It was a great win for Newcastle tonight, but there are now worries about two of our best players – Tim Krul and Yohan Cabaye.
Shola Ameobi – in action tonight – Shola score winner form penalty
Yohan Cabaye was replaced by Gael Bigirimana after 87 minutes and the French International seems to have sustained a knee injury, but just how bad that is we don’t know at the moment.
And Tim Krul was fouled in the last few minutes of the game and had to have treatment – and the reports coming out of Kharkiv say that he’s been spotted on crutches – so that doesn’t sound too good – although we don’t know how true that report is.
But we have to hope these two players are not too badly injured, but of course there’s little room for any recovery from injuries, since we kick off in less than 72 hours against Southampton on Sunday – in what is a crucial league game for us.
We hope there will be some news on the injuries before the night is out.

Comment #82Both of them will just be knocks. Cabaye is definately not injured, he was playacting. All that happened was knees knocked together. Kruls didnt look bad either, might have swollen a little bit so they are being precautionery.
Both will start v Southampton, chill out

I know it’s so disappointing to finish 5th above chelsea, liverpool and everton and get into the Europa league.

Selective memory…
He spent the entire summer talking about how badly we needed new players, and how small our squad was.
Then, when it didn’t happen, he tried to stay positive. If he’d come out and talked about how terribly short his squad was, it would be an insult to the players at the club, and ‘fans’ would accuse him of being negative.

Comment #89My two main complaints tonight are that he played Cisse on the wing which is just a waste and we tried to sit back and defend for the best part of 20 minutes. They barely created anything until them and we should have just kept possession and frustrated them. Other than that a great away performance

Comment #90spuggy that was last year. we had a run without too many injuries. Unfortunately sometimes managers cant take clubs any further. it happens and i think, it has with him

Comment #91Cisse still nearly scored. He’s looking a lot sharper these days, just needs to put a few away. He’s still getting shots on target, he’ll be up top come Sunday and soon I predict he will go on a goal scoring run.

Comment #92TDS why say your happy if your not. All he did by saying he was happy is insult our intelligence when 90% of people on here would say we undercooked it

Comment #93Aye lee, he should have come out and said the owner is shit and weve been left with a shit squad who wont win any games. Good man management that.

How is it that when we get true squad depth, we win 4 out of 5 (I’m counting metalist at home as a win) including chelsea at home and you say pards has taken us as far as he can?
Does not compute my dear boy.

Comment #96olivant…ireckon we can beat either Anzhi/Hannover…
obviously would want Hannover instead of Anzhi purely cause of logistical reasons in getting to Dagestan…
NUFC and Spurs have a great chance to do well….especially as Athletico went out tonight….
We should go allout to try and win the competition.

Comment #98My MOTM was Krul played a blinder when called upon. Shola was a close 2nd he was outstanding tonite. The whole back four played well. Thought Cabay wasn’t himself tonite.
Hope the injuries are not that bad.
Role on Sunday hoping for a clean sheet an at least 3 goals from the toon HWTL!!!
