What Team Will Pardew Start Tonight?

10:15 am, Thursday, March 7th, 2013 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 17 Comments

The big question today, just around seven hours form kick-off is what starting eleven will Alan Pardew field tonight against Russian Premier League side Anzhi Makhachkala, who look a very good side.

Alan Pardew will need to think about Sunday, and certainly he gave some games to players in the Ukraine such as Simpson, Haidara and Anita and they all had excellent games, so it may be similar side tonight in Moscow.

Here’s the starting eleven we think Alan will start tonight:

Elliot
Simpson Taylor (S) Yanga-Mbiwa Haidara
Ben Arfa Anita Sissoko Cabaye c) Marveaux
Ameobi (Sh)

And that will leave players like Tiote, Santon, Williamson (the forgotten man at Newcastle it seems), Obertan and Gutierrez fresh for the game on Sunday.

And Yoan Gouffran, Mathieu Debuchy are available and fresh since they are not qualified to play in Europe, and  Papiss Cisse, who also did not travel should be fit after his virus infection.

The Newcastle manager probably wants at least half his team on Sunday fresh from not playing tonight, and that should do the trick.

What team would you start tonight in Moscow – let us know.

Being fondled by this new girlfriend of Tiote’s is too good for Ashley..
    PS: Discretion advised.

If HBA isn’t fit to start then i say put santon on the wing, and have simmo and haidara as full backs.

More than enough creativity in the squad to nick a goal.

    repost:

Generally speaking, I think Taylor and Mbiwa are pivotal tonight.

I’ve always thought, as a fanbase, we over-rate Taylor. However, he’s been brilliant in the past 4 games he’s played, he’s really impressed.

I also find it a significant coup that we managed to capture Mbiwa. Hopefully the pair of them are on their game tonight.

Strange that Williamson hasn’t made the trip though. Pards obviously has faith in Perch to come in if one of the two gets injured. Mind you, Williamson isn’t exactly one of these ‘technical’ players Pards keeps talking about for tonight, is he…

There’s no way HBA will start. Pretty sure Pardew has made that fairly clear

Rainrix…It pains me to say, but I agree with you.

Now, where did I put that bottle of bleach? I must cleanse myself.

Carrying… I think Perch can do a job at CB, but only against smaller quicker opposition as we saw against spurs. Against taller players he’ll just get dominated. Although hopefully saylors but his injury worries behind him (long shot i know 🙂 ) so he shouldn’t really be needed to play there tonight at least.

ibiza… Which bit? About pards being stupid or the part about pardew being stupid? Either way contact your nearest catholic church for an exorcism, being a pardew hater doesn’t suit you. 😉

Hoping to see a bit of Campbell… he seems to be the type of player who will try to latch onto through balls all day

  • 12 Rainrix // Mar 7, 2013 at 10:26 AM

Roshan… Man of glass taylor will break again in about 3/4 weeks so his comeback will be perfectly timed 🙂

  • 13 IITianToon // Mar 7, 2013 at 10:27 AM

Our medical team seems very poor. Players nearly always are out for much longer than they are pencilled to be..

Rainrix…Really? I’ve been working on my scowl so much and thought I was ready. What a disappointment 🙂

I meant not playing Benny if he’s not ready.

  • 15 Rainrix // Mar 7, 2013 at 10:31 AM

Ibiza…. I kinda hope pards has just been playing those pesky mind games again and benny’s been fit for 4 weeks and will start tonight. 🙂
But if he’s not fit dont risk him.

Oh and to be a true pardew hater you have to be consistent, cant have random injections of positivity now can we 🙂

    rainrix

Very true. As much as we need a striker, the club have got to be sure they sign a decent centre back in the summer. Colo will go and we can’t rely on Taylor to be fit week in week out.

I really hope we don’t have a repeat cycle of williamson bashing come the start of next season.

    They have positivity injections?

Shoot me up with some optimism man!
