Pardew was right to cite Debuchy’s excellence.

Pardew is a master at talking to the press like how he praised Ricky Lambert and give Debuchy the proper praise as well

    From the last thread.

I will never understand how a player who has under performed for the majority of the season, is a liability in terms of cards, gets ahead of two players who are in form, do not get in the book as often and are just as effective in the team.

Apart from Tiote starting, thats probably our best line up.

    robin // Feb 24, 2013 at 12:50 PM

Pardew, the loser never fails to amaze with his dodgy decisions dropping Mbwia, and keeping Colocini, the cart horse in the team and his buddy Jonas, what a clown Pardew is if they beat us today this idiot should be sacked!

    Rotonda heights // Feb 24, 2013 at 1:04 PM

MYM for Tiote and Anita for Jonas I’d be happier, but otherwise not bad line up.

    MUTINYbyLEMONS // Feb 24, 2013 at 1:23 PM

Hope Tiote recovers his form and does so very quickly otherwise he can be a liability and needs to be dropped. His passing this season has been terrible and has cost us many goals and put us in dangerous positions.

Not a bad side out there today- however need a quality CF. cisse my only concern this afternoon.

Am i the only one who thinks elliot is a solid goalkeeper? He really impressed me today and he looks a exellent goalkeeper, he is actually better than Krul in some ways, his throwing and goal kicks are superb and he actually set up chances for us and distributes the ball really well, something that Krul can’t do. he made some great saves and the goals we conceded he couldn’t of done much about anyways, I actually feel comfortable when he is in goal because he just seems to know what he is doing all of the time.

To be fair to Rotonda, that post is hardly shameful 😉 It’s surprising to see there’s no check on there, he’ll be gutted. He’ll have to up his game for next week.

Poor Catchy he got all excited when Saints scored, thought he was on a comeback with his Pardew out crusade. Not a peep from him after we came back. It`s almost like he did not want us to win.

Good comments re: Elliot, his distribution was excellent….something Krul could learn from him. Did a great save from the free kick. Southampton were a good side and we got some good breaks but overall I believe we deserved the 3 pts.
Need to take this momentum to Swansea…that’s another 6 pointer imo. That will be a very tough match but I am hopeful that HBA will be included and play instead of Jonas, who sadly is no longer able to function as an offensive winger, he’s better as a DM imo, his pace is gone. Btw Debuchy was very very good, along with Sissoko and Gouffran always is exciting to watch. Great win! HWTL

Mapou Yanga-Mbwia had a good half, was willing to take on a player and always looking for a thread ball – he will get better when he gets more regular football, shows lots of promise and been decent in Europa.

as good as the result was both conceded goals could have been avoided, taylor at fault for the first and taylor and santon at fault for the second. wonder if haidara could hack the prem?

+1 for the compliments for Elliot, superb distribution and that throw to the left flank was Scmichael esque. Top drawer stuff for sure. Tiote was magnificent today too. All in all a good shift put in. Great to see Cisse still pumping his fist to himself 5 mins after his goal, it really meant alot to him and hopefully that will be him on the front foot now.

Honorable mention for Gouffran too, the work this lad puts in is phenomenal, he could run all day and he seems perfectly suited to that left of a front 3 role.

I think everyone played well today apart from Santon who needs to realize he is a defender first and foremost, an attacker second. The good thing is we have Haidara breathing down his neck so he knows that another performance like that he could find himself benched. Also I have been critical of Tiote lately but was pleasantly surprised with his performance today and he looked back to his best.

    Poor poor bradford!
Great experience for curtis good though he’s done himself proud with this loan stint
And good on you wayne routledge great to see an ex player doing well, shame we thought obertan was an upgrade on him!

You missed me off that list pal, hindsights great eh, but lets be honest on his recent performances tiote didnt deserve that starting place, he’s been awful this season
I said to WWYCD he owed us a performance and fair play he put a great one in, still with a hideous challenge thrown in on rodriguez, but still a great game for him so fair play to him lets hope he’s found his form now and keeps it going to the end of the season

Elliot was great today brilliant performance from him great distribution and some great takes and didnt let himself get bullied
again was fantastic best performance in a toon shirt so far!
i dont think was too good today think he got done for pace and positioning for both goals 🙁
    thought was okay
though done really well once he settled never easy coming on mid game at CB but showed his class, this lad needs to be playing!
not his best game needs to get back so much quicker if he’s going to attack as much as he does
Best game this season, started to look like tiote again! Still had a nasty challenge on rodriguez but solid display
Great game as always cracking pen but poor corners today
This bloke is a beast great great great game…..again!
Looks much more confident on the right, plays well with debs and drifts in and plays the ball well
So so impressed with this lad gets better every game he’s everywhere, defends, attacks, plays midfield what a cracking little player!
Great goal lets hope it boosts his confidence, on the whole though he needs to stop fluffing these simple 4-6 yard sitters he maybe holding the ball up well yadda yadda, but he’s our number 9 theres only one thing i care about him doing and thats putting the ball in the net, from an onside position!

Fascinating on these blogs during the game. I really can’t believe the childish negativity when we conceded the first goal. Is this really what being a supporter is about. I would hate to be playing in a team with these people, seeing their heads go down at the first setback, probably blaming all and sundry apart from themselves as they of course have all the answers. The quicker they can understand that there are TWO teams of professional footballers out there and Southampton were not going to just roll over for us. In fact they are clearly a very good team – just ask Man City – so today turned out to be a very good result, although no doubt it wasn’t good enough for some. Sorry for the rant but I know a lot of you understand perfectly where I’m coming from.

I dislike it when one player or a manager gets singled out. Or gets grief because of poor form.

Form comes and goes with every footballer. There is no point giving them stick.

In Tiotes case. He is the best defensive mid at the club and one of the best in the league. He has by far the most ability and has the best all round game at NUFC by a mile. We seen that today.

Its gutting for the lads to be dropped but you have to play your best 11 when available. None of who stepped in put in world class performances they did well and did a job that is all.

Not one Toon fan would have Ben Arfa out the first eleven because Obertan or Jonas was doing well. Why? Because Ben Arfa is better and has more ability in his bag.

The same goes with Tiote. He is the best we have.

You have to field your best eleven when available.

    Well where to start:

Firstly, let me just say that i never ever use this Blog during a game, i wouldget far too nervous and caught up with my reactions to the game. My concentration is totally caught up with watching.

Secondly, Spuggy, i can understand you being critical of some of the posters on here, because some of them are just so fanatical to the point of being Stupid? Some of the comments made are born out of the fact that they are passionate about their club! They are all of course experts and are continually telling us so!

Finally, i am just very pleased with the three points! Which is what we allwanted at the end of the day eh?
Enjoy the moment and MOTD 2 thisevening!
