When 23 year-old Moussa Sissoko came to Newcastle last month – like any top class young professional – he said he simply wanted to improve his game as much as he could, and Newcastle was a very good place to do that.

And Moussa is also getting a lot of chances to hone his interview skills too, because ever since he starred in that first game at Aston Villa, he’s been interviewed an awful lot – and he’s a good interview subject – because he says things he means – and he’s a great character to have on Tyneside.
Apart from all that he’s also a fantastic player, and will only get better at Newcastle – now there’s a thought.
This is what Moussa said in the local Newcastle press this morning:
“It’s great to get such a good welcome.” “Everybody on the team wants to give the fans more to cheer about.” “With this crowd behind us, we can win any game at St James’ Park.” “It’s very important.”
“I came here to win things and this gives us the chance to do that. For us there is everything to play for in the second half of the season.” “I always try hard to give the best account of myself in each game no matter what competition.”
“But we can’t forget that it is about team performance.” “We all have to perform together.” “The new players bring a boost to us.” “The intensity of the game is a lot different to Ligue 1.
“But I followed the Premier League in France, and knew it was intense, I wasn’t surprised.” “Now I just focus on my game.”
When Sissoko joined Newcastle it looks like he didn’t check out Newcastle’s record of winning things over the last 44 years – but there again it’s players as good as he is – that will form the basis of the team for when Newcastle do win another trophy – and we have to hope it’s soon – because for some of us old-timers – the sands of time may be starting to run out.
We’d be very happy to win the Europa League this season. 😀
Howay The Lads!!
Note – today we are trying to help out one of our readers – Northumbria University student Alex Redfern – who is doing research on the impact of Newcastle’s recent sponsorship deal with Wonga – please fill out Alex’s questionnaire on the topic – and that will help his research – many thanks.

Comment #81I think you’re all wrong. Demba Ba to me is a better player than Van Persie. Ba is faster and better at long range shots. Ba is also bigger and stronger.

Comment #82Kets….that must make Peter Crouch the best player in the world then. Maybe we should sign Frank Bruno up and play him at centre forward….he’s bigger than Ba as well. As for Bale being as good as Messi….can you hear those sirens? It’s the men in white coats coming for you. No wonder other clubs’ fans laugh at us with idiots like you on the loose.

Comment #84Is that ‘cos he’s an ugly bugger? I can’t think of any other reason. I think you’re a wind-up merchant.
