Newcastle Unchanged At Tottenham

tottenham-hotspur.png

Alan Pardew will start with an unchanged Newcastle side today at White Hart Lane in the tough game against Tottenham Hotspur today in the Premier League.

As expected Jame Perch retains his place as the defensive midfielder, in spite of Cheick Tiote returning form the African Cup of Nations last week.

And the Newcastle bench of Steve Harper, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Vurnon Anita, Cheick Tiote, Sylvain Marveaux, Gabriel Obertan and Shola Ameobi is one of the strongest of the season so far.

Newcastle have a chance to make it three league wins on the trot if they can beat a good Tottenham side this afternoon.

For Spurs Adebayor starts on the bench this afternoon, after he only made it back form the African Cup of Nations yesterday, and American Clint Dempsey starts up front with Gareth Bale.

Teams:

Tottenham Hugo Lloris; Kyle Walker, Michael Dawson (c), Steven Caulker, Kyle Naughton; Scott Parker, Mousa Dembele; Aaron Lennon, Lewis Holtby, Gareth Bale; Clint Dempsey
Subs: Brad Friedel, Benoit Assou-Ekotto, William Gallas, Jan Vertonghen, Jake Livermore, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Emmanuel Adebayor

Newcastle United (4-2-3-1): Tim Krul; Mathieu Debuchy, Steven Taylor, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Davide Santon; James Perch, Yohan Cabaye; Yoan Gouffran, Moussa Sissoko, Jonas Gutierrez; Papiss Cisse
Subs: Steve Harper, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Vurnon Anita, Cheick Tiote, Sylvain Marveaux, Gabriel Obertan, Shola Ameobi

pap…It would need to be strong for Tiote to sit on it. Oh yeah :)

So how’s the general mood? People worried, indifferent or optimistic about this game?

Same team according to talk sport!

  • 7 toonLYF // Feb 9, 2013 at 11:55 AM

As expected, and certainly good enough to get something from this match. I imagine Tiote will replace Perch at some point, Anita for Cabaye/Sissoko, and hopefully Marveaux gets more than 5 minutes but Gouffran is every bit deserving at his place in the 11. HWTL.

  • 8 darrenfletcher88 // Feb 9, 2013 at 11:56 AM

Looking forward to the game, wud take a point now!!! But spurs have a few problems up front,so am hoping we cud nick it.

im feeling positive but im worried about this holtby fella.. heard good things about him. i just hope their lack of strikers tells and we get the 3 points.

Yeh that just about calls the subs.

    Tiote for Perch
    Anita for Cabs/Sissoko
Marv for Gouffy or hopefully even Guti if he’s tiring.

The fact that the entire bench except Strolla is fit to be in the staring lineup shows how strong we are.

i still think cisse as a ticking time bomb. The service is improving to him and also he is playing in the correct position on the pitch i feel he will smack in the goals and when he does watch out people

  • 36 FloridaToon // Feb 9, 2013 at 12:10 PM

Want to see how Dempsey performs, he will be tired (told me himself) after the USA v. Honduras game Wednesday.

  • 37 hatem786 // Feb 9, 2013 at 12:10 PM

we should have played with tiote and NOT with perch…

  • 38 Black and White with an army lol // Feb 9, 2013 at 12:11 PM

i think we need to take a massive chance and secure a win but with jonas in the starting 11 instead of marv i think Pards is looking for a draw or maybe sit back on a 1-0 in the first 20 minutes which by all means is daft.

IMO we should attack from the start to finish and do a villa going out there with nothing to lose

  • 39 ~ Phoenix Warrior Perch~ // Feb 9, 2013 at 12:11 PM

Glad to see that hardwork is being rewarded and Tiote doesn’t just automatically walk back into the team. Shame we can’t fit both Perch and Anita in the Line up though.

Black and white army, we got hammered last year by going too offensive. Jonas will be needed to help keep bale in check.

  • 42 dannyboy // Feb 9, 2013 at 12:16 PM

benji84 i hope your right! hope he 1st half of the season was his poor half and want an outstanding injury free finish!! hes got the natural instinct ,just lacking confidence

  • 43 Toon1978 // Feb 9, 2013 at 12:17 PM

Spurs have a very good home record against our poor away form which worries me quite a bit and Bale has pace to burn i just hope Debuchy can handle him. On a more positive note we do have a strong bench for a change. Hope we keep tabs on Dembele and Bale two of their stronger players.

  • 44 dannyboy // Feb 9, 2013 at 12:18 PM

serious question were is anita going to fit into the team in future? imo he will be a permanent bench player unless we get 1 or 2 injurys, hel get game time in europe,fa cup etc but will he accept that

  • 45 Benji84 // Feb 9, 2013 at 12:19 PM

look lets look at the last game he was in the right areas his touch to get 1 on 1 to was only saved by a top keeper. Also the pass he did with gouffy was all his work. If feel he will bang in the goals. Also with Guiti i fee even he feels that he is playing crap that celebration showed it massively. I think we all know he plays his heart with the club ever game but his performance has been poo. Lets hope we are ready for the first 20 mins coz spurs normally go gun hoe and then after that they piss appear

  • 51 Jamiemac // Feb 9, 2013 at 12:25 PM

Spurs defence seems weak to me. And dempseys not great IMO. Their midfield however is very very strong. Hopefully we start well and don’t get overrun early on. Our bench is incredible, any of them could start for me and I wouldn’t mind. Bring Ben arfa back and its a dream! Just wondering when Raylor is back do you guys see him getting a place on the bench? If so ahead of who?

  • 52 Black and White with an army lol // Feb 9, 2013 at 12:26 PM

plus last time they beat us we where battling to get into champions and that put alot of pressure on our lads and also if memory serves me right teams that are near the relegation zone will be the toughest teams to play so tottenham will be worried or complacent that could lead them in defeat by the mighty TOON as Chelsea discovered it last season and this

  • 53 Black and White with an army lol // Feb 9, 2013 at 12:29 PM

@51 Raylor will be supporting both sides ( LB,RB ) next season mainly RB , back up for Debuchy as Hidiara will be back up for santon

  • 54 Black and White with an army lol // Feb 9, 2013 at 12:33 PM

on paper newcastle look the better side but saying that as always the ref and linesmen will favor Tottenham today as they have done every time we meet them

  • 55 Jamiemac // Feb 9, 2013 at 12:35 PM

Who would he replace in the squad though? Lets say benny replaces oba then who would Taylor come in for? Can’t drop shola because he’s only back up striker and the other players have far more quality.

I have to say we are playing well, Goofy best player of the half. Spurs looks dangerous on the break and when they get in between the lines. Other than that let’s hope things continue the way they are going and we can get another goal!

  • 147 neilinho // Feb 9, 2013 at 1:33 PM

No bother Donkey Punch. Good opening first half. Perch could have done a bit better with Bale’s free kick, like Quinn said. If he’d jumped it wouldn’t have gone in. Done well to come back into it as Spurs were all over us. Good build up to Gouffran’s goal, lucky deflection, however, they all count! Roll on the second half!!

  • 148 Nufc-83 // Feb 9, 2013 at 1:33 PM

just as i said if we held them in the first 20 we be fine. Second half need to be strong and then we be fine, Mid needs to fix the holes in the middle

  • 153 nick_9 // Feb 9, 2013 at 1:36 PM

Little bit worried after the first fifteen minutes but we are in the game now. Excellent play from gouffran and sissoko again. I think I may have underestimated gouffran when he signed, he is a very good player and if he can grab the odd goal like today then great. Still hoping cisse starts banging them in again, the service is much better now so he should do.

Spurs look real quality with their passing at times but I think we are containing them pretty well. Have to say perch is doing ok, his passing is better than tiotes in my book.

  • 154 tequilamag // Feb 9, 2013 at 1:36 PM

Nufc 83 it was Jonas pass to find Sissoko in acres of space that led to the goal. Some friggin clueless posters on here.

  • 155 croftus5678 // Feb 9, 2013 at 1:36 PM

i think perch has justified being taken off in place of tiote though and santon is looking very shaky atm.

i would moan about cisse but i guess its nothing new >.<

guti had another decent cross into cabaye thats 2 in 2 games for him now ^^

  • 156 JackButler // Feb 9, 2013 at 1:36 PM

  • 157 Big Pappa Cissé // Feb 9, 2013 at 1:36 PM

  • 158 stuart no9 // Feb 9, 2013 at 1:36 PM

we would be winning this game at a canter if we had a CF on the pitch – easily 3-1. not buying one may comeback to haunt us.the rest doing fine – krul really needs to sort his kicking out – not confident on his clearingses .

  • 159 rainrix // Feb 9, 2013 at 1:37 PM

  • 162 JAMSHA // Feb 9, 2013 at 1:37 PM

think we need marvo for jonas n.titote for percha… marvo can drible n rip the spurs defence

  • 163 Twatter // Feb 9, 2013 at 1:37 PM

    Half time analysis so far:

    - Need to sort out Bale, put two men on him if you can. He is their only threat. Without him, they are nothing.
    - Debuchy looking weak defensively as I had feared, but strong going forward. Hard to judge against Bale but really having a rough time.
    - This game will be won and lost in the midfield — Perch is not strong enough in his pressing or tackling game, so kick him up the backside or sub him. Tiote could do a job here if he’s willing to run a bit.
    - Cabaye once again our man, pulls all the strings and is getting in for tackles.
    - SUBSTITUTE CISSE. Far too many offsides, it’s getting ridiculous. Couldn’t hit a barn door. Swap for Shola if needs be, or put Marveaux on and put Gouffran in the centre as the main man.

    Half time changes:

Tiote for Perch, Marveaux for Cisse.

Need to correct the shakey defence otherwise we’re looking at a big loss potentially if Spurs decide to step it up. Only one goal away from capitulation, I can feel it.

Positive first half. Tottenham are a great side it’s fair to say. I wasn’t expecting too much from Gouffy when he came in, he’s looked good in all of his games so far, fair play to him, he deserved that goal. Say what you like, some of the through balls Cisse has been playing to the wingers etc. in the past two games have been pretty decent. Not too many complaints so far.

  • 167 Twatter // Feb 9, 2013 at 1:40 PM

Jonas is not the weakest link here in this game, it’s been Perch, Debuchy and Cisse who’ve been the weakest in my opinion. Usually a big fan of Perch but he’s just not pressed their midfield enough, getting far too much time on the ball.

  • 168 Nufc-83 // Feb 9, 2013 at 1:40 PM

Tequila oh so one pass in the build up to the goal and the means he has had a good game lool. take a look at the whole match as a wide midfielder he offers nothing but hard work which should be a given for me.

  • 195 Jamiemac // Feb 9, 2013 at 1:46 PM

    Hatemorloveit

Completely agree. As they showed on sky sports perch was instructed not to jump to stop the ball going under him. He’s been very good, few good tackles and can’t remember him misplacing a pass yet. Regarding Debuchy he’s meant to be attacking but his passing and crossing has been poor at best and he’s left us open at the back a few times.

  • 196 ballerfan2 // Feb 9, 2013 at 1:46 PM

It was the same last week – concede a goal and the doom merchants are out in force. From where I am, Gutierrez is everywhere there is danger and is playing well. Sissoko told everyone to stand still for the free kick. Perch did what he was told, Gutierrez didn’t so who’s to blame?????

  • 197 Twatter // Feb 9, 2013 at 1:47 PM

Don’t think I’m being harsh on Cisse to be honest, he’s been pretty poor the past few matches. I counted at least 3 offsides in that first half, correct me if I’m wrong. He’s missing chances other strikers would have at least got on target.

Perch has not been breaking up the play; that’s what he’s in the team to do! If he’s not going to put any pressure on the opposition midfield, what is he in the team for? Ask yourself that question.

Anyway, gonna watch the second half. I’ll be back to dissect later.

Beat by a world class player who is definitely in the top 3 players in the world right now. Otherwise is was a great performance – shola and Cisse could have scored on another day.

One negative is gouffran’s injury which is very disappointing.

  • 356 jeff // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:42 PM

Tiote is the most overrated player at this club. There is no doubt about that – anita should have come on, plain and simple.

Coloccini was at fault for both goals unfortunately, although otherwise he played well. I hope Perch retains his spot next week or Anita gets a game.

FFS can’t understand your so called “fans”. We are playing away from home and how many games we have won away this season? I thought that we could get 1pt from this game at best.

We played ok, but lost the 1pt because of defensive lapse. That’s football. More crucial games are coming and we need to win those. Spurs are third in the league so get grip you fools!!!

  • 363 Benji84 // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:44 PM

If Gouffran is out for the season then we’re gonna struggle more for goals as he’s the one that looks like scoring. A Cisse injury and we’re screwed.

The one player we didn’t want injured was a CF.

We were unlucky today, spurs are a really good side, and we gave them a hard game. Well played lads, 6 points from 9 is a good start to our recovery. I was going to pay a vist here later tonight (on whatever the latest article is) but I won’t bother because the dribbling morons will be here.

  • 370 ~ Phoenix Warrior Perch~ // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:45 PM

I think it was clear how different a side we are when Goofy isn’t on. Hope its nothing serious. A definite unsung hero since arriving.

Marv for me was invisible. Don’t recall anything special from him today

Perch tackle on Bale, precisely why I wanted him to start. Out of the three (him, Tiote, Anita) he is the better tackler.

92nd minute, Tiote swings wildly with his feet. This is why I am not confident with him on the team. On for 1/10th of the game and already a potential liability.

Walker had his arms around Goofy majority of the time Goofy tried to make a run, at one point shoving him to the ground, but doesn’t get punished.

Cisse is just frustrating to watch at the moment >.>

Oh well, Arfa back for the next game, and hopefully Goofy as well.

  • 371 TurkishFan101 // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:45 PM

Does anyone else agree with me that Colo should be dropped cause he is nothing and shadow of himself from last season ever since he is not committed. We paid around £7 million for Mbiwa which is on the bench…. Give the captain band to Steven Taylor put Mbiwa on and put Colo on bench or reserves because he simply doesn’t want to win it for us and makes stupid mistakes. We should keep perch on for next game because Tiote is still making very stupid decisions. Hoping Gouffran is ok…

  • 372 beddersmag // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:46 PM

Didnt believe in ourselves today. Too much respect given imo. Negatives- sissoko largely anonymous and wont head ball, cisse dito and weak as water. Positives- we dont have many teams as good as spurs (team bale) left to play and should be too strong for the bottom 14 sides now

  • 373 Sir Braveheart // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:46 PM

Much better than last seasons result. And with a fit Ben Arfa or without Bale this might have been different. I wanted a win but a close 2-1 loss to the team just 5 points off 2nd place now, at their ground? I’ll accept that.

No blame to Pardew. No blame to the players.

All you negative nancys that are about to come crawling out – save your doom and gloom. You’re not welcome in the house of Toon.

  • 374 naptoon // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:46 PM

    gareth bale 2 – 1 newcastle utd
good performance from us so not to disappointed realistically a point today wouldve been a bonus couple of individual errors cost us nd without bale spurs are ordinary nd we wudve won.
    hwtl

  • 375 Oleg G // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:46 PM

Nothing to do with Bale, although second goal was totally a defensive mistake. On the other side, he had another 2-3 chances that he could’ve easily turned into a goal so….

On the other hand, our midfield and attack were not great today. Looked very good with Guffi but without him, just lost. No speed. Sissoko today was less good than in previous games. Cabaye didn’t take control of the game and of some balls in the second half, although he was good with his passing here and there.
Marv came in and made no impact whatsoever. Tiote looked good in the minutes he played. Santon was good as usual, running, passing, attacking, defending. Guti was his old self, only his pass to Sissoko that led to the goal. Except that, he was very obvious and slow.

Anyway, we won against Chelsea, 3 points there. Winning also against Spurs was too much I guess.

Hope our next 4 (4 right?) games will have good results and then we will be out of the relegation battle.

Ok – got that lot out of the way. Now we can have some sensible thoughts. I didn’t expect anything from this game – someone said 2-1 defeat but decent performance and that’s what we got. Although it’s disappointing to lose to another goal in the last 15 minutes or so of the game – and a pretty tame one at that from a punt upfield – it might get a bit of realism back into expectations.

i thought gouffran was such a miss, his movement and vision and workrate was exceptional. we lost our shape when he went off.

marveaux flatters to impress me too much, i dont really rate him. not consistent enough.

we did well today though, thought we deserved a point

  • 381 Spuggy // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:47 PM

    Bedders

Sissoko anonymous? He got the assist for the goal.

  • 382 Goodfella // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:47 PM

. Bale is all they have and if he didn’t play today I think we may have won easily cant wait till next season when they haven’t got him anymore

  • 383 geordiemark // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:47 PM

well my man of the match is none other then phil dowd excellent 10/10 give spuds everything

I blame taylor for the goal, am a bit disapointed on getting nothing out of the match thought we played well in patches but we should have marked up bale a damn sight better

with all this match fixing scandals thats happening I wonder what refs are in up to there necks I would love to know there names

  • 384 croftus5678 // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:47 PM

    goofy our motm.

great team display but i think perch should make way for tiote/anita next game.

i think we definatly need a striker though.

and was collo at fault for second goal as taylor was holding the other player off and told collo it was his he just lost concentration (but it was the only time he did it and he was really good the rest of the game)

santon seems to strugle on the left wing being a right footer as everyone knows where he is going.

  • 385 ilovetoon8788 // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:47 PM

We can hold our heads up high. Not all is doom and gloom. We gave Spurs more than a match. The difference between us is of course Gareth Bale. He’s in the same bracket as Ronaldo and Messi and nothing to be ashamed about. He completely destroyed us today.

  • 386 Moe_UAE // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:48 PM

alright lets be honest .. atm we can’t be spurs at heart lane specially when they’re in form. We were simply beaten by the better team.

A decent display by the lads, maybe was expecting a little more from certain players,
but the intent was there for everyone to see that the team went in the game to win which I thought was a very positive thing.

As a fan, that all what I’m asking for.

  • 387 Goodfella // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:49 PM

    @geordiemark
    Agree about the ref useless

  • 388 Rake // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:49 PM

Good effort from the lads, Bale is really turning into some player shame we couldn’t get a point but are second half display after Gouffran went off wasn’t good enough to deserve a point. Roll on next week.

  • 389 Newcastle for alltid // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:49 PM

I always saw thi macth as tougher than the Chelsea game, so I was never expecting 3 points. We did give it a real go, but I think Gouffran being forced off, and Cissè being too isolated hurt us today. Let’s just hope it’s not too serious with Gouffran, as he’s actually quite a handful for the opposition. The last spurs goal was needless as well, mix-ups like that shouldn’t happen in the Premiership.

Another point, what would spurs be without Bale? They pass alot and have good movement, but they are actually very harmless except from the occasional pop-up by Bale.

  • 390 magpie6699 // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:49 PM

yorkymag – how many fans would have been calling Pardew for not putting Marveaux on when Gouffran came off? That could have been said to be too negative and handing initiative to Spurs!! Pardew canb’t win, can he?

  • 391 Spuggy // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:50 PM

They had Bale we didn’t have HBA.

    That was the difference.

  • 392 yo-yo // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:50 PM

My stream went down and only saw Colo getting outpaced by Bale for the second goal after a solid first half.
So, so close but Bale is on the best form of his life.

Worried about Gouffy we really need him.

6 out of 9 is okay and Pards did reckon this game the hardest left this season apart from Citeh and we matched them for most of the game – no heads went down – lots of positives except the result. Could have been a draw. That’s the way it goes when two sides are closely matched… but wait a minute they’re a good 4th ….
    Catchy where are you ?

  • 393 Newcastle for alltid // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:50 PM

    *this match

  • 394 Eddie // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:50 PM

Pity that. We just about deserved something from the game. Hope to goodness Gouffran’s injury isn’t too bad because we missed him terribly in that second half. Was a little surprised Pards went for marveaux down the left rather than obertan – thought oba’s pace could have kept that dimension alive for us. Oh well, bring on the mentalists. HWTL

  • 395 euanpolo // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:50 PM

I didn’t know Phil Dowd supported Tottenham.

  • 396 robin // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:51 PM

Ashley, Sack Pardew before he relegates us with his loser tactics!

  • 397 TurkishFan101 // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:51 PM

Reason why Marvo doesn’t start on left because he cant track back and defend and attack like Gouffran. Marvo is suited more central role as he stated before. I dont understand why he didnt put on Obertan..

  • 398 Spuggy // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:51 PM

Anyone ciricising pards is looking for a scapegoat and is nothing but a keyboard warrior.

Thought the tactics were spot on, we kept Spurs tame other than some balls over the top to bale which is our achilles heel.

  • 399 Big Pappa Cissé // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:51 PM

I can stomach a narrow loss to Spuds, however I am a little annoyed we could not nick a point but its whatever. On to the next one I suppose HWTL.

  • 400 jeff // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:51 PM

CBs were terrible today. Yanga-Mbiwa and Mbabu should be the central defense pairing next week.

  • 401 Benji84 // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:52 PM

i love it all the love. All I know is that we played a top 4 side at home and we could of got a draw and a win if we did not switch off for a few times. The only thing thats is worring me is that when santon or dubucey pound forward no one is covering. I feel by the end of the season we be smashing in the goals. But Gouffy injury changed the game Im hoping its not a Benny Arfa 2 years ago all over again

  • 402 stuart no9 // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:52 PM

beaten by a very mediocre side today. ok bale is good, but spurs were there for the taking in the 2nd half. when you needed a manager with balls mrs pardew is not the candidate. so back down to earth with a bump. the problem for us is always going to be there in the form of pardew. that is why we will never progress while he is still in charge- never. so instead of slating certain players, unless its cisse, look to see why we dropped off in the 2nd half, look no further than our incompetent manager. pardew out.

  • 403 geordiemark // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:53 PM

I like webb better then dowd and I cant stand webb so that says a lot and the comentators on sky tv what a bunch of wankers them 2 are all spuds and nowt else then they shove a bit about the toon in and all is well typical southern soft shites sorry am ganin radge here :)

  • 404 yorkymag // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:53 PM

    Magpies
Sorry it was a crap change
Obertan for pace or tighten up in midfield ie tiotie but not marveux in this situation
You are right pardew can’t win is tactically absolute shit

  • 405 Rake // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:54 PM

Anyone see Mbwia after Bale’s goal he looked pissed off… probably thinking he would of dealt with that ball.

  • 406 Spuggy // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:57 PM

    stuart

A mediocre side – spurs? Yeah you can tell by the league table, and that must be pards fault.

  • 407 Toon_Sydney // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:58 PM

Look at all the idiots here saying sack pardew, ashley out.
We lost today due to lapses of concentration. Coloccini had a shocker today giving away the foul that led to the freekick by bale. Alongside his miscommunication with Taylor for the second goal. Without Bale, Tottenham would have lost. It’s simple we lost to a team coming third who are at home . Let’s just hope gouffy isn’t injured for too long . Europa League here we come!

  • 408 Spuggy // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:58 PM

HAHAHAHA everyone wants marv on then crisitcises pards when he puts him on.

    Comedy.

  • 409 donkeypunch // Feb 9, 2013 at 2:59 PM

gouffran’s injury i really hope it not as bad as it looks. bale how do you stop what he did today. simple you cant world class players like that will allways find a way to shine my only worrie with the team is cisse at the minite tbh just does not seem a threat at all hopfully he proves me wrong with the next few games but just feel hes an out and out poacher and apart from that he doesent offer much else to the team. .dont think pardew done anythink wrong today tbh its spurs away at the end of the day we were outclassed and outplayed today simple as that got to remeber are team still gelling and were waiting for HBA to come back still

  • 410 Toonfan_Ew Ew // Feb 9, 2013 at 3:00 PM

So much negativity! Without Bale we could’ve beaten them. Taking Jonas off and putting Ameobi seemed fair. Cisse was never going to grab a goal and we were lacking so much up front without Gouffy so I can’t see anything wrong with that decision. Gouffy injury was the game changer. Thought Perch had a decent game. Tottenham are a brilliant team, but a team I dislike. The next three games are winnable with the team we have now. We look much stronger. I really worry about Cisse, poor today, all the more for bringing out Ameobi who at this rate is the only other option up front we have. HWTL.

  • 411 stuart no9 // Feb 9, 2013 at 3:00 PM

spuggy. were spurs good TODAY ? NO. you obviously werent listening to the commentators, but what do they know eh ?

  • 412 keeganjr // Feb 9, 2013 at 3:01 PM

SPUGGY: Almost dont give u anything, does it??? And he almost get himselfe sent off also.. Hes just waste of space.. But if u want Bambi u can have him..

  • 413 croftus5678 // Feb 9, 2013 at 3:02 PM

    @403

    nope disagree !

before goofy got injured i think the majority of fans were thinking give marv a run out as he can make something happen (unfortunatly he didnt) and when goofy came off i for one could not see a better replacement.

and as for bringing ameobi on at the end i believe was another good choice as i shows we actually wanted a goal.

i still think we are 2 strikers away from a top 6 team and if cisse had been on better form today (offside/headed mss/sloppy passing) we would have been there equal or better.

  • 414 beddersmag // Feb 9, 2013 at 3:03 PM

    Spuggy

The clues in ‘largely’ anonymous mate. Yeah great ball but that aside was poor and bottling headers is my pet hate. Look at him getting beat by full back in build up to second goal as an example. On other occassions didnt even bother to jump. Not down on him as a player but that needs to improve imo

  • 415 Rake // Feb 9, 2013 at 3:04 PM

On Phil Dowd it does seem we have no luck with referee’s marv was being grabbed by someone off the ball on one of our attacks …

  • 416 keeganjr // Feb 9, 2013 at 3:07 PM

sorry for gouffy.. But remember: we very lucky also today. That tackle from cabaye could been red.. nasty one.. And the reject cattermole could have seen red all ready after 5 mins against arse.. Tackles flying all over the place

  • 417 croftus5678 // Feb 9, 2013 at 3:07 PM

    @410+411

we all know ameobi is a 20min player and he came on for 5-10mins see no fault here.
and would it be better to put a winger on who doesnt score ? (guessing your thinking obertan) than a striker who atleast scores some

lets face it there was no one better to try get us a goal after marv and ameobi come on so i dont see what your problem is !

  • 418 keeganjr // Feb 9, 2013 at 3:09 PM

jesus christ they are tackling in det scums game.. cant see this will finish 11 against 11

  • 419 thepict // Feb 9, 2013 at 3:55 PM

See the negativety and pitchfork brigade are back.

  • 420 Troy Stavers // Feb 9, 2013 at 9:09 PM

How can people be negative about that performance. We played our part in a cracking game.

Sometimes, you just can’t contain a great player on form and Bale on this occasion was outstanding.

I’ve got nothing but belief that we will rise up the league over the next dozen games or so.
