Tiote, Gouffran And Debuchy Start – Cabaye Out

wigannufc

As expected, Mathieu Debuchy and Yoan Gouffran return to the side at the DW Stadium this afternoon for the match against Wigan, and Cheick Tiote is the defensive midfielder, but Yohan Cabaye is out injured.

Jonas Gutierrez has again come in for Yohan, and the Argentine played very well on Thursday night, but there may be some tired legs later in this game as eight players who started he game on Thursday start this afternoon.

Dan Gosling and Gabby Obertan both make the bench this afternoon.

We need the 3 points this afternoon to keep our momentum going.

will be interesting to see us without Cabaye, as since returning his has been putting the coal in the burner for us, so to speak.

so has williamson become our fall guy?

bit of a joke really, i know he’s not very good but he deserves a place on the bench as our back up defender.

    lol

we watch diffrent games,,, cabaye has looked poor for me all of this season,, he is playing to far back for us to get anything from him,, and his set piece plays are shocking,,

as a footballer he is fantastic, but not playing as a second DMC,
its like putting messi at right back

That’s an excellent team, but I’d rather have Anita starting ahead of Tiote. Our bench isn’t great, but at least we can play a 4-4-2 now.

    Krul

    Debuchy Saylor Mbiwa Santon

    Marveaux Sissoko Tiote Gutierrez

    Cisse Goufrran

We’ve got to watch out for the likes of Scharner, Bearsejour, Maloney, Kone, Figueroa, James Mccarthur, Boyce etc. All decent players.

I agree Willo should be on our bench. Maybe he’s injured? I guess Perch is more versatile but still. I’d swap Willo for Gosling!

So both Perch and Anita as CMs are subs but only 1 striker… Gosling ahead of Campbell? Really harsh that.

    catchy….

what the F? Since returning from injury Cabaye has been easily the best central midfielder in this league. He has been absolutely sublime?!?!?!

I agree he was off pace at the beginning until he got injured, but he has came back and been an unbelievable influence on the team. 80% of the reason we’ve picked up our form, IMO.

He’s been playing the role he plays for France, the deep lying playmaker, and he is absolutely flawless at it, couldn’t give him enough plaudits. I’m stunned at what you just said, seriously.

Campbell was never gonna get on the bench! Only young and played a good 20 mins against Anzi, while Shola didn’t play. Shola is still our 2nd choice striker so is not gonna get pushed out of the team for Campbell just yet.

Boyce would’ve been a good replacement for Simpson, but we have Debuchy now. Scharner would’ve been a good addition to the squad.

Scharner is garbage! Why would we want him… He would NEVER get a game for us and is now 33. Not far off 10 years older than our maximum age we sign players at according to our normally pretty strict transfer plan. Don’t know if you’re joking or if you’d actually want Scharner! if you do then please tell me who you’d play him over.

for me we dont have enough movement in front of him for him to be affective,
since jan , we have had one stand out player, sissoko,

for me, cabaye needs to be much higher up the pitch, both him and sissoko are both great at threading balls,

and IMO he is very poor at trying to pass the ball long, i dont think we have have a player in our squad who can pass a long ball,, they can hoof it,, and that is it

adam campbell needs to hone his craft in the reserves and maybe go out on loan for a bit. He is behind Sammy Ameobi in terms of his development in my opinion . Not good enough for the Premier league

I dont understand how Gosling makes the match day squad ahead of \Bigirimana . If Williamson is fit and hasnt been deemed good enough for the bench that is just cruel on Pardew’s part

To be honest, Catchy has a point. Cabaye is technically brilliant but he’s playing far too deep to have a major impact in the game. The games he’s changed have been when he’s been playing further up the pitch alongside or just off Sissoko.

That said, while he might be poorer than his usual standards, he’s still been bloody good.

I sense we mights actually be playing 4-4-2 instead of 4-2-3-1. I guess we will soon find out. I would have liked Anita in there but for once, Gutierrez has justified his selection with a good game vs anhzi. Tiote… Well we will see

Gosling ahead of Campbell??? he fancies a draw before we start Pardew, Jonas, captain as well??

But don’t want to get too negative, we could still get something from the game.
