We have closed the poll for the Man of the Match voting for last Sunday and after over 2500 votes have been cast, it’s revealing just what an impact the new French players have made at Newcastle this year.
Newcastle captain Yohan Cabaye - top man on Sunday
Below are the results of the poll, and apart from Steven Taylor – who finished second in the voting – all other players in the top seven are French – headed by Yohan Cabaye, and four of them – Sissoko, Yanga-Mbiwa, Debuchy and Gouffran only joined us in January.
That transfer window will go down as one of the best ever for Newcastle, and don’t forget after the Reading defeat we brought in four new players during the next week.
Now they form the basis of a very good squad at Newcastle, and they may even be able to make this season one to remember.
We hope so.
And the latest poll we have up is asking our readers how we’ll fare tomorrow night.

It will be a good game no doubt.
Wasn’t too impressed with them last week. Some good moments but in general they suffered as much as us on that pitch.
Will be an exciting game with both teams having power, pace and flair in the side.

We still need a new striker or two until Campbell shows if he will make it in a year or two perhaps…
