As expected Yanga-Mbiwa starts the game today at Swansea in place of the injured Fabricio Coloccini.
The team is the one we had published in our match report earlier today – although 20 year-old Massadio Haidara makes the bench for today’s game, and as expected Yohan Cabaye captains the side for the first time.
This will be a tough match for Newcastle and we need to start this afternoon on the front foot against an in-form Swansea side, fresh from their Capital One Cup victory at Wembley last Sunday.
For Swansea former Newcastle winger Wayne Routledge, who is having a good season at the South Wales club – starts today against his former club.

With Mbiwa playing we can play a high line and squeeze them out I would go the same as Southampton with Tiote and Sissoko pressing all over the midfield and Cabaye as the quarter back playing in Gouffran and Cisse!!

Getting restless over the Ben Arfa situation, I know it’s probably for the good of his fitness that he’s not in the squad but its still such a letdown. He makes us a much, much more dangerous team. No other side in the league seems to have their key players out as much as we do. Still, I feel optimistic and its still a strong team so I will say 1-2 to Newcastle with Gouffran scoring and how about this for a bit of optimism, Yanga-M’biwa to get our second from a CORNER….you hearing this lads, I must be on drugs. Cabaye captain sends shivers down my spine! Can’t wait for him to get the armband on a full time basis! Was gonna wait til after the Summer transfer window to get his name on my new shirt but am gonna go right ahead and get it done next week.
Genuinely feel good about today – I doubt Swansea will have partied too hard, Laudrup is canny and won’t have allowed anything too extravagant. You have to say the man has a huge management career ahead of him. Despite that, I’m still feeling really confident for the win! Cabs to score with the armband for the first time and Cisse to grab another to go with his brace from last year.

I think Ben Arfa is a bit precious and wont be playing in Russia, home game against Anzhi i reckon the first time we see Benny start a game. Plus Parsnip will have to drop Jonas, never gunna happen. Dont see the point in Willo being on the bench when you have Anita, Perchy and Haidara who can play along the back line, maybe Obertans injured.

Alright this is what needs to happen..
Pardew needs to tell tiote not to make any stupid challenges, if he hasn’t improved come the 60th minute = perchinho. Cisse needs to be told to calm down, piss of britton by scoring. Anita on for Jonas as he has been a long long way of the pace of this game. Anita is a similar kind of player to hernandes, de guzman, slight, pacey and can start moves. 4-3-1-2. Rely on the width for Santon and Debuchy, whichever fullback is attacking, tiote drops back to fill the gap.

truth is swansea are a good team. Against lesser opposition they’d be up 2 or 3 goals by now. The ball simply isnt sticking to the feet of our strikers enough especially sissoko. Gutierez offers nothing going forward. Debuchy has been more threatening despite the fact he’s the full back

Shaky at times but elliott hasnt had a save to make. Thought Nathan Dyer had broke his leg the way he was screaming on the floor, then jogs away after seeing Cabaye get a Yellow. The thing is if ya gonna pick up a booking make sure it is worth it. Hit them hard and make sure they stay hit. Tiote picks up little stupid yellows, i wouldnt mind if he actually did the above.

Pretty even stats, not much to separate except for maybe the two yellow cards we’ve picked up. Don’t think I can argue with Tiote’s but Dyer was a little sh*t for making such a meal out of Cabaye’s challenge.
I think one of either Tiote/Cabaye should be subbed off at the 60 minute mark, because they’ll be wanting to aggravate us and try and get someone sent off. A yellow-carded midfield pairing means that we won’t commit to the challenges so much, which might prove costly against such a versatile opposition who love to play it about.

However, I will blame Pardew for us not going at them, the tactics were defensive to the point of inviting the inevitable. For me he could have brought Anita and Marveaux on at half time for Tiote and Jonas. They were struggling to get going against us in midfield and that pairing would have driven them back, an attacking defence which I am sure would have yielded a goal or two. So yes, Pardew its your fault this time, far too cautious. But I wont jump on the negative bandwagon, I see the stones are already turning over…

Kevymartins the way swansea play is excellent as not only like last season do they keep the ball in their own half they have more cutting edge and do it in final third now. Its up to the other team to get the ball and press them so blame our players for not working hard enough if you feel that we never got the ball. Even when Ben Arfa is fit he wont drop Jonas, he showed this last season till only the point when one of the lads got injured than he chose to sub Ben Arfa on. Tiote should stay away and play in reserves, because Anita a magnificent talent is on the bench while Tiote can play when ever he wants and Pardew wont say nothing. Jonas should be gone, sold in summer. I remember him stating he wanted to go italy to finish off his football and retire at so hopefully hes gone this summer.

From what I heard on radio, they were miles better than us first half, with decent chances aswell. So I dont see how we can say we were particularly unlucky? as for Mbiwa, I said from day one that he would need a tall dominant defender beside him because he isnt tall for a prem centre half , and the french league does not require the same heading ability. He will need to sharpen up. As for Marveaux, perhaps he would have risked the draw as he is quite lazy defensively.

Very disappointing today, I would start with Marvaux ahead of Jonas. Cabeye’s set pieces are awful unless he is shooting and Cisse has had another shit game. I’m starting to loose patience with him. Its not good enough to score the odd screamer and dont start me on how many times he is caught offside. Weekend over for me.

wtf. laudrup changed his tactics at least twice and used his subs well. Pards just sits there , happy for a draw. This is what happens pards…game was there for the taking.
when in control of the game, guti and tiote were not needed and had no influence. marv and either obertan or shola should’ve come on for last 25mins. i guarantee this ben arfa fitness thing is a lie. i cant see pards dropping jonas and he knows fans will be after him. We just need to aim for 7th place. If we fail to achieve that, we have to win the Europa cup. I’d definitely take Loic Remy next season, however, I think QPR will stay up. Villa and Reading are doomed. Got a feeling Wigan will win today so they should be safe.

I think our best team would have got something today, santon was pretty poor defensively and stevie taylor for all he puts his body on the line isn’t the cleverest with position and timing. Add to that cisse/sissoko/gouffran missed sitters and we can say we were unlucky but a point was all i’d hoped for.

Keeping two boys in the middle of the park on a yellow and guti for 89mins says it all.
If we were to go back and make the changes i would of wanted, anita-tiote halftime, marvo-guti 60th-70th minute and shola if need be at the end, we wouldnt of lost!
This is why pardew is not the man to take us forward, so many of these silly mistakes iv forgiven but theres f*ck all u can do but watch it, painful to say the least.

Cisse, Sissoko, Goufran and Cabaye all missed guilt edged chances
what worries me is our set pieces, in games where we dominate, there is no score score from such an important part of a team’s attacking threat.
Maybe Cabaye has to hand up dead ball duties

No issue with today’s game.
We started sloppy and then came into the game. We dominated the second half and missed two good chances which could have won it.
Our finishing cost is today but equally their finishing kept us in it til then point when we had been sloppy.
Poor from every one involved for the goal and if you are sloppy in your own box eventually something goes against you which it did today.
Not a crucial defeat but a win would have been nice.
Overall a good display but couldn’t find the net. A much more positive defeat than we were suffering pre January.

We were outplayed today by a Cup winning class side, lets not forget they have just thrashed that other top class side Bradford City. Swansea are so classy they should be top of the league and so great they’ll probably win the Champions League in the near future, equally their top international players will be challenging for the Golden Boot this year, next year and so on. Really they are a great side. When the Toon sliced through them on numerous occasions and failed to score because of shocking finishing -this should never ever be considered as part of the game as Swansea were so good, they were great.
Now the reality check -there are complete and utter tools on here that honestly believe that sh**e I have just written above. Blind tools who know nowt about football.
The correct match analysis is that we should have won but for bad finishing -and I’ll say this for this first time ever -Cisse needs a couple of games on the bench.

I just want to ask everyone, what’s your measuring criteria? Really? We played good? compared to what? If Michael Laudrup had the team we have Swansea would of killed us today.
In my opinion Padrew is a poor manager for so many reasons.
As for people that blame players for missing chances… they are wrong. It is the managers job to pick the team based on player’s form. Even if Messi was playing like shit a good manager would drop him.
As for the last few games that we won.You know why we won? because we have Good players, individual skills. But we didn’t look like a good TEAM!!!
Anyways, I am sick of the way we play and sick of the wasted opportunities to accomplish something.
