News today on the Newcastle web-site that 21 year-old Shane Ferguson has joined Birmingham City and Lee Clark on an emergency loan deal.
Shane Ferguson – on loan at Birmingham through April 1st
The loan has been arranged at St. Andrews until April 1st, so there are six league games in that period that Shane could be playing in, which includes the Wolves game on April Fools Day.
Sammy Ameobi recently joined Middlesbrough on loan through the end of the season, and we pointed out at that time, earlier this week, that it was only a matter of time before Shane went out on loan.
Shane has played 14 times for the Newcastle first team and 7 times for Northern Ireland, and it will be interesting to see where Lee Clark plays him in the Birmingham side, as he can play at left back or out on the left wing – and he’s a good player who should help Birmingham.
Birmingham are currently in 16th place in the Championship with 42 points from 34 games, and they are 7 points above the drop zone.
Comments welcome.

Get campbell on loan somewhere too.
This is good news though, games will help him.
2 Ben3arfa // Feb 28, 2013 at 11:29 AM
Fergie needs games, I reckon this loan will be extended till the end of the season.
Hes had a disappointing season so far , hopefully he works hard and comes back stronger next season

Great news, good to finally see some of our youngsters getting first team experience. As a club we have tended not to do that enough and it probably shows with how few youth players have been successful here.
Repost from last thread because Ed’s banging these articles out:
Ibiza – both our keepers now have an assist each, and both to Cisse goals haha
4 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Feb 28, 2013 at 11:38 AM
Ben…Really? Which game was the Krul assist from?
Good to see these youngsters being sent out on loan can only benefit them.
5 winnynufc // Feb 28, 2013 at 11:39 AM
Good player with lots of potential a loan would do him the world of good. Campbell would do well to go out on loan to. He’s been great for the reserves, would be interesting to see how he would do at Champ level. HWTL
6 giimps // Feb 28, 2013 at 11:39 AM
We havent loaned many out cos they were needed here as we were short of first teamers.
Good luck to him and any of our other players who go on loan, they will more than likely benefit from playing.

Willo needs to go on loan as well he need sum game time
8 Tinman // Feb 28, 2013 at 11:51 AM
Jamsha, hes 29… I highly doubt he will be going on loan
9 Phatoon // Feb 28, 2013 at 11:59 AM
@Ibiza,
He assisted Cisse’s header in the 1-2 loss against Everton
10 TorqToon // Feb 28, 2013 at 12:05 PM
Great move for the lad. He needs game time and will benefit from this greatly. Nice to forge a bond with Clarkie as well.
Next up for a loan should be Campbell to a championship side for games.
11 Pardews Parsnip Bonce // Feb 28, 2013 at 12:05 PM
this is good news. good club for him to be loaned to.
do people agree with me that even if fit hba shouldn’t immediately start against swansea?

Sage
I think it was you on an earlier thread who said Benny’s stats were nowhere near as good as Mata’s and Messi.
With respect I don’t think the latter 2 are asked to track back to cover their full back but rather concentrate more on play making and scoring with teams being built around their creativity and ability to hurt the opposition.
13 lewytoon // Feb 28, 2013 at 12:06 PM
i think ben arfa couldve been back a few weeks ago but apparently hes off to psg in the summer, so pardew probs getting team used to playing without him, not hurrying him back

Think campbell will go out on loan next season! Got a feeling Remi Streete might go out on loan too, when i’ve seen the u21s hes looked the most likely to break through! Is Tavernier out on loan? He was so highly spoken about in the first part of the season but seems to have disappeared?
16 Pardews Parsnip Bonce // Feb 28, 2013 at 12:08 PM
@lewy apparently?
17 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Feb 28, 2013 at 12:08 PM
PPB…I agree with you, but then I agreed last year when Pardew held him back and we all know how wrong he was about that, at least I’m repeatedly told it was wrong.
Lewy…Do you not think it’s more a case of the last time he came back and was thrown in he got injured straight away?
The team is doing pretty well so there isn’t the same desperation to get him on the pitch. Makes sense to me.
18 Transfer Sage // Feb 28, 2013 at 12:10 PM
Rotonda
It was me yeh, yesterday.
I could accept that but even when benny played in France he got no where near Hazards stats.
So I don’t think this is just an issue he has had with us. I think it’s something throughout his career. He has bags of ability, technically so good but seems to be lacking something to tie it all together.
19 lewytoon // Feb 28, 2013 at 12:12 PM

@Sage
I think it’s just consistency. Mind, people used to say the same of Van Persie.

HBA wont start untill we play Anzi in the home leg.
22 Tinman // Feb 28, 2013 at 12:16 PM
Swansea too soon
Anzi away, we play more defensively – Jonas
Stoke too rough, too risky, not needed
Anzi home, we’ll probably be needing a goal or 2

Thats what I think….he obviously has the talent but he is a very good player. Like you say RVP never became the world beater he currently is until 27…he was always injured and not consistent before.

27 Ben_BKK // Feb 28, 2013 at 12:33 PM
Ibiza – sorry for the slow reply but yeah it was against Everton, Krul hit it long, everyone missed out and it went through to Cisse who headed in.
Giimps – I meant in general rather than just
this season, this is the first time in ages that we’ve had quite a few players all out on loan at the same time, hopefully we’ll send them out again next season and get them a while season playing first team football at a decent level.

29 santonthenewmaldini // Feb 28, 2013 at 12:38 PM
Just need to send Tavernier out on loan and thats the youngsters sorted
I hope because we have picked Middlesborough and Birmingham that we are looking to get some of their young players in the summer
30 geordiesteve520 // Feb 28, 2013 at 12:44 PM
Just become apparent why Ashley sold his stakes in Sports Direct – was to free up some cash to take over Republic. According to BBC the fee is undisclosed; what’s the betting it is roughly £100 million?
31 Ben_BKK // Feb 28, 2013 at 12:52 PM
Bigi would be another good one to loan out. I can’t see him getting much playing time now we’re I’m the later stages of the Europa league and out of all the cups, and if we lack cover, which is unlikely with Anita, Perch and Marveaux not currently getting game time, we make sure we have a recall clause. He’s looked decent when played in the prem so could easily command a starting place at a good Championship team.

Haven’t heard any rumours, or even speculation, about HBA going to PSG.
He’s always said, though, that it would be a dream move for himn – one day.
Every chance they could come in for him.
They have the money.
My feeling is, though, that HBA would say NO.
He’s happy with where he is, still has lots to prove (to himself), has really bought into our ‘project’ and I think he may see his ‘dream’ move as being a bit of a nightmare at the mo’.
36 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Feb 28, 2013 at 1:14 PM
Sorry Ben, had to jump off for a bit
Agree on Bigi, not likely to be needed at this stage and looks really promising so give him the season run in to gain some more experience.
GeordieSteve….Sounds about right.
37 toonincheek // Feb 28, 2013 at 1:17 PM
Can’t see Bigi going out on loan,
He’s too close to the 1st team.
Likely to be on the bench fairly regularly (especially if we maintain our run in the Europa) and will get the occasional appearance as sub.
38 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Feb 28, 2013 at 1:17 PM
toonincheek….He did said that one day it would be a dream to play for PSG, but he has also said how important it is for him to feel valued and loved and that’s exactly what he is here.
I’d imagine once he gets a near enough full season showing what he can do then a PSG may come along, at this minute in time I just don’t see anyone paying what Ashley would want on a player who has the skills, but to date has not delivered it on a consistent basis.
39 robin // Feb 28, 2013 at 1:19 PM
Mbwia, is easily the best defender at the club, watching him at the training ground he is on a different level than Colocini, and he is a proven winner. So why does it take an injury to Colocini, for Mbwia, to get a game? Pardews, got to go in the summer for kissing Colocinis, arse the guy should have been dropped for wanting away and Pardew, should have been sacked for having a go at the fans after the Reading, debacle!
40 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Feb 28, 2013 at 1:20 PM
Toonincheek…He is close to the first team, but in his position we also have Anita, Perch and Gosling who can cover. Just seems Bigi would benefit the most by getting out on loan…or maybe Gosling.
Also, with Benny back soon, I can see Jonas’ spot coming under threat, so he’s another option to play CM if needed.
Not saying I think he will, more that he probably should.
41 Rake // Feb 28, 2013 at 1:20 PM
My theory on Benny not having more assits and goals for his outstanding technical ability comes down to direction. He should be told to really attack players and not just hold onto the ball and run around into the mid field. I really believe if he is coached to be more direct he would start to get more assits and goals… Just a thought.
42 DannyH10 // Feb 28, 2013 at 1:22 PM
Good move all round. Ferguson has looked one of our better young players, when he’s played. I think he and Bigi, are the ones we can really hope might step up to get regular first team football. (I can’t really judge Campbell, only seen him play for about 10 minutes)
Hopefully he can help Birmingham who have been struggling recently.
I’m not too convinced by Sammy tbh, has pace, but little end product.
43 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Feb 28, 2013 at 1:22 PM
Robin…Do you not think the guy who pays Colo’s wages had a little something to do with him ultimately staying? Sorry, getting ahead of myself a bit. Let’s start again…
Do you not think?
44 Ben_BKK // Feb 28, 2013 at 1:26 PM
No worries Ibiza, I think people are all probably on their lunch breaks and want to save the blog for when they’re trying not to work
Toonincheek – yes he’s close to the first team but with a number of players ahead of him in his position now we’ve got Cabaye and Tiote back and brought in Sissoko I can’t see him getting much game time. It’d be better for him and for us if he got some regular games until the end of the season now. As with Ibiza I don’t particularly think we will loan him out, just that we should. Gosling is another we should send out on loan, he’s needed first team experience for the last two years.
45 Ben_BKK // Feb 28, 2013 at 1:27 PM

Pardew is clueless.

To be fair to Robin, I think the jury is still a bit out on Pardew with a lot of people.
With the better players we are playing better and that partially reflects on Pardew undoubtably.
55 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Feb 28, 2013 at 1:52 PM
Dok…How old is your son?
I have spent some time on the west coast before and it was always a nightmare trying to watch the games live. Mind you, waking up early morning to drink and watch football doesn’t sound like too much of a hardship
TS…I can be a little slow at times, so appreciate you breaking it down for me. Usually using pictures helps me a lot. Jonas for Benny? Please say that’s not true…

I think robin is beyond being fair with…appears slags of pardew for the same thing every day then leaves.

I am afraid it might be…we need jonas for every single game.
58 Ben_BKK // Feb 28, 2013 at 1:55 PM
Ibiza – I used to live in Bangkok (hence the name) and for World Cup 2006 it was only on local Thai TV rather than cable, and they used to show ads during the game by minimising the game into a little rectangle in the top corner of the screen and show adverts with the rest of the picture. I’m surprised they don’t do that in America, I mean didn’t they want to play World Cup 94 in quarters do they could show adverts?
59 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Feb 28, 2013 at 1:56 PM
Rotonda…Be fair to Robin? Come on now. Criticising Pardew for our season to date is one thing, but this constant regurgitating rubbish from Robin is clearly a wind up. I mean Pardew out because he’s been playing Colo, who rightly or wrongly is captain and was in the PL team of the year last season, give me a break.
I can get my head around the jury still being out for you (incidentally I looked back at an article of Eds from when Pardew was appointed and I must say I was impressed to see that you have not changed your tune, at least you’re not fickle), but this is completely different.
60 noladonna // Feb 28, 2013 at 1:59 PM

The same with me and american sports. I want to like American football and basketball but find it so slow paced in terms of stopping, showing adverts, timeouts, it just ruins the game.

TS, yes, yes i am
ibiza, my son is 6, has two full seaons of soccer under his belt already… quite the little striker i may add, (1st in scoring and 2nd in scoring respectively)… but he is quite religious about watching toon with me, even watches europa with me as well… he also knows that when toon score a goal, he is to bring his loving father a beer…
when the world cup was here, no commercials were shown though…
64 Ben_BKK // Feb 28, 2013 at 2:03 PM
Dok – I watch a lot of toon games online and often stream from fox soccer, the as are ridiculous (not during the game obviously), I love the navy recruitment ones, their slogan being “America’s navy – a global force, for good!”

Dok…Does your son know you’ve set him up for a long life of misery?
A beer everytime we score…hmmm…I gotta get me a son it seems. Tell me, is saving myself having to get up and go to the fridge offset with the work or parenthood?
TS…I went to an American high school for about 4 months and people tried to get me into American “football” and it just didn’t work out. I also played some “soccer” with them too, don’t think they appreciated me constantly telling them they’ve got their names all wrong….or maybe it was that the girls preferred the English accent…jealousy is an ugly thing

What did you study in Newcastle? I’ve only ever visited Newcastle a handful of times and that was a long time ago. Really need to get there sometime soon…I mean i’ve never even stepped in to SJP and that is beyond pathetic.
American TV…Why oh why can they not edit things properly? Programs cut out too early all the time, is it just a case of earning more money with advertising time?
Probably should stop this anti american chat, I do love the States

Swansea is a very good team who do what they do very well. High pressure and alot of movement and passing.

175 Mister Tuff // Feb 28, 2013 at 5:46 PM
Ibiza @161 – indeed a blog psychologist would be a welcome addition to the blog to sort out some of the posters or offer advice. Also with their medical knowledge they may be able to sort your ear out. Have you considered that your renowned stance of sitting on the fence may be connected to having a duff lug. You may only be hearing half the argument.
Only downside to this plan would be that someone with MPD may appear on the blog claiming to be a psychologist – we will not know if he is genuine or a charlatan.
176 Ben_BKK // Feb 28, 2013 at 5:49 PM

177 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Feb 28, 2013 at 5:50 PM
