Massadio Haidara Suffers Serious Injury In Wigan Loss

After 22 minutes of today’s game at the DW Stadium saw Massadio Haidara, who had just come on for Debuchy, who suffered a hamstrung pull, badly fouled and injured by McManaman who flew in with a knee high tackle, and amazingly referee Mark Halsey didn’t even give the Wigan man a warning when he really should have seen a straight red card.

Soccer - Barclays Premier League - Wigan Athletic v Newcastle United - DW Stadium

Massadio Haidara stretchered off after 24 minutes

Newcastle issued this statement about the Frenchman:

Massadio Haidara suffered a knee and thigh injury in the first half of Newcastle United’s Barclays Premier League fixture away at Wigan Athletic on Sunday. The full-back was stretchered off following a challenge by Callum McManaman, and immediately left the DW Stadium, heading to Newcastle where he will be assessed further.

It could well be that’s the last se see of the 20 year-old this season, and Newcastle’s misery was deepened as Mathieu Debuchy has suffered a hamstring pull.

We were the better team till debuchy got injured. Then wigan scored, just when we started getting back in to it haidara got slaughterd with a potenialy career ending tackle.
I’m not blaming the players today, they were tired and were constantly been shuffeled we didnt deserve to win but we did deserve a draw.

If the ref wasnt a biassed piece of sh1t we would of kicked on and won the game after mcmanan got sent off but no, the ref will say he saw nothing wrong and the FA will say they cant punish him.
I’ve just completly lost intrest in football for the next week or so. Total Bullsh1t today, ref ruined the game. We have had the unluckiest season in BPL history

Our luck is rotten. As Pardrew said, we should have had a corner before the goal anyway. FA need to look into this

In fairness to the ref Alan Pardew said he didn’t see it and has apologised.

It doesn’t help us and he shouldn’t be missing that kind of tackle but at least he has acknowledged his mistake unlike so many who just don’t take responsibility for their mistakes.

Best case scenarios it is just badly bruised, worst case is thats a career ending tackle or an entire year out. Praying for the first one, poor lad.

Also Anita has got play next time there is no cabaye. We need smooth transition around the pitch (if that makes any sense) to keep us ticking over. Perch, tiote and sissoko in the midfield just lacks technical quality and “smoothness.” Anita has to start

PGMO won’t punish or do anything to Mark Halsey, as he’s officially a ManUtd’s man this year (against Liverpool).

All PGMO chairman was previously ManUtd’s man. (Graham Poll, Mike Riley), and surely Howard Webb next.

Thats the issue with refs for me…if these prem league guys are the cream of the crop what sort of rubbish to teams in league 1 and 2 have to deal with.

I understand it isn’t easy but thee are meant to be the best 10-15 refs going and the majority are pathetic.

They never move refs down the leagues either no matter how badly they do, maybe for one game but then they come back.

one of those weekends were you think why bother following football.

its pointless watching players fight for the win when the only person on the pitch that matters is the ref.

why dont they have video refereeing whereby someone externally monitors cameras of the game and then can remain in contact with the ref on the pitch . its not difficult.

the refereeing this weekend has been a horror show.

i dont know if anyone watch the mackem game but they has an equally ridiculous ref , how norwich managed to get a point in that i will not know as the ref tried his damn hardest to alter the result.

lost interest completely cant be bothered whating a sport where by the outcome of the game is dependant so heavily on the mood of the officials , takes the game completely out of the hands of players and tactics . wasted talent , wasted time.

Football is a guff sport sometimes, people are scared of change. Look what happened to cricket though, people were skeptical but referrals have been great. The less time spent talking about decisions and more about the football is surely a good thing

Hopefully haidara hasnt broken anything but i dont see how he hasnt. Hope he’s okay and that he can come back in time for next season at least.

Also tiote was beyond useless today and he’s been like that all season.
Everytime he got the ball he looked like losing it or simply just lost the ball.
    When he tackles, he fouls.
His positional awareness is awful, he was caught in no mans land and square on everytime someone ran at him.
He slows down play at every opportunity and gives the other team time to regroup.
Wigan targeted him today because he is the weakest link in our team now. By a long way

He should be dropped for the rest of teh season and then sold. Perch can do a far better job that him adn anita is better than that still

No matter how many injuries/injustices went against us today there was still no excuse for the performance. Shocking lack of movement up front and we deserved to lose based on the performance alone

The only positives were the defense looked solid enough esp when debuchy was on the pitch. I though cisse played well enough today considering the amount of service he got. He was looking for the early ball but it never came. Elliot was solid and santon finished his chance well

It’s a disgrace mate at top level, in fact any level you or your linesman should not miss a challenge that shocking! High late studs up through his knee, ffs the cameras picked up poor hiadaras yelp!
What really fcuk’s me off is that we will be hit with a fine for carver, possibly a fine for pardew criticising the officials but they will have no action taken against the officials

The difference is with cricket is there is a natural stoppage after every ball bowled where the bowler returns to his run up.

In football there can be minutes without a natural stoppage. If you stop the game then it can alter momentum if stopped incorrectly.

Also you could easy see today was a red card but a lot of the time even replays don’t have people agreeing for fouls so it’s not as black and white.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew after his team’s 2-1 defeat by Wigan: “It was an awful tackle [by Callum McManaman]. I have got a boy going to hospital and that’s a worse feeling than losing. I felt we should have had a handball [in the winning goal]. Everybody appeals for handball and in that split second is the difference between us clearing the ball and not.”

More from Alan Pardew: “Obviously (the tackle) was right over the other side (of the pitch). It looked a bad tackle but I didn’t realise how bad until it filtered through to us.

“We had a game we want to forget because nothing went for us. It was almost a calamity of decisions for us. We felt we should have had a corner in the build-up to their goal. But I can’t fault my players, we’ll have to patch ourselves up and get on with it.”
