There seems to be a nice partnership developing between new boy Moussa Sissoko and Papiss Cisse, and that could be seen on Thursday evening when both players combined well and Moussa set up Papiss with a number of chances.
Papiss Cisse – in action on Thursday night
Sissoko knows all about the skill Papiss Cisse has for putting the ball into the back of the net and although the Senegal striker hasn’t scored the goals he scored for us last season, he’s still getting into good positions – and was unlucky on Thursday night not to get at least two goals, and he could have had even more.
It seems that he’ll be getting a lot of support from Moussa from now on, as this is what the Frenchman had to say about his forward partner:
“He is a very good goalscorer and gets in such good positions that he gets a lot of chances in a match.” “On Thursday it was not his night, he just co“But all his team-mates have a lot of confidence in him. We know that given the opportunities, he will score many goals for Newcastle.”
“We know exactly what he can do and what his strengths are.” “I am sure that between now and the rest of the season, he will find the net many times. Hopefully, the goals will start to flow next week in Ukraine.”
“Yes, I think we have shown that we can score at any time in the matches since I have been here.” “Unfortunately, on Thursday we couldn’t – we just did not have the luck on our side.”
“Sometimes, they fall for you, sometimes they don’t. But there is confidence in this side. We know what we are capable of. Next week in the second leg, we just have to make sure that we do score.”
“Obviously the disallowed goals were a bad thing for us. The positive thing is that it has not cost us the tie. We just have to do what we have to do when we get another chance next week.”
It’s FA Cup weekend and therefore Newcastle will not play until Thursday night in the Ukraine in the second leg, but then we’re back to the Premier League, and must get a decent result against Southampton on the following Sunday.
