Good Initial News On Yoan Gouffran Injury

The Newcastle United web-site have just reported that the X-Ray on Yoan Gouffran’s shin has shown there is no fracture – and in short – that’s great news.

Soccer - Barclays Premier League - Tottenham Hotspur v Newcastle United - White Hart Lane

Yoan Gouffran – was carried off on a stretcher

This is the statement put up on the Newcastle web-site:

Newcastle United are pleased to report that a precautionary X-ray has shown that Yoan Gouffran has not broken his right leg. The French forward was stretchered off during the second half of Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur, and Gouffran will be further assessed on Sunday by the Club’s medical staff

Of course that doesn’t’ say that Yoan is completely in the clear, but at least it’s not a fracture which would have kept him out of the side for a number of weeks, and it seems it’s a gash and some bruising on the shin.

We have to hope that Yoan is fit enough for our next league game, which is at home to Southampton two weeks tomorrow.

This is what Alan Pardew had said earlier about the injury:

“He’s had an impact on his shin which was a nasty gash, he’d have probably come off with a gash anyway but it’s whether there’s any bone damage.”

“He’s gone for an X-ray and we cross our fingers that comes back okay. I haven’t seen it back. I think when you see a big gash it disturbs you as a player.”

“The doctor was 50-50 from his experience of looking at it.”

So it looks like it’s good news and there is no break.

We looked lost without the lad on the pitch. Sissoko and him are two players who are prepared to work no end. Hope he is back for the next PL game along with Benny

What has this blog come to?

It so boring and full of retards.

    Yo yo

Marveaux for Gouffran was not a negative substitute but the tactics employed for most of the second half were. FACT!!!

It happens all the time. Pardew settles for what he’s got at about 60 minutes. That has not changed in the 2 years he’s been here.

You sir are so blinded in your loyalty to him that you cannot have anyone question his tactics, his management or his decisions.

Why don’t you take off your rose tinted glasses, remove your nose from his arse and have an intelligent conversation based on reality.

In fact don’t waste your energy or your single brain cell on responding to this as I am not going to read it.

This blog used to be good for all NUFC related chat, opinion and debate. Now it’s full of people trying to be funny and/or people talking utter crap.

Surely it’s not just me that feels that way?

Don’t think Colo’s head is not there, just think that the pace of Bale was always likely to be the factor if he got the chance to run at him. When the ball broke he was quicker than Colo to the ball and then it was over, its a bit of a stretch in my opinion to say that his head wasnt right.
Overall, I thought we were decent. Gouffran’s injury was a blow (pleased to hear thats not as bad as first thought), we didnt create as much as we should. There are a lot of poor balls put into the box or when Cisse is the only person there and except Coloccini’s cross in the first half they came to nothing. Krul had a poor game today other than some good stops near the end. He looked a little nervy throughout and his kicking was terrible.
Spurs away was always going to be difficult so we move on. Still plenty of points to play for and im absolute certain we will win a lot, especially once HBA is back in the team.
Argentine season started this weekend, so if you want a break. Check out my blog. Great goal in the Velez game last night, so take a look

I believe pards played for the draw second half if we went for it we could of won today but he doesnt have the balls to just go all out in a game like we can do with the players we have, we gave spurs to much time on the ball when we should be in their faces forcing them to make mistakes.

    @Beattie25 bad night?
I don’t think the substitution was negative either. Marveaux is a very technically gifted player – good with the ball.
Whether the attitude/tactics of the team became overly negative can be attributed to several factors: tiredness, international fixtures, away game mentality, Gouffran’s serious injury, or indeed the manager.
I personally don’t think you can blame one individual factor.

From last thread…..i was disappointed with the line up against Aston Villa and was also annoyed with Jonas and Perch starting against Chelsea when we had Anita on the bench. Not we have Tiote, Anita and Marveaux on the bench yet Jonas and Perch still start. Jonas is a hell of a grafter and he never stop tbf. I do like him and Perch has done really well i just think we have better players available.

One thing that is predictable is that when anyone challenges your opinions you resort to insults then throw your toys out the pram.

Repeat – your opinions are not facts, though your prejudices against Pardew are pretty obvious from your comments.

FYI I am not a retard – though I do teach kids with learning difficulties and they are usually better mannered than you,

Speaking of match fixing does Barry have a bet on a Southampton win FFS. City throwing the championship away and letting Southampton close on us. Why couldn’t they have played like this against us.

For sure Pardew now has real selection problems. He sure ain’t going to please everybody and has to manage the players as individuals as well as the team and pick tactics.
He’s got to juggle for Metallica and then back to the Southampton game which we need to be as good as Chelski for.
We haven’t had the luxury of deciding between quality players till recently – it was who came out of the development squad.

So we all should be dead chuffed we’re arguing about which quality player comes into the side and not Sammi or Fergie.

With the ref today at Spurs and the City game as well as NUFC playing Spurs the same day as SAFC play Arsenal AND when we play Everton, SAFC play Liverpool the exact same day, i am starting to think the game is corrupt as f..k. Evening lads just got home from the game havent read the comments today hopefully not too negative!
Just thought id add my thoughts on the game

Firstly it was a hood awat oerformance from the lads and tbh we definatly deserved a point but we let ourselves down with two poor pieces of defending!

    Krul
Was fairly solid today but had a couple of panic monements, his clearence straight into a spuds player and completley missed a punch, but pulled off a couple of top saves, nothing he could do about the goals really

    Debuchy
Once again fairly solid good going forward but just lacked that precision with his final pass but thought he played well

    Taylor
Another battling display today but today his complete lack of pace was there for all too see as his got left in the dust several times, felt for him on the second goal done his bit but lazy lazy play from colo and perch

    Colo
Hmm dont think he was at the races today drifted out of position a bit and had an absolute eternity to beat bale to the ball for the second and didnt make much effort to get back and make up for it, poor game today imo

    Santon
This lad gets better and better, especially with gouffran infront of him!
Looked a bit stranded when marveaux came on buy made some great runs and some cracking tackles today

    Perch
Dont want to sound like im bashing him because i like perch, but i said since after chelsea he is the one change i’d make to deal with bale cutting in, and unfortunatly perch couldnt deal with him, he drifted all over the place after holtby leaving acres for bale too operate in
As for the goals, well what do you say?
Your in the wall man JUMP ffs if you got 3 inches off the floor its not a goal, simply not acceptable, and the second? He just stood there staring aimlessly shouldnt of been in the 11 today im afraid

    Cabaye
Somebody please just give this man the armband already!!!!
He’s putting in the full blooded, gritty, determined, battling performances our captain should be, fantastic today bossed midfield for us, with him in the center we’ll soon start climbing the table he simply oozes class

    Sissoko
Looked a bit tired today tbh, but a hard working performance just lacked a cutting edge today but is certainly well on track to becoming a toon hero goid display

    Guti
Another tireless solid performance looks much more comfortable on the right, bit sloppy in posseion at times but think he’s starting to look like the old guti again happy days 🙂

    Gouffran
Really hope is knock is not to bad, because we need this boy in the squad, he’s left he’s right he tracks back he bursts forward he links up well makes chances makes runs simply fantastic display, congrats on your first goal goofy!!!

    Cisse
Frustrating truly frustrating, great touch followes by poor touch, great run followed by poor run
Its just baffling, he looks lost, there was on point sissoko made a great driving run through the middle and instead of dragging a defender wide or try and make some space he ran next too him and looked like he was trying to get a piggyback!!!

i can not dispute tiote and anita being better players as hand on heart i completely agree with it.

but i do think it would send a very very bad signal to all players if they do try there hardest do not make any mistakes and do a lot of great things in a winnng team to be taken out because another player was availible.

    Marv
Um not great lost possesion continuelessly, didnt track back and just didnt graft, done himself no favours today imo

    Shola
Didnt really have a chance to do anything!

    Team for Southampton

    ——————————Krul——————————-

    –Debuchy——-Taylor———-Collocini——-Santon–

    —————-Tiote————————Anita————–

    ——HBA—————-Cabaye————–Sissoko——

    ——————————Cisse——————————

I am all for players being dropped for underperforming but Anita must be gutted. He was probably our best performer in our dismal form in the last few months and should be one of the first names on the team sheet IMO. I love Perch just as much as the next guy but choosing between him and Anita is a no brainer for me. And as for we need his height in midfield, Xavi & Iniesta seem to get on just fine despite being small.

Some people need to put things into perspective, we got beat off of a team away from home with very realistic CL ambitions and a guy who his absolutely on fire atm, also taking into account we lost our goal scorer, most energetic, creative and best player of the day with half an hour to spare and we were still worthy of the draw.

The argument that because two of the best midfielders in the world aren’t tall, we don’t need height in midfield, is a pretty crazy one 😐

I think the choice is between Tiote and Perch for the DM position, then between Anita and Cabaye for the second CM position – I’d be really disappointed to see Perch AND Tiote in CM together.

    @ Tds

That was just the most obvious comparison. Swansea’s whole team are pretty small and they are doing great this year. I think the perfect system would be for

Tiote – the pit-bull that breaks up play and wins the ball

Anita – The link up man between the back four and our more creative players

Cabaye – The pass master with an eye for goal and Cisse’s main support.

Sissoko – The driving powerhouse that can score and create

    HBA – Need I say anymore 🙂

I just don’t find it fair that Pardew seems to have favourite players and seems to pick them for their personality rather than their skillset. I think the main reason he starts Perch is because he sees a lot of himself when he was a player in him. Spurs don’t really carry an aerial threat so I think Anita should have started today.

    Tads,
On Marveaux losing possesion, I watched the game on telly so can’t see everything but I only actually counted two touches from him, his body language was all wrong from when he came on he looked like he didn’t want the ball and that nobody else wanted to give him it.

I’ve read so many negative comments after our totally committed performance today. I was certainly proud to be a Toon fan today despite the loss. If anyone wants a moan go and support Citeh. Considering the money spent, they are awful today. Their fans really do have something to moan about.
About our subs – I don’t see marveaux and Shola as negative tactics as neither are any use in that dept. Pardew was going for it but the loss of Goofy was huge and we totally lost our rhythm. What is obvious that it doesn’t matter who Pardew picks there are so many wannabe managers on this blog that they would have done it differently. Play Marv – don’t play Marv, the same with Tiote, even Collo, Taylor. It comes with the territory of having a decent squad and it will get more complicated when Pardew tries to rotate his squad. I can just imagine how that will go down with some of our so called fans.
