Norwich Agree £8M Deal For Ricky van Wolfswinkel

Some surprising news from reports coming out of  Portugal, that potential Newcastle striker target Ricky van Wolfswinkel has agreed to join Norwich City for £8M.

Ricky van Wolfswinkel – will join Norwich in summer

Norwich manager Chris Hughton seems to have beaten other clubs to the 24 year-old striker, whose current club Sporting Lisbon are very short of ready cash.

Newcastle have been linked with van Wolfswinkel for a few years now, although it seems like 23 year-old St, Etienne striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is at the top of Newcastle’s list of striker targets in the summer.

£8M seems a decent deal for Norwich, so we don’t know if the former Newcastle manager has beaten his former club to van Wolfswinkel.

Newcastle were interested in the striker while he was still at Utrecht, and Norwich paid twice the amount that Sporting Lisbon paid for the Dutch striker almost two years ago.

It seems that Norwich have paid some of the transfer fee already, which allows Sporting Lisbon to pay the wages of their players and coaches, which are currently eight weeks overdue.

There were reports in January that Norwich had bid £8M for the player, but that bid was turned down, but that’s before Sporting Lisbon ran into more financial difficulties.

We assume Newcastle did not want the former Utrecht striker, and probably Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, whom owner MIke Ashley and Chief Scout Graham  Carr watched on Sunday night, is our number one target for the summer.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

And please sign this petition to get the FA to do their job, following their disappointing decision to do nothing on McManaman’s tackle on Haidara last Sunday – thanks.

Was never really fussy on this lad, we can do alot better in the summer. I think this lad was way down on our list to be honest.

Im not even sure he is worth 8 million the clips I have seen of the lad.

Ian Toon you are so sad
Where as Pushys a bit of a lad
The emotional turmoil you seem to suffer
You invented Pushy to act as a buffer
When things are down and your chances are slim
In steps Pushy fresh from the gym
When your with Pushy so macho and tough, watch him freak when you call him a puff
Parker has spider and Bruce Wayne is a
    bat
When you need to feel cushy out comes your Pushy.

jail @5 – by God you were waxing lyrically there -much better effort than mine.
“The man with a thousand faces” aka Ian Toon aka Pushy Pardew aka Carl aka Mr Funk is now acting like a complete fool and just showing himself up and probably just trying to taunt instead of showing any contrition at all and it seems he is going to continue his stupidity.
Pushy never did reply to me when I asked him if he could do the “Funky Chicken”. An innocent question about contemporary dance.

If their is any Truth in this then i,m not a Happy Larry!

Long been an admirer of van Wolfswinkel, if Norwich have paid 8 Mil for him then they,ve got themselves a bargain ! Think he,s worth more than that !

Not sure if this is true though Ed? Where,s this info coming from?

To be fair to MA if the last transfer window is anything to go by especially on GC recomendation if we wanted the player bad enough or he was our No1 target then im sure we wouldnt have messed about & made a bid. Maybe a better CF is already wrapped up! In Carr we trust, i never thought i would say this but maybe in Ashley to! HWTL!

Well done Chris Houghton and to Norwich for investing in their manager. He deserves it. It won’t affect us one way or the other.
