Shearer – We Were Never In Danger Of Relegation

Alan Shearer was inducted into Newcastle’s new Hall of Fame tbis week along with two other legendary strikers – Jackie Milburn and Hughie Gallagher – and Peter Beardsley and Bobby Robson – were also inducted – and the former Newcastle number 9 has said today that he never thought Newcastle were ever really in any relegation trouble.

Alan Shearer – no worries about relegation

The Bleacher report has recently looked at all the remaining league games and have forecast who will be relegated, and they have Newcastle getting 11 points from their last eight league games and finishing in 11th place on 44 points – and that would be good – but it would be better to break into the top half.

The defeat at Wigan has put a bit of a dent in that possibility however.

The report has  Reading, QPR and Aston Villa bring relegated – but we hope Villa can stay up – and we think they will.

This is what Alana has said i the local papers today:

“I don’t think we were ever in danger particularly with the signings we’ve got.” “We’ll be all right, we’ll be fine.” “I have no worries over that at all.”

“Newcastle have spent in January, but hopefully they’ll spend again in the summer.” “When you look at the season they had last time, nobody ever really expected them to replicate it again.”

“Probably in the league, though, we expected to be in a better position than we are. That’ll all be forgotten if they go on and do well in the Europa League.”

It was  simply  a brilliant move by owner Mike Ashley to bring in those five French players in January, and it just shows what a great job Graham Carr and his team are doing, that they already had them lined up – and two months ago Newcastle showed we now have  a smooth operation when it comes to bringing players into the club.

We need a few successive wins to be safe in the league, but somehow we think we’ll get more than 8 points form our remaining eight games which are as follows:

March
Sat 30	15:00	A Manchester City
April
Sun 07	15:00	H Fulham
Sun 14	12:00	H Sunderland
Sat 20	15:00	A West Brom
Sat 27	17:30	H Liverpool
May
Sat 04	15:00	A West Ham
Sun 12	15:00	A QPR
Sun 19	16:00	H Arsenal

How many points do you think we’ll get from those last 8 games bearing in m ind we have the two Benfica ties on April 4th and April 11th?

We’re not safe yet and depending on how results go after the next round of fixtures a bit of panic could set in, especially if we lose to citeh.

I would like to think we could get 13-20 points but that might be heart over head!

Oh and I would love to see Villa go down

Never in danger of going down? What a ridiculous statement. I didn’t think we would be, and still don’t think we will go down, but to say we were never in danger is ludicrous. We are STILL in danger. What a great player the bloke was, but in terms of punditry, management or personality the bloke is a moron.

As for wanting villa to stay up, I don’t. I think they might just escape though. Reading and QPR to go down, and the third is any one from about 5.

20 points? that means loosing 1, drawing 1, and winning the rest?

Not a snowballs chance in hell, our squad is laid bare with injuries again, we have a CB in Argentina, and judging by the pictures that are surfacing, his mind, is no longer with NUFC

Going back to those games, you can guarantee no points from Man Shitty, Liverpoo, The Arse, that leaves 5 games, 15 points 3 of those games are away

I can see an absolute maximum of 12 points from our games left…..more than a little worrying to be fair

I totally disagree with Mr Shearer about us never being in danger. In fact, I’d go as far as to say that we still need 3 wins to take the pressure off.

If we can keep our squad healthy to the end of the season I reckon we’ll get the points necessary.

The summer transfer market will interesting. Who comes in and who goes out will either boost us up the league or condemn us to another relegation dogfight.

I’ll be happy with a draw at Citeh and kick on from there.

    Here’s my forecast

    vs Man City (A) L 0
    vs Fulham (H) D 1
    vs Sunderland (H) D 2
    vs West Brom (A) L 2
    vs Liverpool (H) L 2
    vs West Ham (A) D 3
    vs QPR (A) W 6
    vs Arsenal (H) D 7

We should totally compile all our predictions and see who got the most right at the end of the season.

Reading and QPR are set to punch their ticket to the Championship. I dearly wish Wigan will take the ride with them even if it means missing out on the Aston Villa Megasale.
