Newcastle Interested In Dutch International Defender

4:21 am, Monday, February 25th, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 6 Comments

Chief Scout Graham Carr will have orders from Newcastle to pinpoint a center-back Newcastle can bring in over the summer,  if Fabricio Coloccini leaves the club to return to Argentina for personal reasons and join his family there.

Stefan de Vrij

Stefan de Vrij – Newcastle watching this defender

And there is news today that Newcastle were at the Feyenoord vs PSV Eindhoven game yesterday when the home side won 2-1.  There would be a number of good players that Newcastle scouts could have been watching but the news is that the Magpies are monitoring the form of Dutch international defender Stefan de Vrij, the 21 year-old 3 times capped Dutch International,  who has been in fine form for Feyenoord this season.

Managing Director Derek Llambias has already  said that Newcastle have targets in Holland for the summer, and maybe this young  center-half is one of them.

The Feyenoord captain has been attracting a lot of interest across Europe and the Daily Mail is reporting that both Newcastle and Liverpool are interested in signing the young defender this summer.

De Vrij has only 18 months left on his contract at Feyenoord,  and could be brought to Newcastle for a reasonable fee in the summer – if Fabricio leaves the club.

The 6’2″ defender joined Feyenoord at the age of 10, and made his first team debut in September of 2009 when he was only 17 years-old, and has since played 101 times for the Dutch club with 3 goals and is their captain.

This lad looks a top up-and-coming defender, but we’ll have to wait and see what the situation with Fabricio Coloccini is this summer.

What do you think?

    Repost.
What made Tony Blair such a good politician was his ability to look a person in the eye swear on his mothers life and tell a blatant lie unfortunately for him Pards isn’t that good at it and when he bigs up Mashley and says if it wasn’t for his financial imput we would of got beat today, what he meant to say was if the fat bstard had of spent in the summer when I told him to we would have been pushing for a top four place AND the EL.

Him or Toby Alderweireld would do just fine here next season. Is it just me that thinks we should bring in 2 CBs this summer, one to replace Colo and one to replace Williamson?

We are one Defender and one Striker away from having a Top Four Team for next year?

This i really do believe! What was surprising yesterday was the way in which people reacted on here to going 0-1 down in the first two minutes at home to Southampton? Spuggy highlighted this afterwards, thanks for that Spuggy but you just brought attention to a fact i suspected but did,nt definitely know for sure!

Some of the posters on here are just never ever satisfied, with the trainer, with the players, with the club, with their lives ? However well the Lads do, there is always someone on here, being Nagative and i mostly tolerate it but some of the comments accented yesterday by Spuggy were Vitriolic and down-right Childish ! Can,t understand what some of you doing supporting the club if you can be so bitter towards it !

Anyway, moving on, watched Wilfred Boney score a hatrick yesterday against Heracles Almelo, commentated afetrwards that CSK Moscow are preparing a bid for him and Boney,s after match comments, more or less confirmed, he shall be playing in Russia next season? Watch this space!
Still think that Van Wolfswinkel would be a better signing?

@3 read your blog about Boney! Seems as though he said he was going to CSK Moscow a few weeks ago same situation we had with Enrique he was talking for months before it happened that he was off to Liverpool, either the players or their agents have been tapped up & money has changed hands either way it stinks.

    @4:

Whichever way you look at it? Its just about Money grabbing agents and greedy Players wanting to earn as much as they can as quick as possible!
Boney is a good player and everyone knows that, including himself! because of this he has the attitude that he can name his price as far as regarding salary etc! It does,nt matter diddley squat to him about giving your all to win Trophey,s or Championships etc? I used to be a big fan of his but just recentlyh is mentality Sux!

He will, i think end up in Moscow which will be good for him and maybe bring him down to earth and go a way to taming his arrogance? The Russian league is,nt an easy league to play in?

I think we would do far better to concentrate on This lad from St Etienne or van Wolfswinkel fro Lissabon ? I just would not bother with Boney anymore, the Arrogant Twot!

As far as regards de Vrije from Feyenoord? Would be a good signing if we could pull it off, but, believe it when it happens?

@5 If press are to be believed, Liverpool are also looking at Vrige & have supposedly made an enquiry about HBA in fact Toon are supposed to be going to offer him a new contract , If bin dippers are after him lets tell them start your bidding at £40mill then we might talk after all they are desperate for champions league football , if you want it that desperately you got to pay for it.Their darling boy Gerrad has said it “Nothing other than champions league will do”
