Let’s Hear It For This Frenchman

For the second game in a row,  Sylvain Marveaux set up the winning goal for Papiss Cisse in added time last night against Anzhi, and since our injury crisis which started last November, this Frenchmen has probably taken advantage of the opportunity he got in the first team – more than any other Newcastle player.

newcastle team

The Newcastle team last night – Marveaux is front and center
– in more ways than one

Sylvain was troubled by injuries last season at Newcastle, and even before that he had trouble at Rennes before he joined Newcastle, and in November of 2010 he aggravated a groin injury that had been bothering him during the season, and Sylvain did not play again for the rest of that season.

And of course in June of the following year, he signed on at Newcastle as a free agent, while Liverpool delayed signing him after he undertook a medical at Anfield – for whatever reason.

But this season has been another story for this lad, and he has so far played 30 times for Newcastle with two goals, and with Ben Arfa injured and out for the season, Sylvain becomes even more important to Newcastle through the rest of this season.

The lad has looked an excellent player over these last two or three months, and he was again one of Newcastle’s best players last night, and found a way to win the game at the death.

We want to give credit to Sylvain Marveaux for coming along so well at Newcastle this season, and he’s looked a very good player in the famous black and white stripes of Newcastle .

He’s looked over the last three months like the player we though we signed in the summer of 2011 – and how much did he cost again? 😀

Sylvain played 11 times for the French U21 side several years ago, and if he keeps up his excellent form of late – who knows – he may even get a call-up to the full France squad.

And then how many French Internationals will we have playing at Newcastle?

Howay The Lads!!

As I’ve just said in previous article. In thye last few games, Marvo is doing what we hoped Arfa would. Long may it continue. I think he’s an excellent player and getting better with the more he plays and fitter he gets.

    So…

Tiote is playing poorly, and should spend a little bit of time on the bench. I really want to see this team.

Ibiza -@20 previous thread -are you accusing Tads of being a duplicate poster (proud)?
There’s one or two of them about at the minute – I spotted “The Man with a Thousand Faces” yesterday and sent him a message asking if he could do the “Funky Chicken” but he hasn’t replied yet.

    Ibiza…Pardew Out I’ll say!

Tsunki…Is Marcelino the joke himself? (I am usually not as slow as Ibiza, but I am not sure I get it)

    How’s your headache?

Come home to find that we’ve drawn benfica, Ben Arfas out for the season and Pardews an idiot. Tragic.

Marveaux will have to fill Ben Arfas role then it looks like. Benfica is a hat one, at least the second leg is at home. As for the Pardew problem…

Was there ever a guy called Marcelino played for our club? He’s just like a substitute teacher showing up during rainy days.

I hope Benny will agree to surgery and the sooner the better.

Marveaux finally (touch wood) seemed to get his problem sorted only after having surgery.

DokToon, yes, minus Cabaye if he is not fit. I’d have Perch in if he isn’t – our best tackler.

@pizza I havent seen enough of Sakho but i wouldnt exchange Benny for any player in Europe (except Bale, Ronaldo or Messi :-D).

The marvelous one is a certified superstar. I still think he is stifled in Pardews strange 3-5-2 formation (or whatever that was yesterday). Just play him on the left wing or through the middle and he’ll be awesome for us

    I agree.

I really hope Perch starts over Anita and Tiote, he really deserves it, and away from home, we need some steel in there; Perch brings that, whilst being careful and smart, unlike Cheick.

Marveaux will be in his favourite position which he has been crying out to play in, so here’s his chance. Debuchy has been a star for us so for imo, and Jonas has looked in alot better form of late. Papiss is well and truly back by the looks of things, and i really think we will beat Wigan, taking all of this into consideration.

Cisse will need to come off at some point, as he looks knackered, and rightly so, his workrate has been superb.

Wigan 0-2 Newcastle – Cisse, Sissoko.

Pards will rest Cabs v Wigan for certain, so count him out of any of your starting XI…

Fully expect Perch and Anita to play, Jonas will play a large part as well. Also I expect to see both Ameobi and Campbell coming off the bench for Cisse and Sissoko at some stage.

Its tempting to give the lads a break, however if we do beat Wigan (I think we will), we are well and truly out of the dogfight. Even though we basically are. Once that happens, I expect to see heavy rotation for key players before the next Europa league games.

Olivant, in all honesty I would say they are a little sharper in attack than Anzhi, but a little more frail at the back. Either way they are still a very good side and will be a tough contest but certainly beatable.
