It was disappointing to lose another game today at White Hart Lane, but this Newcastle team is playing so much better with Cabaye back in and Gouffran and Sissoko playing well, and it seems that manager Alan Pardew was happy enough at the display, if not the result.
Alan Pardew – good performance but poor result
Newcastle played well today – but we should have come away with something from this game, and may have had a late equalizer from Shola Ameobi but the Spurs goalkeeper made a decent save – and it was really two lapses that gave Gareth Bale his two goals that did Newcastle in today.
This is what Alan Pardew said about the game:
“They started really fast, but after that we dug in and played some good stuff.” “It was an even game really other than after that second goal which opened it up.” “I was pleased with the performance but not the result. We should be all right now.”
Yoan Gouffran was taken off on a stretcher after ten minutes of the second half, and he has an injury to his shin – which we hope is not too bad.
This is what the Newcastle manager said about the injury:
“His shinbone looks sore. It’s fingers crossed.” “We don’t want to lose him, he’s only just come to the club.”
Bale was the difference between the sides today, and he was difficult to mark – and his speed was often too much for the Newcastle defense, and Alan admitted he ‘s hard to contain in this form:
“Well he’s difficult to contain. We tied him down in certain areas but he’s always going to get some freedom. He was electric.” “The first goal was class. We should have done better for the second.” “The first goal was class. We should have done better for the second.”
We think the first goal should have been much better defended by Newcastle, and the wall broke up quickly, and provided no barrier to Gareth Bale shooting on goal.

I know marv is a decent player just saying we didnt play to his strengths by getting the ball to his feet and running at them

Yes it’s true, Bale has been massive for Spurs.
Just not looking forward to the bias towards him. He’s a top player but there’s still a gap between him and the world’s greatest, mind you.

Comment #45In the summer we desperately need a couple of forward options.
As soon as Spurs got a second today, it was game over – because when a team starts to sit back and hold for a point (which any team would do with 10 minutes left) then we just can’t break them down.
Cisse was very very disappointing today. I really hope he can get himself together.

I’d rather QPR got a point at Swansea – we should be looking up 😉

Comment #50Anita will get some time in Europa League. He might have been an asset with the pressure Spurs put on us but I have no problem with Perch, he made some key tackles.

Comment #51Having thoroughly enjoyed a highly entertaining, competitive match, its a shame to see the game changed by the ineptitude of our two CB’s.
It has to be a toss-up over Collo or Saylor as to which was the bigger clown and ultimately cost us the game.
Mbiwa should most definitely play in our next game and show them how a REAL CB performs.

Comment #52Spuggy – Trying to appeal for reason on here is a noble but ultimately pointless pursuit. It’s like Salom on here. When they smells the blood of a wounded creature they comes out like a rabid hunting pack. I smells a lynching boys.

They were good all game except for those 2 mental lapses. Saylor in particular is just class.
But I agree they were awful, fatal mistakes.

Comment #55How many more times is Krul going to kick the ball into opposing half and find that our defenders are under pressure from from the quick return. This resulted in the winning goal as far as I am concerned.Taylor no pace .and overweight.
Having said that there was some promising moves and we sadly froze after Gouffran went off.which disjointed us a bit.

Comment #56Dont get me started on Krul.
Even though we got the bodies and conviction to win aerial battles now, I still put my face in my hands everytime I see him pointing everyone forward for the long ball.

Comment #57Poor goals to give away – freekick was really poorly defended, wall didnt do its job especially perch and Krul could have done better in my opinion – 2nd goal was down to Taylors error full stop … thats the trouble with Taylor he always has a mistake in him and today its cost us a point
Gouffran was MOM until his injury, Cabaye a close second

Comment #59just imagine that team with a gomis/bony/pea/rvw .
think we have an awsome team now and goofy cemented his place as one of the first on the teamsheet along with sissoko/deb’s.
shame demba is not in this team or it would have been a top 4 team.
the things we need to improve on though are once again krull’s long balls and the fact perch who is top class on his day and consistant a lot of the time ! does have his off days as i dont think he tried as hard as he should today !
you can never judge who is going to have an off day and its very easy saying who should have played in there place at the end of a game once you have seen there performance!
but for me i said at the start of the game he should reward the players who played the previous 2 games as they did nothing wrong and when i thought things were needing insperation he brought on positive players where and when i thought we needed them.
so my only negatives are individual lack of concentration for both goals and the same on cisse’s part for the missed header.
but all in all proud of my boys today well done lads and bring on europe 🙂

Comment #60Cisse is under rated and linking up quite well with the new boys.
Cisse plays on the shoulder more than ba does and stretches the defence. Which in turn gives more room for the creative players in between opposition midfield and defence. Gouffrans goal was also partly down to cisse pulling players away with his movement. Ba reminds me of Benzema when he plays for France on how he comes deep too often. Cisse suits this team more

Comment #61yoyo – There are loads of people, on here and twatter that blame pardew for everything. It is ridiculous.
anyway.
I have word from my bookies on who is the next to get slated:
Jonas – Evens
Cisse – 3/1
Colo – 3/1
Pardew – 4/1
Saylor – 5/1
Sissoko – 9/1
Santon – 10/1
marveaux – 10/1
and of course Willo – evens.
Place your bets people.

Comment #64And I must say, of the new 1st team signings we bought, Gouffran was the one I was probably least excited about. I thought he was very average.
I must say, I am already taking that back. Last 3 games he has been great. Definitely a 1st team player. Hope he is not badly injured, he could be very important for us.

Comment #65Looking forward to the Southampton match. If Gouffran is fit, will Pards go for Perch, tiote or marveaux.
Marveaux, cabs n sissoko were pards first choice mid against villa b4 marv injury.
And who will Ben Arfa replace if he’s fit?

yep i think we should repay him by giving him a chance up front now.
the lad is just all over the place even breaking play down by tracking back he’s fastly become my fave player even over arfa/sissoko….you just can not help but know your team is going to play well while he’s in the team as he tries so hard.

dont take this as me having a go at perch but i think that display by him gives us an excuse to use tiote in that role now.
and goofy 1st choice without question for me but if not fit arfa then marv but marv and arfa are different players from one another and may need to be played different from goofy.
