While Newcastle have recently had two full-backs injured – Massadio Haidara and Mathieu Debuchy – there’s some good news that both Tim Krul and Fabrici0 Coloccini are only a couple of weeks away from making a comeback.
Tim Krul being congratulated by Danny Simpson after Metalist win
Tim was injured late in the game at Metalica Kharkiv, after pulling off a string of fantastic saves, after Shola Ameobi had put us ahead with a penalty. And Fabricio was injured in the next game at home to Southampton, when the 31 year-old tried that fancy overhead clearance and put his back out.
That was on 24th February, 25 days ago and Colo should be back soon – and we need both Tim and the captain back as soon as possible.
Colo’s friend Jonas Gutierrez talked about the Newcastle captain yesterday:
“When he got the injury, they said six to eight weeks only. When you talk about Colo, we know he can do it quicker.” “He always does the right things, and he doesn’t have any problems, so we will see him soon.”
“I spoke with him, and he’s feeling better. It is a long-term injury of about a month or so. Therefore it was going to be hard to bring him back in the condition that he left.” “We know what type of professional he is, and we understand he can’t come back and just play a little bit.”
“We all want him back to play full games. We want him back as quickly as possible, because he’s really important for us.”
Alan Pardew had said it would between three to seven weeks, and that there was no treatment for the Argentine, other than time and rest – so in two weeks it will have been close to six weeks since he picked up the injury.
Tim Krul was thought to be out for several weeks with his ankle injury, and it’s now four weeks today that he picked up his injury, and of course Rob Elliot has played very well indeed in Tim’s absence – and he has certainly not let Newcastle down at all.
Rob is a very good goalkeeper and could get an Ireland call-up soon. Newcastle still have at least ten games to play this season, two of them against Benfica in the Europa League quarter finals.
And we are still not completely safe from relegation, so there’s still some work to do before the end of the season – and maybe we can make it a season to remember, by avoiding relegation and reaching the Europa League final and even winning it?
It’s certainly possible – so here’s hoping.
Comments welcome.
And please sign this petition to get the FA to do their job, following their disappointing decision to do nothing on McManaman’s tackle on Massadio Haidara on Sunday – let’s turn a negative into a positive – thanks.

Comment #81formerly known as seems like a lifetime ago. Oh to be young again 🙂 (That’s not an invitation for an old joke Rainrix).
When you say Sunderland win, you mean a game or a something significant? Sorry, had to laugh at that last bit…win something significant!!!
If it suits us for them to get a result then yes, if not then hell no. I actually don’t want them to be relegated. Love watching the derby and a season wouldn’t be as satisfying without constantly reminding them that we’re better.

Comment #82Yeah these multiple account folk – mentallers… chatting to themselves… The reason I mention it Fella’s is that I have been on this blog for about 3 years – sporadically jumping in with comments andthen back out and from reading some of the last few weeks stuff – it gets quite tasty of a weeknight or weekend evening around 10pm… and its all about different names and multiple accounts and in-fighting… some of the things said are incredible…

Comment #87Absoloutly love Colo but wouldn’t think its fair to drop Mbiwa like that when he gets back the lad already plays like colo but has years on him imagine how good he will be at colo’s age. plus the kid is the fastest center back ive seen in a while that is also competent in other departements

how much do you watch french football? my wife being french i watch it with my inlaws every week Aby over gremero anyday. gramero is drowning out of a small team where as aby has the arrogrencce to succeed everywhere. He would be our new Tino. My first choice hands down. The kid hes it all he is a box of tricks. Gameiro is an owen where he is a finisher but Aby has better movement for cabaye, better positioning and can score a goal out of nothing

you both know your football.. a refreshiing view that isn’t fantasist for once here. I agree with your points. I doubt we would field a weaker team for the qpr game as revenge and let paying fans down although i would love it and pay to see it haha ps i know you said in jest 😉

Comment #90P.S good point by Jail.. Pards doesn’t always get it right and everything is matter of opinion but every club gives there disgruntled opinion on their managers choices when their team doesnt win.. i have faith in pards i think he is growing as a manager like the owners are running the club and hopefully we are on the whole of not being viewed as delusional t&&ts like the scousers living in the past
