Two New Top Players Newcastle Interested In This Summer

In the piece in the Journal today, the article mentions a couple of players we are interested in bringing to the club this summer, and they are new names, and since Derek LLambias was being interviewed – maybe the names came directly from the Managing Director.

Georginio Wijnaldum 99

Georginio Wijnaldum – PSV attacking midfielder

The two players Newcastle are interested in are said to be PSV play-maker Georginio Wijnaldum, the 22-year-old PSV player, who recently broke into the full Holland senior squad.

The other one is Nicolas Isimat-Mirin, the 21 year-old France U21 center-back who currently plays for Valenciennes.

Both of these look to be excellent up-and-coming players, and would be good acquisitions for Newcastle, depending of course on how much we would have to pay to get them to Tyneside this summer.

Wijnaldum started his career at Feyenoord and made his debut in April, 2007 in the Eredivisie, and he played in the home match against FC Groningen at the very young age of 16 years and 148 days.

Georginio played for Feyenoord until the summer of 2011 when at age 20, he was transferred to PSV for €5M (£4.3M) and at Feyenoord he has played 134 times with 25 goals and 11 assists.

And he has an excellent record at PSV, having played 81 times with 32 goals and 14 assists. So at just 22 he has already played 215 times with 57 goals and 25 assists – not too bad a record at all.

Newcastle were first interested in this lad about a year ago – and here is an article we wrote then about the player – who we called a whiz kid.

Nicolas Isimat-Mirin

Nicolas Isimat-Mirin is shown above and plays as a central defender,  and is a former graduate of the Clairefontaine Academy, and he stands 6’2″ tall and played for Valenciennes – although when he left the Academy he joined Rennes and spent two seasons at the club before transferring to his current club in 2008.

From what we can find out,  he has played 66 times for Valenciennes and he is right footed and there was news in January that Newcastle scouts were watching a lot of Valenciennes games, although the news was we were interested in 24 year-old Cameroon International left back Gaeten Bong.

Both of these players look excellent players of the future, but we wonder just how much they would need to pay to get them on Tyneside?

What do you think?

We ran this heart wrenching story yesterday on Eve Miller – please help the 10 year-old if you possibly can – many thanks.

Wijnaldum has an awesome record for a midfielder, be great if we could sign him but at full strength i dont see where he’d fit in. Unless we dropped tiote and when for a fully attack minded front 6.

Anyway how do you actually pronounce Wijnaldum? 🙂

Are you sure…you seem to be convinced on quite a few players now…surely we wont get them all.

Are has your keyring worked its magic on llambias too.

might be back up for sissoko….or pushing for a place.

Could replace amalfitano in the squad who clearly isn’t good enough.

Sage… Yeah maybe pushing sissoko, i thinks he’s too good to even be considered in the same bracket as amalfitano. Regardless i’d like to see him come in.

Ibiza… Im sure you could call him dave, just make sure you start wearing loads of rings and start collecting wives 😉

Love how your write Amalfitano off for no reason what so ever. He is a relatively young player finding his feet. He has played as much as Marveaux did in his first season…

    Here we go again !

How many other clubs are going to express an interest in these two before the end of the season !
Lets watch ou for other clubs mooching our transfers? Where,s Harry? Before you know it Mirin will be at QPR and Wijnaldum will be going to Chelski?

Is the Bull starting to fly about Window Transfer Targets already in Mid Season !
We could start to make deals before the Window opens though? Or is that not the done thing?

dmac…. Marv played a lot more in his 1st season than amal has this season. Lets face it if he was good enough with our injuries this season he would have played more games but he hasn’t. Bizarrely every time I’ve seen him he’s looked decent and has nice feet, by the looks of things he isn’t rated.

Sage – all I know for certain is we have had scouts watching the lad consistently (even after the window shut) and I am hearing he requested to see out the season with Valenciennes before looking to his future, and he has certainly not ruled out NUFC who he is fond if as a club. The other players linked are Alderwield (but ONLY if colo leaves), de Jong is still very very strong, and although PEA is being mentioned a lot of late – I can’t see it happening myself. Can see him being over priced out our range.

Ibiza – and good morning to you, sir !!! 🙂

Marvoux was limited by an 6 month injury lay off.

Amalfitano is 23…older than sissoko and same age as anita and is no where near the first team.

At 23 you have to be closer to the first team, he has no chance of making it.

    Dmac / Expat –

Completely agree !!! People were expecting instant success from Alfi but he was ALWAYS going to be a development player. He is a very good and very technically sound player. He is getting better and better at Newcastle and when he breaks into the side – the doubters will be proven wrong.

Sage – I think to say he will NEVER make it is harsh. He may not be development AGE – but ability wise he is a rough diamond. I think he has a future at this club imo.

I presume you have seen more of him than me so fair enough.

I think at 23 you either have it or you dont, he couldnt get in our struggling team this year and whenever i see him I think he looks capable with the ball but never does anything.

Mirin would be a good acquisition. Under 21 as well so wouldn’t affect our 25 man squad (if im not mistaken).

i would not write him off just yet but i do not think he will become a 1st teamer either more like if he does hit it off become a squad player.
next year he will be loaned out if anything as we will not have space for a squad number for him.

and in mirin liverpool watched him all season also and was heavily linked with him as a replacement for caragher so i dont think its so cut and dry tbh… the lad if he did come though (mirin/good/streete) great future cb’s

Think we need a major overhaul of our development squad and fringe players come the summer, the like’s of Fergie, Abeid, Tavernier, Sammy, Streets and Campbell need to go out on a season long loan to get playing time and experience.
Whereas the like’s of Williamson, Simpson, Gosling, Shola and Obertan (all of which are no longer good enough) need to be moved on and replaced with young players who will eventually push for first team places

In my eyes if amal couldn’t get into the team against brighton then theres something not right there.

Wether its a lack of ability on his part, pards doesn’t rate him or personal issues i dont know. But when you looked at that side it was full of development players and he could only make the bench. That says a lot if you couldnt make that side.

    Morning lads hows it going?

Been watching mirin more since you mentioned him, still a bit raw but the lad has plenty of talent!
Do you hear many rumours of outgoings btw?
Heard a rumour the other day that marv was basically off, he wants first team regularly and the club have been less than impressed with his attitude

Sage – I’m not sure what is going on behind the scenes, but I suspect it’s a settling in issue. It’s a HUGE step up to play the English leagues and he is one playe whom I would send on loan to find his feet.

Technically he is very gifted – physically he is lacking though.

Didn’t they say when he signed that they didn’t expect Amal to feature at all this season? I guess as things have gotten worse and worse as the season went on it was even less likely that he would feature. For me, the jury is well and truly out on him.

Sav – a little harsh don’t you think? I know his timing isn’t the best but we criticize upper management for not communicating and when they do we slam them for it.
I personally think it is great the management are opening up and giving some insight. I think he deserves to be judgement in the success and financial stabilitynofmthe team.

Wijnaldum… now this is a kid that I truly thought was above us, I expect great things from him and I really really hope we sign this kid, he is an amazing attacking talent that can play anywhere in the attacking 3rd but has went off the radar over recent years.

A great piece of business should we get him, but I have a feeling his price will be very big, so I won’t hold my breath on this one but great to be linked all the same!

Blah. Waste of an article. Llambias isn’t dumb enough to have two of our summer targets made public unless the deals are already done. And then, they may as well make a press release.

I think I might have missed something with Mirin, because he has been less than impressive when I have seen him. Can one of the blog scouts let me know why he is so highly rated?
