Newcastle fans who have seen Moussa Sissoko now in five games he’s played, have quickly realized this lad can become a top player for Newcastle and a top player in the Premier League, and to think he still has lots of time to improve at only 23 years old.
Moussa Sissoko – could become top Premier League player
Alan Pardew compares him to Frank Lampard and one player we remember way back - the great Duncan Edwards of Manchester United – also played like Moussa, but Edwards was killed in the Munich Air crash of February, 1958, when he was still only 21 years old.
But Edwards had already played 171 times with 22 goals for Manchester United and 18 times for England with 5 goals.
This is what Newcastle manager Alan Pardew said about Moussa Sissoko:
“I think he has really fitted the bill for what I wanted in this team.” “I wanted a traditional number 10.” “Today that is more of a midfielder’s role rather than a striker’s, with the exception of Wayne Rooney and Marouane Fellaini.”
“I put Sissoko in that bracket.” “He’s got that strength and stability to get wide players into the game. Frank Lampard did it from midfield for Chelsea all those years and I’m hoping Sissoko plays that role.”
Moussa has been compared to Arsenal’s Patrick Vieira and he also plays like Yaya Toure of Manchester City – so he’s been compared to some top players in the game.
It’s not a coincidence that Newcastle’s recent revival has been because of the signing of five top French players, and Moussa has been the star man of those five so far – playing in every game for Newcastle, and he’s expected to start today against Southampton at St. James’ Park on what has been designated French Day.
In those five games Newcastle have won their first two away games of the season, and also defeated Chelsea 3-2 at home, thanks to two superb late goals from the French International.
And to think he cost only £1.8M from Toulouse.
