. FACT!!!

It happens all the time. Pardew settles for what he’s got at about 60 minutes. That has not changed in the 2 years he’s been here.

You sir are so blinded in your loyalty to him that you cannot have anyone question his tactics, his management or his decisions.

Why don’t you take off your rose tinted glasses, remove your nose from his arse and have an intelligent conversation based on reality.

In fact don’t waste your energy or your single brain cell on responding to this as I am not going to read it.

This blog used to be good for all NUFC related chat, opinion and debate. Now it’s full of people trying to be funny and/or people talking utter crap.

Surely it’s not just me that feels that way?

  • 6 pedro // Feb 9, 2013 at 6:26 PM

Don’t think Colo’s head is not there, just think that the pace of Bale was always likely to be the factor if he got the chance to run at him. When the ball broke he was quicker than Colo to the ball and then it was over, its a bit of a stretch in my opinion to say that his head wasnt right.
Overall, I thought we were decent. Gouffran’s injury was a blow (pleased to hear thats not as bad as first thought), we didnt create as much as we should. There are a lot of poor balls put into the box or when Cisse is the only person there and except Coloccini’s cross in the first half they came to nothing. Krul had a poor game today other than some good stops near the end. He looked a little nervy throughout and his kicking was terrible.
Spurs away was always going to be difficult so we move on. Still plenty of points to play for and im absolute certain we will win a lot, especially once HBA is back in the team.
Argentine season started this weekend, so if you want a break. Check out my blog. Great goal in the Velez game last night, so take a look

  • 7 Ben3arfa // Feb 9, 2013 at 6:27 PM

ps. Marv is NOT a winger , doesnt have the pace

  • 8 eaststandgeordie1982 // Feb 9, 2013 at 6:30 PM

I believe pards played for the draw second half if we went for it we could of won today but he doesnt have the balls to just go all out in a game like we can do with the players we have, we gave spurs to much time on the ball when we should be in their faces forcing them to make mistakes.

  • 9 tequilamag // Feb 9, 2013 at 6:30 PM

Beattie, you really need to change the record. Your posts are both boring and predictable… yawn. And as for calling people retards.. It`s so playground.

  • 10 papattack // Feb 9, 2013 at 6:31 PM

i wonder if all the people who were screaming for marveaux for the past three games still feel the same, he was anonymous for me today when he came on.

  • 11 Dennis Twice // Feb 9, 2013 at 6:31 PM

I want to be just a funny! Attack Attack Toon Attack!

  • 12 eaststandgeordie1982 // Feb 9, 2013 at 6:32 PM

We did get the ball to marv hes great with it at his feet and we failed to get him the ball

  • 13 DanRo // Feb 9, 2013 at 6:33 PM

    @Beattie25 bad night?
I don’t think the substitution was negative either. Marveaux is a very technically gifted player – good with the ball.
Whether the attitude/tactics of the team became overly negative can be attributed to several factors: tiredness, international fixtures, away game mentality, Gouffran’s serious injury, or indeed the manager.
I personally don’t think you can blame one individual factor.

  • 14 Toon1978 // Feb 9, 2013 at 6:35 PM

From last thread…..i was disappointed with the line up against Aston Villa and was also annoyed with Jonas and Perch starting against Chelsea when we had Anita on the bench. Not we have Tiote, Anita and Marveaux on the bench yet Jonas and Perch still start. Jonas is a hell of a grafter and he never stop tbf. I do like him and Perch has done really well i just think we have better players available.

  • 15 yo-yo // Feb 9, 2013 at 6:38 PM

One thing that is predictable is that when anyone challenges your opinions you resort to insults then throw your toys out the pram.

Repeat – your opinions are not facts, though your prejudices against Pardew are pretty obvious from your comments.

FYI I am not a retard – though I do teach kids with learning difficulties and they are usually better mannered than you,

  • 16 Big Pappa Cissé // Feb 9, 2013 at 6:40 PM

Speaking of match fixing does Barry have a bet on a Southampton win FFS. City throwing the championship away and letting Southampton close on us. Why couldn’t they have played like this against us.

  • 17 Sawbuck // Feb 9, 2013 at 6:44 PM

These early kick off are bad for my circadian rhythms.

  • 18 yo-yo // Feb 9, 2013 at 6:44 PM

For sure Pardew now has real selection problems. He sure ain’t going to please everybody and has to manage the players as individuals as well as the team and pick tactics.
He’s got to juggle for Metallica and then back to the Southampton game which we need to be as good as Chelski for.
We haven’t had the luxury of deciding between quality players till recently – it was who came out of the development squad.

So we all should be dead chuffed we’re arguing about which quality player comes into the side and not Sammi or Fergie.

  • 19 Toon1978 // Feb 9, 2013 at 6:45 PM

With the ref today at Spurs and the City game as well as NUFC playing Spurs the same day as SAFC play Arsenal AND when we play Everton, SAFC play Liverpool the exact same day, i am starting to think the game is corrupt as f..k. All for the money. Illuminati in charge of the EPL hahahahahahahaha.

being good with the ball at your feet is all well and good but what about when your under the cosh and need to get back in the game.

i think hes good but a bit of a luxury player and we dont seem to win when he plays.

  • 24 toonarmydownsouth // Feb 9, 2013 at 6:49 PM

Evening lads just got home from the game havent read the comments today hopefully not too negative!
Just thought id add my thoughts on the game

Firstly it was a hood awat oerformance from the lads and tbh we definatly deserved a point but we let ourselves down with two poor pieces of defending!

Was fairly solid today but had a couple of panic monements, his clearence straight into a spuds player and completley missed a punch, but pulled off a couple of top saves, nothing he could do about the goals really

Once again fairly solid good going forward but just lacked that precision with his final pass but thought he played well

Another battling display today but today his complete lack of pace was there for all too see as his got left in the dust several times, felt for him on the second goal done his bit but lazy lazy play from colo and perch

Hmm dont think he was at the races today drifted out of position a bit and had an absolute eternity to beat bale to the ball for the second and didnt make much effort to get back and make up for it, poor game today imo

This lad gets better and better, especially with gouffran infront of him!
Looked a bit stranded when marveaux came on buy made some great runs and some cracking tackles today

Dont want to sound like im bashing him because i like perch, but i said since after chelsea he is the one change i’d make to deal with bale cutting in, and unfortunatly perch couldnt deal with him, he drifted all over the place after holtby leaving acres for bale too operate in
As for the goals, well what do you say?
Your in the wall man JUMP ffs if you got 3 inches off the floor its not a goal, simply not acceptable, and the second? He just stood there staring aimlessly shouldnt of been in the 11 today im afraid

Somebody please just give this man the armband already!!!!
He’s putting in the full blooded, gritty, determined, battling performances our captain should be, fantastic today bossed midfield for us, with him in the center we’ll soon start climbing the table he simply oozes class

Looked a bit tired today tbh, but a hard working performance just lacked a cutting edge today but is certainly well on track to becoming a toon hero goid display

Another tireless solid performance looks much more comfortable on the right, bit sloppy in posseion at times but think he’s starting to look like the old guti again happy days 🙂

Really hope is knock is not to bad, because we need this boy in the squad, he’s left he’s right he tracks back he bursts forward he links up well makes chances makes runs simply fantastic display, congrats on your first goal goofy!!!

Frustrating truly frustrating, great touch followes by poor touch, great run followed by poor run
Its just baffling, he looks lost, there was on point sissoko made a great driving run through the middle and instead of dragging a defender wide or try and make some space he ran next too him and looked like he was trying to get a piggyback!!!

  • 25 croftus5678 // Feb 9, 2013 at 6:50 PM

i can not dispute tiote and anita being better players as hand on heart i completely agree with it.

but i do think it would send a very very bad signal to all players if they do try there hardest do not make any mistakes and do a lot of great things in a winnng team to be taken out because another player was availible.

  • 26 eaststandgeordie1982 // Feb 9, 2013 at 6:51 PM

We beat chelsea when played and we were level when he came on

  • 27 Toon1978 // Feb 9, 2013 at 6:52 PM

    Fair point.:)

  • 28 toonarmydownsouth // Feb 9, 2013 at 6:53 PM

Looked like the tiote of old, battled away made his presence known and passed well keep it up mr t!

Um not great lost possesion continuelessly, didnt track back and just didnt graft, done himself no favours today imo

Didnt really have a chance to do anything!

  • 30 Big Pappa Cissé // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:01 PM

    Team for Southampton

I am all for players being dropped for underperforming but Anita must be gutted. He was probably our best performer in our dismal form in the last few months and should be one of the first names on the team sheet IMO. I love Perch just as much as the next guy but choosing between him and Anita is a no brainer for me. And as for we need his height in midfield, Xavi & Iniesta seem to get on just fine despite being small.

  • 31 ballerfan2 // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:01 PM

Nice one Beattie – your comments do you proud – NOT.

  • 32 Graeme // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:03 PM

Jamsha – but shitty dont appear to be lol

  • 33 yo-yo // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:03 PM

It’s a total bitch to have to decide between a slightly lesser player who’s doing well and a quality player trying to get into the starting 11.

Better that than eeny meeny miny mo from the reserve side

  • 34 Jail for Ashley // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:04 PM

Some people need to put things into perspective, we got beat off of a team away from home with very realistic CL ambitions and a guy who his absolutely on fire atm, also taking into account we lost our goal scorer, most energetic, creative and best player of the day with half an hour to spare and we were still worthy of the draw.

  • 35 ToonDownSouth // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:04 PM

The argument that because two of the best midfielders in the world aren’t tall, we don’t need height in midfield, is a pretty crazy one 😐

I think the choice is between Tiote and Perch for the DM position, then between Anita and Cabaye for the second CM position – I’d be really disappointed to see Perch AND Tiote in CM together.

  • 36 JTOONJ // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:12 PM

    Stop advertising your blog constantly!!!!

  • 37 Big Pappa Cissé // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:16 PM

    @ Tds

That was just the most obvious comparison. Swansea’s whole team are pretty small and they are doing great this year. I think the perfect system would be for

Tiote – the pit-bull that breaks up play and wins the ball

Anita – The link up man between the back four and our more creative players

Cabaye – The pass master with an eye for goal and Cisse’s main support.

Sissoko – The driving powerhouse that can score and create

    HBA – Need I say anymore 🙂

I just don’t find it fair that Pardew seems to have favourite players and seems to pick them for their personality rather than their skillset. I think the main reason he starts Perch is because he sees a lot of himself when he was a player in him. Spurs don’t really carry an aerial threat so I think Anita should have started today.

  • 38 Alan Pas-de-clue // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:17 PM

hopefully this loss wil spur pards into needed changes i.e. anita, mbiwa over perch and one of the cbs

  • 39 Jail for Ashley // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:17 PM

On Marveaux losing possesion, I watched the game on telly so can’t see everything but I only actually counted two touches from him, his body language was all wrong from when he came on he looked like he didn’t want the ball and that nobody else wanted to give him it.

  • 40 ballerfan2 // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:18 PM

I’ve read so many negative comments after our totally committed performance today. I was certainly proud to be a Toon fan today despite the loss. If anyone wants a moan go and support Citeh. Considering the money spent, they are awful today. Their fans really do have something to moan about.
About our subs – I don’t see marveaux and Shola as negative tactics as neither are any use in that dept. Pardew was going for it but the loss of Goofy was huge and we totally lost our rhythm. What is obvious that it doesn’t matter who Pardew picks there are so many wannabe managers on this blog that they would have done it differently. Play Marv – don’t play Marv, the same with Tiote, even Collo, Taylor. It comes with the territory of having a decent squad and it will get more complicated when Pardew tries to rotate his squad. I can just imagine how that will go down with some of our so called fans.

  • 41 tequilamag // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:21 PM

I think the height issue re Anita and Perch is a bit if a silly argument. They are both short arses. Can`t blame Pardew for picking Perch as he had played well previous two games. At the same time I would say Anita has more ability but so does Tiote. Just be happy we have options.

  • 42 papattack // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:25 PM

    team for southampton
    –ben arfa–sissoko–gouffran–

guti if bennys not fit and sissoko right of the 3 guti left and anita cdm if gouffran isnt fit, which cabs further forward.

  • 43 Big Pappa Cissé // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:25 PM

    @ tequilamag

I agree but as a fan of football, not just NUFC I want to see the best team possible rather than Pardew’s workmanlike ethic that’s all.

  • 44 papattack // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:26 PM

  • 45 Graeme // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:28 PM

What a crackin game by Southampton 3-1 Shitty lol

They worked so hard for it and made shitty look very ordinary indeed.

  • 46 hotdog // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:29 PM

Tough game today and getting something at spurs was never going to define our season. Pardew was a bit too cautious for me and I was waiting for them to get a second and not us, which sums it up. Cisse was feeding off scraps and seemed to be playing on the right wing most of the second half!

Finally whoever works on dead ball and corners in our club should be sacked. Cabaye must have had 10 corners, all good deliveries and we never challenged one. I’ve got to the stage that I don’t even get excited when we get one!

  • 47 tequilamag // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:30 PM

BPC if I was forced to make a choice I would have Anita or Tiote over Perch purely on ability. Having said that I don`t really buy into your argument that Pardew picks Perch for his workmanlike ethic as Anita and Tiote both put in a full shift as well. I think but don`t know that Pardew picked Perch because he is slightly better than Anita defensively and Tiote was only just back from ACON.

  • 48 Graeme // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:32 PM

Papattack – after today’s performance, with Mbiwa fit and ready to go, I’m afraid Collo or Saylor should be on the bench. Saylor just isn’t fit, and far too fat and Collo was caught out too often.

Its a shame we don’t have the cover or both would be dropped – it will be interesting to see if a reaction can be provoked from Pardeau!!

  • 49 tequilamag // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:36 PM

Graeme a few people have said that Taylor is carrying weight but I think he looks OK to me, certainly not fat. Out of the two I think Taylor had the better game and could not be faulted for either goal. I am sure we will see Mbwia in the EL games and that should give us a better idea of how good he is in a Black and White shirt.

  • 50 toonarmydownsouth // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:36 PM

I completly agree mate he really didnt look up for it didnt offer himself as an option and generally didnt get stuck in at all when he lost the ball instead of trying to win it back he just stood there, loosing goofy was a pivotal point in the game for me, we lost a bit of spark!

But still result aside lots of positives from todays game and we really are seeing a much more spirited hard working and fluent toon side and i have no doubt we will steadily climb the table
Also fcuking glad to see QPR got routed today 🙂

  • 51 Big Pappa Cissé // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:37 PM

    @ tequila

I don’t think you can start Perch & Tiote IMO. Very few teams play with two out and out DM’s and it would be overkill to be honest. Anita is no slouch at defending either and gives us far more options than Perch. Don’t forget this guy was the first name on the team sheet for Ajax last year .

  • 52 oo aa demba ba // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:40 PM

Not a bad result today, thought we played well and carried a bit of a threat until Gouffran had to go off.

Two mistakes for the goals really, apart from that we looked OK defensively.

Yes Gutierrez gave a whole hearted performance, but his crossing is ridiculously frustrating and he looks low on confidence – I’d take him out of the team for his own sake.

On Anita, he was definitely our best player (along with Marveaux) in the disappointing Christmas and new year period. I’d like to see him in the Gutierrez position – he has pace, he’s technically good, he can get up and down the pitch and also has that bit of quality for the final delivery.

We’ll be in a better position for a European gaem than we have been all season IMO. My Team for Metalist:

    Santon Yanga-M’Biwa Willo Haidara

    Tiote Bigirimana

    Anita Marveaux Obertan

  • 53 toonarmydownsouth // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:41 PM

For me taylor didnt put a foot wrong today, but his lack of pace was exposed, but he had a better game than colo, so what do you do?
Do you drop tayls for being slow? Or colo for being too hit and miss this season?
One things for sure we bought mbiwa in as a defensive solution and he’s not going to solve much from the bench! Imo he has far too much quality too be behind either of them

  • 54 tequilamag // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:41 PM

BPC I am not suggesting playing Anita and Tiote. I think it will come down to who we are playing. Against the more physical sides I would say Tiote would edge it for selection.
Against sides that try to play it on the floor more like Chelsea or Arsenal I would probably lean more in Anitas favour.

  • 55 Oleg G // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:42 PM

Amazing to think that a win today would have gave us the 12th place.

  • 56 papattack // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:42 PM

taylors return has been massive for us, he might be a tad rusty but if it was anyone other than bale it wouldnt have been a goal.

taylor and colo have been solid enough for me. mbiwa hasnt kicked a ball at cb yet so we need to see him before we can say he should be starting. im pretty excited about him though and i do hope he displaces taylor purely so we have two ball playing cb’s on the pitch together. which should increase fluency in the team further.

  • 57 hotdog // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:42 PM

Not sure why perch is getting hammered, he was one of my top performers today. On marveaux the players didn’t give him the ball enough for me, especially cabaye who cut back inside 2 or 3 times in that second half.

  • 58 toonarmydownsouth // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:44 PM

For me the midfield 3 should be either cabs sissoko and anita, with all 3 rotating through the game, or cabs sissoko and tiote sorry but with the players weve bought in perch shouldnt be a starter, although i can see the arguement he’d earned his spot today but then anita for me had earned a spot and should of never been dropped

  • 59 tequilamag // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:45 PM

Tads I agree and again if pushed to make a choice I would opt for Taylor. Colo has also been caught out for pace quite a few times this season. Like I said before we will learn more about Mbwia when he gets a couple of starts in the EL games. If he plays a blinder in them then he should keep his place for the PL.

  • 60 Big Pappa Cissé // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:45 PM

  • 63 WWYCD // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:48 PM

Are we over the negativity and Pardew sucks stuff yet? Next match is Europa isn’t it? Big time Newcastle taking it to the Europeans?

  • 64 Taking the Papiss // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:49 PM

How predictable that people are here blaming pardew. I was at th game and the difference was Bale pure and simple. We performed less well second half because we don’t have gouff as an outlet and because we were tired. Especially cabaye and sissoko. For gods sake people have some perspective we deserved a draw and if we had attacked them like so many people here wanted it would have left more space for bale and he would have destroyed us. Our tactics were good, we played well, just got outdone by a very good player having a good day

  • 65 hotdog // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:50 PM

Big pappa – fair enough but the lad had a good game today. I’m just pleased Willo is no longer playing or it could have been another 5

I though sissoko looked very leggy today. I think everything just caught up with him after the last couple of weeks.

  • 66 WWYCD // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:50 PM

Oh hammering Perch? I’ll get in on that he’s a bang average player

  • 67 toonarmydownsouth // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:51 PM

Sorry mate but perch was not one of the better players mate, had fault in both goals and holtby played him perfectly constantly dragged him out of position to allow space for bale too cut in, he should of come off much sooner than he did the fans were basically pleading in the stadium! Hes a good lad and a model pro but he just doesnt read the game at all and often wandered off to mark players who taylor was already covering
As for marv, he didnt get the ball because he just didnt want to get involved, when he did have it instead of playing the simple pass he’d try to take mainly walker on and got disposed everytime, at one point santon made a great overlapping run marv tried to teist and turn instead of pass lost the ball and decided to wait for a bit to start chading walker down who had broke down the wing

  • 68 tequilamag // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:52 PM

Hotdog, howay man. You don`t like it when Perch place in the team is questioned and then you indulge in a spot of Willo bashing and he never even played.

  • 69 toonarmydownsouth // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:53 PM

Seriously? People are blaming pards for today? Why? Did he tell perch not to jump or did he tell the the lads to make a comical error for the 2nd?

  • 70 tequilamag // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:55 PM

Tads, we all know Ash instructed Pardew to tell Perch not to jump. He is only a puppet after all.

Did anyone else notice the amount of times both , Gouffy and Sissoko were manhandled off the ball and thrown to the floor and nothing was given.
The ref stopped the game when Bale was injured but off the pitch.
I dont think I have seen a more biased ref in the prem league, hes the same whenever anyone plays a “top 4” team.
He always gives them the benefit of the doubt, like when Gouffy got injured, what the fork was the defender doing with his studs showing that high up Goufies leg and why wasnt he sent off like Colo was for the same thing.
The refereeing is a total joke when playing away from home or vs the “top sides” it does my head in, If tiote had made that challenge he would have been off.
    Rant over

  • 72 OhSholaAmeobi // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:56 PM

Unfortunate today but it’s not terrible to lose to in-form Spurs at their own place with Bale playing.
Since we’ve got Metalist at home in 5 days, thought i’d do some scouting about. They have a lot of Brazilian and Argentinian influence. Here are some of their best:

Looks like they have a commanding CB called Gueye who’s strong and a good header.
An attacking wing back called Villagra, been called up to Argentina squad.
Midfield duo Torres & Edmar. Edmar is the playmaker.
Xavier, classy Brazilian, goalscorer, their best player.
Two tricky Argentine wingers Sosa and Blanco, quite tricky and like to play to feet.
Argentine striker Cristaldo, finisher, not very physical.

  • 73 hotdog // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:56 PM

Tads – ill give you he should have jumped in the wall but how was he involved in the second? Taylor challenged didn’t get the ball then Collo hesitated and bale nipped in.

I just think people are looking at perch because he is an easy target. Look at it this way. Who did more in today’s game sissoko or perch?

  • 74 toonarmydownsouth // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:57 PM

Completly agree mate we’ll soon see what the lads like in europa and will hopefully earn a spot in the team

  • 75 giimps // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:57 PM

Oh yes and I forgot, why bring Strolla on when the main thing he does when challenging for balls gives free kicks away to the opposition and he gets carded for dissent……clown

  • 76 croftus5678 // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:57 PM

ok while tiote has looked like his old self again and is looking like the player we once valued at 20mil.

i still think when people compare tiote to perch you have to consider tiote’s suspensions/red cards and silly fouls in dangerous area’s against perch’s sometimes inconsistant play as well as both of there qualities they bring to the pitch to get a true picture of the gap between the 2.

  • 77 WWYCD // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:57 PM

Haha aye something about his subs being defensive and him not going for the win instead telling them to defend? Not sure I didn’t really bother reading it

Missed the game, u were at WHL I take it? U seem to reckon we weren’t all that bad which is good to hear

  • 78 hotdog // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:58 PM

Tequila. Willo is the only nufc player that gets it from me as he shouldn’t be within a flippin country mile of a Newcastle top.

  • 79 magpie6699 // Feb 9, 2013 at 7:59 PM

Our record at White Hart Lane is appalling in recent years. In our “excellent” season last year we lost 5-0 and we hadn’t scored a goal there for about 5 years. So 2-1 thanks to Bale is all Pardew’s fault??

  • 80 tequilamag // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:01 PM

Hotdog, over the entire course of their Newcastle careers guess which player concedes most goals per game between Willo Taylor and Colo.

  • 81 daztoon // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:02 PM

Anita must be gutted played so well then sees himself behind Perch and Gutierrez for a starting place. The lad for me deserves his place in the starting line up even in front of Tiote

  • 82 hotdog // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:04 PM

Tequila- don’t even attempt to tell me he is a better player than those two, ill lose any respect for u fella!

  • 83 toonarmydownsouth // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:04 PM

Perch and colo both just stood there, like i said in my earlier post colo had an eternity and should of got there, but bale just nipped between perch and tayls, tayls had his shirt held by dempsey, if perchy was paying attention to bale he could of simply stepped across and blocked his run
As for who done more, sissoko constantly got up and down the pitch a couple of days after playing in an international friendly and put a harder shift in
As for perch being an easy target i dont agree with that at all but he shouldnt be statting ahead of players like anita, he’s a great squad player though
Is he an easier target than willo btw

  • 84 beefman13 // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:05 PM

My big concern is for Gouffran, really hope the lad is ok, kept thinkin about when ben arfa got done at man city the oxygen bottle n all that.

On the game, we did match spurs for long periods, and nowt much you can about bale when he is in that sort of form, you just knew if he broke through that saylor and colo did not have a hope in hell of catching him, tbf colo n saylor did play well but a couple of major errors cost us dearly.

After the lord mayors show of course but Mbiwa has lots of pace and at least would have had a chance to get back, surely Pardew knew about that threat and his pace etc, its comical looking at jonas playing hes a carthorse no pace playing wide no ability to beat a player and did not put one cross in, its got to be more than about hard work!

We are missin a trick again with the playing of jonas and perch, i am nor having a pop, i genuinly think they are nowhere near the mark to be playing, Bales first goal and the wall were jonas shuts his eyes moves slightly to the side and tries to blindly head the ball then perch just stares vacantly not moving it just beggared belief, jonas is doing so much running mainly u up blind alleys that he looks totally exhausted and cant do the job he is on the pitch for to get down the line and put crosses in, he does neither, Pardew wake up and stop playing players that are producing nothing, we will push forward again the day perch n jonas are not starters.

  • 85 OhSholaAmeobi // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:06 PM

i’m liking the new banner Ed, though one criticism would be that one of Willo or Simmo has to be replaced by Ryan Taylor. Everyone seems to have forgotten about him!

  • 86 toonarmydownsouth // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:09 PM

Aye got a ticket last minute this morning
Negative subs? How is a CAM/LW in marv and a CF in shola being negative? And defend what a 2-1 loss? Some ppl need to get a grip!
Yeah we played well, met up with a couple of mates after who were there and are souds fans and they thought they were lucky to get the 3 points as the game was pretty even, was nice to see us getting at them instead of inviting pressure weve definatly turned a corner

  • 87 tequilamag // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:10 PM

Well Hotdog Colo has played 121 games coneding on average 1.58 including a season in the Fizzy pop
Willo 69 games all in the PL at 1.49
    Taylor 152 at 1.45.
To be honest none of them come out that well. I am not suggesting Willo is better than either Colo or Taylor but I also don`t think he deserves the stick that comes his way. He is really not much worse than any of our defenders but he does make a convenient scapegoat when things go badly

  • 88 hotdog // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:11 PM

Tads – we will have to agree to disagree 🙂 gonna watch jack reacher but will be on later fellas

  • 89 OhSholaAmeobi // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:12 PM

Good performance, Gouffran couldn’t play Europa league anyway, him and Ben Arfa back for Southampton in a fortnight at home. Playing reasonably well. Spurs are on form and Bale is different class. No complaints.

  • 90 toonarmydownsouth // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:14 PM

Think the oxygen was just a bit of shock for goofy, havent seen the challenge again but my dad reckons he had a bit if a gash across the shin, was it bad?

On jonas in the wall, tbf he was the only one who jumped and perch standing still looked as if it blocked jonas getting over

  • 91 WWYCD // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:17 PM

U tell me mate but we both know what this blog is like some people are set against Pards so regardless of what he does he’ll get slated if we lose, way I hear it we just lost to a better team which am alright with and can have no gripes about…still beat Chelski 😀

Lucky devil in regards to the tickets haha and nice to hear Spuds fans giving us some praise I don’t have much against Spurs (don’t like their manager or their past one but overal a decent enough club…bit like us in places)

I am looking forward to the next match which is a new feeling this season so I seem to agree we’ve turned a corner haha

  • 92 Jail for Ashley // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:18 PM

Could anybody offer their views on what Pards could have done so that he didn’t seem like he was playing too cautious as I
can’t see it myself, in fact if Gouran wasn’t injured we might have seen Marveaux for Guti, who in turn might have seen some of the ball and shown a little bit more interest.

  • 93 daztoon // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:18 PM

For me Guti was at fault in the wall for the first goal.He jumped sideways-on letting ball goal between Perch and himself

  • 94 beefman13 // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:21 PM

If gouffran had ov stayed on then i still feel we would have got a point at least, anita should be playing simple as and tiote to start next game as well, its bloody frustrating madness Anita not being in the team.

Not griping cos we got beat beacuse we played canny, but come on add the extra class and pace and technical ability. Come on AP i know perch n jonas remind you of yourself as a player probably combined it would be you, but i think you are cheating the nufc fans with your blind favoritism. Harsh maybe a bit but its got to stop Alan.

  • 95 daztoon // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:24 PM

    As KK would say
I would just love it just love it if we relegated QPR on the 12th may

  • 96 tequilamag // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:26 PM

Beef how many CM players do you think we need ?
If you play Anita and Tiote do you want Sissoko and Cabare as well ? that makes 4 CM players or which one of Cabaye and Sissoko would you drop?

  • 97 toonarmydownsouth // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:26 PM

Are you taking the p1ss? Its a fcuking wall there all supposed to jump dont blame the one person in the wall who did there job ffs!

Are unused subs were harps anita mbiwa and obertan
Pards fcuked massivly the obvious tactics would of been to bring on harper anita and mbiwa instead of bring so negative!

Tbf WHL is not a bad place to go, fans are pretty decent, like i said got my ticket last minute dragged a mate along but met up with a few others after the game but normally meet them before the game in a spurs pub never had any trouble

  • 98 eastend toon // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:27 PM

    what twoddle daztoon

i saw the game, sossouko told the line not to jump

oh, but we cant fault anyone but the usual suspects can we

    sack jonas and perch!!

  • 99 daztoon // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:31 PM

Watch it back Gutierrez jumps but turns sideways on and ball goes between him and Perch

  • 100 beefman13 // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:32 PM

Tads, quinn, co commentating on the match sort of ridiculed gouffrans reaction at first, and the gash dud not look that bad but they then reckoned it may have went right through the shin pad so there must have been quite a bit of force at contact, it will be sore as hell tonight and tommorrow, praying there is no crack in the shin bone.

Got to say cabayes challenge on dembele was awful, and he is naughty at times is wor yohan..

  • 101 toonarmydownsouth // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:34 PM

How can it go between them? The ball was over head height ffs so if perch had jumped it couldnt of gone between them, plus jonas leans OVER perch to try and get something on it perhaps you should open your eyes next time you watch it

  • 102 tequilamag // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:35 PM

Beef, why do feel the need to blame all the time. We got beat today because Bale was outstanding. Endlessly blaming Pardew is ridiculous. Your starting to sound like catchy.

  • 103 WWYCD // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:36 PM

If I were to go to see a game in London it’d be Spurs if am honest. I don’t like Chelsea and Arsenal seem too business like (if u know what I mean) Spurs have a bit of heart to them

  • 104 daztoon // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:37 PM

Watch link and you can see gutti jumps and ball goes between him and Perch

  • 105 WWYCD // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:39 PM

  • 106 tequilamag // Feb 9, 2013 at 8:40 PM

anyway, we played well all in all, before bales second i really thought we’d get something out of the game and bar their first goal, we owned the first half.

bale was the difference, as he has been so often this season.

i’m disappointed in not getting any points but all in all, we gave a good account of ourselves. i know plenty of yids and they’ve alls aid we would’ve won if it wasnt for bale

Tequill, we did play well today and yes bale was the difference, but AP is missing a trick we have very good squad now yet the two usual suspects are still playing, i just sit shaking my head watching jonas, have done all throughout this season, very decent last season , he is a mish mash of the type i haven’t seen before, fair comment on the 5 midfielders but with ben arfa coming back as well, he has to go back in as well, proper selection headache, quality and productivity equals ben arfa, hard graft jonas, just not enough for the prem. seripus no brainer perch should be below both anita n tiote, AP picks the team his choice, do you think perch us better than anita n tiote, Jonas betta than ben arfa, of course not but AP mat still actually play them before anita tiote an benny, i really would not put it past the man.

I think colo made a stupid foul he should of stayed on his feet and sent dempsey away from goal with his experience it really was a silly foul to give away outside the box.

  • 145 tequilamag // Feb 9, 2013 at 9:19 PM

Beef. when HBA is back I cant really see a starting position for Jonas either. I just get narked that it seems whenever we get beat there has to be a scapegoat, Jonas picked out Sissoko in the first half with an excellent pass in lots of space from which Sissoko passed to Goofy to score.
It was a class bit of play. Sometimes it`s just a case of the other team created better chances and deserved the win. This was one of those days. Bale was outstanding today. A few people have compared Santon to Jonas. My god I wish that was the case.

Irrespective of the central defensive partnerships -Willo, Tayls or Collo, it is more than a coincidence that speedy forward players such as Walcott, Bale & Long, cause havoc when playing against us. For the summer transfer window, a fast CH (Sakko) to play alongside the speedy Mbiwa will make a helluva difference to our team.

  • 155 eaststandgeordie1982 // Feb 9, 2013 at 9:30 PM

Not blaming anyone the free kick could of went anywhere just think our defenders rush into things alot colo normally has a calm head didnt think it was like him to make a foul like that which is why i think it was a silly foul to give away would of been better if he wiped bale out when he had a chance before the second goal after saylors only mistake of the game.

  • 171 check the toastie // Feb 9, 2013 at 9:44 PM

Well, i think we played Ok, yes some folk were a little off colour, but i thought Cisse, Debuchy etc all played well, enough disappointing 2nd goal to give away, but defo progress being made.

People being doom mongerers give your head a shake, we are starting to turn the corner, and good news about Goofy who looks a real diamond. needs another one of his like down the right as Jonas is just frustrating.

Just a quick point, why do we end up so deep at times unable to get any territory, just asking to be beat, it was all a little predictable and defo Collo should be the CB under pressure off Yanga.

  • 172 Spuggy // Feb 9, 2013 at 9:47 PM

Check – Think I preferred your pardew our rhetoric.

  • 173 Spuggy // Feb 9, 2013 at 9:50 PM

You do wonder how Ba would have performed in this team but we have to trust cisse and support him.

  • 174 tequilamag // Feb 9, 2013 at 9:50 PM

Check HBA should be back for southampton and as much as I have fought Jonas corner all season I can`t see a place in the starting 11 for him assuming Goofy is not hurt too badly. 4 very winnable games coming up as well.

  • 175 Spuggy // Feb 9, 2013 at 9:52 PM

Agreed – I think we now know our starting 11. Perhaps with the acceptation of tiote v perch.

Perch plays it simple and doesn’t put the ball at risk. Tiote does, but he plays more adventurous football.

  • 176 north east lincs toon // Feb 9, 2013 at 9:54 PM

  • 177 tequilamag // Feb 9, 2013 at 9:55 PM

Spuggy, It is certainly looking that way to me. People can debate the merits of Perch, Anita Tiote till the cows come home. I am pretty open-minded on the issue. Just happy we have options and decent cover for injuries/ suspensions.

  • 178 Spreadthetoon // Feb 9, 2013 at 9:56 PM

Gouffran injury was a huge loss for us today and completely changed the complexion of the game. Had Gouffran finished out the game I am confident that we would have got something from the game. I hope that Gouffran makes a speedy recovery as we’re back in the dog fight. Marveaux is a great player just not a winger. He’s a CAM end off.

  • 179 jasper // Feb 9, 2013 at 10:06 PM

    A few observations:

As noted ad nauseum Jonas cannot cross, but Debeuchy certainly can. However I don’t think a lot has come from them, for no fault of his. We are not incisive enough in the box.

In this respect I have been watching Cisse closely, especially from the stand in home games, and his movement in the box has become very poor. If he does move it is invariably to the far post, which would be fair enough if he was AC but he isn’t. When a cross is imminent he mostly ambles into the central part of the area and almost never gambles near post. He needs to watch a few Robbie Keane videos to see how it’s done.

Lastly couldn’t we send Tim K up to the Falcons to be taught how to kick out of hand properly?

  • 180 yo-yo // Feb 9, 2013 at 10:25 PM

    Theory no 1 version a

If Anita had played instead of Perch we would definitely have drawn.

This is because he would have had to have jumped when Bale took his free kick being such a wee guy. Ball would have hit his head and scooted off for a corner.

  • 183 Toon-Prodigy // Feb 9, 2013 at 10:34 PM

Reet, where do we start here..

Going off our past form of the past two games and how lack lustre Spurs were today we should of won this game. As a team Spurs were far from their best. Im gutted in all honesty.

The free kick. Perch should of had his head on that. No doubt about that. If he even stood on his tiptoes he would of had it. I like Perch as a squad player and he can do a decent job but it’s time for Tiote to enter back into the frame now for me. I wanted him in before the game and I can’t help but think if he had of started, then Bale would not of had the luxurys he did during the game. He should of been marked out the game today and I feel the person who is capable of that is Tiote. He should of started. If he became a liability, then you would of had the option of Perch to bring on. Little bit annoyed about this, because as it is, Bale won that poor team the game today.

Onto Marveux because of Gouffran’s injury. Had no effect on the game today and really looked out of his depth out on the left. He is best suited in the hole for me. This injury had a huge impact on our chance of taking anything from this game. Totally lost our shape after this and missed his energy hugely.

Sissoko, the lad looked wrecked today. Needs a good rest and he should get one now. It’s been quite a fortnight for the lad.

Couple of defensive mishaps today cost us. But im gutted we did not take anything from this poor Spurs team.

Still though, we did ok, positives can be taken and I have no doubt we will climb up the table.

I want 12 points from the next four games. We are more than capable of doing it now. We need to make sure we rotate very cleverly with our Europa games.

    Onwards and upwards, HTL

  • 184 hotdog // Feb 9, 2013 at 10:42 PM

Toon-Prodigy – Poor Spurs team, i think you will find they are 3rd in the league!

Agree on Sissoko, i think he should have been hooked with 15mins to go, I think that French game in midweek cost us his performance today.

Im sure Shearer has just said Licky Rambert hahaha

They did not look or play like a team that were in 4th today. And im sure all our lads no that. It will give our lads alot of confidence knowing that as we move up the table.

They were there for the taking.. there is no doubt about that. As good as Bale is, he does not make a team. If they carry on playing like that they can forget champions league football this season.

  • 188 stuart no9 // Feb 9, 2013 at 10:52 PM

I don’t think prople on this blog are qualified to tell Pards what to do. However whatever Pards decides to do always seems to be the wrong decision – hence our limited wins and points per games ratio.

  • 189 hotdog // Feb 9, 2013 at 10:57 PM

Toon-Prodigy – They might not have been at their best but they looked solid at the back with (Walker, Dawson & Caulker), I like Dembele and they have pace upfront with Bale, Lennon & (normally) Defoe.

We deserved a draw today but no more. You could see Pardew was reluctant to push for a winner at 1-1 as he knew their pace up top would trouble us.

  • 190 yo-yo // Feb 9, 2013 at 10:58 PM

So we matched them most of the game. That’s the good news cos now we know where we are level wise.
We should be top 5 next season when we have a new striker and the side have gelled.

  • 191 woolerbill // Feb 9, 2013 at 11:01 PM

    Team selection

It does out matter how many good players, we still have a manager who can pick his best team. If perch and guti are better than Anita and marv then I will stop blogging.

  • 192 boater // Feb 9, 2013 at 11:07 PM

No shame in the result today in isolation. Not sure how isolated any result can be seen though, given that a number of the old problems remain. It still seems we are incapable of playing more than 45 mins of imposing football. We got away with it at Villa (just) but not today when again we seem to freeze in that Pardew hinterland – between playing for the draw and looking for a winner (and doing neither) – I just hope Chelsea at home wasn’t a fluke, but we are a counter attacking side now home and way under Pards – so naturally Gouffran’s injury and withdrawl scuppered the entire game plan.

The main problem is Cisse as a lone striker. I keep reading ‘give him the right service’. 2 things spring to mind 1) given the right service i.e.- chance after chance served on a plate – and any striker will eventually score the odd goal. But secondly you can’t ignore his movement (or lack of) which is making it almost impossible to find him in space with a clear chance to get a shot away.

  • 193 hotdog // Feb 9, 2013 at 11:09 PM

Is everyone that confident that we will pull clear of the relegation battle. Still half the table in it and i dont see a team being cut adrift. If we steer clear of injuries then im confident we will have enough but its gonna be close and exciting.

  • 194 stuart no9 // Feb 9, 2013 at 11:11 PM

  • 195 hotdog // Feb 9, 2013 at 11:15 PM

boater – We dont get midfield runners around Cisse. It is really hard for him to loose 2/3 defenders. The kid never stopped running today but was feeding of scraps again. Hatem coming back should create opportunities for him, im hoping!

  • 196 Toon-Prodigy // Feb 9, 2013 at 11:16 PM

Chelsea played better against us than Spurs today did and we got the result.

Sadly our energy levels wern’t upto it today. With the injury to Gouffran and our diminishing energy levels as the game progressed we lost out. Very preventable goals though. Gutting.

We needed Tiote to start today and he should of been man marking Bale. We knew he was going to be a danger, everyone did.

  • 197 Pardews Parsnip Bonce // Feb 9, 2013 at 11:20 PM

  • 199 Toon-Prodigy // Feb 9, 2013 at 11:22 PM

    Yo Yo,

There was a stage throughout that game where I thought we could have these points here. We were good enough.

Plenty of positives to take, I’v no doubt we have the quality for top 6 now. A striker and CB to replace Colo and where good to go to battle 4th. maybe a winger also, going off Marveux today, I don’t think he is good enough playing up there.

  • 200 hotdog // Feb 9, 2013 at 11:24 PM

toon-prodigy – I dont think Tiote could have lived with Bale. Watching MOD just confirms that he was the difference today, world class players do that and he is looking like a world class player.

Pardew – Yip thats what im hoping for.

I mentioned this earlier but no response! How come we had another 10 corners today and nobody could get their head on one of them?

  • 201 Sir Braveheart // Feb 9, 2013 at 11:26 PM

  • 204 Toon-Prodigy // Feb 9, 2013 at 11:31 PM

    Pardews Parsnip Bonce,

Not sure about Tiotes fitness, I do think the reason he wasn’t started though was because Perch had been playing ok and you don’t change what isn’t broken with our results in the past two games.

In the case though I think it should of been.

You never know, but for me Tiote man marking Bale through out the game would of limited him alot more. The space he had was unreal. This part of NUFC’s play today was the only thumbs down for me. Bale should of been handled. We all knew how much of a danger he was, yet the space he was gifted was poor.

Nevermind though, Im not one to be negative. I’ll take the positives that we could of got something from Spurs today.

  • 205 hotdog // Feb 9, 2013 at 11:31 PM

  • 206 Pardews Parsnip Bonce // Feb 9, 2013 at 11:33 PM

@hotdog poor deliveries. the wrong type of crosses. Decent defending and perhaps we need to revise our set pieces

  • 207 Toon-Prodigy // Feb 9, 2013 at 11:38 PM

If i knew NUFC did all they could to contain Bale today then I’d agree the lad is world class and he was unstoppable. The fact is we didn’t though, we gifted him the space. Even if Perch man marked him first half and Tiote came on second to take over.

What im saying is, we didn’t go out of our way today to look after him and I think we should of. We knew the dangers. Nevermind.

Very impressed with Gouffran again by the way.

  • 218 jayphoto // Feb 10, 2013 at 1:11 AM

Watching the game today i noticed a big problem for us was cisses movement! Alot of the time sissoko and cabaye had the ball and had no forward outlet because papiss was clearly a mile offside which effectively takes him out of the game and the ball had to go wide! Got me thinking, of all the premier league clubs first choice strikers, is Cisse the weakest? Could only really think of Norwich and wigan who dont have a striker thats been more effective than cisse this season! Some might say thats unfair because he played wide right for a bit but there is no way he should have been picked centrally over ba! His general grasp of the basics :ie offside rule, general movement in the box is terrible! Think he’ll struggle to retain his place when HBA is fit! Gouffran had his best time for bordeaux playing as a loan striker and really looks a player so far!

  • 219 Macas // Feb 10, 2013 at 1:32 AM

    It was poor.

  • 221 Troy Stavers // Feb 10, 2013 at 1:54 AM

How can anyone blame Perch for the free kick is beyond me. He didn’t bottle it and stood firm. It’s come at him from 10 yards at a fast speed.

Some people are unbelievable and love to have a scapegoat. Perch had a decent game and doesn’t deserve criticism. IMO.

  • 222 Kc-Toon // Feb 10, 2013 at 2:01 AM

Ive been thinking, if you had to pick players from the Prem just as newcastle have been raiding the french ligue, Cheap players without a reputation, who would be the names popping up. Mine would be..
    1. Elliott Bennett – norwich winger who seems a very tricky player with a great cross, seems to start benched alot tho
    2. Kerim Frei – not sure about price, but very exciting player
    3. Adam Le Fondre – Need i say more after his cameo against us ?
4.Jimmy Kebe – Lanky b*s*a*d knows how to wind people up, But also seems to have lots of joy down the wing

Any more ideas guys , or is the prem really a talentless market for cheap buys

  • 223 Troy Stavers // Feb 10, 2013 at 2:03 AM

Cisse grafted his bollocks off the entire game. He got in decent positions and was very unlucky where he was thru but fractionally offside.

He’s proven he can score goals, he grafts for the team and he is playing with different players and like most players, they need time to gel with one another.

Another unnecessary criticism of a player who had a decent game.

  • 224 Troy Stavers // Feb 10, 2013 at 2:08 AM

On top of that, your comment, questioning whether Cisse is possibly the weakest first choice striker in the premier league, makes me think you’ve been on the peeve since midday and never let up before posting.

  • 225 Toon-Prodigy // Feb 10, 2013 at 2:15 AM

Im not looking at Perch as a scapegoat, I like him, as a squad player.

He should of got his nut on that ball though, there is no getting away from that. He watched it all the way.

If he was an inch taller, the ball would of did the job for him. It was that close.

  • 226 Mister Tuff // Feb 10, 2013 at 2:18 AM

Shocking photo of what the wall does when defending a free kick. Will not be a shock to fans who know anything about football.

ooh my God all their feet are off the ground!

  • 227 Troy Stavers // Feb 10, 2013 at 2:21 AM

Why do you think he didn’t jump an inch?

10 yards away, travelling at great speed, half expecting it to go under him if he jumped.

I was impressed he did not flinch. The amount of times players turn their backs or move to the side is astonishing.

I genuinely find it astonishing you can point the blame at him for that incident.

I think he could of got his head to it regardless of the speed. This because of how close it actually was to him.

And I also think he should of jumped anyway, and that goes for if someone told him not to or not. There was no way Bale was scoring along the ground from there. There was no need to stay stationary. Either way, it’s a mistake through my eyes.

But hey look, Im not making him out to be a scapegoat, far from it. There were a number of factors why we didn’t get anything out of the game today.

  • 235 ~ Phoenix Warrior Perch~ // Feb 10, 2013 at 2:39 AM

Definitely one of Perch’s worse performances of the season. Should have done better during that free kick, however his tackle on bale during the 66th minute was mint. Solid tackle, and out of the three (Perch, Anita, Tiote) i truly believe he is the better tackler.

Still not sold on Tiote, he came on and already looked like an accident waiting to happen. 92nd minute he swings his foot wildly, could have seen a yellow for that. He is ‘sending off’ waiting to happen.

Anita to replace Perch in our next game.

I’m gradually getting more and more frustrated with Cisse. Perhaps if Goofy is fit, start him in a central role?. The lad clearly knows how to make good runs, he has good pace on him and is an intelligent player finding spaces evident by his goal.

Marveux did not stand out at all last night. Don’t recall him any impact on the game whatsoever

The reason I placed Obertan as a possible left Winger, is due to the fact that he looks best in that position, he had two assists in two games playing down the left before being replaced by a returning player. I also think he edges jonas out barely as a better crosser.

  • 236 ~ Phoenix Warrior Perch~ // Feb 10, 2013 at 2:43 AM

Sissoko can pick out a pass, no doubt about that. Could easily have 3-4 assists if Cisse didn’t fluff a few chances. If he can thread the ball through the defense, coupled with Goofy’s intelligent runs and pace, it could be a devastating partnership in my opinion.

Cisse has recently lost the plot and honestly looks almost as dire as Luque did for us. It was mentioned above, his piggybacking / run with sissoko. I was almost at the verge of pulling my hair out… they were gradually getting closer and closer to one another as if they were two magnets.

  • 237 ONLINE GUY // Feb 10, 2013 at 2:43 AM

  • 238 ~ Phoenix Warrior Perch~ // Feb 10, 2013 at 2:46 AM

Phoenix..He might come good again ..but…The header today with no one in front of him….it was harder to put it right of the keeper than putting it into the net ..Could not hit a barn door with the proverbial just now ..!chrissake

Got to dash ..All best Lad’s

Aye, I was worried as well. We looked a different side without him.

Aye, last season that would have been in the back of the net 9 times out of 10. This season its lucky if it even hits the target.. let alone go into the back of the net.

He has surprised me, seems a very intelligent direct player. Looks to have turned out to be a very classy little buy.

I was doubtful he could chip in with the goals needed until the end of the season, he has now cast those doubts aside. Have to give him credit, he has had a great start.

Gareth fuggen Bale. I believe when he plays he dons bright red briefs with a large red capital S emblasoned on the front……….Capital S for Softcock that is.

OK that’s just sour grapes. The cnuts a regular Roy fricken Race.

I appreciate that criticism is part and parcel of an assessment of a game but some of you don’t offer any praise to balance your points.

Reet, off to bed. Just finished graft.

I thought and think that Cisse is doing OK, he picks u the ball most of the time with all his teammates 20 yards away form him, nobdy to play off at all, thus making his life difficult, dont know why but we seem to drop deeper and deeper as the game goes on.

Jonas doesnt help, supposed to be selected to be a forward supporting 3, however for the most part arsnip has him playing second full back. Jonas must be dropped, he is not good enough, its as simple as that.

And Shola well, dont get me started. He will see us out of the EL single handedly.

@8 What game were you watching? Playing for a draw ? Watch a replay man when Spurs scored their second goal our two fullbacks were In the Spurs half our CM was on the half way line, Adeybyore got a toe to the ball & it fell to Bale the rest is history

Everyone is going on about the 1st goal what a stupied free kick to give away by Colo with Bale in town no need for it and he the most experienced man at the bk not a rookie, caught out for the 2nd goal too the man should be dropped and give the arm band to Cabaye could be costly not letting him go bk to Argie in the end, for me he is the catalyist for the poor defending this season that has got us into this mess.
