Cheick Tiote Speaks Out – Kind Of

10:25 am, Thursday, February 14th, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 11 Comments

The Evening Chronicle has published an interview with Cheick Tiote this morning, where Cheick says tonight’s game in the Europa league is the most important game of the season for Newcastle – but there’s not a mention of his arrest yesterday by Northumbria Police on fraud charges – that seems a little weird.

But Cheick is expected to play tonight, and he has this to say about the game:

“This is our most important game of the season so far.” “We have a chance to go far in this competition. It would be a good experience for the club, and for the players as well. If we do the right things then we can go forward.”

“Everybody is ready to play in this game,” he said. “And everybody wants to play in it.” “You don’t get a chance to play in Europe too often. We must make the most of it.” “For me this is the most important game of the season so far.

“If we play together then it can be good to go far in.” “We are in a good way now. If we play the way we did at Spurs then we have a good chance to win every single game.” “We have to work as hard as we did at Spurs.”

Good words from the Ivorian there.

We’ll see how Cheick does tonight – but he needs to cut out making silly fouls just outside the penalty area – and of course his lack of discipline is a weak point of his game at the moment – hopefully that can be corrected in time.

We’re not sure what the fraud charges are – but they seem to do with some driving offenses he’s had in the past – maybe he’s tried to cover them up in some way.

But the thing that surprised us with the story of his arrest at around 6:00 pm local time last night, was his custom Chevrolet Camaro which was reported to cost £75K – here’s the Chevrolet web site in the US – and Camaros they start at around $23K – that around £14K – so how can you get one as expensive as £75K?

You can actually build one – so if you get everything possible it’s still not too expensive, although the 2013 Camaro Coupe ZL1 is $56,550 – around £35K.

Cars must be much more expensive in Europe it seems.

We hope Cheick has a great game tonight.

Danny boy (from prev) I hope your wrong about Shola. I think Cisse needs to play every game he can to get his mojo back. Shola will probably appear for the last 20 mins or so if cisse starts. (I hope)

    danny

what if he gets injured in one of our easiest (on paper) league games against southampton? should we only save him for the harder ones?

should we not like him train etc…

I think just get him in….he needs games to get his form back…rather take the chance and get some goals for us in europe.

Danny, yeah if he gets injured we’re left with shola on his own in europe, and goofy up front in the league, but since cisse aint scoring, we’re used to getting the goals from behind him anyway. I think the gamble is worth it to try and play him into form. You might be right though, pardew might not want to risk him.

    Excited about the game tonight.

Metalist are a very physical side, they have a midfield who enjoy tackles and not necessarily the best timed tackles!

The keeper is 37yrs old, a solid performer but not comfortable catching the ball, prefers to punch. The back line are very organised, hold a very high and tight line (which makes it a shame that Gouffran can’t play as he’d have a field day)! Obviously they’ve lost both there top players lately which is a huge bonus for us.

With their habit of giving away silly free kicks on the edge of the 18 to break up attacks however they can, we could see Cabaye notch a screamer tonight!

    Fingers crossed!

Next to the oh so worthy but dull, dull, dull comments made by managers & footballers habitually, the Chevrolet Camaro info was very interesting, Ed. Please lets have more of the outside world on this blog.

Ed “Cars must be much more expensive in Europe it seems”

Have you never heard of the phrase “Treasure Island” when used in conjunction with the UK ?

We’re used to paying £ prices for $ items . I recall Lotus 123 used to cost $395 and we were having to pay £395 for it here in the UK. Same with CD’s DVD’s etc and dont start me on about cars !!!!!!

Its Rip off Britain Ed !
